Stayed here for one night while driving to LA from Portland. I chose an interior room which has windows into the ballroom, not the outside. It was fine for one night but I don't know if I would choose the same type room if staying longer. The hotel has some history behind it and can be a little creepy if you decide to walk around at night by yourself. Our room was #16, located on the second floor. The room was a decent size with a sitting area with two chairs and a settee and a small armoire to hang your clothes. The bathroom was small with a walk in shower but the shower pressure was good and the water was warm. No air conditioning but there was an industrial oscillating fan in the room. Unfortunately, I didn't find the bed too comfortable and the headboard creaked a lot but it was ok for just one night. Taylor at the front desk when we checked in was very helpful and informative. We left early, around 8am and they had a complimentary breakfast available for guests consisting of bagels, sweet pastries, fruit, Tillamook cheese and sliced tomatoes and cucumbers which I presume are for the bagels. This is a very historical property in old town Eureka near the marina. The building itself is very interesting and beautiful inside, but felt a bit confusing. It is dark inside and smells "old". Our room was nicely decorated in old Victorian. It was overlooking the corner of 2nd & C right over the Irish pub. Everything was clean and nice inside. Bathroom was small but well stocked with supplies. The issue is more with the area. We took a walk after we arrived through the marina and old town area and concluded that we didn't feel terribly safe. We decided to stay in after dark. There were plenty of homeless and very "sketchy" people walking around talking loudly to themselves, etc. Know the rooms have no air conditioning so the hosts opened a couple of windows facing C street, which we left open all night, hoping that street wouldn't be terribly noisy. Fortunately, the Irish pub below us closes around 9:00, and the Mexican restaurant across the street was the same. By 9:30 or so the street was very quiet with only the occasional car and lone, loud motorcycle around midnight. Also there is no TV in the room, so bring your own entertainment! The WiFi didn't work either. We couldn't find the WiFi the hosts provided on check in. Overall, this area of town is trying to revive and the hosts are trying to bring back this hotel. This charming hotel in historic downtown Eureka is full of character and thoughtful touches. We visited during a weekend street fair and enjoyed the local charm and the live band playing in the ballroom. Cocktails and dancing added a festive energy that made the evening memorable. We originally booked through a third-party platform, and prior to arrival, my husband called and asked about the Moonraker room... the one Bill Murray had previously stayed in. The staff member he spoke with told us we were set and that she was holding it for us. At no point did she clarify that our reservation was for a different room type. So it came as a surprise when we checked in and were not placed in the Moonraker room but rather a queen room with no TV. It wasn't what we expected based on that call. Our travel companions received both email and text confirmations, but we received nothing. I had to call the night before check in just to confirm we were in the system, fully expecting that we were confirmed for the Moonraker room based on my husband's earlier conversation. After our stay, I spoke with the owner directly and truly appreciated how she listened and took the time to make it right. She offered us a discounted future stay in the Moonraker room, which was incredibly generous and shows she values her guests. One thing I've since learned is that booking through third-party platforms can sometimes lead to these types of miscommunications. It also takes a significant cut from small, local businesses. If you're considering staying at this historic boutique hotel in Eureka, I highly recommend booking directly with the property. It helps avoid confusion and better supports the people behind the stay. The staff was friendly and the location is fantastic, but clearer communication up front would have helped manage expectations. That said, the owner's follow-up made a lasting impression. Driving into town in the evening while it was dark and raining it didn't look like much but I was pleasantly surprised when we got inside this Victorian Hotel and found another world awaiting us! We walked right into history and it was cool. Hubs did all the bookings for our road trip and he picked this place as our base for going up further to see the Redwoods. Plus, they allow dogs and we had our fur baby with us for this trip. The staff is very welcoming and pleasant. Upon check-in you get an old fashion hard key to your room. I had never stayed in a Victorian home before so it was cool to look at all the unique features as you make the turns to your room. Our room was very spacious and had a very inviting bed. The linens were a lot nicer than some hotels and the big fluffy pillows and the bed itself was very comfortable. We loved that there was a ton of space to spread out. So much room that the roll away cot fit comfortably. My kiddo who had been sleeping on pull out couches at other hotels found the cot to be really comfortable. The next morning before heading to the Redwoods there was a small breakfast available in the lounge where you check-in. We ate bagels and cream cheese, pastries and fruit and there was coffee, tea and water available to drink. As we wanted to hit the road early before the rain came in, this allowed us to get breakfast quickly. The lady on duty was super nice and upon my questions on the history of the hotel she pulled out a printed sheet on the history of Eagle House from the office to give to me. I thought that was nice. She said to make sure to look around when we got back from our day trip. (We did and discovered the fun bar and various look outs). We stayed two nights and enjoyed the stay as it truly was unique. On the last day, we walked around the area which felt a lot different than coming in during the evening hours. The Inn was centrally located and had its charm about it. The architecture of the building was amazing. The reservation specialist checking us in was pleasant. The bed was absolutely comfortable. The aroma of the inn was absolutely overwhelming and not a pleasant odor. Our room was a good size, but the furniture was from when the inn opened in 1888. Not comfortable to sit on and relax on. The curtains were tied back in their periodic decor which made pulling them closed an ordeal ( there were 8 of them). Our door to the hallway had a significant leveling problem and could see into the hallway when the door was closed. This delightful inn located in Old Town Eureka is more than a pleasant surprise. The GF booked it. Her thing is posh hotels and historical inns, nothing in between, so coming to Eureka I knew we would not be staying in anything posh. Honestly, I much prefer comfortable Bed & Breakfasts than overpriced stays @ the Ritz any time. On that note, The Inn @ 2nd & C did it for me. The staff is very welcoming and pleasant. No key card but a set of hard brass keys to the spacious room with a very comfortable looking bed. The linens were a lot nicer than some pricier hotels and the big fluffy pillows were a plus. Another big plus for me is no TV & no radio - that went well with the historical nature of this inn. Breakfast was nice - we were told it consists of locally baked bagels, pastries and fruit, coffee, tea bags and hot water. We stayed two nights and enjoyed the stay as it truly was unique. My family and I had such a bad experience that we checked out after just one night of a planned multi-night stay. While the building itself is historic and the staff members we met were kind, there were serious issues that made us feel unsafe and uncomfortable: The first thing we learned upon arrival is that the front desk closes at 8 p.m., leaving no clear security presence or sense of safety overnight. This was concerning as it felt like we were the only people in the building. The room itself smelled strongly of urine - possibly from the sofa or through the open window. The neighborhood is far worse than the photos make it out to be. Groups of men were loitering (loudly) in the street outside our window well into the night, with one of them pacing back and forth at 2am, eyeing the building. We later learned there is a homeless shelter nearby. It's sad for everyone, but this definitely wasn't the "upscale getaway" the Inn's website makes it out to be (especially considering how much these rooms go for). As parents traveling with our 10-year-old son, we simply did not feel safe staying there and relocated the next morning to another hotel. I wrote to management directly afterward, sharing our experience and politely requesting a partial refund. I never even received a reply. That silence, more than anything, shows how little management seems to care about guest concerns. It's a shame, because the property itself must have been stunning in its glory days, and the staff we spoke with were friendly. But the combination of the unsafe location, unpleasant room condition, and unresponsive management should serve as a warning, especially for families. read more

As an avid world traveler, I've stayed in many places. This place, is hands down my favorite I have ever stayed in. I'm already planning to come back in May for my birthday. What an amazing experience this was! I was on an impromptu road trip to Humboldt county to see some redwoods and drink great beer. After driving through the Avenue of Giants from Fort Bragg, I dropped down into Eureka (that's right, I found it!) ((hehe)) and saw some of the cutest Victorian houses ever. I had gained quite the thirst and was surprised to see that this is where Lost Coast Brewing is from so I popped in for a flight of beer. While I was there, I pulling up booking.com find a place to stay and decided to treat myself. I went through a handful of places and this was one of the first I saw and nothing else seemed to compare. My instincts were spot on when choosing this place, or was it fate?? I was the ONLY hotel guest that checked in that day, even the staff said I snuck in, because the day before the power had gone out through the county due to an earthquake so everyone checked out. Then, I was informed that they were closing early (check in was from 3-5pm that day) for a holiday party. The Inn at 2nd and C has the Tavern 1888 (the year the building was built btw) and Phatsy Klines connected to it and even thought they closed down for the holiday party, somehow I was the honorary guest. I was warned about possibly dealing with a loud party but tell you what, if you're staying on the third and fourth floor, it's complete silence. It wasn't until I woke up from my nap and got down to the second floor that I had heard the party. I was fed from their chefs some amazing food, I'm guess not part of Phatsy fabulous menu but I could be wrong and got some delicious drinks. I was stoked they didn't turn me away, instead everyone embraced me and I feel very lucky to have stayed here when I did. I got to meet some of the OG employees that no longer work there but help make this place the magnificent Victorian palace it is and even the owners! It was quite the honor. They even have an employee named Max and he is the resident dog and such a good boy. We karaoke'd and danced and laughed all night. People told me about their first hand ghost stories of the place but rest assured, they're all very friendly. The second floor is apparently the most active. Upon checking in, I was told that I chose Jeffery's (max's owner and an awesome gentledude) favorite room, The Captains Quarters. Now, when booking, I just figured that was one of the cool queen sized rooms but it was the actual room that I booked and even though I only got to see 2 others, mine was definitely the coolest. Every room in this building is different and there's 23. After the party, I went up to my room and actually experienced a 3.7 mag earthquake and yes, the thought of me being the only guest I surely thought I met my demise for a split second and that I was going to be a permanent hotel guest (which wouldn't be terrible haha). One of the maintenance men let me know that this building is actually ONE OF THE SAFEST in town. They redid a lot of this building in the 1980's and one of them was the foundation being redone with redwood and another type of wood so we were solid and the building had many more years left in it. There's so much to look at and explore, there's even some secrets in the hotel that were fun to find, like the mirror that moves right outside my hotel room. There's a yoga room that's pretty awesome, a ballroom and like in mentioned above, an amazing restaurant and bar. So much thought was put into this place and I feel very blessed meeting everyone and them giving me a run down on the rich history of this grand Victorian building. If you're looking for an epic place to stay, I'm telling you, this place is worth the price and you deserve to treat yourself to a wonderful experience. A lot of people would get turned off of this place because there's a homeless shelter near by so might feel unsafe walking at night, but during the day, you're next to a beautiful marina and in the historical downtown area and I seriously cannot wait to come back. They have a security guard that's there all night and he will ensure your safety of both yourself and your car in the parking lot. I can't thank this place and the people apart of it enough for my experience and to letting me be a part of your family. Absolutely stunning building with local art and staffed with the best people. We stopped at the Inn at 2nd and C last year on a road trip through California and Oregon. We've driven through Eureka several times and I have always admired the many beautiful Victorian homes in the area, so was excited to stay in one. We booked online and parked in the lot behind the hotel. Upon entering through the back, we were greeted by a gentleman at the desk and provided our door code (don't miss the great portrait of Pearl in the lobby). The interior was extremely quiet and I think few other guests were staying as it was still the midst of the pandemic. Phatsy Kline's was closed, though I think it has now reopened. Even so, we enjoyed exploring the ballroom with its stunning ceiling, taking the stairs and checking out each floor, imagining the dances and other events that would have taken place in the inn's earlier days. Our room was the Captain's Quarters, #42. The windowed alcove with velvet covered benches was so neat to just sit in and gaze out upon the town. Definitely a special spot. The rooms have beautiful antique furniture and décor, and it almost feels like staying in a museum. It was our luck (haha) to be staying over Saint Patrick's Day, and patrons were loud, celebrating well into the night at the Irish pub housed below. Then, a storm came in with the most wicked wind blowing for hours. It really reverberated through the room and even though I knew we wouldn't really blow away, it sure felt like we would! I ended up getting only 3 or 4 hours sleep, yet this was still my favorite stay of our vacation (and neither of those things were the fault of the inn). The bed was extremely comfortable, and I loved the down comforter. They even had a second one in the armoire, not a thin scratchy blanket like most hotels. As we were pretty beat from driving all day, we picked up dinner to go from Wildberries Marketplace in Arcata. Definitely recommend them for snacks and any other sundries you may need. They have lots of great local goodies. Dick Taylor Chocolate is another not-to-be-missed spot in the area. Eureka is oft overlooked for vacations, but certainly should not be. You are near the ocean, redwoods, and there's nothing touristy about it like many beach towns. When you visit, The Inn at 2nd & C is the perfect place to rest your head. read more

We booked our room on August 19 and today, September 12, they call us to tell us that if we want that room we have to pay $300 to get tickets for a four day music festival . We are only staying two days and our time is already booked. This is extortion. They waited three weeks before calling us and now we are scrambling and can find no other accommodations. I asked them how long they have known about this festival and they told me for a year. But yet we don't get a call for three weeks after reserving the room. read more

A wonderful start to our 17-day road trip. So glad we landed here our first night on the road. Thank you to manager Geoffrey, and greeter dog Max whom we loved. Good news: The hotel is dog-friendly on the first three floors! Great location to walk to good food and local retail. Lunch at Vista del Mar just a few blocks away we shared fish & chips and cold beers. Definitely a locals place. That night, we drove over to Jetty Samoa for drinks alfresco and then dinner at Café Marina and Woodley's Bar - revisiting all my haunts from years ago. Everything close to or at the water's edge. And an easy walk or drive from the Inn. The next morning we gleefully found our way to Los Bagels another longtime local in the region. Let me just say - BEST BAGELS ever. And organic!!! The Inn does provide a wonderful continental breakfast in the lobby area. Our king suite at the Inn was so comfy and quiet. Wonderful linens and towels make such a big difference. Big windows and lots of light. No coffeemakers in the rooms but an easy trip to the lobby first thing in the morning to bring our caffeine brew to our room. Also, met one of the housekeeping staff - forgive me forgetting her name - she was just incredible. The restaurant was closed the night we stayed. Hope to enjoy that on our return. Public spaces on every floor were so welcoming. Books, board games, and puzzles - plenty to keep friends and families occupied day and night. This place is not for everyone- of you want a Hilton experience, stay at a Hilton. But if you appreciate a beautiful old building and a staff that cares, you really should check it out. Yes, there are homeless and there was some yelling at odd times. Nevertheless we had a GREAT experience in the bar (bartender was awesome!) and slept well. The cherry on top of the sundae was that I left a pair of earrings behind. Normally I would just write them off 'cuz have you ever tried to recover something you left in a hotel room?! Not here. They called me within hours of our checkout to let me know they found them. They mailed them back to me within days! That's the kind of hospitality they will show you. If you like a little something funky and different, we would highly recommend The Inn! read more

After talking with the owner who followed-up on her own volition, I am increasing the stars that are specifically dedicated to the Inn. We talked for 15 to 20 minutes on how she and the staff can improve the facility. She acknowledged some of my frustrations and shared some of her own. As a consumer, her dedication to her business is something we should applaud. I look forward to going back to the Inn in the future. Stayed here to try something other than a traditional hotel on our way up the coast. The check-in process was easy, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I can't say enough how great the staff was. There was coffee and tea in the lobby and a warm fire. They are also pet friendly, which meant there was also a very sweet dog in the lobby looking for any love and pets to be given. This was a definite bonus for me! The room was a little outdated but overall was what had been expected. The bathroom was very small, but it is an old building so understandable. The shower head was great! The biggest thing to note is that there is NO cooling or heating system like in a modern hotel. It was freezing throughout the night. They do provide a standing heater for the room, but it just isn't powerful enough to make a huge difference unless it runs nonstop since the room is pretty large. If you visit in warmer months or enjoy colder rooms, then this might not be an issue. The neighborhood around it had some local artisan stores, restaurants, and bars to do some walking around. A lot of great shops to check out and explore. read more

My husband and I booked a room at the hotel for 3 nights. We planned to use it as a base to go to the different Redwood Groves. We ended up staying one night and then leaving. I want to be fair so I'll start with the positives. The hotel was clean inside and the staff were very nice. Now, the reasons why we left: as we drove to the hotel, the whole area is depressing. There were homeless people and people obviously on drugs milling around. As we approached the hotel, the outside was obviously in need of a paint job as the paint was peeling. As we got our luggage out of the car, some men cross the street in the parking lot were loudly arguing. As we checked in, I asked if we were safe because it didn't feel safe. The front desk clerk said, "I know we gave a lot of homeless. They won't bother you. You can walk to our downtown area" I don't think so..... When we got to our room and looked out the window, The Rescue Mission was across the street. The fire truck and ambulance came once that evening and the again in the morning. That evening we decided to leave the hotel the next morning. Since we prepaid for our room, we asked that since we didn't feel safe, we felt that as a courtesy we'd like to be issued at least a partial refund for the remaining two nights. The front desk lady was very nice and said she wasn't authorized to do that because of a 72 hour cancellation policy but we could email the manager. So we did that evening, explaining the same thing. It took two days for her to answer, in which she said the 72 hour cancellation policy was set in stone, our safety was their concern and the best she could do was offer us credit for another stay. Needless to say, we won't be coming back and would not recommend that area to anyone. In the morning, there was a crazy standing under an awning, in the rain waving his arms for at least 2 hours. If you find quirky historical stuff charming, this place is for you. Disclaimer: every room is different, so each experience is different. In addition, the pandemic seems to have (hopefully temporarily) affected the charm of this place. Unknown how much of the things we didn't like were due to virus-related changes. What we liked: Hotel is very close to the waterfront and walkable to old town Euereka. Easy parking. Each room has personality. Great view from third story (facing town, not the ocean, though) with some operable windows. Everything felt clean, but some bits were run down like holes in the carpet. Bed was very comfortable. Everything in the room worked. It was architecturally interesting with lots of nooks and little places to get lost upstairs. Cool history of the site. Good price on a Saturday-night stay. Neutral quirks: Rooms have real metal keys, and most have no tv. Odd things like a mirror in the shower. Heating and air were in the form of portable heater and fan. Reportedly haunted. Big portrait of a cat named Purrl where you can supposedly get a discount on your next stay of you take a selfie with her. What we didn't so much like: We don't expect any frills, but we wished our room had some of the basics like a peephole, a security chain on the door, any informational materials, or a coffee pot. The whole place seemed understaffed (the person at the desk when we first arrived wasn't able to check us in, slow service in the ballroom when we wanted to get food and drinks there around 3:30 p.m., no staff around and no lights on in the lobby at 7 a.m. when we came down looking for coffee, and you can't get into the lobby without at key at nighttime). Being in town is fun, but it has its drawbacks including some loud cars and loud people on the streets early in the morning. All in all I would give this place another chance post-pandemic. This old hotel has so much charm and beauty. I stayed here numerous times when Mr. Lee owned the place. I explained to Mr. Lee that some of the Antiques in the lobby were once owned by my father. He and I talked in length about the history of the building and Old Town in general. I have enjoyed my stays here and will stay again in the future. . The hotel itself is clean, comfortable and quaint. The food downstairs at Gallaghers has always been great, and now the food at bar is always quit good. The hotel's name has recently changed to " 2nd and C," which doesn't seem to have the same charm or splendor as the name "The Eagle House." I think this beautiful Victorian hotel should be renamed something to reflect her eloquence and charm. read more

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. We had one of the rooms on the top floor and it was a beautiful suite. Staff was very nice and accommodating and let us store our bikes on site and mailed us a few items we left behind. Enjoyed both the bar and the restaurant and the unique feel of the place. We took the age of the building in stride - our room neighbors were a couple having an epic all night conversation / argument, but it's to be expected and the white noise machine was very helpful in reducing noise, so definitely be sure to use it!!! read more

I would give this more stars if there wasn't a lot of screaming homeless people in front of the hotel day and night. The hotel itself is great! Located right downtown within walking distance to restaurants. We were here on a Friday night and there was a great street fair going on. Bought some cool art. Eureka is a great little town. We enjoyed the hotel itself very much. However, it's located across the street from a rescue mission and some of the homeless hang out and scream obscenities day and night which isn't cool if you have young children with you. Being downtown, it's very loud so you may want to bring noise canceling headphones with you or take advantage of the white noise machine provided in your room. The bathroom is nice but small and there is no counter space for a blow dryer or anyplace for your toiletries. read more

I stayed here over Valentine's day weekend, and I enjoyed my stay, but there are some cons. Disclaimer: it was an emotional weekend for me. I rented my room on Expedia. I looked through all of their photos, and all of the photos of this inn on the other hotel booking sites because what I was really looking for was a weekend with a bath. On expedia, it said that each room has a shower AND a tub, but the only room with a photo of a tub was like a deluxe suite something-or-other. It was very expensive. (About $400 for two nights) But it was a beautiful tub. I had done this searching right when the year started, and I'd been saving since long before then. I'm a young lady right out of college, so for me, the hotel IS the vacation. I spent weeks picking out books to read in the tub. The hotel itself is gorgeous. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming. They serve Good quality tea (no lipton in sight!) in beautiful tea cups. I was very excited to see the room. My room did not have a tv (something stated very very clearly on expedia), but it also did not have a microwave or a bathtub of any kind. Just a standing shower. That sucked! $400 and a standing shower without even a microwave! My sort of boyfriend eventually joined me at the hotel, and he went and asked them to switch us to a room with a bath and explained how I'd waited so long and the pictures online had the tub and expedia said there would be a tub. They allowed us to switch rooms for one night. The next night, they said, someone already had the tub room reserved. They did require an additional charge as a cleaning fee when we switched rooms, but they did not rush us the next day to switch back. Ultimately, I got my bath for the one night, and it was super kind of them to switch us. Plus, the hotel had really stellar live music. In the future though, I would likely not come back without requesting that room, and I would not recommend the stay unless you get that room. The whole hotel is gorgeous. The pillows are incredible, but the beds arent better than the motel 6, and if you're spending $200, you gotta have a bath. It is located in a great part of old town--and it is beautiful!--but if the hotel is your vacation, get the room with the bath read more

The building was cute, the staff was nice, the room was clean. The sheets were like sandpaper, the tiny corner shower was abysmal (if someone flushed the toilet anywhere in town, you got scalded), no AC, no window in our room for fresh air, no ceiling fan (there was a tiny portable fan in the closet)... it was very hot and stuffy. Room was CLEAN and beautiful, with quality linens, and a lovely view. Water was available downstairs with some pretty glass carafes you take back to your room. The tea selection at breakfast was better than anything you can buy in Eureka. The pipes were loud in the old house when other guests ran water, but it didn't bother me enough to use the provided earplugs. The bed was giant and I got the best sleep I've had in months. My only complaint is that the restaurant downstairs were only serving drinks. Nobody had bothered to tell us or take down the menus on the wall, so we had to go out in the rain to try to find somewhere open on a Sunday night in Old Town (good luck). Without any refrigerators in the room, it's important to make sure your guests don't starve. The price is a bit steep for what you get, but I would stay here again. read more

Beautiful room. Unfortunately it ends there. The outside needs paint. No hot water in the shower. The homeless population is very present and we're yelling outside my window at 3 am. It's right on the waterfront but there were people doing drugs down there. Also very pricey. 300$ a night. Not worth it. read more

This a nice old historic building at the edge of the cool old historic center of Eureka which seems to be returning to life after the usual historic downtown crushed by Walmart Amazon etc. thing. This place has its pluses and minuses, pluses mostly, though I have to say we feel like it simply cost too much, $275 a night, probably maximum tourist season price, true, for probably the least nice deluxe queen room. read more

I don't often stay at inns but the eagle house seemed like a place that had a certain je ne sais quoi.....I wasn't disappointed; from the historic decor to the friendly and attentive staff this inn stands out. The location right next to the waterfront was perfect for our stay. The fish festival was happening right in front of the inn! so fun....it was great the inn also has a bar "Phatsy Kline's", which is a chill lounge with great drinks. Highly recommend for anyone staying in the area. Postscript: in case you're looking to throw a party, weather it be a wedding, birthday or just for the hell of it, I would rent this whole place out, especially considering the coolest ballroom at a hotel I've ever seen... read more

My partner and I just returned home from an amazing two nights spent at the Inn at 2nd and C in Eureka. The historic eagle house is incredible, and when we arrived to find the room I had booked was not the one I had intended to, Jimmy was wonderful at helping us upgrade hassle-free. Dinner at the attached bar and restaurant Phatsy Klines was decadent and delicious, and the beautifully maintained and decorated eagle house made for a pleasant home base and refuge from the rain. We will definitely be staying here again. We highly recommend this place! read more

I went in every room during the grand opening. Everywhere I look is beautiful architecture, real art, and well thought out furniture and design. My friends and I got a room last minute during our friend's wedding which was held in the ballroom. So much space to dance, too! The room was extremely comfortable and again, so visually pleasing. I love the art in Phatsy Kline's too. I don't drink alcohol, so I love that they have delicious mocktails. I also got to paint live at a Halloween party there. All the staff treated us like family every time I'd been there. Looking forward to eating at Tavern 1888. You guys have done a great job creating beauty, comfort, delicious food and drinks, and fun for our community. *heart* read more

This place is amazingly decorated... Wife and I stayed there for a few days and just loved walking around the old building... The restoration of the center hall is nothing short of epic. The woodwork only makes sense in light of Eureka's sawmill history... so much gorgeous wood. It's worth a trip to Eureka just to hang out at the bar and stay here... read more

We'll probably stay elsewhere next North Coast visit. Dog friendly room carpet a bit stained and tattered but other rooms we saw were much nicer. Nightly sounds from Gallagher's Irish Pub easily heard from room until a little after 9pm. After that the creaking floors and thin walls made additional unwanted sounds. Ear plugs (!) provided in room if needed. Electric space heaters provided enough warmth against the November chill - good that we prefer a cool room for sleeting. Organic homemade breakfast items very tasty but coffee weak. Efficient, helpful and friendly staff. Good location walking distance to old town Eureka and waterfront with convenient off street parking adjacent to lobby entrance. read more

What a fabulous place to stay for a week's vacation in Eureka, CA....this place is so warm & charming, certainly not your average hotel.....the accommodations are wonderful & the staff are all so professional with a warmth that makes you feel right at home....everyone was so nice & made our stay truly remarkable ~ especially Jeffery Goldsmith & his beautiful dog, MAX....also Adrienne, who went out of her way to keep us comfortable 24/7... thanks to all of you for making our vacation a big success... I booked the Eagle House ballroom (part of the Inn at 2nd & C) for an event that I planned and put on in October 2021. It was a small conference with about 50 people attending, with a casual box lunch served during the day and a formal sit-down dinner that night. The Eagle House ballroom proved to be a perfect venue for our event. Jenny and her staff were attentive to our every need. They set up the space in advance, provided audio/video equipment to be used by our speakers, and were helpful in meeting each of the spontaneous needs that invariably come up during the course of an event like this. Many of the attendees of my event were from out of town, and these guests seemed very taken with the beauty and elegance of the Eagle House ballroom. Also, not surprisingly, the food served at this event was superb. My guests were very happy with the dinner, which was praised all around. I cannot recommend the Eagle House (Inn at 2nd & C) highly enough if you are planning to hold an event in Eureka. This venue really has no equal -- it is classy, elegant, stylish, and also it is attached to a restaurant that serves amazing food. You will not be disappointed if you choose to host an event at the Eagle House as we did. read more

This is a wonderful bed and breakfast in right in downtown Eureka. Our room was spacious (25) . Very nice front desk person Adrian and the hotel manager lives on the property- Jeffery. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! The ballroom was very cool and we had a drink in the classy bar! read more
