I would give this hotel 4 out of 5 stars. The hotel itself was very clean, including the bathroom, which I really appreciated. The breakfast was simple but great if you're looking for something quick and easy before getting on the road. They also have a small gym and a pool, which is nice if you're staying for a night or two and want some basic amenities. The staff was very friendly, and both check-in and checkout were quick and easy. Parking was also convenient, and the location right off the highway makes it a great stop if you're traveling. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is because the bed was pretty stiff. Other than that, it was a great stay and definitely gets the job done if you need a clean, easy place to stop. read more

A clean, modern and welcoming place to stop along the I5. I received text messages from the staff both before and after my stay which was lovely. My room was newly renovated, very clean and I appreciated the Dove branded amenities. Breakfast was varied, and the sausages and biscuits were a hit. First I'll say the rooms were clean and comfortable. However, the provided "dog area" is full of thorns and trash. I had to pick 5 thorns out of my dog's paws. We were also on the 4th floor, which is fine....when the elevator is working. With two dogs, one being elderly who has a hard time with stairs this was a bit frustrating. The lack of parking at the facility was also frustrating. The limited parking was mostly taken up by semi trucks. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We booked a room here months ahead of time and when we arrived they let us know that our room was cancelled last minute because the card we put down did not go through. The general manager then lied to our face and said she called to let us know ahead of time but that is 100% not true. They texted us once from an unknown number and did not say who they were or what they were talking about so we assumed it was spam. I will attach a photo of the text below. They let us know that they only run the cards ahead of time on nights where there is a concert at the casino near by because they want to fill the room as fast as possible without regarding anything else. A direct quote from her ~ "my boss said since the card didn't go through that I needed to resell it as quickly as I could because he wants all the money he can get". Very poor service, very poor attitude. Don't book here if you want to have somewhere to stay. read more

Canceled due to a loss in a family, staff was friendly and caring. I was able to cancel with no issues and no charges. Thank you.

We stayed in room #305 and checked in after midnight. Upon arriving to the room, we inserted the key card and the light flashed green and the door opened slightly but not all of the way. We tried the key several times and each time the door opened slightly and the door was clearly stuck in the frame and would not open all the way. When we finally gave the door a push, the door opened and the door frame cracked (see photos). The lock on the door was clearly faulty and as paying guests we did not cause this damage. The frame was ALREADY compromised which is why the door was not able to open smoothly. We immediately went downstairs to report the damage and were told that we would not be paying damages. The next morning, we had a conversation with the General Manager Rebecca (530) 517-1413 and she indicated many times that we would not have to pay for the damage to the door. Rebecca stated that the hotel has issues with all of the locks on the doors and that this is next on the repair priority list of the hotel. Rebecca would not put any of this conversation in writing and this made us uncomfortable. Rebecca told us multiple times that we would not be charged for damages. I checked my credit card statement today and I was charged $300 in addition to the hotel stay charges. We should not be charged for something that happened before we even stepped foot into the room. In fact, I had expected the Holiday Inn to give us a discount because our door was faulty and the security/safety of our room was compromised because of this. It is very shady to me that we were charged and not notified that we were going to be charged for this. I contacted Rebecca the GM via her cell phone number above this morning (6/16/25) and she will not give me the phone number or contact number of the owner. We arrived in the evening, we just needed a resting place driving through Mt Shasta for business, absolutely loved the gal at the front desk , so very polite and welcoming . And not to mention dogs allowed + points. Plus the side play area for pets to excuse themselves The room was clean and comfortable. Very friendly staff, breakfast was typical of all HIE. Rooms were clean but needed maintenance. Public areas are worn out. When we got to our room, it was not made so we had to get another room. My first night in the area I stayed in red bluff at a room that was $50 cheaper. I should have followed my instincts that said stay where I was. I was in town to meet my deceased sisters some for the first time. Who is 10 BTW. Upon checking in I was asked for my card which they swiped which I didn't like. Oh I booked this room through Expedia. I was given room 116. I go to my room and the door is open with the security lock so the door doesn't close completely. That was eerie. But I went in checked everywhere and then headed to the pool with my nephew. Pool was dirty and there were no pool towels readily accessible. I leave and come back around 7:30. I'm putting my food in the fridge and getting comfortable for the night. About 10 ish I get up to get some water and noticed something on the wall. I thought wait am I tripping let me get my glasses. Reach for my glasses and I'll be damn it's a cockroach. I get up and kill it and noticed a few more babies on the desk where some of belongings are. I grab my stuff and shake it. Then I go to the bathroom and wallah more babies on the lavatory sink and 1 in the toilet bowl. I take pics and go to the front desk. Very calmly without causing a scene, which I wanted to but... I didn't lol. I showed the clerk the pics and said this is unacceptable and I would like to be reimbursed and changed to another room. Mind you it's at this point 11 at night and I live 7 hours drive away. I go and start getting my stuff together. I would have expected this at the room I stayed in the night before but here. They had no other accommodations and I had no choice but to get on the road. I stopped in colugo county at a motel 6 in Williams. $60.60 for a basic standard clean roach free room. I've been a loyal Holiday Inn Express member for close to 25 years. In that time, I've stay in many, many HIE hotels. Hands down, this one is the most neglected, outdated and in-disrepair HIE I've ever seen. It's clear that HIE took over this property from some other chain that must have gone defunct around 1989, threw up some new signage and a breakfast bar, and called it done. The carpet is decades old, worn and dirty. The bathrooms are just as old with toilets that don't flush well. The room decor is a bizarre mixture of 1980's plywood paneling cabinets along with an attempt at modern lamps and TV. There's no sink in the bathroom, yet somehow, there's 2 separate sinks and countertops in the room. The pool area has broken tiles. The hot tub isn't heated at all. The sign for the hot tub says, "Push button to start," yet the button is clearly broken off with a plastic plate hacked over it. The hot tub and pool are grimy, too. The staff are nice and very accomodating. But I found it unprofessional that one was not wearing a face mask at the height of the COVID pandemic -- literally the same day that some hospitals announced their ICUs are going into full crisis mode, having to triage patients, ration healthcare options, and fully acknowledge that they can now provide only the bare essentials of care to ICU patients. Please, if you're considering this particular HIE, SKIP IT. Drive 20 minutes south on I-5 to Willows, CA. I've stayed at the HIE there 3 times and, while it's not the height of luxury, it's MUCH better than the one in Corning, CA. This one is not anywhere near the level of quality I've come to expect from HIE. Complete rip off at $200 a night. read more

Holiday Inn Corning CA will not stay here anymore. I've been staying here off and on for the past 3 years, most of the time it's a week at a time then I go home on the weekends. So somewhere around 100 days in the past 3 years. So lady at front desk never remembers me even though I say hi and bye whenever coming in and out. She is always rude to me, always short with me and seems to disgusted with reactions during conversation. I could not hold my tongue this time, so I won't be back. This Hotel is disgusting and infested with Cockroaches, when I brought it to the managers attention, not only did she not care but was very rude about it. I highly recommend that nobody rent a room here unless they plan on taking roaches home, this hotel needs to have a big tent over it so it can be bombed, and I honestly don't think it would do any good. Roaches can live through anything, so don't waist your money because this establishment does not care about the health and wellness of there customers. Very very bad business, there is absolutely no way that they can act like they don't know that they are infested. Great hotel and very friendly staff! This is my second visit here, the first being back in December. Both times the rooms have been very clean, spacious and comfortable. The free continental breakfast is very good with eggs, sausage or bacon, a fun pancake machine (!), cereals, oatmeal, bagels, pastry, yogurts and really great biscuits and gravy! Plus a coffee/tea/hot cocoa station that is available all day. And the warm cookies in the evening (chocolate chip, peanut butter and oatmeal raisin) live up to the hype! The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. We needed an early check-in this trip as we are here for the death of my grandfather, to comfort my grandmother and help her with arrangements. The staff was able to accommodate us and to add a little levity to our trip, I managed to get stuck in the bathroom in the workout room due to a faulty lock (exactly the kind of shenanigans I always find myself in, lol) and maintenance and front desk staff had me out in 15 after prying the lock open (it was a very solid door with the hinges on my side), lol! read more

Maria is the assistant manager and Yuri is just front desk and they both should never work in hospitality or customer service. Stayed in room 121 the handicap accessible room. Noticed immediately in the shower/bathroom, that the tile was completely bulging off the wall and crumbling the bathroom seem to be in very poor condition when I got out of the shower I noticed that the shower curtain didn't hold water in and the water had flooded the entire bathroom almost out into the little foyer area. I then noticed a lot of water damage on the bottom of the door as well as bubbling wallpaper and what appeared to be black mold near the ceiling next to the toilet. I thought this was an urgent issue and called the desk to have a manager come look and they sent someone with a toilet plunger who couldn't really understand what I was saying. This could be a serious health issue for folks black mold is nothing to play with, my husband felt like the whole wall within the shower was rotten and should be replaced hopefully they will address this soon. What a dump. Hotel is gross and extremely outdated. The first room we got smelled of throw up and the door would not open. It was also missing a tv and the phone didn't work. The second room they gave us had wet carpet. The door was also ajar when we first walked up to it. Whoever does the maintenance on the hotel needs to be fired......every square inch of this hotel is poorly maintained and many items are broken. It's Corning, CA. What would you expect? Holiday Express is actually a step up and probably the nicest for miles and miles. They have great rates and are speedy. Everything is clean (bleach wise) not cozy clean. Beds are not great but it's Corning. This is a TA town. Trucks running in and out. Fairly standard for a Holiday Inn Express. Reasonably sized rooms, modern furnishings and decor, free wifi and continental breakfast. Recent renovations have kept it fresh. Rates are cheaper here than Red Bluff and Redding (which has really gotten overpriced) but then again this spot is basically just an I-5 truck stop. I like the holiday inn because the beds are always comfortable. I came during a week night and got my room for a decent price. The first room I was given had a very dirty toilet from the inside of the bowl to the bottom. It also was cracked on one side of the toilet seat. I'm sure no one told them this before so I did so they could get it replaced. I've worked in a hotel before and know that's how you find out about most rooms malfunctions. The front desk was very nice and gave me another room that was clean. I don't know if I would come to this location until after renovations but the staff are very nice :) read more

We were late check out 15 mins as my wife was throwing up in hallway waiting for the elevator that took 10 mins to get to us and they charged us a late fee. Then said room smelt weird. Checked in at 11:30 pm. Key didn't open the parking lot entrance door. Had to climb through the window. Room 319 door was ajar. Room was messy from the last occupant and not made up (they had all day to do this). Was reassigned room 219. Door only opens if you know the trick of the handle (this from the front desk). Black smudges on various parts of the drapes. See photo. Old worn carpet throughout the motel. Only one working ice machine with no shelf to set the bucket. Breakfast was horrible. Pool and sauna were "closed for the season." This was June 8th!!!!!! We will never even think about staying here again, and will gladly pay more to stay at the casino across the highway. read more

Wife and I are staying here for 2 weeks while she does her job training. The employees are all very nice and even housekeeping is nice and also helpful. the only bad thing is the pic of the gym is old, all they have now is a treadmill, bike and elipitcal. The breakfast is too notch. Not good and plenty of it. Yes the button to turn on the spa is still.gone but they leave the spa.on 24/7 so no worries, but the water is ice cold. The bed is clean, the only prob with the bed is the mattress is worn out on one side so when ya lay there you fill like your rolling off onto the floor. The rooms do come with a keyring and a fridge and a microwave. There is plenty of parking and even with all the fire trucks staying here there is still plenty of room. The breakfast bar has hashbrowns, sausage patties, scrambled eggs and veggie egg.omletes. Ya have a choice of juices on tap. Today we had biscuits but no gravy. The cinnamon rolls are too notch. They do have a .pancake machine also. The tv channel lineup could use some fixing. The channels that the tv list are not the same like MILITARY CHANNEL is actually TBS. And the guide does not match the lineup. I used a dish network guide for the area to see what is in after writing down what channels we have. I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about with the ceiling cracking. The only time I heard anything was last night a lady walking around had a heavy foot but it's normal for any multi story structure. All in all I am happy with this hotel. I am currently staying in the room while my wife does her job training. Anything new happens I will update. And will share pictures of my surroundings. read more

The receptionist was welcoming us well. We couldn't sleep at night because of the noise/cracking coming from the sealing. WE COULDN'T SLEEPING ALL NIGHT AND WE HAD TO WORK THE DAY AFTER AND DRIVE FOR 6 HOURS. Dirty towels left in bathroom, air conditioner rattled like crazy, tv would not stay on/ would randomly shut off and the ceiling sounds like it was going to fall down every time someone above took a step. We stayed in room 321 avoid this room. Not sure if all rooms are this way. We were kept up by the people above walking around. They arrived at like midnight and were walking around until like 2am and back up at 7:30am. The people themselves were not loud it was the building construction. Do not recommend this hotel. Parking with a trailer was also difficult here. Addition: Went into the bathroom this morning and found a coach roach. After I got out of the shower, I realized there were no bath towels. Your basic Holiday Inn Express. Staff was pleasant. Rooms are newly rennovated so there is no funky smell! Pool is outdoor so it's useless 1/2 the year. Breakfast room has lots of natural lighting. Nice grassy area next to hotel with a plenty of room for kids to run. Only downer was that they don't have Wireless Internet acceess. You have to remember to bring your CAT5 cable to use your laptop in your room or use the terminal PC in the business center. read more

Stayed here on a Thursday night and is nice for the most part because this is the perfect half way point for us when we drive from Portland to Los Angeles. Clean comfortable rooms. Price for a 2 queen size bed was about $135 a night. The only complaint is the drive through ( for drop-off and loading) was blocked. This should be a fire lane and it is not the first time. We enjoyed the Continental breakfast the next day. There were pancakes, bacon, omelettes, oatmeal, cereal, danishes, muffins, coffees, and juices. The classic cinnabon roll is my favorite. This is a comfortable hotel that's convenient to Interstate 5. The property is a bit old, but it's reasonably well-appointed. My room had a slight cigarette smoke smell. The AC kept the room cool. All expected amenities from a chain we know and usually like were in the room no the bed was comfortable. . The room though high priced and quite comfortable was extremely close to the freeway. The car noise was noticeable and every truck roared by. Sleep was a challenge. Land is valuable and the hotel took advantage of it. These customers had a short night with little sleep. We got a little ahead of ourselves thinking we could drive from San Diego to Oregon with our 2-year-old without stopping. To her credit, she did really well on the drive but we didn't want her to sleep in her car seat and arrive at our destination at midnight. Hence, the frantic searches on Yelp and calls to local hotels at 8 PM to find a hotel room for the night....In the middle of nowhere! Sorry, no offense Corning! We booked this over the phone and within 30 minutes, we were in our (2nd) room. Our little one was fast asleep so I brought our stuff into the room before we took her out of the car. The first room had a really bad odor so I asked the clerk if he had another room. Without hesitation, he switched the rooms and was very apologetic. Since we didn't have our stuff in the room, it was easy to move - plus, it was just across the hallway. The (2nd) room worked out great -- it was actually bigger and ended up working out better. There were 2 queen beds and a kitchenette that would've been really helpful if we stayed longer. Since we just needed a place to stay and planned to leave at sun up, we didn't put any of this to use. The showers were great. Great water pressure! At 5AM, my husband got an unexpected work call and had to run out to the lobby and use the business center. He was there for 2 hours so this center worked out great for him. It prolonged our departure but he needed to take care of work and it he was able to have privacy in the process. Stayed at this hotel in May for memorial weekend. I have family in Corning so I tend to go a lot. Speciality during the summer. That weekend once we checked in our rooms where not clean. We waited an hour to get the rooms clean. Ok not a big deal I understand they are understaffed specially with the pandemic. In July I booked the hotel again because I was going to go visit my family once again at the end of the month. I did the booking through booking.com. I end up canceling the booking 4 days before due to a family emergency and not doing the trip any more. On August 7th, 2021 I notice a charge of $284.13 from the hotel. I call the same day. I explain to Adriana what is going on. She said she's would tell her manager. August 11th, 2021 I call back because I never heard back. I speak to someone that I totally forgot her name. She tells me the same thing. She will let her manager know. On August 16th, 2021 I call again. Adriana answer again. And she tells me she will notify her manager once again. On August 17th, 2021 Kristine calls me, the managers she leaves me a voicemail. I gave her a call back spoke to her didn't get anywhere because she said she was the only one in the front desk and had to help customers. Never heard back from her. I called once again September 1st, 2021. I called the number Kristine called me from. She answers and tells me I'm sorry I'm out in my coffee break I have a headache I can't talk now. Can you call me back.... I have not call back. As a customer service manager the customers should not be calling you. You should be following I'm with the customers. The simple phone called and acknowledgment to a customer goes a long way. But hey who am I. Just a customer that tends to stay a lot at this hotel. Never got a refund for the $284.13.
