You get what you pay for at this Holiday Inn. I stayed here in a room block for a wedding. I originally booked for Thursday to Sunday but had a change of plans so we didn't check in until Friday. I called the hotel a heads up and they helped me update my reservation. On Friday when we tried checking in around 2:30 pm, we were told we had to wait until 3 pm even after letting them know we were there for the wedding room block. We asked if we could leave our bags to which the employee stated, there are plenty of places at the lobby to leave them. Umm what? Maybe he misheard but we asked again and he took them to the back. We came back after 3 pm and check in was fine. The employee who helped us check in failed to include breakfast vouchers for us, but didn't really care for hotel food. Our room was updated but the shower was not very well cleaned. There was hair in the shower. The gym was decent and had everything I needed to exercise. The floors were dirty at all times of the day. You often see people housekeeping but not here. It's an okay hotel if you'd rather pay cheap. It is around restaurants and stores so that's a plus. Tons of parking spaces too. read more

Based on the past reviews, it looks like they've improved their game significantly. We came to check out the eclipse in Ohio and this was the closed we could get to the path since we didn't plan ahead. Very clean and super friendly staff. Hotel and rooms were in good condition. Dinner was fair, my husband took a gamble and ordered the steak, which was too thin to really take a temp, he said the asparagus and potatoes were great. My burger was decent even though they ran out of tomato and the lettuce looked like it was cooked with the burger. Breakfast buffet was nearly empty when we arrived, but was eventually restocked. The standout of the experience was the staff. Everyone there were super attentive and seemed genuinely happy to help you, which always makes for a good experience. Overall 4 out of 5 read more

It's the stains for me... Upon entering the hotel, it's very welcoming. However, we checked in after 3pm (we were in town for a wedding), and were given 'whatever they had left,' according to one of the receptionists at the front desk. The carpets and furniture were clearly stained with only God knows what... The bed seemed ok, but we bought our own sheets to place over what they had on the bed already. I should note the bed skirt was also stained. The only upside is that they have a restaurant and bar inside the hotel. I didn't experience the food or drinks but others said it was decent. All in all, with this being a chain hotel, you would expect that they have some sort of in-house upholstery and carpet cleaning devices so there aren't stains all over the place. Also, later in the evening I noticed a cigarette smoke smell in the lobby that lingered for hours. read more

Well, I was here for the Eater buffet with my family, and it was pretty good. I tried the carved ham, which was flavorful and plentiful, as well as the Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, and mashed sweet potatoes. Everything was above average. I especially enjoyed the banana cake dessert. Everyone working there was very friendly, from the front desk staff when I walked into the hotel, to the servers, to the guy carving the meats. The server told us they had well over 600 reservations today (!), but it didn't seem terribly crowded while we were there. It did get pretty busy as we were leaving, and I was happy to have beat that rush. I appreciated the variety of food, and for a buffet the quality was pretty decent. I can't review the rooms as I have not stayed there. I do know that the remolding is close to completion and the appearance of the hotel in general is a lot better. I can however speak about an event I recently helped to organize and attend there. We were worried because of the construction and previous experiences eating there - but this Holiday Inn came through with phenomenal service and delicious food that exceeded all of our expectations, even the food's presentation and set up was great. The event management and staff were fantastic to work with and very accommodating. I can't say enough great things about this hotel and we can't wait to come back when the full restaurant is open. INFESTED WITH BED BUGS. I wish I wouldve checked yelp before staying here. I also had a terrible experience with bed bugs. They then moved me to a room that was not cleaned (crusty towels and empty lotion bottles were left out in the new room). I tried following up with the manager Glenn and he has not responded to any of my emails or calls. I am escalating to corporate to see what happens....I have been a loyal IHG customer for years. One great perk about this hotel is the shuttle service. I stayed here for a conference that was at the Football Hall of Fame. Roy, one of the shuttle drivers, was very friendly and was able to pick me up and drop me off as needed during my stay. He also shuttled me to and from the airport. As for my room, it included a microwave, fridge, desk, love seat with coffee table, and a king bed. Bed was decent but not great. I did have a lot of trouble with opening my door and thought I would never get in so that would have become more of a nuisance if I stayed longer. The staff at the front desk were friendly and check-in went smoothly. No complaints here. At the front, they also have freezers with mini pizzas, water, and soda as well as other snacks and toiletries if you need anything once you get to the hotel. The Holiday Inn was an older hotel, but clean. It had a great shower and my room had a surprisingly comfortable couch. I thought the hotel was just as expected, but I really did not sleep well in the hotel. The bed was very comfortable, but the room was very noisy. Between a VERY LOUD, old heater unit (which also desperately needed a new filter and a dusting), the refrigerator, and an unknown, persistent noise throughout the night, it was impossible to sleep. Otherwise, the hotel was as expected. The lobby was a hubbub of activity and had a restaurant, although I can't speak to the quality of the establishment. It had an exercise room, pool, and business center, but I also did not use those. The hotel is located in a fairly busy commercial area, so there were many places to eat neaby, including a Starbucks, Chic-Fil-A, and Friendly's within near walking distance. read more

One of the dirtiest hotels I've ever stayed in. Even the security guard said he'd never sleep here. Half the building is under construction (fine okay...some stuff is a turn of the head). But I can't turn my head to the fact that I had roaches crawling on my ceiling. switched rooms with a double bed...one of the beds sheets hadn't been changed and the floor had dirt, left over food and candy wrappers left behind. Unless you just HAVE TO....dont stay here. pay the extra money for peace of mind elsewhere. The property is being renovated, so we saw both ends of the spectrum. The lobby and common areas are impressive. Our room was on the second floor- newly renovated. Attractive but still VERY cramped. The hot water wasn't hot. I tried to call the front desk and the phone wouldn't call the front desk. I was told to let the water run for 20 minutes. 45 minutes later we complained again and were told it was just the time of the evening, and it would be better in the morning. We were given free breakfast. No hot water the next morning, so we moved to a non-renovated room on the first floor. We were given another free breakfast and told we would be given 5,000 points. Of course the points never showed up. There were multiple other small issues not worth describing here. But throughout the stay no one ever checked on us after we talked. The problems with the water were bad. The lack of follow through or empathy were inexcusable. read more

The first room was not what I booked and the first question out of the mouth of guest devices was, "did you mess up the bed"? The second room had a slow moving toilet. It clogged twice. This place is horrible. You walk in thinking it going to be this great experience. Man was I wrong, I woke up this morning to make a cup of coffee and there where no cups to my coffee in. So, that sucked. I thought since I can't have a coffee I might as well have a shower. So I turned on the shower and the water pressure was amazing, so amazing that it must have blown the shower head away. The SHOWER WAS MISSING THE SHOWER HEAD. Like OMG. So I called down stairs to see what he hell is going on. This woman had the nerve to tell me that she tried calling us many many times and left messages because they wanted to move our room. The funny thing is the phone never rang and no one knew what was actually going on. But it's not that big of deal, I was only on the way to my grandfathers funeral. So, did they comp me or offer me anything for this inconvenience on the day of my grandfathers funeral no. They acted like it was my fault and sent a maintenance man up to my room to fix the shower. If this place wasn't bad enough, the maintenance man told me all I have to do is screw it on!!!! This place is a polished turd, with extra turd on the side. Stayed here for one night. All things considered I was definitely disappointed in the quality of the stay for the price. Wanted a really nice hotel and not a cheap roach motel so chose to stay here even with the high price. Room was clean I have no issues with that. The cleaning staff does a good job. Some problems we had were the door handle being slightly broken so key card took a million tries to get into the room. The window had curtains but only the white ones closed so all lights from the road outside shined into our room all night. Bathroom had no fan. Other biggest complaint was the breakfast. It was "included" in price of the stay but it's not a normal hotel breakfast. It's a more formal sit down restaurant type and you get a menu with several items that are priced more than what the voucher is that you get. The food was ok but nothing special. Service was bad. One person in my group just got tired of waiting 25 mins just to get order taken and left without eating. It was not busy at all. Overall it wasn't a totally terrible experience. But for $200.00 for just one night I was expecting quite a bit better. Pretty disappointing. read more

Went to the Easter buffet for the first time and was more than disappointed. The food was below average at best, and the variety in the buffet was laughable. Can't remember a worse experience at a holiday buffet. We were a table of 5 in a depressing "banquet" room who all agreed we would have had a better experience at Golden Corral. Not only was the price ridiculous for the quality and selection in the "buffet", our bill included an 18% gratuity, which was maybe the most ridiculous part of the experience. There was absolutely NO service. We had to ask repeatedly for waters when we were seated and then didn't see anyone again to refill drinks or clear plates until the end of the meal when we were presented with the bill. As I stood there checking in I observed other customers receiving pretty good service as I was just an after thought. Once we got to the room, I was severely disappointed. This hotel has a horrible way of notifying standing reservations that the hotel will be closed, and their manager, Melissa, needs to take a customer service training course. My husband tried to check-in for his standing reservation on 8/6 only to find out the hotel was closed to anyone that was not affiliated with the Hall of Fame Game. I simply called to find out what was going on, and how this could be avoided in the future. Melissa was very stand-offish, and rather than apologizing for the miscommunication she decided to state that without a doubt EVERYONE was informed. When I asked how this was done, she said it was verbally to the customer, and once again said EVERYONE was informed. WOW Melissa...what a foolproof system. Verbally advising guests and keeping no record, or sending no email is definitely a great way of handling things, and making sure no one is stranded in a city where there is no hotel to be had within an hour. All I was looking for was an "I'm sorry", and find out the best way to make sure this doesn't happen to him again. Even to the very end of the conservation when I pointed all this out to her, that I really just wanted sympathy, she still couldn't cough up an "I'm sorry". How is she a manager of anything? We used priceline for the first time on this hotel. Got a great dael ($50/night). Rooms were recently renovated which was nice, and everything in the rooms was clean and new. I think that once the renovations are complete this hotel will be on par with newer Holiday Inn products nationwide. During construction and renovation however, the property is not fantastic. Construction started early and even though we were in a part of the building that was away from that work, you could still hear it. Curtains oddly and inexplicably had small holes in them that allowed sunlight through. The best part of this hotel is undoubtedly the location which is walking distance from any restaurant or shopping need you might have. There are better hotels nearby, but I believe they will be competitive just as soon as the renovations are complete. read more

TL;DR This is a very old hotel and it's obvious, the restaurant is horrible, and I I won't be staying here again. I have stayed in a lot of IHG hotels because I travel frequently for work. This is easily the worst one I've ever stayed in. This is an old hotel and it shows. As other reviewers noted the hotel is under construction. I did not find that to be a problem during my stay. Everything is well signed to find your way around even though it's a long walk from the lobby to the elevator. I can forgive this given it's under going renovations. The room was clean and appeared to have the standard items expected in Holiday Inn (microwave, refrigerator, Keurig). The mattresses appeared to be new and we're comfortable enough. The staff was friendly as I've come to expect of this brand. Now for the bad. My room smelled like a funeral home and was inexplicably missing a shower curtain. I would like to give the staff the benefit of the doubt and assume they would have fixed this had I needed to take a shower. But it was certainly odd. The tub drain was also incredibly slow. All of the lights in the room were incredibly yellow and since the ceilings are low it gave the room a very uncomfortable feel. The worst part was the food at the restaurant. I ordered a salad and it came with a spoiled avocado and mango. Not to mention the entire thing was warm when it eventually arrived at the table. I'm not sure why it would be difficult to make a plate of lettuce cold. My coworker ordered the chicken tenders which were likely microwaved but passable. The hotel's location is good, but since there are a lot of other places to stay in this area I can't recommend staying here. read more

We have been coming to North Canton for years for schooling and have no choice on what hotel we stay in. So we have seen first hand how much this hotel has improved for the better. I am definitely impressed. The lobby is beautifully decorated and very stylish now. The restaurant and bar area is updated and inviting. The pool, which used to be an outdoor pool, is now indoors. As much as we enjoyed the pool outdoors in the summer, we were always bummed we couldn't swim in the winter. Now we can. The pool area is updated as well. The other area that used to be an issue for me was the slow internet connections at this hotel. We are not having any issues with bandwidth this time. The rest of the hotel is slowly being renovated and I am sure will be just as nice as the areas they have completed. read more

We stayed here for our anniversary recently because it is a full service hotel & we liked the band that was playing that weekend in the lounge... We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We were treated like royalty. From the moment we checked in at the front desk, to the bartender in the lounge, to the waitress at the breakfast the next morning, to the chef who prepared our yummy Stuffed French toast & our surprise room service tray of goodies - they are all top notch & go above & beyond the call of duty. We can't wait to go back next month & use the airport shuttle... BTW the remodeling didn't affect us in the least and I'm sure it's going to be a great addition to the hotel once completed. read more

Had my room block for my wedding here and the customer service was okay, but there were so many difficulties dealing with their staff. Not only were half of my gift bags not passed out, but when we went back to pick up the remaining gift bags the next day (I told them I would be back for the 15 that were left) there were only 6 left and of the six that were left they were all picked over and half of the stuff was missing in addition to the itinerary I added, meaning they took them out and were planning on giving them to staff or other guests. The bar also attracts a very different crowd at night and my guests were being a bit harassed by the people that frequented the bar. Also, we got double charged for several of the rooms. After booking almost 40 rooms with them we got nothing in return but a bad experience. read more

Call and make sure their renovations are complete before staying here. We were woken up two mornings of our stay by a giant excavator right outside our window removing what appears to have formerly been an in-ground swimming pool. WHY they are still selling courtyard rooms when this is going on is beyond me. The hotel did not appear full by any means based on the number of guests I saw and the number of cars in the parking lot. I would not stay here unless I could ensure no heavy machinery would be waking me up at 7:30 a.m. every morning. Too bad because otherwise it is a nice hotel. read more
