Great hotel!! The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable! We have a great view of the inlet and ocean. Walkable distance less than 5 minutes to the beach. Surrounded by shops and restaurants also within a very short distance. Jimmy's fish house was their restaurant on property and it was a fun time! Good drinks and food. Pool area was a bit small but still worked out fine. The hotel overall It is a bit dated but I like it. Kind of cozy and nostalgic. Small improvements could be made here and there but this isn't a luxury 5 star place. One thing was the game room should be open late past 8pm!! I was disappointed I wanted to go play some games but it was closed at 8. Anyway, this hotel worked out well for our one night little staycation. Highly recommend!

This hotel is waterfront on the bay inlet is I guess how you would explain it. If you walk down a little ways there's a small private beach and we love it. It doesn't get overcrowded like the main beach and there's tons of shells, dolphins and stingrays to be seen. When we checked in we had the sweetest girl Aide she was so nice. She switched our rooms to 2 beds from one. She also hand cut the decorations for the front desk!! So cute! The key card machine was not working which wasn't really a big deal they sent someone immediately to let you in. So it didn't bother us. The only thing they've changed lately is you have to wear wristbands around the pool. I put mine on my bag and they were ok with it. Everyday they came by and also asked your room number. Kind of annoying, if I have my wristband showing just leave me alone please!

Ate these fabulous salads for lunch upon arrival, they have a salad spot downstairs within the lobby Vicinity. Definitely filling and healthy! Check them out, the front desk will point you in the right direction.

We decided to do a short over-nighter on the west coast over a recent weekend - these stays usually involve the beach, great food and lots of alcohol so driving after check-in is minimal, so the location is so important. I'm a Spire Rewards member with IGH Properties so they comped the room then upgraded us to a suite during check-in - well the suite on the 7th floor was actually two hotel adjoining rooms converted to a "suite" so there's two entrance doors off the hallway and two full bathrooms - one room set up with dual queen size beds the other room set up as a living area. Ok it was poorly executed but I do appreciate the effort and it was for one night so it worked fine and it was clean. The check-in process was painless and they did thank me for my loyalty and added some additional stay bonus points to my account. I didn't really take advantage of any of the hotel perks so I can't speak of those, although it's always nice to stay where there's a bar and restaurant onsite - being the hotel is located on the water the patio is spacious and is very accommodating especially for family stays - two pools, a few outdoor games, sun deck, tiki-bar and game room. The parking garage is attached to "The Edge" Hotel and is twenty dollars a night and although it's possible to find a space in front of the hotel for the same price it's really unlikely - seems these spaces are taken up early with beach parking (they pay the $20 fee as well). Yeah I'd probably do it again...

The conference hotel was full so we were booked here. Overall, not a bad location. The front desk staff seem to randomly disappear at times so you're left waiting for someone to return. The key cards are the worst. My coworkers had to visit the front desk daily to have cards reset (no there were not near phone). One of the staff was very rude but everyone was fairly pleasant. The AC in my room was a little temperamental at times. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Water pressure was great. We utilized the pool and Bayside area nightly to hang out. Very beautiful view. In close walking distance to man restaurants and pier. Trolley runs right out front.

This hotel is in almost the perfect location in Clearwater Beach. It is right next to Shephard's so you can enjoy the late night entertainment. It's walking distance to the south end of the beach and just a little further to the pier and the boat docks. The floors aren't the cleanest (there was a lot of trash under the dresser that the maid had missed) and the A/C unit was loud (like a jet taking off) but OK otherwise (the beds were clean and comfortable and the bathroom was spotless). There's a decent bar by the Gulfside pool too.

Stayed here on a recent Saturday night. Hotel room itself was pretty standard. Parking was in a large garage next door but there was no connection to the hotel and the elevator was quite slow. Hotel screwed up a bunch of stuff with our reservation which took awhile at the front desk to sort out. Pool and patio overlooking the Gulf gave amazing sunset views. There were some but not a ton of restaurants and other things (including the beach) in the area which was good since traffic was so bad we walked everywhere. Breakfast vouchers for the restaurant in the hotel was a nice perk.

We took a short weekend getaway to Clearwater Beach. I'm a Platinum Elite Member of Holiday Inn so I stay at their properties whenever I can. We had my sister in law with us so I ordered a King Suite. Two rooms with two bathrooms. Perfect. We check in Friday evening after dinner. BTW. $18.00 per day for parking. Turns out they upgraded us to a Penthouse Suite. Bravo Holiday Inn. So I thought. First problem, instead of a king bed, there are two queens. Not the end of the world but then the big problem. My sister in law finds a dead roach on the floor. Unacceptable. I go down to the front desk, explain the sleeping situation and then had the desk clerk a tissue with the roach. He is appalled but explains it's a "Palmetto Bug". OK let's talk about this. I lived in Miami in the early 70's. I understand Florida is a tropical climate with a propensity for bugs, but Floridians have been brainwashed to believe that roaches are Palmetto Bugs and serve a purpose. No they don't. They're roaches no matter what you have been told. Well now I have to crazy women freaking out. The desk clerk, Marcus is very understanding. He sends up engineering to check it out and spray the suite . OK. Next he comps me several thousand valuable IHG Points. Getting better. Next he voids the $18 parking fee. Let's get back to the hotel. Can't beat the location, right on the gulf. Heated pool, restaurant on premises, and walking distance to anything you need. True, the hotel could use an update but we were fine after the Roach/Palmetto Bug fiasco. I would definitely return but I will scour the room for those infamous Palmetto Bugs. THERE ROACHES

I'm shocked this hotel is not reviewed higher. We absolutely loved our stay here & plan on coming back. The rooms are a bit outdated but our room was clean & the bed extremely comfortable. The maids aren't entering rooms right now due to covid but we found a clean bag of towels & toiletries outside of our room every day. Anything we needed a call down to the desk & they delivered in minutes. The rooms have microwave & mini fridge as well as a Keurig with coffee assortment & tea. The products in the bathroom are Bath & Body Works. Tv has large variety of channels including all the HBO channels. We brought microwave popcorn & enjoyed watching a movie or 2 before bed. The sunset views are AMAZING. We were able to spot dolphins one night swimming close to the hotel! There is a sunset countdown clock in the lobby & they do a countdown in Jimmys. Loved Jimmys. So convenient to have a good restaurant on the property right downstairs. Great to grab a bite after traveling before we knew the area or where to go. The breakfasts were huge. We saved 1/2 & had breakfast for the next day too. Tried most of their food. All very good. Service was on point. Love the live music every night! The location could not be better. We walked everywhere.... convenient store , shopping, beach, all the great restaurants! Cesare's on the beach was a short walk for a wonderful Italian dinner night out. We skipped dessert everywhere we ate because we loved the ice cream at the shop down the road & the crepes right next door. Beautiful views of the island from Jimmys rooftop at the edge next door. Gorgeous clean heated pool & cute arcade. Yes the machines are old & some weren't working correctly but we still had fun getting in some skee ball, Ms PacMan & air hockey. The beach is beautiful. Access is out the front to the left. There are restrooms & chairs/ cabanas to rent. Right across from many places to eat as well. The Causeway is a short Uber ride away for under $9 & there are restaurants & shops as well as the boat tours, dinner cruises etc. This is where Pier 60 beach is located as well. Lots of activities there. There is a trolley that runs up & down the main roads. Look for the poles with the big sun on them. Trolleys are free right now because of covid. I can't say enough about our visit & stay here. Plan on booking again ASAP.

We ended up getting in this hotel last minute after our disaster air bnb at treasure island. This hotel needs updating inside. Decor is definitely early 2000s but we really didn't care. The hotel keys stopped working a lot and our key reader on our hotel door was really hard to get into. We had to under it about 5-6 times before the door actually unlocks however those are minor issues. The front staff was half and half. Some were super kind others were pretty blah. They pick and choose when they want to tell someone to wear a mask, if someone makes a fuss about someone not wearing one. People are coming here to Florida for a reason, we don't want to be harassed about masks. Over it. The older lady in the gift shop was sweet and kind!! This hotel has a great pool and a perfect arcade for kids! This was more of a family hotel so thankfully we were able to not be surrounded by drunk teen spring breakers. The bartender by the pool made us some delicious drinks! The hotel is in walking distance with basically everything. The only thing you would prob have to drive to is a larger store like target or Walmart. The elevator closest to our room didn't work the whole time so we walked the stairs to the 3rd floor. We are younger so it's not an issue but I'm sure some were not happy. All in all we had an amazing time and would 100% come back. Clearwater was so beautiful!

A bit aged, could definitely use some upgrading. I kept looking for the guys from "American Pickers" to show up. The pool area is the highlight of this property, well kept, clean, plenty of lounge chairs, towel service, and a great tiki bar. Beautiful view on the channel, leading out to the gulf from Clearwater. There is NO beach on this property, however, you can walk down a small "boardwalk" to a nice beach area. The coffee shop attached, very good! The restaurant at the Hotel, old, but the food was very good. Would stay again.

This is where my friend and I stayed when we went and visited Clearwater. Overall, I really like the location, we were very close to the beach, within walking distance. Jimmy's was OK for food, we actually ate there once for lunch and ones for dinner and the view from the outside patio is beautiful. The pool was decent, you had to get there early and there were a lot of kids, which I didn't take into consideration when I booked. There are a few things inside the rooms, which the picture show, that were less than desirable, some updates could be done but other than that it was a nice budget friendly vacation

    Lori G.

Decent hotel, nice room, beautiful view of the Gulf, darn good bar with pretty good food. On property coffee shop was good as was overall service - appears to have a nice and happy staff. A/C was a bit noisy, but hey it worked great! Cost vs. value of hotel was great compared to other properties in the area. Will definitely be rebooking this location upon on our return to the area.

Is there a beach close by this hotel?

Yes, there is beach access within a 5 minute walk (tops) past 2 adjacent hotels. There is not a beach right at the hotel but don't let that deter you.

The hotel itself is beautiful and centrally located on Clearwater Beach with just a short walk across the street to the beach. We booked two suites , a 2 queen private rooftop terrace suite with a full kitchen and a poolside king suite with a kitchenette which were spacious and perfect for our large gathering. The rooftop terrace was definitely a highlight, and the hotel is within walking distance to restaurants, the pier, playgrounds, and shops. I also liked that the pool is on the 8th floor with a great view and access limited to hotel guests only. Pool chairs were very comfortable, towels were unlimited with no towel card system, and beach cabana/umbrella rentals were half off for guests. The hot tub being on the 16th floor separate from the pool didn't make much sense though. Room service was daily, and I appreciated being able to text the front desk instead of calling. I highly recommend using the text feature and keeping everything in writing because there were discrepancies regarding credits we were promised. There were unfortunately several maintenance and service issues during our stay. The living room TV constantly glitched and wouldn't sync properly even after maintenance attempted to fix it. More importantly, the AC completely stopped working in the rooftop terrace suite for hours while we hosted about 25 guests for the graduation party. Everyone was hot and sweaty in almost 100-degree indoor conditions. Thankfully the terrace breeze helped, but being offered only a $100 credit for such a major issue during a once-in-a-lifetime celebration felt insufficient! The parking garage situation was also frustrating. We were told our vehicles could enter and exit freely with the resort fee, but every time we tried leaving, the room keys and garage passes failed. We repeatedly went back to front desk to get new passes and had to pay $40 to exit then contact customer service afterward for refunds such a waste of vacation time Customer service overall was very hit or miss. Some employees were wonderful while others seemed miserable and unfriendly. The onsite coffee shop was particularly disappointing I'd recommend walking across the street from The front lobby to the real Starbucks instead. At times it felt like the hotel relies heavily on its excellent location and beach proximity rather than consistent service standards.Coming from previous stays at Sandpearl Resort, I personally would still choose Sandpearl for smaller family vacations. However, I will say this hotel offers more flexibility for large gatherings and easier garage access compared to Sandpearl's valet-only setup. That said, between the AC outage, power issues in BOTH suites floor 8 and 17, lukewarm water, TV problems, phone problems, garage charges, and inconsistent customer service, I would probably try another Clearwater Beach hotel next time. We still made wonderful graduation memories and the location, spacious suites, rooftop terrace, and beach convenience were definitely the highlights of our stay.

(The kids menu burgers and fries was plenty for me!) All were good experiences. Hotel is in walking distance of so many restaurants, shops and of course, the pier. We only hung out on the beach one day with the loungers and cabana. I was a little disappointed that they weren't included in the stay. The cost was $30 per day. We were on floor 16 which is the top floor. At first, I was worried I would be afraid going on the balcony because of how high it is, but it doesn't feel terribly high. I actually recommend asking for a higher floor because that's where the best views of the beach are. We only went to the Opal sol pool this time instead of Opal Sands. They have two pools, which is great because one felt like an adult pool whereas the other one felt like a children pool even though there was no designation. It made me feel better about my two children splashing about. There is also a pool by the Spa that I think adults should escape to if they want to get away from children. The one downside of the pool is they don't have many servers walking around taking orders. I ended up walking up to the bar to put in a food and drink order because the only server was on the far side of the pool the entire time. I tried berries and bubbles and a strawberry Mo-to-to, both were fantastic. We learned we do not like the chips and salsa. My older son did and liked the queso, but nobody else in the family did. We also love the hot tub and you can turn on jets if you want. Even though it doesn't feel like they have a ton of seating, we never had a hard time finding a seat, so people do a good job cleaning up after themselves if they leave their seats. They also have tons of towels, I never thought I would appreciate this so much until we were at another hotel that limited guests to four at a time, so I appreciate that you can take towels to the beach and then come back and grab new towels. The rooms are beautiful. They feel spacious and everything is still pretty new since it was built at the beginning of 2025. All rooms look at the beach, so it is nice sitting on the balcony and looking out at the water. One random criticism is that they don't have any non-caffeinated tea, all their tea has caffeine in it that they offer in the room. Room service is very quick. We got chicken tenders and fries and grilled chicken and fries. I tried the Ahi tuna starter and loved it. My younger son loved his grilled chicken and older son ate the fries. Even though the hotel isn't right on the beach, it is literally across the street from the beach so super convenient to get to. Clearwater beach is beautiful. It has powdery white sand, and there are ample amounts of chairs that you can purchase to sit on. They only have valet so the one downside is it takes a while to get your car, but if most of your vacation is on the beach, you won't need your car anyway. I also appreciate that they have snacks that they put out at 8 AM. They also apparently have cookies at 3 PM, but we totally missed seeing that. I forgot to bring the kids snacks so this was a lifesaver when the kids grabbed granola bars for breakfast. They also have Board games on every floor, which I think is a nice touch. I always enjoy our stay here. I would recommend.

What a lovely stay we had at Wyndham Grand! Spent 4 nights here recently with my husband and two…read morekids, and we had great things to say about the experience. PROS; -Walkable to just about everything! We didn't rent a car for our trip so it was perfect to be able to access nearby restaurants, shops, and more all on foot. -The pool deck is very large, well kept, and very well staffed. Tons of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Everyone working there was so dang nice! You can receive pool-side service for food & drink, or head up to the attached bar to grab what you need. Definitely a little on the pricey side, but a lot of good options. -We booked a one-bedroom suite and it was delightful! Sooo spacious, likely more than we needed. It was super clean and modern. Very nice, updated bathrooms and walk-in glass showers. Our patio was also huge, providing beautiful views of the Mandalay Channel. Beds were comfy, and they even so kindly provided us with a cot/crib for our youngest. Hugee for parents - that was super appreciated! -Literally every single person working there that we interacted with was beyond sweet! Five-star service and friendliness from all staff. CONS: -Little to no cleaning service in the room (unless requested??). Maybe I missed how this works, but it was a little of a bummer having overflowing trash cans and dirty dishes we weren't sure what to otherwise do with. They were very quick to bring fresh towels upon request, however! -Given the size of our suite, we would have loved to have a few extra usable items in the kitchen area, like any kind of napkins/paper towels, silverware, and soap do to a little washing up. Surely don't expect it to be fully stocked with appliances and plateware, but it seemed a little odd how big it was with truly nothing to use it for. All in all, we would absolutely stay here again, and would most certainly recommend it to others (especially families). Thanks for a great stay!

Located on the beach in Clearwater, this resort has amazing views of the cotton candy sunsets , a spa , fine dining restaurants and a great outdoor pool and tiki bar that we visited daily for lunch. I booked a spa appointment for the Grounded Serenity ( about $325 for 120 minutes ) which was a perfect way to end my stay at the resort. The spa is on sight and you can book your services in advance or while staying at the resort. Go online as they have so many options that are fabulous. Valet parking is around $40 a night and there is a daily resort fee added to the stay. Rooms range from about $289-400 a night depending on time of year and suite selected. I've stayed at other resorts and hotel brands in Clearwater and I must say, this was worth every dollar spent. I look forward to more stays at this Resort for sure.

3.5/5 Stars - Nice Location, But Service Fell Short…read more I stayed at Opal Sands Resort from Friday through Sunday, and while it was a nice weekend getaway, the experience didn't quite live up to the price or the expectations. Check-In: The check-in experience wasn't the warmest. The front desk associate was polite, but the interaction felt very transactional, more like, "Here's your key, hand me your credit card, have a great day," rather than making us feel welcomed to the resort. Room: Our Gulf View room on the 5th floor overlooking the pool was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was quiet for the most part. Occasionally, you could hear music from the pool area, but it wasn't disruptive. Pool: The pool itself was great. The water temperature was perfect, and we had no trouble finding chairs both times we used it. The music wasn't really our style, so I brought a small speaker and played my own without any issues. Unfortunately, the pool service left a lot to be desired. Getting a server's attention felt like a mission. I ordered a piña colada, which tasted good--especially whatever they put around the rim, but it barely seemed to contain any alcohol. The same happened with a whiskey and club soda; it tasted almost entirely like club soda with just a splash of whiskey. For the prices they charge, I expected much better. Beach: On our second day, we decided to spend time on the beach. The day before, we had asked how the cabanas and umbrellas worked and were told everything was first come, first served. Based on that information, we assumed they were included with the resort stay. We grabbed towels from the pool, found an open cabana, and about 20 minutes later an employee informed us there was a $50 charge to use it. We had no issue paying the fee, but the lack of communication from the front desk and other staff was frustrating. Better communication would have prevented the confusion. Food: I had breakfast at the restaurant on the first floor. The food was decent but nothing memorable or worth going out of your way for. Overall: For the price, I expected a higher level of service and better communication from the staff. The property itself is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and the location is excellent, but the service and food and beverage experience brought the overall rating down. Overall Rating: 3.5/5 Would I stay here again? Probably not. Next time I'd be more interested in trying the hotel next door, The Sol, which looked beautifully decorated and has two pools instead of one. Hopefully the overall guest experience is better.

Unfortunately, our four-night stay was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we've had. The biggest issue was the condition of the room. We have photos documenting what we found. The shower had visible mold when we checked in, and despite daily housekeeping, it was never cleaned during our entire stay. The room itself felt dirty, and the towels had a foul odor, almost as if they had been washed in rancid water. The room was also in poor repair. Most of the electrical outlets were so loose that plugs would not stay in them. We couldn't use a hair dryer, curling iron, or even reliably charge our phones because the plugs would simply fall out. We ended up buying an extension cord so we could run power from the bathroom outlet. There were no functioning towel bars, and the wall hooks that were supposed to hold towels repeatedly fell off the wall. Housekeeping was inconsistent at best. On Tuesday we had to ask for bath towels. On Wednesday we had no washcloths. We asked a housekeeper, then the front desk, and finally called the hotel after waiting. Each time we were told someone would bring them "right up," but they never arrived. We eventually had to use hand towels as washcloths. That same day, housekeeping only made the beds and emptied the trash. The room was not actually cleaned. The room itself was far too small for two queen beds. It felt as though two beds had been squeezed into a room designed for one. The mattresses were lumpy and uncomfortable and felt much smaller than standard queen beds. Had the room been clean, well maintained, and comfortable, I honestly would have overlooked many of the other frustrations. Unfortunately, when the basics of cleanliness and comfort aren't met, everything else becomes much harder to ignore. The beach was the reason we chose this hotel, and while the beach itself is beautiful, the setup was disappointing. Guests are not permitted to bring their own beach chairs and must rent the hotel's. The first two rows closest to the water were occupied by blue cabanas renting for approximately $251 per day. We rented reclining chairs for about $60 per day, yet they were placed in the back row, far from the water, while many of the premium cabanas remained empty. The rows of orange traffic cones surrounding the cabana area also took away from the natural beauty of the beach. The hotel's location is excellent, and direct access to Clearwater Beach is its greatest asset. However, a great location cannot make up for mold, poor housekeeping, maintenance problems, uncomfortable beds, and a room that simply wasn't clean. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe future guests deserve an honest picture of our experience. Based on our stay, I would not return or recommend this property.
