The lack of basic management, service, and maintenance at this location made for an unacceptable stay. First, housekeeping was virtually nonexistent. Our room was left completely uncleaned for two consecutive days. When we brought it to the front desk's attention after the first night, we were assured it would be taken care of, yet nothing was done. Second, basic supplies were constantly withheld. We had 4 guests registered on our reservation and asked daily at the front desk for 4 towels. Every single day, we were only given 3. When I finally asked our housekeeper directly for a fourth towel, she told me the hotel was actively "rationing towels." To top it all off, we had no hot water in our room the third night. Dealing with a cold shower, a dirty room two days in a row, and being told that basic bath towels are being rationed is completely unacceptable and unsatisfactory for any hotel. Save yourself the headache and book elsewhere. I'll never be back. read more

We ended up in Bangor unexpectedly and needed a place to stay. With no car, the shuttle picked us up from the airport we checked in and then got shuttled to dinner by the river and back. Then shuttled back to airport to leave the next morning. We never used the elevator so the journey to find it was lost on us We took the stairs and our room was close. Very clean and updated room. The lobby was updated and had a cooler with some snacks if needed and a business center with computer and printer. Coffee in the lobby wasn't great. We skipped breakfast and just went nextdoor to Dunkin. Overall, great unexpected time in Bangor mostly thanks to the hotel, recommendations for dinner/brewery by the shuttle driver, and five stars for the shuttle service! Second visit, this time we had an updated room. Pet friendly, the pet rooms seemed clean and fresh enough. Pet fee was $30, didn't hear a peep from any other dogs, and my dog didn't "find" a hot spot from a previous canine guest as he walked the room checking it out. Bathroom was modern and fresh and properly clean. Wifi was free and stout, window blinds were a bit balky and clunky which was an issue as we were on the ground floor. Parking lots seem quite dark and murky. Staff was quick and cordial at checkin. No complimentary breakfast, awesome views, endearing architecture, or glamorous lobby to linger in, just a nice plain generic stay with clean sheets and a shower with peace and quite. Not a value champion, but for Maine in vacation season, we checked out without bruising our wallet. read more

My room is clean. The staff have been friendly & helpful. The shuttle driver, Mike, is the absolute best!!! I needed to get to a craft store for a needle and he so willingly jumped to help me out. Then brought me to an amazing restaurant. He should get compensated from that restaurant. I can only imagine how many people to talked into going there. We stayed here for a concert in Bangor and it was a decent hotel. I would give it 3 stars. It was clean, and the staff was super friendly. They even have a shuttle that runs back and forth to the concert venue. The bad thing about the shuttle is they only have 2, sometimes 1 late at night and with everyone trying to get the shuttle after the concert you have to wait a reallyyyy long time (due to only 8 seats and the traffic). Not the hotels fault but maybe have more drivers on. There is a bar with decent food down in the hotel so if you want dinner you don't have to leave the hotel. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is it needs major renovations. I am sure at one point this hotel was great but it needs so updates. For the price point, I was expecting better but all hotels in the Bangor during concert season are very expensive. Location is very close to downtown and the airport. read more

Maybe I was just lucky for my stay at this hotel near the interstate in Bangor. I found everything satisfactory in my room: cold AC, new furniture and comfortable bed with crisp clean sheets. I did not use the restaurant but enjoyed complimentary coffee in the lobby. Staff were friendly and attentive. To Hike Great Smokey Mountains Nat'l Park! Located in a great lil town like Bangor and was not ripped off by 18% ! They had a open pool and gym! They had a restaurant w breakfast & dinner! Also located about same from Nat'l Parks too. I also had a bigger room w 2 beds. Made my reservation w holiday inn too! I will not use a booking site they rip people off. I deserved a better explanation to what the 18% was for. But got "for incidentals" that's all. That's not a proper response. I've already picked where I'm staying in September 2021. There aren't a lot of lodging choices in Bangor, so we figured we couldn't go wrong with a Holiday Inn. Yes and no. No, because they try... their breakfast buffet is decent and the staff is outstanding. The rooms are fairly generous suites and well laid out. But no, because the deal breaker for us is that it's simply been remodeled, covering over all the old stuff. It should actually be gutted imo. The hallways are hideous, and the remodeling just didn't succeed in covering up the old ugly. Our stay wasn't awful; it just wasn't what we're used to with this hotel chain. read more

I really don't like leaving 5 stars for hotels but I feel this location went above and beyond for me. I was in town for 2 nights due to Delta having a pilot issue on the second day so I was able to stay another night. The lady @ check in ( her husband drove the van ) for the life of me k can't remember her name & I do apologize for that. She was an Angel and went way out of her way to accommodate me. I do have a spire membership with IHG so I don't know if that helped my cause but my experience here was awesome. She put me in 346 that's way in the back of this huge hotel. The room was massive. Full kitchen and all the items u would need to make whatever u need for an extended stay. Both the living room & the bedroom had large TVs. The king bed was have and plush just like I like it. The shower was huge & I wanted to rip that awesome back lit mirror off the wall and take it home because my wife would love to have it. I wasn't able to get breakfast because I left @ 3:50am for my flight. I would no doubt stay here again read more

This hotel is in dire need of renovation. Looks like they tried some bandaids at some point and failed miserably. Hallways are horrible and room isn't much better. Dated furniture is damaged. A coat of paint can't fix this place. This needs a gut job. read more

The hotel is in the process of a renovation. We stayed on the 3rd floor and there is a HUGE difference in the hallways. First floor looked very tired but the third was bright and clean. I have no idea if the first-floor rooms are updated, ours was. They did a nice job too. From the looks it was recently updated, new bath and sink and they were SPOTLESS. Kudos the staff. Rooms were quiet and beds comfy. There is no place (that we found) close by for eating. I am not a BIG fan of any hotel food, so we passed. There a few grocery stores close (less than a 10-minute drive) and I am sure some restaurants were close by as well - asked the front desk as they always know! NO breakfast coupons to be had so we skipped the $11 meal. In fact, never set foot in the lounge or dinning area so can't comment on that. I stay at Holiday Inns because (for the most part), I know am getting and I enjoy the IHG points. This hotel was a typical property so no surprises. I did see several flight crew checking in and out and that's always a good sign. read more

I would NOT have stayed at this lodging had my employer not reimbursed for the expense. (There are several lodgings surrounding the airport that are cheaper). This lodging is suited to business travelers especially those accessing the AIRPORT. Full on breakfast with a menu prepared to suite. Beds are firm. Our shower water is hot and had a message setting which was healing. INDOOR POOL is hard to beat in Maine anytime of year. The staff is professional and friendly. The room was really very clean , comfy and restful . Price point was great and staff was "on it" in every area that we observed . They don't offer a breakfast included in the price, though . The restaurant is in the hotel , so a close walk from the room . Dinner was yummy . The bar was WAY too loud with the typical "bar scene" so we requested to sit in the closed dining area . (Not everyone wants a noisy meal .:) They obliged and brought us delicious food ! Try the fish n chips ! Price was average to other hotel restaurants and we enjoyed the meal . Breakfast wasn't so hot . They comped our meal after my breakfast wrap literally leaked a pool of water in my plate , absorbed with a napkin . We didn't have the heart to tell the server about the HAIR on my husbands food . He chose to finish only his toast . The server was a hard worker and brewed decaf just for me :) I had no clue it wasn't standard in hotel restaurants anymore . We thought you got both regular and decaf without special request . Who knew ?!?! The hotel IS a do again and the dinner might be , IF they open the dining room . Then at 8 am they started moving heavy equipment around and it was beeping then from 8:30 on they were hammering. The room was not the cleanest and ran down. When you check in here the Front Desk person will hand you a bottle of water. That seems quite common under you discover that you'll desperately needed this water to stay hydrated while you try to find your room! * The building configuration is about a weird as I've ever seen. The elevator is about a mile from the lobby. You'll need the map, your GPS, a lot of luck and your water. By the time you find just the elevator you'll be sucking on that H2O! * Finding your room is the next problem. The signage is not that great. On the trek to my room I passed a family of four. Both the kids were crying. The wife was yelling at the husband. "Twenty F(ing) minutes and you can't even find our F(ing) room! * I passed a guy and his girlfriend just barely conscious lying in the corner of a hallway. They were too dehydrated to continue. I gave them each a sip of my precious H2O. They staggered to their feet and continued. * This Hotel has a really great bar called Pete & Larry's. It's right next to the front desk so everybody can find it! The bartenders are great and the drinks are inexpensive. The problem is that nobody wants to leave because they can't find their room! When everybody finally leaves you can imagine the disaster. Fifty drunken guests trying to find rooms that they couldn't find sober! * When you finally do get to your room the first thing you do is rehydrate. Next you notice that they are spotless and that the beds are comfortable. They should be clean and nice because very few people ever find them! The shower pressure is fine and the TVs are decent. It's a very fine budget hotel room. * As you head hits the pillow for the night you set your alarm an hour early so you'll have time to find the lobby and coffee. The next morning you finally stagger up to the front desk to check out. The clerk asks you how you liked your room. You laugh hysterically and make a mental note to give them a 4 star review because it really is a very nice hotel. read more

After hours of driving & being tired from pregnancy, I finally get there and the "manager" says I can't stay because of Covid policies. No valid reason at all!! Save your money and go to Marriott. The layout of the hotel (you may note a theme in the reviews) is so odd! Built with multiple (required) outdoor 'hallways' it's confusing at best and inconvenient (it's cold out!) The staff did not offer any assistance (verbal or otherwise) to find my room and it was an adventure. The hotel offered a standard room, spacious- clean and welcoming enough- but the walls were paper thin (read: I know a LOT about my fellow travelers that I would have been fine not knowing) Overall, an interesting evening but not my most comfortable stay. read more

This hotel was a honey trap. Initially this hotel was the only one with vacancies of at least five hotels during a high demand period. Later on it was clear why it had availability. I waited over four hours for my room as did 23 of my coworkers when we were previously told there were vacancies for all of us. Staff member was ver wrong. After that we collectively incurred nine independent accounts of theft from our rooms on six separate occasions. The rooms were mostly uncleaned including pubic hair, unidentified gooey substance in the shower, feces in the toilet, and blood on the bed sheets. Also, the guest laundry was inoperative. The washing machine locked out requiring maintenance action and keys. Washed laundry wasn't rinsed. Then dryer could not handled damp clothes. This hotel should be a last option for anyone looking for refuge. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE NO CHIOCE. read more

It was horrible first I walk in and killed two roaches then when I took a shower a towel was dirty and stained like puke and when I told them upon check out the lady said I was lying and started to raise her voice and stood up. then after they over charged my credit card and when I called was so rude and said they didn't and it could take three days even though 15 dollars had been returned but n0t the other thirty like wow no such thing as customer service anymore its sickening!!! I'll agree with previous posters who mentioned the slightly awkward setup and having to go in and out of the building to access some parts. The pool was closed for reno when we came through, so sad, but I bet it will be nice when it's completed. KYou're supposed to leave a hotel feeling rested, right? I'm pretty sure that's the goal, but that couldn't be farther from the truth this morning and we make the final leg home on our week-long vacation, thanks to Holiday Inn Bangor. Let's start with the good things - the room was large, clean and check-in was quick. It all went downhill from there. Our room was in the middle of a large block occupied by teens. This was bad enough as they were banging doors and running up and down the hallway, but then came the knocking on our door, which woke my husband. Excusing it as a mistake, because no one was there, we went back to bed. Then it happened again so I called the front desk. When it happened a third time, my husband opened the door to two chaperones who thought it was one of their rooms. I called the front desk AGAIN. Did they apologize when I called the desk? Yes. Did someone come upstairs? Yes. Did the noise stop. No. Doors banged all night long. At 6:45 in the morning, kids and chaperones all gathered right outside our door for a morning meeting. It. Was. Ridiculous. I understand that kids are kids and the hotel staff was at the mercy of the chaperones. I don't blame them for that. However, we should not have been put in that room to begin with. When we were, we should have been notified that there was a block of teens around us and given the opportunity to move. The hotel staff AND chaperones should have TRIPLE checked their lists before knocking on doors and finally, when all that was going on, SOMEONE should've at LEAST asked us if we wanted to change rooms. I'm just sayin'. Update - I just spoke with the GM. (She wasn't available when we checked out.) She was very nice and apologized, acknowledging they should've offered a different room when we checked in. She also offered to refund our stay, which is nice. I just wish that could also make me feel less sleepy this morning. read more

As a Priority Club Member, I stay in Holiday Inn's quite often. I've stayed in them all over the country and when I moved back to Maine, I was kind of dreading going back up to the Bangor HI, thinking it wouldn't live up to the other ones I had seen in the past couple years. Well, they have renovated and it looks great! Very nice staff, kind of a weird set up (having to go outside to get to and from some areas), but nicely appointed rooms and big flat screen TVs. I'm happy to stay there again knowing it's been all renovated! Now I only wish they hadn't closed the Waterville one. :( read more

So many bad things to write about this hotel. But the worst of them all is the management and how they treat their customers. 1. The fire alarm was tripped and broken by a someone early in the morning. The alarm went off twice and I could not get any sleep for my long drive back the next day. I understand that is out of control of the hotel staff. But it is managements job to keep the guests happy after such an inconvenience. There is one particular manager named HARVEY who was inconsiderate, rude and dismissive about the situation. I asked HARVEY if he could do anything to make the stay better and all he said was NO. I think he chose to forget about the promise that Holiday Inn makes to their guests which states the following: "Hospitality Promise Making your stay a complete success is our goal. Just let our Manager on Duty or front desk staff know if any part of your stay isn't satisfactory. We promise to make it right or you won't pay for that part of your stay." I've posted this picture of their promise to this review. However I have to give credit to the front desk staff named VICTORIA who was much better at handling the situation and was able to help by offering a complimentary breakfast. I think VICTORIA should be promoted to manager and HARVEY should be demoted to cleaning toilets. 2. The bed was very small for two people. We slept on a full size bed when many hotels that I've stayed offered at least a Queen sized bed. 3. The heating system is old and broken. It gives off heat for 30 minutes and after that it is like an air conditioner. The only good thing about this review is that the pool was very nice, warm and big and was great to swim in. read more

Holy airplane noise! It's by the airport and planes were flying overhead all night - something I didn't realize until it was too late. Traffic noise, too. Just loud in general. This Holiday Inn allows pets to stay for FREE - a big plus for us as we were traveling with our two small dogs. It's clean but is in need of updates - the rooms were just fine, but not great. Being a Priority Club member I figured why not a Holiday Inn? Wrong. Everything felt old and dirty. Sheets were clammy, dead bugs are littered throughout the walls and ceiling, and to top it all we were awakened by a blazing fire alarm at 8 in the morning. Although the lobby looks like they have spent some time updating it, they certainly have done nothing to the rooms. The beds are hard, the windows were so drafty that there was ice on the INSIDE of the room, the toilet was clogged, housekeeping came in in the morning and made the bed & gave clean towels but did nothing else, no vacuuming, no trash removal...nothing. Our room became flooded with a nasty smell, upon investigating we found that people were smoking marijuana. Definitely NOT a place for families. Questionable for anyone else. read more

This is the worst Holiday Inn I've ever stayed at (and I've stayed at at least several dozen). They accepted my full-price Priceline reservation for a standard room only to put me (and an infant and child) in a tiny room with a single double bed and full view of construction immediately outside the window. Because it was 1 AM and I was traveling alone with children with no car coming from the airport I had no choice but to accept. I'll be sure to advise my friends and family in Maine to stay away from this hotel. I don't care if there is a concert--don't sell people's reserved rooms. Beyond disappointing. read more
