worst company ever. sold me new hvac system. couldn't get it to work and wanted to get paid

My HVAC is ten years old and has always been serviced by the installing company, not Holbrook unfortunately. Today Holbrook came to service my furnace and what a difference in companies! Holbrook's rep, Mike, was more thorough than I thought possible. He had my furnace apart like it has never been before and found crap that should have been taken care of years ago. Mike was polite, friendly, and professional. If you need an HVAC company you should consider Holbrook. They are the best trained and most thorough techs I have ever met. read more

my furnace was working intermittently and my oil company Superior suggested Holbrook I called and was quoted $400. Their employee was here less than 40 minutes and handed me a bill for over $800. he suppisidly installed a new box because the started button was 'sticky' but worked. I asked for him to put my old one back on because I couldn't afford the extra $400. He said he couldn't do that and I still feel that he never replaced it at all anyway so I told him I couldn't pay that so his boss told them to dismantle my furnace entirely. I am a senior citizen living on Social Security and it was 20° out and he just shrugged his shoulders. I told him my pipes will freeze and so will I and he just shrugged his shoulders again heartless don't ever use them. I do not feel they replaced the box because my old one was not down there. Since when do repairman take the garbage with them I called and asked for it because I couldn't afford the extra money and they said they couldn't do that. After many phone calls, my bill was reduced to the original $400 quote, but the behavior of their employee is unforgivable. read more

They were very responsive to our request for an estimate in MARCH. They were paid in FULL the first week in April. They cashed the check and here we are in June- nothing. We get updates (over 12 times) that everything is fine. They are supposedly purchasing their/our unit from Costco and blame the delays on Costco. They change their story repeatedly. When we asked for a refund they said that would mean they have to return equipment. If they have the equipment why are they blaming Costco- why not just install?? We do NOT recommend and hope we don't have to go to court to get our money back (over $5,000)!!!! read more

One word to describe Holbrook Heating, INCOMPETENT!!! **STAY AWAY, UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY AND HAVE UNNECESSARY AGGRAVATION IN YOUR LIFE** I purchased an extended warranty with the company I bought my HVAC unit, and Holbrook Heating was their designated contractor to install and maintain. HVAC unit was installed on 12.4.19, the compressor had to be replaced 3 times in 3 years, which is UNHEARD of, and it still did not work!!! After the 2nd compressor went at end of June 2022, I was told from Holbrook, they no longer service my area, so I would have to contact the new service company. I had to pay $149 for service call. New service company said I needed a new compressor and freon as there is a big leak. I told them that is impossible as compressor was just replaced a year ago and freon replaced, that means this would be the 3rd compressor! When they heard that, they told me they did not want to get involved in this mess as they've never heard of 2 compressors breaking down in 2 years in all the years they've been in business. They said it's clear there is something gravely wrong and Holbrook had to deal with it. That's when Holbrook said they would do me a favor, (wink wink) and replace for me. Because of their incompetence, I went without A/C basically this whole summer! They installed 3rd compressor and added more freon on 8.16.22, I specifically asked them if they fixed the leak, as I cannot go through this anymore, the tech said there was no leak, valves needed to be tightened (I had to pay for freon thats not covered under warranty). 3 months later not working again! Rather than come back to address issue in mid November, when I still had warranty, (heat was only blowing out warm, then turned to cold air) they placated me stating all was fine with unit as its more energy efficient now. In beginning of December compressor started making really loud noises again. When I called them on 12.12.22, I was told my extended warranty expired on 12.4.22!!! And now I would have to pay $250 for service call and $250 an hr after that, as again, THEY NO LONGER SERVICE MY AREA. I then asked to speak to Scott Rossen, the owner, as how could he charge me this amount when clearly there's something wrong!! I'm still waiting for a call back, I won't hold my breath! Since I was no longer under warranty, I called another HVAC person, the first thing he told me is I had a huge leak and my freon is pouring out again!!! This is the reason why the compressor kept on breaking down. The compressor would need to be replaced again if I didn't call the new HVAC company. Also the thermostat Holbrook replaced, was not compatible with my system, so that's why heat never came out hot, only warm, then turned to cold air. New HVAC person fixed leak and installed proper thermostat within 4 hrs that Holbrook couldn't fix in 3 years!!!! I had to pay $2200 in total for this visit (freon, new thermostat and their time). In total I paid almost an additional $3,000 because of Holbrook's incompetence. I'm more annoyed over the unnecessary aggravation and the time I wasted on them. In October of 2018 a salesman visited our home to discuss a Mitsubishi split unit air conditioner/heat system for a portion of our house. Our house has an unusual layout so the salesman walked through the house and took measurements with a laser instrument. He recommended a larger unit that he said would accommodate the entire house. After two full heating and cooling seasons, it was obvious that the unit is not sufficient. We have no choice but to use our existing heating system as well as window air conditioners in one portion of the house. I wrote the sales manager April 26, 2020 and June 22, 2020 with our concerns. He sent a technician to our home and we were told that there was nothing that would improve overall results other than placing a fan in the hallway to help draw air into the area that needed more heat or cooling. A poor solution that did not work at all. I believe that we were misled and over sold to a larger and more expensive unit that does not do the job. I never did receive a response to my June 22, 2020 letter. I am frustrated and disappointed with Holbrook Heating and would not recommend the company. read more

Holbrook Heating came to our rescue! Our furnace's inducer motor blew out late on Thursday night and we had a competitor come to service it mid-day Friday. The competitor told us they couldn't get the part until Monday or maybe Tuesday, and seemed to care less that we'd be without heat for several days...all while the tech behaved rather disrespectfully, even kicking our furnace with his boot at one point! Never having worked with Holbrook before, I took a chance and called their office to see if they had the part we were told we needed. The dispatcher took down our model details, and a few minutes later called me right back with a yes! A couple of hours later, and their techs had us back up and running. Our assigned techs, Dan Corrice and Mike Lindley, were both knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. They explained what they were doing every step of the way, and treated us and our home with the utmost of respect. What a difference working with Holbrook! Not only did they help us out in a bind, but the little things made a big impact, like calling when on their way, taking off their shoes at the door, and an attitude of helpfulness and compassion. Oh, and their price ended up being about half what the competitor quoted us! They've earned a new customer, and we'll soon be having them back to prep our A/C for the summer season. read more

I wanted maintenance done on my central air unit/compressor. They were recommended to me from a friend. At first I thought they were great. Phil spent a few hours cleaning the compressor because we did not have anything done on the advice of other services (until it breaks down). The first thing Phil said was, "You're lucky it's still working, it's 25 years old." It's only 20 years old and it's a TRANE which is built to lat 40 years. When we needed the central A/C, first day it worked, then the fan did not work. hmmmm. Why did it suddenly break down????????? We called for service and had to wait 2 weeks, one week was very hot. When he came to diagnose the problem, we were charged $350.00 much more than the simple maintenance fee. He was also 3 hours late, which was not disclosed until we called. We threw that money out the window. Then he said a motor for the fan could be replaced but the unit replacement would be $8000.00, WHAT!!! where are they going with this? all they want is money. Phil said they would call regarding the fan motor part WHICH THEY NEVER DID. NO CONTACT WHATSOEVER. And the weather was getting hotter. So of course we had a friend who is A/C licenced. We should have worked with him first. He only charged minimal fee to look at the motor, told us what to get. We had to buy from a TRANE dealer, got the parts next day and our friend put it in for a mere $150.00 since we already threw away so much money on this company. A/C is working fine. When/IF we ever need a new compressor we know we will NOT use Holbrook. Stay away from them. I do NOT recommend them whatsoever. All they care about is $$$$$$$$$$. an absolute rip off company. read more

Holbrook rocks. My furnace died Thursday at 2pm. I called them and they came out at 5:30pm. They were unable to fix it and had to order a part. The office called me at 8:30 the next morning and told me they would send someone with the part as quickly as possible and were at my house by noon. All of them both office and technictians are pleasant and courteous. Awesome service considering it was totally unexpected! read more

They recently did a furnace install with fair price, and great service. But suddenly, the new furnace stopped working on a very cold night! I tried some trouble-shooting, but finally called. Even though I live in a "bad" neighborhood, the tech came after dark and made sure that my home was warming up and that the furnace was going to come on again. No charge! I let my 498 Facebook friends know how much I appreciated their business! read more

They do exactly what they say they will do. Showed up on time, very professional, and did a good job. Price was fair and service great.

Not sure why they are so costly. Simply LOOKED at my radiators and charged $274 for the visit! Phone appt said $95 for initial visit. I will be addressing this fee with the Manager. No tools just a camera and lots of good, technical advice. The Tech Mr Mike was awesome! Give this motivated lad a raise! Best thing about the costly visit. Awaiting a receipt for my Master Card that I haven't gotten electronically. Answering service was rude. Took 5 tries to get the phone answered. My guess is a relative performing this service for free. Never apologized or assured me I would get paperwork. Simply hung up . Guess I interrupted her Saturday leisure. I will Re rate, maybe, After I get my receipt and awaited estimate. But I doubt I will need future services from this company. Not a good warm and fuzzy about the fees. My heating system is an archive. I can imagine the replacement cost thru them. read more

This Sham of a company installed an A/C unit in my house in 2011. They never registered a key part to the unit. This key part failed. Their offer was to charge me for a new one (at their cost?) and split the labor to install a part that is technically under warranty but because of their negligence, is not being covered! This will equate to a $700 repair that should cost me nothing as it's supposed to be covered. They put this mistake they made (not registering the part) in writing. They will also require you to sign an "Annual Maintenance Contract" where you are required to hire them once per year and inspect the unit. If you miss the annual check up they will try to use this to get out of a warranted repair. Be very wary of doing business with this company. The manager has her people screen her calls regularly and will not face up to their shotty work. read more
