I hate to write this but front desk clerk advised me to. Tv didn't have signal, room smelled like dirty carpet, bed very hard, air con super loud wakes me up every couple hours, hair dryer literally caught on fire unable to disconnect because it's mounted to the wall. Unable to call out because phone lines were torn out of the wall. No way to call 911 or even the front desk. put the hairdryer in the sink and turned on water and used a wet towel to put the cord that was on fire out as well. From the initial booking online to checking in with the receptionist, Alysha, this was a great hotel and I was beyond surprised with the entire hotel, staff, and what they offer for the price I paid. Our King bed room was spacious with a mini fridge, microwave, and sink. We had a couch with a pull out bed as an extra space. The bed was super comfortable, my room was not old and very clean, and my view was really pretty. Parking was free, breakfast was free and fresh every morning, while the hotel offers free unlimited coffee all day and night long. They even have a pancake machine that you watch dispense the batter, cook, and then come out on your plate which the kids loved. I was extremely impressed with how good the food was, the options available and then every morning it changed so it was not the same breakfast everyday. I need to give a special shout out to the receptionist Alysha. She went above and beyond what you would expect from a moderately priced hotel. I have stayed at many high end hotels and never received the level of service and care I got from Alyshia. Thank you, Alyshia, you made my stay so much better and you are a kind person. The world needs more people like you In it and I hope that Management reads these reviews. I also want to acknowledge the breakfast cook and cleaner I encountered, I didn't get their names, but they too were so kind and helpful. Some of the walls in the bathroom and ceiling were dated, but everything was clean and quiet while we were there. The bedding was comfortable and the products, Dove, in the bathroom were a nice addition without waste as they are the type that can be refilled. Front desk was welcoming as we came and left. The breakfast is what you would expect, not great cooked food, but fresh fruit, yogurt and instant oatmeal makes it possible to be a tad healthy. read more

After checking into the best western down the road.And having an absolutely horrible experience the holiday and express, and its staff was my saving grace. Everyone I encountered was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really well put together with lots of options and very clean. The rooms i had over my two weeks on property.We're always really well cleaned, very big and comfortable. I would recommend anybody come stay here if they are going to jackson. The only complaint I have. Although it's not really anything. The property can do much about but people kept standing by the front door and smoking. And as an on smoker walking in and out of that door It got to be disgusting even though the property has a designated smoking area across the way, people still stood by the door and smoked. Second time we've stayed here. It suits our needs as there aren't a lot of choices in the area. Once we tried the Best Western near by and found it sketchy. The rooms are very clean. The bed has soft sheets and really nice pillows. There's a Ralph's across the street that serves Peet's coffee. On this visit, outrageously, not one single employee, including housecleaning staff, was wearing a mask. All outlaws I guess. This is really surprising for a nationally run chain of hotels. Just as a side note, if you're someone who is a mask wearing ='s law abiding member of civil society, you're going to feel pretty uncomfortable in this whole region of California. Just a miserable experience from management. Booked this hotel accidentally. Called 2 days before to cancel, was told "yup, cancelled, no worries" Pending deposit charge shows up on my credit card. I call on the day the reservation was supposed to start and they said "we can't refund the deposit, but we'll get you the rest of your reservation cancelled and no worries" Called yet a 3rd time when the charge was pending, and was told it was an issue with my bank, not them, and they've been dodging me on the phone ever since. I've had to do a chargeback on my card, and have been treated pretty poorly by this specific hotel in Jackson, California. STAY AWAY!! read more

Not impressed. $300+ a night and front desk staff unwelcoming and unapologetic. I unloaded my power wheelchair and luggage and made my way to front desk to check in, staff was missing in action at front desk, once they they did show their face I couldn't checkin because they didn't have any rooms ready, then tried to blame me for showing up early (literally 3 minutes to 3, and still using that excuse after 3pm). Really not one room available? How about "I'm so sorry, we don't have a room available quite yet, let me call housekeeping to see how long it will be". Never apologized for no room being available, not even a weak attempt to apologize. If your that understaffed how how clean are you really getting the rooms, maybe you should be done if the staff gossiping behind the wall at the main desk to housekeeping as they certainly are not skilled at dealing with customers. So unimpressed with attempted checkin we cancelled our reservation, then the lady had the audacity to ask us to give a reason why we were cancelling out reservations. How about customer service, and no rooms being ready despite a room rate double the competition in Jackson. If your going to charge a premium rate, you better at least have premium customer service. We stayed a little over a week and it was a great stay! Room was clean when we got there, when we needed something from housekeeping it was brought within the hour (it wasn't an emergency). All the employees we had contact with were super friendly and helpful. Noise levels weren't bad for a hotel next to a highway. I'm a very light sleeper and was never woken from the cars. The walls are thin however and you can hear your neighbors talk, what they're watching on TV, and unfortunately their alarms. Pool was clean (but stained on bottom) and warm. I don't think it was heated by anything other than the sun though. Spa was nice. Breakfast was always fresh. They always had bagels (plain, everything), muffins (banana, chocolate chocolate chip), sliced bread (white, multi grain wheat), cinnamon rolls, biscuits, gravy, sausage, scrambled eggs, omelettes, 6 kinds of cereal (special k w/strawberries), fruit loops, raisin bran), then 3 oatmeal flavors I didn't get a good look at, Greek yogurt (blueberry, strawberry), and hard boiled eggs. On Wednesday and Saturday they have bacon. Pancakes are there every day but they don't always work everyday. Drinks were apple, orange, and cranberry juice, water, and 2% milk cartons. We stayed here while visiting the Amador County area and because of past history with Holiday Inn Express' and the fact that we were able to use our points to stay :-) We arrived a little early, but we were able to check in and they accommodated us to our request as much as they could. We had requested an upstairs room and somewhat away from the elevator. The room we ended up staying in was perfect and very spacious. It was a warm day when we arrived so we definitely used the A/C in the room which did a great job keeping the room cool. The lobby area was very bright and welcoming. The free hot breakfast was outstanding as usual with plenty of selections available. The breakfast area had various sitting arrangements available. All in all it was a great stay. We definitely will stay here again when visitng the Jackson area. read more

I would give this place zero stars if possible! Based on my experience with this location I would never book another room with ANY Holiday Inn. We had a reservation on 8/24 and experienced a tragic and sudden death in our family. We called immediately and were told they would cancel the reservation. Two days later I was charged in full for the room because we did not cancel within 72 hours. I called and spoke to someone requesting a refund or a credit for another night due to the circumstances. I understand policies and offered to provide a police report and death certificate to verify my circumstances. They refused to refund my money or provide ANY resolution. I hope they are proud of themselves for stealing money from a family who is already traumatized by this tragedy. Way to go Holiday Inn you just lost a customer! We had planned a weekend get away at this hotel. The description of amenities included a hot tub and heated pool. The hotel had neither, the hot tub had caution tape all around it and mold growing in the bottom. The pool was cold not heated, when we went in too speak about the pool, the manager was very rude and actually yelled it us saying it was solar heated. That was a lie. The following day I asked if maintenance could check the pool temperature and was advised they did not work on the weekend. We asked for our room to be cleaned early but it never was, we had to call for towels to be brought to the room. three times. There were places for towels by the pool but there none to be found. I'm staying down here in Jackson for a little wine tasting weekend and relaxing. This hotel is nice and modern and everything works. I trust this hotel brand as it's all been consistent so far. No problem with check in and we even got to the room before the normal check in time of 3pm. The room was fine and nice and clean. The AC needed to cool the room down, but once it did, all was fine. The WIFI worked fine as did the water pressure and hot water. I like the Kurig K-cup machine in the room in case you're too lazy to walk to the lobby for the always available hot coffee 24/7. Breakfast is the usual hot breakfast and it's pretty good for a free breakfast. Not like the fancy Sunday brunch buffet at the Hilton in SF, but perfectly fine. There were scrambled eggs, omelets, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy as well as pancakes and toasted muffins. Juices were all you want as were the dry cereal and yogurt in the fridge. The staff was always friendly, I think they're trained to be that way. Even the housekeeping staff was all friendly pushing their big cart to cleaning supplies down the hallway. Stayed here for a weekend as it was the only place I could find semi close to Kirkwood. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The lobby was really nice. everything looked clean. I was even more pleasantly surprised when I got into my room. It was spacious and very clean. The beds were comfy and so were the pillows. Water pressure was excellent. The only down side was the walls were PAPER thin. We could hear everything from phone conversations, fornicating, other people's TVs, and just other people talking. It was really hard to sleep on the comfy bed when the neighbors are blaring their tv and rockin out til 2am. We were also awakened at 8am by a super loud high pitched noise that just kept going on. When I finally called the front desk she said it was the propane to the dryers in the laundry room and said she would close the laundry room door. She did for a while but it got opened again and the noise started again. At that point I decided it was time to just get up and check out. However, the staff was super friendly and they have free breakfast which was really good with tons of options, not just pastries. They had eggs, bacon, oatmeal with all the toxins, warm cinnamon rolls, pastries, fruit and juices. You just walk up to the lil area and tell them what you want and they put it in a container for you. It's also close to a bunch of restaurants and shopping centers. I have a claim against this hotel for elder abuse in Amador County. They called the police and kicked us (my husband is a Parkinson's patient and I am 67 years old) out of the hotel on Thanksgiving Day because we went into the wrong room for a cup of water. I asked the clerk for her name (she went crazy) and refused to give it and then they decided I was the troublemaker. They called the police and made us wait more than an hour. I had to go and get medicine for my husband. But they had meanwhile cancelled it without letting us know. Then they informed us that they were kicking us out of the hotel by 11am! My husband had just taken Milk of Magnesia as he was suffering from a terrible bout of constipation for the past 3 days. They called the police again and he had to make us leave. So, for want of a glass of water, police are called and we are without accommodations with a Parkinson's patient that desperately needs a bathroom close at hand. I've made a complaint against Holiday Inn and they were supposed to call me within 48 hours but the only call back I received was from the breakfast lead! No management, no regional nor district manager has called. Unbelievable. I'm calling the BBB and lodging a complaint now with the District Attorney in Sacramento. When I first walked in, I was greeted by an incredibly friendly and courteous young man at the front desk who already had my paperwork ready. I was upgraded to a suite because of my club status and was pleasantly surprised at both the size and the modernity of the room. It had a sitting area with a large couch as well as a microwave, coffee maker, and a mini fridge. The room came with free wi-fi which was very convenient since I had my ipad with me and no cell phone service up there. The best thing was the germ free tv remote. I had never seen one before and I don't know what makes it germ free, but ignorance is bliss. I usually hate touching hotel room remotes so that was cool to see. The bathroom had more than the usual amenities, including a shower cap, sewing kit and shoe shine mitt. There was a suprise bonus! Waiting for guests in the lobby was a plate full of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies for an afternoon snack. There is nothing like a warm cookie to may one feel welcome. The staff were very friendly, but the night shift staff did not wear masks. It was very concerning for me for their safety and for mine. I also had a room that was right by the front desk. There was a fair amount of noise throughout the night and by 6:00, the morning crew had showed up and they were very loud chatting and saying good morning to each other. The hotel was clean. My husband ( Fiancé at the time) selected this hotel for us and our wedding guests to stay at for our wedding. Teri, manager of Holiday Inn, assisted us in setting up a room block. The rooms were great and all seemed to go well. On the day of my wedding, one of my bridesmaids was unable to check-in due to her reservation being set for the wrong date. This was an employee error. The receptionist stated there was still one room available, but she was unable to give my bridesmaid the room block rate. The receptionist said when the hotel manager, Teri, came in the price would be adjusted and the other room fee would be refunded. THIS NEVER HAPPENED!!! When my bridesmaid called to speak to Teri, she was never in! Teri did return her call eventually. Teri explained to my bridesmaid that she would be unable to return the room fee for the room that was not used. Teri explained that the room block rate had a 2 night minimum clause. This was NEVER mentioned to either myself or my husband. Also if there was a 2 night minimum why was my bridesmaid, along with 5 other wedding guests, allowed to reserve only one night. Hmmm? When I get wind of this, I'm on my honeymoon by this point, I called to speak to Teri. Teri NEVER returned any of my calls! Ever! There was one time I heard her say to the receptionist "tell her I'm in a meeting" over the phone. NO CALL BACK! Over a month goes by and still nothing. I finally call corporate on behalf of my bridesmaid. I get an awesome person named Mick. He told me there is NO 2 night minimum clause on room blocks!! Mick said he would talk to Teri himself and have her refund my bridesmaid her money. Two hours later Mick calls me back and states that Teri admitted that the reservation date was an employee error. Teri mentioned the 2 night minimum to Mick. Mick informed Teri that she was mistaken and there is no such thing. Teri told Mick, from corporate, that she WILL NOT change her stance on the issue and WILL NOT REFUND THE FEE for the unused room. Mick stated this is not how a hotel should treat their guests! Mick then confirmed my bridesmaid's address and name. Mick explained that Teri was wrong in not refunding the amount. Mick issued a check for the room fee for the unused room and mailed it to my bridesmaid. This place received thousands of dollars in business from me and my guests staying there! And this is how they treated my bridesmaid and me! It was a shameful and greedy move! I hope this does not happen to anyone else, but if it does FIGHT IT!! read more

I called them to remove a pending hold on my credit card for accidental damages, seven days after I checked out, charge was still there. Credit card company cannot remove the charge, was told it was the vendor's responsibility to do so since the charge was placed by them. The girl at the front desk accused me of yelling at her and being rude to her, but yet she was the one that was not willing to help me. I booked a room here for our son and his girlfriend at Christmas and instead of a relaxing morning sleeping in they were roused out of bed at 7:00 by water pouring in from the room above. Hotel management responded but the disturbance couldn't be undone. We were assured we'd receive some kind of service compensation for the inconvenience but after 3+ months of discussing with the manager, we are still waiting. I have stayed at many Holiday Inns and am a Platinum member. This hotel ruined the entire IHG brand for me, in large part because of the nasty attitude of the owner and his mean-spirited manager - but also because of the horrible customer service I received from IHG - "Customer Care". On one of many weeks when I spent more than $1,000 on a week-long stay, I asked for and was granted a late checkout. While I brought my bags out to my car, someone entered my room and took the money I had left for housekeeping as well as a wad of cash sitting on the table nearby. I was not gone more than a few minutes, and I left the door closed. It could only have been a member of the staff with a master key. Terry the manager was rude and made me wait fifteen minutes at the front desk before even acknowledging my problem, and was of no help at all. When I later checked my receipt via email, I found they had charged me for the day despite granting a late checkout. They failed to even return a phone call until I complained to IHG Customer Care. I finally received a call from the owner/GM. He was churlish, rude, defensive, and refused to credit the errant charge. He told me he didn't want me staying at his hotel anymore! Because I am friendly with several of his staff after having stayed there over many weeks, I was able to get confirmation that they had re-sold my room. So not only did they refuse a refund, they sold the room twice! The owner and manager denied all of this to IHG Customer Care, who sided with the hotel. Note that there are cameras in the hallways - it would have been easy to verify who on their staff was a thief. Instead, they claim that the tapes show nothing, and they lied about sharing those tapes with the local police department as well. I have spent many years loyal to the Holiday Inn and IHG brand, and never had cause to reach out to Customer Care until now. I had no idea what a poor corporate structure runs this franchise. Unfortunately Deanna Needs a lot of work on her customer service skills! We are here on business in result stayed over a week! The people and staff were so very nice everyone was happy and smiling, until one morning we came out and it was if a Dark cloud came over us, when we walked past the front desk there was no smiling face, Deanna a girl we had never seen before , she glared at us , No Hello, No How are you ! She never said a word, just glared with her eyebrows wrinkled at us!! We all the sudden felt very uncomfortable and it was very clear as to why everyone was so quite, a complete different environment!! Even the poor little lady who has been staying with them for a while, as she lost everything in the fire, She sat up front with almost a scared look on her face !! So for the next couple days we had a very dark cloud over all of us , absolutely horrible! We could not change our hotel and go else were , we were stuck !! So I decided to google what to do in a situation like this, all these fun gals and all the laughter & Warm smiles was all shut down because of DEANNA??!?!? For a moment I thought she may have just been having a bad day, until the next day was even worse, There was a elderly man checking in , he could not remember his room number, I heard him ask Deanna twice & she still did not answer, her hands on her hips she stood there staring at him, I felt so bad for him, I just wanted to help him, but I became very nervous my self and even forgot why I was even in line ! In that moment with my heart pounding ,being made to feel a certain way and it was horrible, I couldn't even think how all the other girls felt and having it be you're bread winner, with no choice but to go, knowing all the smiles and laughter will no longer Be , when Deanna comes on the clock !! After reading googles article on how to deal with very rude people ,it came to me that this was way be on Using googles advice!! There is NO way I was going up to the front for ANYTHING, we found ourselves avoiding it completely and coming in threw the back ! No more laughs or smiles, how can this be I said ! We're is the manager to this place holly he'll!! Then as I sat in my car preparing for our day lone behold this heavier set lady drives by and she is staring with a glare just as Deanna did to us , not knowing who she was, we watched her walk in passing all the girls who once was happy go lucky not saying one word to any of them , to only approach Deanna and they Both walked right out front of the lobby entrance for the heavier set lady to lite up a Long cigarette ! The most unprofessional , no customer service skills , and lack of respect to all of us , To Disregard anyone around & approving of the hostile work environment Deanna brings to her job , that has affected everyone over the past days while she has been behind that desk!! Even on the phone she doesn't even say bye, she just hangs up on you !!! As we learned the heavier set Lady was indeed the boss !!! WOW is all we can say ,, Unbelievable how is this even allowed to happen ? We're still speechless, I'm surprised there even in business with all the hostility these 2 woman bring to the Holiday Inn ,, we are rewards members and never in our 15 yrs of staying at the holiday inns have we seen this type of behavior allowed nor have we experience seeing so many girls just trying to be happy and there not allowed!!!! I made a reservation at this hotel for this past weekend, or so I thought. When I got there I was told that my reservation was for a weekend in May. Unfortunately they didn't have any rooms left so we went to a hotel in Sutter Creek. No biggie. However, I made the reservation through Orbitz - don't make the same mistake I made. Pay a little extra and make your reservation through the actual hotel. Orbitz was unwilling to work with me to refund the money, even though they have not paid the hotel yet - they are saying that the hotel won't refund my money. I called the hotel and they said they could move my reservation out as many times as I need to until we come back up to Jackson. Thank you Donna - you're a rock star. I used to come down and stay here on business over the weekend....for work at a large employer close to the hotel. Management would not grant my corporate discount because no one works over the weekend. Really, that's what I was told. Glad the Holiday Inn had employees work over the weekend. Stayed here on Sat. 9/6 while attending a wedding in the area. It's a newer hotel, maybe 1-2 years old if that. Checked in and no one was at the front desk. Apparently to get assistance, you had to ring the bells...yes, bells. It was like a string of jingle bells. It was about 95 degrees outside...didn't feel anything like Christmas! The front desk agent was really friendly and pointed out all the amenities of the hotel. Got into the room, which was actually a "suite." All it was really was just a standard guestroom that was maybe 30 sq. ft. bigger, to accommodate a sofa bed. The room was nice and very clean. The bedding was nice and the bed was pretty comfy too. I was impressed with the amenities in the bathroom. They had your usual stuff, plus a shoe shine, a little kit with cotton swabs and such, and a shower cap. My only complaint was that the sofa bed broke on me during the middle of the night. The elastic support towards the foot area broke but I was so tired, I didn't care. The next morning, we checked out their breakfast. It was pretty decent, kind of like an extended contintental breakfast. They served biscuits with gravy, scrambled eggs and their signature cinnamon buns. Also had the typical breads, cereals, dairy and coffee station. I don't recall seeing juice though. The room doesn't feature pay-per-view movies which meant that video check out was not available. It was cool though, the dude at the front desk agent was really nice, should've caught his name for a shout out! PROS: Great hotel! Off the beaten path from the center of the town. Quiet, clean and new! NEGATIVES: The main entrance to the hotel wasn't secured in the late evening/early morning, especially with a front desk agent not stationed a the desk all the time (hence, jingle bells). I came in at 3:30am with my key card ready to enter but, I guess not. OVERALL: Great place to stay! If I ever stay in the area again, It'd be my pick! read more

My family and I stayed for a weekend of gold country exploration, and we found it a-okay. Check-in could have been a tad more efficient, but our room was very clean and the linens new and the mattresses quite comfortable. There is a small swimming pool and hot tub - no great shakes and I sure wouldn't be caught dead looking for love out there, but not bad as amenities go. The real big surprise was the complimentary breakfast. Likely everything came straight off the Sysco truck, but an impressive variety of things including cereal, oatmeal, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, juice and yogurt. And that doesn't even include the star of the show - really good biscuits and scrambled eggs with sausage and gravy. I have kids and I'm usually on the lookout for free breakfast. For a hotel of this category, this is as good a breakfast as I've ever seen. In sum, this place ain't exactly the Ritz, but it is clean and comfortable, the people are nice, and breakfast is surprisingly good. Was speaking in the prison in Ione for work so I stayed at the Inn. For a TINY town the hotel was amazing! Devon who worked the front desk was delightful and so was Cindy who also worked there. I will for sure go back if I am in the area for work! read more

The staff are amazing and very friendly. Ernest is so sweet he was making sure the water in the pool and hot tub was just right. His smile lights up the room. The continental breakfast was amazing not to mention you could even take food to your room.... All the hotels i stayed in wouldn't let you do that. The Jackson Holiday Inn Express is a let down . The rooms are little dingy poorly kept house keeping lacking true guidance in cleaning . Slightly dated with a faint must smell is noted in the halls . I spilled coffee in bed tried to clean up as best as I could . I came in later to find the spilled coffee and wet napkins were still on my night stand . They had made my bed up with the same coffee stained sheets . When I called at 5PM the night desk clerk Amber informed me after 5 there are no staff to clean or change sheets . They only change sheets every third day . Things are only cleaned on request . I spoke with the head house keeper Michelle in the AM about there policy of changing the sheets when soiled . She advised me that they don't change sheets no matter how dirty they are . They only change once every 3 days or check out . So glad new folks are hopefully getting clean sheets . The pool area chairs are broken , spa is taped off with what looks like crime scene tape . They do have cable HBO and internet , connections are spotty . The TV had this annoying habit of blinking off every 10 min going blank then 3 sec it was back on . This went on through my whole movie . Get a room not facing the road it sits on a busy highway and lots of car noise . Pool side rooms are quieter . For what they are charging pre room this is very second rate accommodation. My recent stay started a little choppy but ended up great. After a long day my family and I arrived at the hotel. We checked in and they turned my double queen room into a single king. The lady working the front desk checked with her manager who was off duty to see what they could do. After a five min wait they gave us another room! They remedied the situation right away. The next night they gave us a double queen suite to make up for their mistake! What a service and the front desk desk attendant was very patient and very courteous to our needs. The beds were comfy with fluffy pillows. The morning breakfast consist of all you an eat eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy.. Also they have cinnabon rolls amongst other see carbs! This was my second stay at a Holiday Inn Express (San Diego previously) and this may become my go to hotel for future travel. These properties are intelligently built and organized to make your stay easy. The property is flawlessly clean and everything you need is contained in a tidy package. There is a little convenience- store-refrigerator of snacks and drinks in the lobby in case you arrive feeling peckish. There is breakfast provided in the morning. I hadn't originally planned to stay here. I came with several other families to stay the night before a swim meet. The original plan was to stay at the Best Western nearby, but after a few minutes in the lobby, and a report from friends about their room- we drove down the street to Holiday Inn. I'm glad we did. The pool area was pretty and clean. The kids were so content that we had pizza delivered instead of packing them up to find a restaurant. (Incidentally, I highly recommend Paisano's Pizzeria for delivery. The Foothill delight and Cowboy Up were crowd pleasers, ask for plates) The beds are comfortable, as are the assorted pillow of varying firmness. The linens were great. The AC made the perfect sleep inducing hum. Breakfast was better than expected. There was a variety of hot and cold foods including decent coffee, biscuits & gravy (and Tapatio packets), sausage, as well as the healthier stuff for the swimmers - yogurt, granola, fruit, bla bla bla. The only downside was the price. Since we booked last minute we had a suite and paid full price which cost more than a stay in SF or Seattle. But I realized it was a lesson learnt since I had failed to take the Yelp reviews of the other place with appropriate gravity, and had to make a last minute booking. But regardless, the pool and breakfast made it worth it! read more
