a plate of steak and vegetables

Amazing food and service! Bourbon tenderloin was outstanding and love the music they played. Made my trip to Lufkin a little more enjoyable.

WOW!! Great steak and staff was friendly and very helpful.. I ordered the ribeye, medium rare and it came out perfect. It was well seasoned but not over seasoned. It also came with two sides and a salad. I got the asparagus and brussels sprouts and they were delicious. I had a glass of the educated guess Cabernet Savignon, which paired perfectly with my dinner. As I was typing this review from my car in the parking lot, the server came out to hand me my credit card, which I had accidentally left at the table. See what I mean? Very friendly and helpful staff.

This is an awesome cab for the price

About as nice of a restaurant as you would expect to find in Lufkin. Really nice inside white tablecloths good wine a decent prices excellent side salad with an amazing house dressing - mustard. Wes is an amazing host. Professional. Explains the menu choose well. I had a great Cab here - from Cali The restaurant us in the same building as the hotel and it's a decent hotel. If you stay here it's just a walk around the corner to the restaurant and walk back when you're done.

Pork chop, chicken fried steak and a nice Cab

Wow! We decided to make a day trip to just get away. Stopped in Lufkin for the night and this little gem was right by our hotel. Decent wine list, full bar and white tablecloths. This is a great local stop for an evening. Egg rolls for an appetizer that was crispy and hot. Dipping sauce was great. I had the chicken fried steak and the tequila cream sauce was a welcome change to the usual cream gravy. My date ordered the pork chop and I was impressed. Side salad was not your usual clump of iceberg lettuce but rather a nice mix of greens. Croissant bread pudding was excellent. Definitely need to stop in here for a great meal.

I'm a foodie. I eat out every day at least once. I have to give this a thumbs up! Food and wine both very good

Porkchop with green beans and mashed potatoes.

I admit, I was hesitant because of the location. I mean, how many times do you find a restaurant of this magnitude inside a Quality Inn? For the record, this restaurant is inside the Quality Inn but is not affiliated with it in any way. With that being said, it was very good. Actually, it was very, very good. As far as the taste of the food goes, it is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in all of the Lufkin area. I ordered the pork chop with a side of green beans, mashed potatoes and a salad w blue cheese dressing. All of it was divine. The green beans tasted like they were done in a olive oil and butter sauce. The mashed potatoes were very creamy. The pork chop was topped with their own special sauce that added great flavor to it. I hesitate to compare their pork chop to Perry's in Houston simply because it's different. It is uniquely its own. I posted a picture of my meal. They do have a full bar. If you are staying at one of the area hotels, it is within walking distance of the Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Comfort Suites, and obviously, the Quality Inn. It is a short drive south on Hwy 59 from The Courtyard (about a mile). The bartender stated that only about 30% of their business is from travelers. If 70% of their business is locals and it's in an inexpensive brand hotel, it must be good. Don't let the location fool you. The taste of this food could easily be located in a top tier hotel. You owe it to yourself to try Hole In One. Tip: They have a private room if you need to entertain clients. It is large and would easily seat 30+ people. If you found this review useful, cool, or funny, please let me know below. Thanks for reading.

Ordered take out to eat back in my room. Ordered Guacamole Dip( had almonds and blue cheese chunks in it). Don't know who thought of this but it was an awesome flavor combination. Also ordered the blueberry salad with chicken. This was also an interesting flavor combination. Very much enjoyed my meal.

You wouldn't know it just driving by (and don't let the fact that it's attached to a budget motel fool you) but there's a real cook in the kitchen. Great flavors! Spoiler alert...Don't eat the pork chops if you ever want to enjoy pork chops somewhere else - nobody can beat that sauce!

Shrimp and grits. Crab cakes. Take out.

Thanks for the fantastic hook up. Just drove in from Indiana and wanted something close by. I went with the crab cakes and shrimp and grits. Delicious. Quick. Polite.

Hole-in-One is a diamond in the rough in Lufkin which is overloaded with chain restaurants. I should mention it's more analogous to a low carat yellowish-brown diamond, but a diamond nonetheless. Our party of 4 started by sharing fried oyster nachos and crabcakes. The nachos were quite good and I'd order them again. The "wonton chip" stood out above the oysters. The crabcakes were high-quality with very little detectable filler but the sauce was overwhelming and unnecessary. I recommend ordering the sauce on the side. For my entrée, I chose Chicken Marsala as our waitress recommended. The chicken was well-prepared but I ran into more sauce problems here. It was oily and mixed into my side dishes. I tried building a bread dam to keep my side dishes clean, but it wouldn't hold against the sauce. The sauteed spinach was nothing remarkable but the whipped potatoes reminded me of my mom's which is a good thing! My wife ordered a big old bowl of gumbo for her main course. I think the size she got is larger than the actual "bowl" on the menu but I'm not sure if we paid more. I like my roux pretty dark and this gumbo's was light brown. Served with stale crackers, it was a big meh for me. The dining room was really busy on a Thursday night, so make reservations. Hole-in-One sits inside of a Quality Inn and there are a bunch of other hotels around. Overall, I thought it was a good meal but they need to replace their giant sauce ladle with a modestly sized spoon.

Cheddar's -- A Family Favorite Worth Returning For!…read more This was such a great spot to spend time with family! We came in as a party of nine, and the service was absolutely fantastic. I'm not sure if it was because we went on a Friday for lunch or if their service is always this quick, but everything moved smoothly and efficiently. One waiter, in particular (I wish I had caught his name), was excellent -- attentive, gracious, and clearly proud of his work. Let's Talk About the Food! We started with the croissants and honey butter, and let me tell you -- they were amazing! I would come back to Texas just to have those again. Even after we'd let them sit for a bit, our waiter surprised us by bringing another heated plate, fresh and drizzled with that golden honey butter. It was such a thoughtful touch! For my main dish, I had the steak with broccoli casserole. The casserole brought back memories of my grandmother's recipe -- warm, cheesy, and full of flavor. It felt like a little bite of home. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and my tablemates couldn't stop talking about the ribs and green beans, which are must-tries if you go. Atmosphere & Overall Experience Since we came during a slower time, the restaurant was mostly empty, so I can't comment too much on the full dining atmosphere. But based on what my family (who are regulars) shared, it's always a friendly, family-oriented environment -- the kind of place where you can relax, laugh, and enjoy good food together. If you're ever near a Cheddar's, definitely check it out for yourself. Leave a review and let me know what your favorite part of the meal was -- but don't skip those croissants! They're worth the trip alone.

Most definitely, but what food spot hasn't had a raise in prices mixed with a decline in portion sizes? Is the service pretty much the same? Yup! Nothing new to report here. We sat at the bar and within seconds the bartender was on us! We have never been so we did not know what to order so she started telling us what they were known for and offered us some bread. The bread was warm and the two types of butter were yummy one was sweet with cinnamon and the other a saled butter. We ordered drinks and an app, and I think within 2 minutes we had our Rattlesnake bites and a few seconds later our drinks. The drinks were good and strong! we then ordered our entrees and snacked on bread and the appetizer. Other than them being a tad bit salty they were cooked very well. Before we finished our first round of drinks our entrees came! I got the ribs with green beans and mac and cheese. The ribs were amazing fall off the bone tender and juicy! the green beans were very flavorful while the mac was eh... My wife got the Dallas filet that she said was cooked perfectly and it did not need any steak sauce or seasonings. She also got corn that she really enjoyed and mashed taters but they were a bit watery... We ate as much as we could but could not finish our food. I'm not sure how this place became the tradition, but whatever. Dad seems to like it, and that is all that matters. Cracker Barrel is just this side of awful. Yes, the folks here are kind and the service is OK, but ... meh. It's no different than any other Cracker Barrel in that the food is marginal and the atmosphere is way too kitschy. Pancakes here are anything but fluffy. Sure, one of them had some crispy edge going on, which was decent. The other pancake seemed like an afterthought. They did an OK job on the scrambled eggs, but the rest? The breakfast sausage here is grainier than beach sand stuck to toast, and (all) the breakfast meats -- particularly the ham -- are saltier than the Black Sea. I know people raised hell when this company tried to simplify the logo, but they really should be up in arms about the way-overpriced stuff that is served here. IHOP dominates this place in every way, including not having to browse through a cheesy store on the way in and out.

Once we reached the front of the line, the young lady behind the counter greeted us right away, took our order, and handed us our cups. The drink station was clean and stocked with a good selection. We grabbed a table--both the tables and floors were clean--and within about 10 minutes our food arrived. I ordered the French Toast Combo, which came with four slices of French toast, two eggs, sausage, and seasoned potatoes. The meal came out on two plates, and everything was spot on. The French toast had a perfect light crunch on the outside while staying pillowy soft inside. The scrambled eggs and sausage were solid, and the seasoned potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft inside. My wife ordered the Breakfast BLT--bacon, lettuce, tomato, fried egg, and Duke's mayo. She added a little hot sauce and absolutely loved it. Not a crumb left! She liked it so much that we also picked up a tub of their chicken salad to take home, and it was delicious later that day--no complaints at all.
