Oh dear. This was not it. This was as run down as I've seen a Holiday Inn for a very long time. The service was lackluster (although the young man who checked me in with a story about his dog was very nice) and nobody seemed particularly interested in anything above and beyond. Now, I can't hold it against this hotel the fact that Bakersfield is one of the armpits of our beautiful state of California, but it's worth mentioning that the smell outdoors is beyond gross. They also don't seem to have an efficient way of cooling the hallway and at one point it was in the high 90s, the elevators included. This fact made cooling down my individual room difficult. Which brings the next point, the ac struggled to keep pace and it sounded like a jetliner every time the thing kicked on. The floors were covered in goodness knows what and there appeared to be a blood stain on my comforter. I slept maybe two hours. The walls are paper thin and my neighbors were ridiculous. This Holiday Inn is not exactly up to the standards of the name. The room was ok but nothing new or special. The worst was the extra money we had to pay for a breakfast that is usually free. Nothing was warm enough and when I asked the server if there were any more of an item that was empty she huffed at me and took her time to bring out just enough for me and not my family. Walking right across the bed openly. Staff was gracious about it. Sent a maintenance guy to the room, who was very unsurprised at the sight of the bed bug. We spent last night at Holiday Inn and Suites in Bakersfield. The hotel is pleasant, clean and well located. Staff are very friendly. My one complaint is the Breakfast. It was worse than dismal. The coffee was not drinkable, the eggs at the buffet were burned, bacon greasy and under cooked and I had to ask for a replacement for the eggs.The so called breakfast was included in our room rate but I overheard a guest ask for the price if it wasn't included and he was told $22.00 pp. this breakfast was not $5.00. The young woman who was patrolling was very nice but clearly not in charge. The hotel looked well occupied, the breakfast not so much. I will not be eating there again. read more

Bed is comfortable. Staff are friendly. Eric at the bar is a must to say hello. His the BEST! Tell him to make an old fashioned drink. He does his magic! The the person that checked us in told us that breakfast was not available to us. But looking at the receipt it states breakfast is included. I would also like to state that it states the dining room is open from 5-10. My husband & I tried to go there at about 6:30. No one was there to greet us or seat us. But my husband did notice that there was a lady looking right at us. She just stood there and did nothing. This was not professional of her. This morning as we were sitting in our room. I used Expedia to book this room. I stayed here to attend a women's retreat that took place on property. Service was okay, although the front desk worker initially assigned me a room that was not made up. I had to go back to the lobby (carrying my bags) to get a new room. I booked a room with a King-size bed. I was disappointed that that particular room didn't have a refrigerator and microwave while others did. I had to use a friend's fridge who was staying down the hall from me, which was a little inconvenient. Also, the outlets on the nightstand lamps were not working. The room was fairly clean. One of my pillows smelled like someone's shampoo/hair product, which lead me to believe not all the pillowcases were changed out. Who knows, maybe the sheets weren't changed either - you never can tell! Also, there is a restaurant and bar downstairs. They serve an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet with limited options - eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, toast, water, coffee and orange juice. Definitely not worth the $18.95 they charge for breakfast. Honestly, I would recommend eating elsewhere for that price. Overall, I think there is room for improvement at this hotel. read more

Room was nice and clean. Staff was very friendly. Wife and I really enjoyed our breakfast buffet. I feel like they had all of the standards (bacon, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes), but everything was cooked like chef cared. Very flavorful and delicious. No steamed-like bacon or sausage, potatoes nicely crisped, eggs were delicious. Even the bagel I ran through the toaster came out perfect. I know a breakfast buffet at a hotel can be pretty uninspiring, but I felt the this breakfast was deliciously cooked with care. read more

We were welcomed at the front desk by Aly. A pleasant young woman who was very helpful and anxious to accommodate us. We had two rooms under our friend's name Louis Woodford. Aly sorted things out for us because we are both IHG Rewards members and she wanted to make sure both of us received credit for our stay. Very nice person. In the restaurant Eric was our server and bartender. What great young man who was unbelievably helpful. Answered all of our questions about the menu and took our orders while being the only person working in the restaurant this evening. Really worked hard to serve everyone in the restaurant and did a fabulous job. Always thought Holiday Inn was a step up from Holiday Inn Express. Not so in this case. The electrical outlets in all the lamps did not work. Had to move furniture to plug into wall outlets. One worked and one didn't. The fan in the bathroom was loud and annoying. One reason we stay at Holiday Inn Express is for the complimentary breakfast. Not here at a Holiday Inn. read more

This tiny reviews for the bar/lounge it had inside. It was a week night, so it was completely dead, but one other patron there talking to the bartender. Small but decent selection of booze & quiet atmosphere with multiple TVs. I'd go back there if we are out here again. They also have a happy hour-cheap drinks:). I did not have a chance to try the amenities but for the most part this hotel was clean (other than a spider in the bathroom.) Wish they had more coffee k Cups (instead of 1 regular) and more trash cans. We had a small kitchenette and there was no where to put trash other than in the bathroom. I'd still return next time I'm in town. read more

Stay was great, receptionist Upgraded our room to a suite without an extra fee! Suite was very nice, clean. Not much for soap, shampoo/ conditioner. The soap was less than half the size of a ping pong ball. And the shampoo/conditioner was one of each, certainly not enough for 2 adults. A cup of coffee is $3.50, just use the Keurig in the room and save your hard earned money . There is NO free breakfast. We were given a $10 voucher. The breakfast sandwich ($8.50), was an English muffin with a folded scrambled egg party with.. 2 sausages, not a patty . The sausages kept falling out! Overall stay was good, there was more than ample lighting in the parking lot. I knocked down 2 stars for the food, which I felt was less than satisfactory... the price was very reasonable compared to the other hotels down the block. read more

Disappointing, no mini fridge or microwave in standard rooms unlike Holiday Inn Express but can be delivered for free to room if available. Furniture upholstery and carpet had many stains. Drapes torn and wallpaper peeling. Single mattress on metal platform was hard as a rock, you could feel the inner springs and hear them squeak. The pillows were soft and comfortable. 50 inch television which was nice. Water and sodas are $5 in the lobby. limited breakfast menu, the Bakersfield Breakfast was very good and the service was excellent as was the staff at check-in. read more

Terrible experience. I booked a double queen bed room for a one night stay far in advance for a Saturday. Checked in, went up to our room to find one bed and a dirty pull out couch. Called the front desk to inquire and was told they had given the last double queen bed room away and there was nothing they could do. Had to call the front desk multiple times just to get a comforter to the room for the pull out bed. Half of the outlets didn't work. The room was dirty and stunk like cigarettes, so bad so my 11 year old even made a comment about it. In addition, the toilet wouldn't flush for over half the night. I was told I would get a call from the manager, "Kimmy" by Monday. Nothing. Had to call her all week, leave voicemails, not once did she call me back. Must be nice to be a manager but not have to manage anything. Every time I called I was given the run-a-round by a random person at the front desk. Finally got ahold of another manager named Evan, he said Kimmy wasn't there (AGAIN). Explained how I had been trying to get ahold of her and explained my issue. He assured me he would speak with the GM, and get back to me within 2 hours. Absolutely nothing. This place is a joke, their management is a joke, and by far the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. Don't stay here. read more

I was called on a business trip and booked my room online. Website was very user friendly, clearly outlined. Used my mobile app to "check in" remotely. Although my visit was short, I found it to be clean, comfortable, and uneventful. I highly recommend this hotel for your "home away from home feeling". The location is the reason that cost the Holiday Inn a start from perfect. I am a single female and I did not feel safe until I walked in. DIRTY!!!! After a 12 hour drive all one wants to do is get to their hotel room and crash. Well, when we checked in our first room they gave us and found beds unmade, tv blaring, trash everywhere! Ok, they gave us an unclean room, honest mistake. They gave us another room and we went to sleep. We woke the next morning to shower and get back on the road, while reaching for a towel to dry off with a note fell from the towel. (See picture) The note stated that if we found this note it meant the towels had not been changed and had been used!!!! You could understand our horror and disgust! We travel through Bakersfield A LOT and will NEVER stay here again! We told the front desk, but she said since we booked through priceline there was nothing she could do. If able to, view the rooms available at the Hotel before choosing one. Some rooms have modern furniture, some have new carpet, and some have the scent of cigareete smoke. Safer to wear sandals, slippers, or flip flops. I viewed four rooms before deciding on one. And for the prices that are being charged (modern prices ), it's important to get your monies worth. They don't have fridges and microwaves in all the rooms, you have to get there early to get them. Our room was dirty, bodily fluids, blood perhaps splattered in the bathroom and on walls. Our family (two adults with two kids).... Without doubt one of the favorite hotels we've stayed during our time in Bakersfield. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff, We were expected and upgraded to the One Bedroom Suite for being IHG Spire Elite members. The staff Ms Kapreisha, Valerie and Stephanie were extremely friendly. The hotel restaurant was very flexible with our requests (appreciate this!) and the restaurant supervisor deserves a special thanks. Overall, we had a great stay here, which obviously also added up to the experience. Rooms are super clean. See photos. Plus our two kids enjoyed the warm indoor pool in the afternoon. The hotel staff had such a warm personality and are very highly motivated. I truly enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Note, this is not a 4/5-star hotel or so, but the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. All respect for the general manager (Kelsy) who does a great job here; a true sample of excellent hospitality! Excellent stay with clean, comfortable rooms! Everything felt new and updated and the hotel had a very modern vibe. They had a computer room as well. The morning breakfast was great, complete with yogurt (the good kind, Chobani!), cereals, hot foods - bacon, sausage, biscuits+gravy, eggs, omelettes, pancakes and Cinnabon! My only complaint was the front check-in staff person wasn't all too friendly. They do take a credit card for a deposit. I tried asking why since I paid ahead of time, but she had one word answers and was very weird and not friendly about my questions. They also gave us a room that was still being cleaned so we had to wait outside for a while. Other than that, the rest of the stay was great, would stay again! read more

My room 201 was gross. The carpet needed a deep cleaning or needed to be removed. It had stains on it. I spent over $150 and my room didn't come with a mini fridge, a tub/shower combo (it only came with an old shower stall) or any bottled water I could purchase. Bakersfield is supposed to be cheap. This place was run down yet didn't offer any modern amenities that should have come with the price of the room. I'm not expecting a mini bar, but a luggage rack to set my suitcase on would have been nice, and a tub to soak in would have come in handy too after so much traveling. There's a spot in the wallpaper where they cut it out and glued it over a tear or stain. So ghetto. It doesn't blend at all. The furniture has scuffs where they tried touching it up but it looks terrible. Also, I requested a quiet room while booking AND while checking in. At 7am I was woken up to my next door neighbor's toddlers screaming and throwing a temper tantrum. I could hear everything through the thin walls. For the price I paid I got Motel 8 quality. read more

This hotel has a really nice appearance. It looks modern and relatively new. The rooms are good size and for the most part clean. Our room had two queen beds with a coffee maker, tv and blow dryer. If you need a fridge or microwave they are an additional $10 per day each, or at least that is what is says in the information binder. Yes I actually read it. We were greeted by the hotel clerk and she handed us a complimentary snack pack, one per room, which if you have kids will be a problem, because it includes one bottle of water and one granola bar, which of course when there is only one and more than one kid, it will cause problems. I decided to stay here based on all the yelp reviews, most said it was clean and comfortable, no one complained of bed bugs or noise. Well there were NOT any bed bugs, but the sheets made me quite itchy all night, I don't know if that is from the detergent they use to clean the sheets, that has never happened to me before. And for the noise, we were on the forth floor and whenever they would roll the carts down the hallway the whole floor would vibrate, well sorry I guess that isn't really a noise, but more of an irritant. I was first woken up by a railroad crossing, then I was woken up a second time by the dumpster pick up and then I was woken up by the loud heating fan, even thought we had selected the heating fan off on the control unit. So simply stated: Pros: clean and comfortable Cons: loud and itchy Price... you tell me, it was $90 for a night. read more

Like other reviewers have said, it's very clean. The shower was really big, too, and had a solid glass door. The staff was very friendly and getting a late check out was no problem. In fact, the late check out was at 2, which was really late. We also ate breakfast at the place downstairs, which has TVs at each booth. Service there was cordial and quick, and the food was typical diner-style breakfast fare. It can be a bit noisy-- either several people were running around like elephants, or the walls/floors are thin. Even my husband noticed it and he usually doesn't notice stuff like that. PROS *Keurig in the room for all of us coffee crazies! *The rooms are very clean. *The beds are soooo comfy and have lots of pillows (yay!) *When I saw the staff I was always greeted with a smile and a hello. *Really nice, fully equipped gym. *Right next to a yummy Mexican restaurant with daily deals and awesome staff. *Good Wifi. *Right next to the arena. So, the customer service is great but when it comes to the rooms... eehh. So the room we got over the 4th of July weekend, we had little roaches. At first we thought okay there is on on the wall just kill it and it's okay but we didn't think it would be more than one.. I took this photo of the person sleeping until I noticed there was bugs on the bed too. They crawl everywhere and it could of got into the person's ear or I don't know their nose but when we reported this all we got was "oh my god how embarrassing" as a response, I knew nothing was going to be done and it's already paid for so... I mean at least try and say hey we can get you another room or just something but to get a how embarrassing answer? I guess they are use to it and don't really care maybe it's just the owner who doesn't care and the front desk can't do much. Come on, it's not cheap and shouldn't it be a okay hotel?! read more

Staff was excellent and the only saving grace. Unfortunately This isn't my first time at this rodeo. It always comes on the heels of the Ag show where you can't find a room under $500 that's worth sleeping in, within 100 miles of Tulare. This place is dark, dank and has the strangest elevators and stairs (those from which you'll never be able to reach the lobby, they land you outside, in some remote part of the hotel, not near where you, or anyone, parked). Low ceilings, some dropped with set ins that you saw in the 80's, Brown, yellow, gold and just yuck. So glad this is for a quickie. read more

I was glad that one room at last minute booking wasn't too terrible. I booked for July 14th 2017 for one night, got room 214. I'm part of their rewards club so the room was discounted to only $83.00 for one night for two beds. Parking was plenty and checking-in was very efficient with the staff as well as very nice and accommodating to our needs. The lady at the front desk even allowed us to park in the front because we had inquired if they could keep an eye on it since we were hauling some precious cargo. Our rooms were very clean and loved how comfy the beds were. There were even soft and firm type pillows (labeled on the side) if you have a preference on pillows (boyfriend and I both prefer firm pillows). The hotel has its own indoor pool and workout area as well, from what I hear the workout room is open 24 hours a day! Albeit only problem we had was with the upstairs people whom partied all fucking night long that we barely got to sleep which I should've notified the front desk about. :/ read more
