We had an exceptional lunch at The Hush Cuban kitchen & bar today, and honestly, it was some of the best Cuban food we've ever had. We started with the beef empanadas, which were traditional, flavorful, and perfectly done. Then came the Cubano, and wow, absolutely outstanding. The pork was cooked perfectly, juicy and tender with just the right amount of crispy pieces that gave it incredible texture and flavor. We also ordered the Cajun Arroz con Pollo, and it completely blew us away. It was packed with flavor, the crispy chicken was truly perfect, and the Cajun seasoning was spot on, bold and delicious without being spicy. From start to finish, every bite was memorable. Add in the cool downtown Clayton vibe, and this place is a must visit. We'll absolutely be back. read more

Excellent food and service. We ordered the Ropa Vieja and the Avocado Salad--wow! Such a delight for the palette. The salad came with a whole avocado over fresh salad greens, tomatoes, pork and black beans. My only complaint I got full too fast. The ropa vieja was packed with flavor too. We had a shot of Uncle Nearest that was a generous pour. We will definitely return and encourage any visitors to make this a must try! Update! I wrote this review before we got our bill. The Uncle Nearest Whiskey shot was priced at $6. We were charged $10 and stated we had Jack Daniel's whiskey! When we pointed this out to our server, she said, "oh no, we have new menu prices, ok?" Was really good food the Rojas was tasty the empanadas were wonderful. The mojitos were some of the best! Unfortunately our service was really lacking and don't think she could understand any English at all. Had to get up from table and go point to what we were asking for and such.. would be solid 4 stars if this was better.. not knocking her but the establishment should consider this when putting them out to communicate with customers. read more

Best Cuban I've had. All the food was excellent. My wife raved about her plaintains (crisp on the outside, perfectly soft inside) and she finished them (atypical). Her rice and beans were perfect. The Cuban sandwich on sweet bread was also nigh perfect. Service was quick, seating was quick, parking tight. Downtown was busy, and this place was hopping, but no wait. We stopped here for dinner and were blown away by the flavor of the food! We ordered: - the yucca cheese fritter (comes with 5 pieces): a great way to get started - an avocado salad with pork: this was the sleeper favorite of the night. While proportion of meat to vegetables was straight out of a stereotype, the meat tasted so good and unusual. We all fought over the last scraps of - the Lechon asado: pork chops with plantains, rice, and avocado salad. Hit the spot! - Cajun arroz con pollo: can't speak to the authenticity but it was yummy! - cachapa: this is a corn pudding cake with cheese and optional meat add ins (we went vegetarian). The food is good but not really authentic Cuban. I had the Pan con Bistec and they put Russian (maybe?!?!) dressing in it. Good but not what I'm used to. They served their black beans with yellow rice, not white. Again good but not what I'm used to. Others had the Palomilla Steak. It was good. They used a mixture of onions and tomato on top. But the service was sub par. Once we got the food our server never came back! We didn't get drink refills nor were we asked if we wanted dessert. I had to call her over to finally get to go boxes and the check. So we may or may not be back. read more

We visit here mostly with friends, but sometimes we go just as a couple. The staff are always friendly, and the food is good. Hush is located just down the hill from downtown Clayton, so it's a perfect spot to stop before or after shopping. For locals, it's a place you go when you need a break from cooking, or just need to get out. The atmosphere is relaxing, and drinks are waiting. This was a pleasant surprise, as a Miami raised Cuban, it was interesting to see the twists on our native dishes. It did not disappoint, the mojitos was soot on, and the fried cheese with guava jam was spectacular. I had the Cajun Arroz con Pollo. I was completely taken by surprise when I saw it, but it was superb, the chicken fried to perfection and the rice was flavorful. Driving home from Florida on our way to Gatlinburg we passed through Clayton Georgia when I saw a sign for Cuban Sandwichs. NOW we are in the mountains and a place has Cubans we have to stop. What we find is a town with a great food scence and this Cuban restaurant is letting the way. The Cuban sandwich is equal or better as any sandwich from Florida. The bread was excellent with loads of pork and ham that all married with the pickles and mustard to create the perfect sandwich. Oh yeah and the with had a great chicken bowl that was very very good with great seasoned chicken and rice. I ate dinner here on a weeknight while visiting Clayton. It was about 6:30 pm and there were two parties ahead of me at the front desk. Plenty of open tables but I think the place may have been short of staff. I was eventually seated on the covered porch which was very nice, except for the couple with a dog who were at the next table. The dog was restless and barked a lot. I had a fruity rum cocktail. The menu didn't list the ingredients so I asked and my server also had to go ask the bartender. It was beautiful and tasted good. I also had the yuca cheese fritters which were great balls of fried cheese with an aioli sauce and pickled onion on the side. Five balls in the order, served on a banana leaf on the plate. My entree was the lectin asado. Barbecued pulled pork with yellow rice, black beans, fried plantain, and a slice of avocado. That was really delicious. I should have stopped there; it was more than enough food. But a sweet sounded nice so I let myself be talked into the banana bread pudding. It was the only disappointment of the evening. It was fine, but not up to the standard set by the earlier dishes. Served in a plastic cup with a plastic spoon, it could have been prettier. The nilla wafer on top was so soggy it disintegrated when touched. The dessert tasted all right and it was a good size. The was a large parking lot by the restaurant and there's also street parking and some nearby city free parking areas. I walked from the place I'm staying. This restaurant is at the end of the busy section of Main Street. Easy to find. read more

We were hungry after hiking Tellulah Falls and wanted something small and found this place. Well, that went out the window. Portions were huge! Gem of restaurant tucked away in a quaint little town. Clayton has some very good restaurants and this one ranks very high on the list. I started with the shrimp Ceviche and it was served perfectly. Vegetables were crisp yet marinated and the shrimp was the perfect texture. Also had the cubano sandwich and it was very authentic tasting. As locals, we have eaten here before and loved everything we ate and drank. The service was fast and friendly. So today we stopped in again. I'm sure the food and drinks would have been equally as good as before. However we sat for more than 10 minutes while others who were seats after us were waited on. No drinks, no one came by the table. So when we got up to leave, we were told to "have a great day!" I replied that no one had come to the table. She replied, "you could have said something" and made some other comments while walking away. If no servers are around or come to the table to even take a drink order, is it really the customer's job to find someone to take our order? In my experience, that doesn't bode well for good service for the rest of the meal. read more
