Food was excellent. The bartender confirmed that everything on the happy hour menu is the same as the normal menu so you get high-quality food. Service was outstanding. The ambience was upscale yet not too upscale if you know what I mean. The down home shrimp was outstanding - served with an incredibly buttery rich sauce, and if they would've let me I would've licked the bowl. That might be frowned upon for this type of establishment. The half price menu on the glasses of wine is excellent - you get some really good quality wine that you normally wouldn't. For example, Justin instead of being $17 - half, a great deal. If you're nice and don't beg, they bring you on the house bread. No special butter just standard fairly. The bread is outstanding and the idea that you can still get some for free is very surprising these days. Happy hour can get 2-3 people deep so get their early or just get lucky.

Looking for a quick HH place with oysters and found 801 Chophouse. We got seated right away in the bar booth seat. Ordered the oyster special and crab cakes and 2 drinks. Both were so good and the service was excellent. Very friendly and prompt service whenever we asked for something. Would definitely come back to try their dinner menu.

My oh my oh my. All I can say is, 801 Chophouse you will be seeing me again. First things first, the service was fantastic. Our waitress was super kind and attentive and took really good care of our table during the dinner! It was a decently sized restaurant with beautiful bar seating, table and booth. It wasn't loud at all, so perfect for table conversations. Le bf had the snake strip wagyu and I had the KC strip. We added the green beans, Mac and cheese (had delicious smoky gouda flavor) and scalloped potatoes for our sides (the potatoes had the most AMAZING cheese crust on top OMG). We also were given a complimentary dessert for celebrating an anniversary. Oh and they serve the most delicious complimentary sourdough bread and butter! My goodness the sides are plentiful!! And I know it may sound odd to take home leftover steak and warm it up in a microwave. I understand that, but boy did those steaks maintain their moistness and delicious flavor. The green beans were honestly my favorite part. They were topped with delicious caramelized onions and chunky bacon! Oh and the carrot cake, even better the next day. Take my money 801 and keep my seat warm, I'll be back.

We have been coming here for years, and we have always had the same experience... Perfection. From being seated to our drinks to being treated like we were the only people in there to receiving our food, everything was perfect. Last night was my wife's birthday and Bela took care of us like no other. We definitely had another incredible experience and this is the reason we will keep coming back for years to come.

Delicious meal and great service, started with shri.p n mashed potatoes, sourdough bread, then bone in KC strip, lobster Mac n cheese, and the best Brussels sprouts ever.

Had a nice dinner! Wanted to give this steakhouse a try. Our group of four had the bone in KC strip, Filet Mignon with crab, and the Chilean Seabass. We got the oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer and for sides the lobster Mac and Cheese and brussel sprouts. The food was all delicious. Filet mignon was cooked to perfection and very tender. The bone in was ordered "medium" and was over cooked, closer to well done. We hand the Soufflé for dessert and it was good too. This is an elegant restaurant and service was friendly and attentive. However at the end of the day the food was OVER PRICED and we liked J Gilbert's better. They have a better menu, with more Variety, for a better price. They also have wood fired steaks that taste better. J Gilbert's is the better steakhouse.

The quality of food was good. For a high end steakhouse the quality of ingredients was top notch and the ambience was good. The food itself tasted good but definitely not worth the money. The service was also decent but it wasn't stellar. If I go to what is considered one of the higher end steakhouses in KC I expect from start to finish a great experience not just an above average one. The waitress asked if my son and I were celebrating anything and I said it was his birthday and I'm not expecting anything for free but at least a candle in his cheesecake. None of that happened so why even ask if we were celebrating anything. The filets were cooked as we ordered but without the sauce lacked flavor. The best parts of the meal were the charcuterie plate and the dessert. The star of the show should have been the filets what they are known for.

Brussels Sprouts: Absolutely loved these! Perfectly cooked with caramelized onions on top, adding just the right touch of sweetness. Espresso Martini: So good! Made with real espresso, it had that rich, authentic flavor I adore. Salmon: Cooked to perfection! The sides were a standout, coming together to create delicious, balanced bites. 8oz Filet Mignon: Exceptionally tender and full of flavor--a steak lover's dream! Fried lobster app: YES- so good! The sauces mixed with an exceptional lobster bites was exceptional! A splurge, but worth it. This place really knows how to elevate classic dishes. Definitely worth a visit. Our serve Bela was excellent, truly enjoyed his expertise and humor- thank you for a great night!

We had such a wonderful experience here, mostly thanks to our amazing waiter Bela Illes. He was truly the best server I have ever had, he made the dining experience so special and memorable. The food was incredible as well! Such delicious desserts also. I can't wait to continue to come back and hopefully have Bela as our host!

We went to 801 Chophouse for a business dinner! We had a private room that helped us take care of business while enjoying a great meal. Our waiter was Hungarian along with his wife. They did an excellent job making sure we had quality food, drinks were filled and chose something we would love to eat. I did not take pictures of all the food the lamb lollipops were amazing. We also had amazing sides of cream of corn, twice baked hash browns, augratin potatoes, Brussels sprouts and macaroni and cheese!

I took out business clients on a Wednesday at 5:30 pm here. They don't do happy hour in the Dining room, just the bar area. Service was great, I've never had someone cart out steaks to show me cuts, but I thought that was pretty cool. I started with a Caesar salad and got a Ribeye 16oz* with Au Poivre & Cognac Cream. The sauce was worth the extra money. It is very pepper forward with with partially grounded pepper. Blue cheese crust is my fave, but this is a very close 2nd. It was so stinking good. I made sure not an inch of sauce was unused. Bottom line, special occasion spot with typical high end steak house feel, for a date or business clients. Very pricey, but worth it if you are in the mood for steak.

Excellent quality as shown in the prices. It's true the food is excellent and the staff is fabulous! The old adage you get what you pay for comes to mind. The lamb, steaks, fried lobster and desserts are so good. Try the lamb lollies and wet aged filet. End it all with one of each of the desserts. Your soul will leave this restaurant HAPPY! Can't wait to go back

Guess what if you have a place which serves Mexican seafood go try something like this. This place specializes in seafood in Mexican cuisine perhaps this is the second location there's another location in the downtown, which we have been to, but let's get to how we like this place Food I would say was not amazing but good we didn't like the paella the rice was mushy. It was smelling different because of the clams and oysters that was definitely not fresh. We didn't smell a lot of saffron added to the food the crab meat queso was amazing and we also ordered another Spanish or Mexican shrimp with spicy sauce. That was amazing. The margarita was great.. There was literally one person available in the restaurant who was taking care of the bells bar food any requests coming? We felt a little bad that she didn't have a lot of help but she was super awesome. Very sweet. Took care of us like anything running around everywhere gave a huge tip to her. My waiter was Kara she let me know upfront she had not been working here that long, but she also was pretty knowledgeable and when she didn't know something, she found the answer for me. She was great at helping me find options and she was really nice. Drink: I love that their drinks weren't pre-made I got a ready fire aim with rum (bellows) instead of mezcal and it was really good. Perfect hint of spice and sweetness. The water was really nasty though. Food: Everything is made to order and customizable which is rare. -(6) Grilled chili butter oysters my favorite very great flavor -(6) Grilled Stuffed Oysters this was very different but still good I was nervous about the octopus idk of if I necessarily taste it was a fishy flavor but still great to try. I would probably try it without octopus next time. My waiter suggested using the premade lime mixture to cut the fishy taste and it worked perfectly and I also tried the habanero lime mixture. That's on the table and that tastes good as well it cut the fishiness. -Ceviche tostadas no carrots and light cilantro no (btw this is the Pacifico one): probably the best ceviche I've had and I added the habanero purée and it was perfection.

To have this exquisite sanctuary within mere walking distance of our front door feels like discovering a secret coordinate on an old traveler's map. It is a place that exerts an irresistible pull, anchoring itself as the absolute perfect destination for an intimate, romantic date night or a lively, laughter-filled evening meeting up with friends. There is a brilliant, transportive alchemy at work here, transforming a casual stroll through our neighborhood into a deliberate departure from the ordinary, where the modern world gently recedes into the background. The atmosphere is utterly on point, evoking the hauntingly beautiful, slow-burning elegance of a French colonial-era brasserie tucked away in the humid heart of Southeast Asia. There is a distinct, poetic nod to the writing of Joseph Conrad within these walls--a deliberate, masterful play of light and shadow that makes the space feel alive with a quiet, brooding mystery. "Premier" isn't marketing flair - it's accurate. This is, hands down, the best raw bar in Kansas City. We arrived for our 5:15 p.m. reservation in the main dining room and were warmly greeted by Allison, our server. She struck the perfect balance - friendly, engaging, and attentive throughout the meal. A great start to the evening. For two diners, we wanted to explore as much of the menu as possible. Before ordering food, we were told the signature Frozen Gin & Tonic was a must. It lived up to the reputation - bright, refreshing, and expertly balanced. The only thing that would have made it better was a slightly warmer dining room. We're big mussel fans, so we opened with the Bangs Island Mussels - and they set the bar high. A generous portion of plump mussels bathed in a white wine and roasted tomato broth that was deeply flavorful without being heavy. The toasted bread was perfect for soaking up every last bite. Simply outstanding. Next came the NOLA-Style Shrimp Gumbo. Served in a small bowl, but packed with richness and depth. Adding a touch of hot sauce brought just the right amount of heat and complexity. A standout dish. My wife - having happily overindulged in mussels and bread - opted for a lighter course: a single Maryland Crab Cake, available fried or broiled. It was almost all crab, clean and flavorful, with a satisfying crust. She couldn't finish it...so I did. When you go to a raw bar, oysters are non-negotiable. I ordered a half dozen featuring both East and West Coast varieties. Each one was pristine, briny, and fresh, and the horseradish had just the right bite. For my entrée, I chose the Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp - four large prawns, each wrapped in crisp, smoky bacon. Simple, well-executed, and a strong finish to the savory courses. Dessert did not disappoint. My wife loved the Lemon Pistachio Chess Torte, while I devoured the Bourbon Apple Tart. She noted that the toasted meringue reminded her of marshmallows - a detail that made us smile. The dining room is intimate and can get noisy as it fills up. Next time, we'll likely try the patio for a different vibe. Pacing throughout the meal was spot-on, dishes came out promptly from the kitchen, and Allison's service tied everything together into a truly memorable evening. We'll definitely be back - and soon.
