Came here for #KCRW2026 We were a group of 4. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is s nice bistro. They have a coffee/cafe restaurant and bar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. They do have a very nice wine list. On the RW app it liked like you could get a 3 course for lunch. I'm the restaurant it was actually only 2. You chose 2 of 3. We all opted to go with the appetizer and main course. They all ordered the Skate I ordered a Croque Monsieur. Both were delicious. Service was very quick and everyone was very nice.

Dropped into Aixois for Restaurant Week. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I found the atmosphere to be quaint and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was very good but not exceptional. While the Restaurant Week app menu for Aixois listed a 3 course lunch meal, what was presented at the restaurant was a choice of two out of three courses, which was a minor disappointment. I had chosen the Caesar salad, which I noted, included tomatoes and the Blackened Skate, which was delicious, but would have been better with the addition of capers and a little less lemon. All in all a nice lunch. Would like to return for dinner at some point.

What a lovely restaurant! We met our friends here for a light dinner before going to a show at Starlight. We started with a charcuterie, which was delightful, except none of us eat liver, so the pate went to waste. My wife had the mussels. She didn't love them. I had the blackened swordfish special, which was excellent. Truly. It came with rice and broccolini. Our friends, who are regulars, enjoyed the chicken dish on the menu and the tuna special very much. The waiter suggested a few wines for us and all of them were excellent. The service was a little bit slower than we had hoped. But we were still able to get to our show on time. The place was packed so that was understandable. They were completely booked, so our friends went 45 minutes early and got a table on the patio. We would like to return for a leisurely lunch or dinner.

We stopped in for Restaurant Week '26 having booked out reservations online we were sat right away. Staff was helpful to answer any questions of the food. The KCRW website showed that you got a 3 course menu when we were only offered 2. The Soupe A L'oignon Gratinée was good but felt like it was lite on the onions. For the main entree I ordered the Blackened Skate which was a very complex flavor and had a good crisp. I would definitely order it again.

For years I've driven by this little spot wondering would I like it and for years I never tried it...until today. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the moment we walked in we were in love with the ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server Lainey made us feel right at home. The food was amazing. Everything exceeded expectations. We are definitely coming back again soon!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Aixois French is a charming and classic French bistro tucked away in Kansas City's beautiful Brookside neighborhood.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the moment you walk in, the cozy and intimate atmosphere sets the tone for a lovely dining experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have a gorgeous patio that's perfect for enjoying a nice evening out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried several dishes and everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented: * Soupe à l'Oignon (French Onion Soup) - rich, savory, and comforting * Smoked Salmon Plate - light and refreshing * Salade de Chèvre Chaud - warm goat cheese over fresh greens, a must-try For entrées, we had: * Onglet Grillé au Poivre - a tender hanger steak with peppercorn sauce * Pâtes Franchises au Poulet et Champignon - creamy chicken and mushroom pasta * Chicken Paillard - perfectly cooked and flavorful To end the night on a sweet note, we had an Espresso Martini, Crème Brûlée, and a delicious crêpe dessert. Each one was the perfect finale to an already amazing meal. Whether you're planning a romantic date night or a relaxed dinner with friends, Aixois is a fantastic choice. The service was warm and attentive, and you can truly feel the love and care in every detail. Highly recommend checking it out!

Bastille day at Aixois in Crestwood. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was teeming with guests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]An accordian player was taking requests and the special menu was serving festive items.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our table enjoyed the mussels in a garlic white wine sauce, escargot and oysters for appetizers. We also had the charcuterie board, vichyssoise, avocado and shrimp salad and the roasted goat cheese salad. Dinner was blackened tuna, a burger, the seafood fettuccine, and the sole. We finished with a crème brûlée and chocolate crepe. We had happy tummies and full hearts.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Stopped by here for a Happy Hour before going to see some theatre at the KC Rep. it was a cool evening and so we were able to dine outside on their terrace which was lovely. It honestly made me feel like I was in California![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We shared the Pomme Frittes (little soggy) and then a large salad which they divided on two plates. We both had their onion soup and we enjoyed that and the salad! Great wine selection and we would return, but just beware it was a bit pricey for what we had when compared to other places that actually have Happy Hour specials. The service was good but a bit aloof. Not sure if that's widespread or just our experience. Still good and we would return for a special occasion.

Ambiance: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Food: 7/10 This is one of the loveliest restaurants in Kansas City. The patio and interior are beautiful. I liked everything about the relaxed feel of this restaurant. It is perfect for an intimate dinner date or a get-together with friends. The service was great as well! Our server was attentive and friendly, and we never had to wait for a drink refill. I really wanted to love this place, but the food was a bit of a letdown. The meal started off strong with the tasty French baguette and butter. However, I would say some of the food lacked seasoning. While my french onion soup looked amazing, it tasted a little bland. The mussels were just ok. The steak was pretty tasty and well-seasoned. The fries were delicious. I really wanted to try the dessert, but we were too full by the end of the meal to order dessert. I would like to come back here just for drinks and dessert, to enjoy the ambiance again.

Aixois a local French bistro in town center plaza with a great laid back feel. You feel like you are stepping into a bistro in France. The owners have done a great job of capturing the essence and vibe of a French bistro. Service was great and friendly and the food was just as great. The ingredients were top quality and the portion sizes were just right. Definitely a spot I plan to go back to in the future.

The space is gorgeous, with an old world, French romantic feel. Tailleur describes itself as French in spirit and that pretty much nails the vibe. We started with the focaccia, and since the breads are made in house, obviously we had to investigate. Then came the grilled peach salad, which was delicate and refreshing. And then I stopped pretending to be delicate. Pesto rigatoni with a huge fillet of salmon on top was choice. Fat Kid Activated! The pasta was fantastic, and that salmon took it from good to extravagant? Their current menu confirms both pesto pasta and Faroe Islands salmon are part of the rotation. Pretty sure I just wandered into Paris from Kansas City!

It's as if you've stepped out of KC and into an another country in an elegant and comfortable restaurant for the high tea dining experience. The tables were beautifully set and the music and lighting were conducive to talking and having an elevated high tea dining experience. The beverage options included and listed a variety of teas as well as coffee, and select cocktails for an additional charge. If all of that didn't excite you, the high tea food tower definitely will! I feel like most high teas have a ho hum selection of foods that you find just about anywhere and could be picked up at a local grocery or box store and are usually dry, hard, and even flavorless. Tailleur's tower had a delicious variety of tea sandwich and treats, all of which were made in house, and were flavorful with surprising complexity and very fresh. The service was impeccable from the moment we entered and were greeted until the moment we exited. For us, the parking lot and restaurant were a little difficult to find but definitely worth the effort. In fact, we were running late because of that and the host called to inquire and offered us help in getting to the location---thank God! He also reminded us to bring in our license plate number, as they pay for your parking, in the lot behind their building! They were prepping food for the evening meal service and it smelled amazing! My anniversary is next month and I definitely want to go back for dinner! I highly recommend Tailleur's Signature Tea and definitely go again myself!!!

To step through the doors of Café Provence in Prairie Village is to experience a delightful,…read moredefiant fracture in the space-time continuum. It is an exquisite temporal illusion, a portal that bypasses the predictable geometry of a suburban shopping center and deposits you squarely into a perfectly stuck-in-time Parisian brasserie on the Left Bank. For one glorious evening, the midwestern plains recede, replaced by the seductive, buttery hum of a romanticized mid-century Paris. Eating here is not merely a matter of ingestion; it is an act of total surrender. I quite literally ate all the things, embarking on a sprawling, hedonistic pilgrimage through a menu that reads like a love letter to classical French gastronomy, executed with an absolute precision that would make the most demanding Parisian chef weep into their copper pans. The atmosphere possesses that elusive, crackling energy where history feels thick and the present feels beautifully paused. One cannot help but look at the warm lighting and the intimate arrangement of tables without evoking the ghosts of the great French literary pantheon. It is the sort of room where you half-expect Albert Camus to be sitting in the corner, nursing an espresso or a deep glass of red, brooding over the beautiful absurdity of existence while quietly marveling at the perfection of his steak frites. If Camus famously posited that one must imagine Sisyphus happy, I can assure you that Sisyphus would be ecstatic if his eternal boulder were instead a giant wheel of triple-cream Brie from this kitchen. There is a profound, comforting rebellion in the restaurant's commitment to timelessness. In a modern culinary landscape obsessed with the fleeting whim of the avant-garde, Café Provence stands as a magnificent monument to the enduring truth of heavy cream, rendered fat, and impeccable technique. Our culinary odyssey began with an assortment of appetizers that set a dizzying standard for the rest of the evening. The escargots arrived swimming in an emerald sea of garlic, parsley, and butter so rich it felt like an existential revelation. Each bite was a masterclass in texture and balance, demanding to be aggressively mopped up with shards of crusty baguettes. Next came a charcuterie board that looked like a still-life painting by a French master, featuring terrines and pates that struck a perfect chord between rustic charm and refined sophistication. The french onion soup was a dark, brooding, caramelized masterpiece, blanketed in a thick, blistered layer of Gruyere cheese that stretched on like a beautiful, unending prose sentence. It was the ultimate comfort food, elevated to an art form, offering a depth of flavor that felt like a warm embrace on a chilly night along the Seine. As the main courses arrived, the kitchen continued its relentless assault on our senses. The duck confit was a revelation of physics and flavor, boasting skin so astonishingly crisp it shattered like delicate glass at the touch of a fork, yielding to remarkably tender, deeply savory meat beneath. It was accompanied by a rich reduction that tied the entire plate together in a harmonious symphony of decadence. Not to be outdone, the trout almondine was a triumph of classic restraint, the delicate fish perfectly seared and bathed in a nutty, brown-butter sauce that sang with a bright splash of lemon. Every dish that crossed the table felt like a deliberate argument against the fast-paced negligence of the modern world. The kitchen does not cut corners; they honor the slow, deliberate rituals of classical cooking, and the result is a menu where every single option feels like a definitive, unimpeachable victory. Of course, no journey to the Left Bank would be complete without a grand finale from the pastry station. We indulged in a tarte tatin that was a masterclass in caramelization, the apples softened to a luxurious consistency and perched atop a beautifully flaky, buttery pastry crust. Beside it sat a creme brulee with a sugar crust so flawlessly torched it required a satisfying, sharp tap of the spoon to break through to the velvety, vanilla-flecked custard below. To experience this level of pastry work outside the borders of France feels like a beautiful, benevolent trick. Café Provence does not just replicate the flavors of a Parisian brasserie; it captures its very soul, proving that exceptional hospitality and transcendent cooking are entirely universal languages. It is a glowing, triumphant jewel of a restaurant, and I am already plotting my inevitable return to eat all the things all over again.

Last year on our anniversary we went to the most amazing french bistro in Vegas and really wanted to relive that experience. I knew the scenery wouldn't compare but I at least thought the food would. The food was not bad but it definitely was not great. I got the lamb. The sauce, veggies and potatoes were great. The lamb left something to be desired. I have only had lamb at one other place and that place blew this place out of the water. The lamb here was gristly and chewy, a bit dry- possibly overcooked. My husband got the filet which was covered in gravy. A good steak should never be soaked in gravy. I also googled it to see if it was a "french thing" it was not. My husband was a little frustrated with me that I made him go 45 minutes out of his way for mediocre steak. Service was average. I kept seeing this recommended for a "cozy date night". Chaotic is a better description. It is a small space with too many tables crammed in. We were literally up against a short partition that separated us from entrance . The music felt like it just added to the noise. The decor also had no flow, no rhyme or reason. It added to the chaotic feel. There was a cook painting side eyeing me lol. There were murals on the walls of scenery and they were lovely and calm but all the other random pictures, antiques, portraits distracted from the beauty and stole the calm feel that the murals offered. By reading other reviews I know it is a popular date night destination and many love it. Just not me which is why I "maybe" recommend it. I just won't be returning.

Here, the strict, timeless geometry of the Left Bank softens into a warm, sun-lit casual elegance, a neighborhood sanctuary where the hum of local politics replaces the brooding silence of the philosopher's corner. It is a space where the Democratic social scene is always in full, effervescent effect, a kinetic theater of ideas where local strategists, organizers, and policy wonks gather over marble tables to debate the future of the state while tearing apart freshly baked croissants. The air thickens not with existential dread, but with the electric, hopeful prose of a collective striving for progress, making it the definitive salon of the modern suburban landscape. The beauty of French Market lies in this seamless blending of civic passion and culinary delight. Every corner of the room feels curated with a benevolent affection, an atmosphere fueled entirely by a staff that can only be described as thoroughly fabulous. From the front counter to the busy kitchen, the team moves with a synchronized, smiling grace that makes every patron feel like the guest of honor at an intimate neighborhood gathering. They navigate the bustling room with a genuine warmth, pouring drinks and delivering plates with an infectious energy that elevates the casual setting into something truly extraordinary. It is a rare, beautiful thing to find a restaurant where the hospitality feels less like a service industry transaction and more like a generous act of civic kinship. On the plate, the market routinely touches the sublime, offering dishes that sing with a clear, poetic precision. The crab cakes are a revelation of coastal longing, packed with sweet, tender lump meat and boasting a delicate, golden sear that yields effortlessly to the fork. Nearby, the croque madame arrives as an opulent, dripping monument to breakfast-time indulgence, a decadent tower of savory ham and melted Gruyère crowned with a perfectly runny egg that coats each bite in a rich, golden velvet. To wash down these triumphs, one must order the French press coffee, a dark, aromatic brew that arrives in a slow, plunging ritual, delivering a bold, robust punch that commands your full attention and jump-starts any morning debate. While the kitchen operates at a remarkably high standard across the board, a discerning diner must exercise a small measure of tactical restraint when navigating the entrees. For all the brilliance on display, it is best to gently bypass the steak frites for the time being, steering clear of the dish until the kitchen source a more premium quality of beef to match their otherwise flawless standards. But this minor detour is easily forgotten the moment you glance toward the pastry case. The desserts here are an absolute, transcendent poetry of sugar and butter, offering delicate tarts and airy confections that are nothing short of sublime. French Market remains a triumphant, essential neighborhood jewel, where the food is exceptional, the people are magnificent, and the conversation never stops flowing.
