Was a new customer and won't be back. I could have overlooked the fact that the floors were dirty with melted and sticky food that no one appeared to care about cleaning even though the place wasn't busy at the time. Maybe they were busy organizing in the back and didn't have time, or maybe they had a rush right before I came in and would get to it as soon as possible. I could have also given the food a second chance even though it was mediocre at best. However, the real issue was that the service provided by the female co-owner was exceptionally flat, rushed and rude, which resulted in an overall poor experience, and for that reason, I won't be back. read more

Shaved ice was fine. Customer service was unusual and rude to say the least. First time at this place and the lady (apparently coowner) at the register said "you need to know what you want before you come to the register." We clearly had questions and had never been here before. There was no one walking around outside of her to answer our questions so not sure how else we could have done it. When you walk in there are several pictures of their sweet treats posted on the walls. It was nice to see what their menu items look like before ordering. There are also a few menus posted around so it's easy to decide what you want as you're waiting for your turn to order. The ice cream is blocked so you can't see it, but you are able to look at a list of their flavors. The young man working was very kind and patient as we looked at all our options. When I asked about something, he explained what all was in the treat then pointed at the wall and told me where to find the picture. I think many people would have just told me it was on the wall, but he took the time to explain how it was made step by step. We got a brownie sundae which was pretty basic - the brownie and cookies were slightly dry and it was plain vanilla ice cream so it didn't exactly feel worth the money. The Oreo one was definitely worth it, but VERY sweet! There are two Oreos and ice cream sandwich on top of an Oreo milkshake. Man was it good, though!! This place was a very typical snack shop. With chips and cheese, shaved ice, corn in a cup, and even mini pancakes. It was slow/empty when i arrived and i was greeted and served immediately. Staff were friendly and ready to help. Establishment was clean, they have plenty of indoor seating. Chips and cheese (not pictured) were good, cheese was hot! It wasn't at all overly sweet, in fact, I kind of wanted sweeter. I also didn't ask if it was an option to get two different kinds in the choice of flavors. I didn't even think about it. Honestly, for the taste I wanted, a mini with one scoop would've served me perfectly. Some of the other snacks looked like super sized snacks. I just wanted little snacks. Ha. Maverick, who is the assistant manager & prepared both of my things was super friendly & when I told him I wanted the cucumber split, but thought it was too big, he said to try it next time because it's served in the same dish as the nachos, so it's not very big. He also said the Italian ice does pretty well in the freezer if you don't finish it. Aguas frescas are also made fresh in house. Unless I'm out in Hawaii or somewhere out west, I'm usually pretty skeptical of Hawaiian themed places that sell poke, musubi, or in this case, shaved ice. Aloha caught me by surprise for offering a lovely version of shaved ice; one that had me wanting more. Now after having gone back a time or two, I am super appreciative that something like this exists in San Antonio. For starters, they've been taking the pandemic seriously. There is still no indoor dining and they have folks socially distant for every line that forms. They have sanitizer at the tables and offer touchless payment options and the staff is masked up. (#1) The AC is blasting in the place and they have the proper decor (surfboard too!) to give the place a pseudo-tropical feel. They'll even rock a 10% discount for a social media follow. I went the strawberry and pineapple explosion, which is strawberry / pineapple flavored shaved ice with fruit over a bed of ice cream and topped off with condensed milk. It was sweet, refreshing, and everything I wanted. In fact, it was the best way to get acquainted with the business and is a personal highlight for me down here. The woman behind the register had also mentioned that "everything is good." I usually never take that to heart, but somehow I ordered very random things and still managed to enjoy them all. Everything from birthday cake ice cream, mangonadas, esquite (or as they call it: "corn in a cup"), and she was right: it really was all very good. Before any island lovers get too amped up about this, I would still maintain real Hawaiian spots are goals, but this is a solid alternative. The staff is mainly all Spanish speaking and are pretty friendly. The menu is adjusted to adhere to the local tastes, which is why there's aguas fresas, supernadas, nachos, etc. If there was any drag, it was the super sticky floor, table surfaces, and grubby door handles. This is a result of people eating their desserts early and/or spilling around them. Most of the culprit is melted ice cream or syrup. My boyfriend and I come here at least once a week if not more. We have tried most things on the menu at this point and every food and drink item we've tried has been delicious. I especially have enjoyed the elote (corn in a cup) and aguas frescas topped with chamoy and fruit. It's a cute little spot and we are usually in and out in under 15 minutes. I'm always curious about things on the menu or in the fridge behind them. They always recommend the good stuff and I'm never let down! I appreciate the cleanliness of the shop. If you come after 7 sometimes they are closed, key thing to look for are the benches outside. If they are pulled inside they are closing even though it says they close at 8. Awesome place! I had been at a restaurant down the street and was craving something cold and refreshing, most people want a drink I wanted shaved ice. After looking around I stumbled upon this place. It had great reviews and appeared to have easy going prices! Because of that I had to try! We walked in and we're greet and felt welcomed. It was cool inside literally, and had the menu wall with a huge display so everyone can read. The prices were good and the smells were better. This was a first visit for me. I'm super impressed with the excellent customer service and the cleanliness of the establishment. When I arrived and standing in line I thought it would be a long process however they were very well organized in taking orders and fulfilling them. There was social distancing and carry out only. Got a medium strawberry explosion which consisted of shaved ice with strawberry syrup, homemade vanilla (blue bell tasting) icecream sandwiched in the middle with strawberries on top. I finally went to try this place. I'm always on the hunt for the best mangonada. This place is not close to me but I wanted to try it out so I took a drive. When you go inside they are practice social distance and they have a set up to walk against the walls. And after you order you there are certain squares to stand In to wait in. I did feel safe and it was very clean. So they offer a variety of sizes. I was so happy they offered a mini size. I ordered a mini mangonada and starwberries and cream. The mangonada was very good there were some chunks of mango in it not too purée but very good. The strawberry and cream was not like the traditional strawberry cream. The cream was thicker in consistency. Which isn't bad but it tasted like Strawberry and whip cream. Over all everything was very good.
