Was eager to try this shaved ice for the first time and waited in long line in the hot sun. Service is slow, so bring patience. Price was $6 for small and $8 for a Texas small (I guess this translates to Large). You can chose up to 2 flavors, so I ordered 1/2 coconut and 1/2 watermelon, but they mixed the 2 flavors on top of each other, not separate with 1 flavor on each side. This may have been the fatal error. The result was awful and tasted of rancid milk. I could only take 2 bites and had to trash it. I am shocked by how a shaved ice can go so terribly wrong. It's hard to mess up, but flavors were inedible I'm sad to say. I wasted $6 and a lot of time waiting in Texas heat. Huge disappointment. Buyer beware. read more

Hokulani Shave Ice is so good! This amazing food truck specialized in authentic Hawaiian shave ice which is nothing like raspas, or whatever other shave ice version we are used to in San Antonio. Something key about them is that they use real fruit on their shave ice, which makes everything taste 10x better. Because of this, their menu is constantly changing according to fruits which are in season, but I can assure you that anything you order will be delicious. They use real syrups from fruit so if you miss lilikoi, it's the real deal with even the seeds in the syrup. That said, warn ur kids that the lime and lemon are sour and not sweet like lemonade. We waited 45 min in 92F hot sun. 40 people were in line BEFORE it opened. I recommend trying on a weekday when it may not be so busy (fingers crossed). The shaved ice is not as fine like Matsumoto's, BUT they use all natural syrups. Someone also wished they carried mochi balls for a topping. Ever since our trip to Hawaii my wife has been following Hokulani and trying to get us to go. Well this past weekend we finally had a chance to try them out at the Pearl Farmers Market. We were there pretty early so avoided most of the crowds and had time to check out the menu without being in too many people's way. Ultimately my wife decided on guava limeade and strawberry with the coconut cream and I did strawberry and blueberry with the coconut cream. The staff was very friendly and made our order fast. Now if you didn't know there's a big difference between shave ice and a raspa/snow cone. These were by far the best shave ice we've had outside of Hawaii! The ice was super smooth, the flavors were excellent, and the coconut cream was the perfect addition. So I might have a small obsession with this shave ice, but it's so good and it's the best way to cool off in the intense Texas Summer. I absolutely love the coconut with raspberry, pro tip add vanilla ice cream in the middle and coconut cream on the top! The tamarin is also AMAZING! We have been craving Hawaiian shaved ice for a while now. Most of the places here in SA have disappointed. However, we saw Hokulani Shaved ice on Instagram, so we gave them a shot. They were located in a food truck in far north SA. When we got there in late evening, line was quite long, which was reassuring for me. The service was good. They have multiple options which looked intriguing. We had the First Class to Hawaii. This was delicious, almost as good as the shaved iced we've had in Hawaii.
