We were driving back to Houston from our trip to Little Rock for a wedding. The wedding was awesome. So we pulled into a huge parking lot. Pro tip there is a huge amount of road construction around the restaurant so plan accordingly. We were greeted and sat promptly. Karen our server came and greeted us and got our drink order. I went to the restroom, it was clean but in need of a cosmetic upgrade. The restaurant itself was clean and had a Louisiana feel. My wife ordered the Salmon med rare, and she said it was excellent. I ordered the shrimp quesadillas and I was impressed by the buttered flavor of the flour tortilla that was crispy on the edges. I also was pleased with the amount of shrimp and cheese. The guacamole and the pico were fresh and tasty. For appetizers tried the Pistolette and were not overly impressed. The Boudin Balls and sauce were very good. I think they could have been a little spicier, but they were great. The bread pudding was just average in my opinion, but my wife loved it. My wife and I agreed that this will be one our go to stops when driving through Lufkin. read more

Came on a drive through town when it was a slower Saturday evening which made for awesome service by Madi & perfect food. Having humble & genteel personality while being a menu wizard, she made me feel right at home with her hospitality. My Oysters Royale cooked by Michael were fantastically perfect & delicious. I should've gotten the dozen instead of the 1/2. Being it's my first time, I had to make sure they were on point first & they were! I loved the charro bean side that came with rice & sausage bits topped with pico. The hush puppies are decent with some garlic butter you might want to dive into like it's the Summer Olympic swimming relays. The music and atmosphere was nice & festive. The booths are comfortable & being solo, the 2 person sized ones were perfect for me. Lufkin has a mainstay that most towns would be jealous to have. Come eat here & leave satisfied. Whether it's lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong with this place. The menu has seafood options in either tex-mex or cajun format. So if you're not in the mood for quesadillas, nachos, tacos, or burritos, switch over to po boys, gumbo, oysters, or one of their seafood specialties like their blackened tilapia, or redfish pontchartrain. As for myself, I usually go with their fish tacos or I'll order their po' boy combo (comes with gumbo and fries/potato salad) which is the perfect amount of food. The fish tacos have a fresh cabbage slaw with a lovely fish sauce drizzle and seasoned nicely. Meanwhile, the po' boy comes on a flakey french roll with lettuce/tomato; I usually get it with the fried shirmp or oysters. And the seafood gumbo has the right thickness to it with seasonings. Getting a table here is easy with plenty of seating and service is always attentive and on point with our orders. We also dig the artifacts on the walls such as the planes and old school coca-cola signs. And of course the 70's-90's classic rock and contempo music that gives a chill setting. We brought the family in on a Friday night, so it was pretty busy. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our server was super friendly, and got to us right after we sat down. The food took a bit to come out (as expected), and everything was hot and looked great. We all enjoyed the meals we ordered, and would get them again. Food is decent , but very expensive. Service has always been good. The ambiance is very nice as well. Sometimes they have live music. When this place first opened it was the best around, but since the management changed, the food quality kind of went down hill. I have eaten great steaks here. I always tell them not to put a blob of butter on my steaks because I want to taste a moist seasoned steak. Not meat soaked in butter. I had the fish and chips here a few times. We were seated at a high top round table, at about 8pm initially with 4 of us, when we arrived. We were just there for a drink and the live music, but not long after ordering a couple of drinks, we were joined by 3 other friends and pulled some unused chairs over to enjoy each other's company and celebrate one of our friend's 65th Bday. At that point two waters came over and told us we had to move to the very back secluded room because they couldn't serve that many guests at a high top table. We asked to talk to the "manager" Brad, to explain why we couldn't stay where we were, and he was very rude, and said that he had had several complaints from guests and waitstaff about our group being seated at the high round too, even though no one said a word when we ordered, or as we were joined by others. We didn't want to relocate to a room where you can't really see or hear the band, since that was the whole reason we were there. We found out after waiting to be served that the manager Brad, told his waitstaff not to serve us. Our group has been to Tias for YEARS and we are well known, good customers and tippers at this establishment, but no more. My husband and I lucked up and found this gem during an overnight stay in Lufkin. The food is excellent and at a very good price. So much so that we returned two weeks later during a trip through Lufkin. The service is more than 5 star! On our first visit someone called in to say a party of 30 was coming to in. We watched the staff arrange tables and ready them for the incoming guests. All the waiters pulled together to wait on the incoming guests. Our service did not suffer one bit. Everything was packaged & ready to go when I got there. The staff added a bag of salsa & jalapeños as I was signing the receipt. I added tip as I didn't notice the added "packaging fee" at pick up (I usually review the receipt but it was so late & we were rushing). When we got to the hotel, we noticed NOT A SINGLE TORTILLA for the ribeye fajitas & the 3 small shrimp brochettes was $10.99! Now the food: -ribeye fajitas were good, soft meat & quite tasty. Rice was good. The portion was quite generous. It was pricey at $32.99. -beef tacos & chicken quesadillas were reportedly pretty good (I didn't taste) 3 crispy tacos & 4 nicely stuffed quesadilla pieces. -shrimp quesadillas- my favorite one - good size, flavorful, & cheesy. It came with a small box of guac, pico de gallo, & lettuce. -small bowl of seafood gumbo - meh, not horrible, but doesn't taste much like real gumbo with kinda watery roux. We were seated immediately and our server was so sweet and definitely very attentive, she was able to give us recommendations since it was our first time dining here and she didn't let us down! The ambiance was pretty chill, I like the random decor throughout the restaurant as it's a nice touch. I got a house margarita which was solid 4/5, chips and queso also 4/5, and we also got the fried ribs that were sooo good that I forgot to take a picture lol 5/5!!
