What a terrible experience. Upon arrival I was not greeted rather I waited at the closest register screen. About five minutes later I went towards what seemed to be a laundry room where the front desk receptionist was folding laundry. I said "am I able to check in?" She replied with "oh I didn't see you, you must not have been in front of my camera." I got my keys and to the room. I noticed the air filters haven't been cleaned in years during a time of desperate need for sanitation. We went in the pool which wasn't terrible but definitely not the basketball hoop or the frog slide which I'd assume is at the convention center. The noise coming from across the hall which I can only assume will get worse. I highly recommend you avoid this hole. I can only imagine what their continental breakfast had to offer. read more

Clean, modern, extremely functional room. Very modern (new) hotel. Had a great night's sleep. Complimentary breakfast was great (loved the egg white omelets). Staff was pleasant and efficient. No negatives or misses. This was the best hotel of our WI trip. read more

My husband and I stayed here on December 8 2020 and the price was fair and the bed was so comfortable and room spacious. Shower was fantastic and I would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff that evening was excellent and morning the same. You get a free breakfast and even with covid was a great selection. They were very aware of covid standards so no worries there! Mask up and they did too. They give you coffee cup with gloves and mask and food is in individual container and cooler with drinks to take.. was very happy with our stay!!!!! Kudos!!! Solid hotel choice if your activities are around Stevens Point. Extremely close to downtown and the university. New, updated, great fixtures, solid gym and a good breakfast! Pros: A thunderstorms and a comfy bed meant I slept pretty well. Cons: Well..... I called the HEx to ask about their location. It had been at least 20 years since I was last in Stevens Point, so I had no idea. "We're next to the Applebees." Is that on X Hwy? "No, it's on X Hwy." Is that on the side of town heading to Wisconsin Rapids? "No, it's on the West Side." Sigh. Not well-versed in giving directions, eh? We found the hotel. Asked about a grocery store. There's one across the street. Can we walk there? General cluelessness. I mean, is there a light? "I think you could cross, if there's not a lot of traffic." Sigh. For the record, you could totally walk there in about 7 minutes, and there is a stoplight. Okay, so booked a suite. Once again, the Holiday Inn Suites (pardon me) suck ass. One room. Not helpful when you need a bedroom with a door that closes, and another area. Could have dealt with that, but - walked onto the floor into a HAZE of cigarette smoke and discovery that our room was about 2 steps from the elevator and ice/Coke machines. Jesus. Inquired about another suite; none available (on a weeknight). Decided the smoke was intolerable, so back to the lobby to ask. To their credit, they did mosey up to our floor and sniff around, but I'm not sure what two very young women were going to do - knock on doors and pound some heads? Had I not been at the very end of my rope, with an infant in tow, I would have demanded a refund and left. The smoking apparently stopped. and the wet, wadded-up towels wedged under the (extremely loud!!) door helped. The next morning, the person at the front desk asked how the stay was. I said, it was okay, except for the nasty stench of smoke permeating the entire floor and our room. "Yeah, someone was being naughty!" was her reply. Naughty, hell. That's what we get for staying there? How about a discount, a free mint, something? Oh, they also chem-lawned the entire landscape of the place, right up to a creek running behind the property. Seems like a major water quality violation, as well as pretty unhealthy. Not much around this hotel. Applebees (apparently), a grill/bar attached to the Ho Inn Conference Center, the aforementioned grocery store. Not close to downtown, but basically ON the highway. read more

Spacious rooms but poor management and if there is an issue, dont expect to have it remedied. Pool is small and hot tub even smaller. Ended up moving across the street to the regular holiday inn during our stay only to find it was not much better. read more

We should be able to give negative stars. This hotel has poor customer service. They did not call me until day of arrival to tell me the suite I reserved was unavailable due to me having dogs with me. The room they gave me was full of dead bugs, and they did not care, offer to clean the room, or offer a discount. They then assessed a "deep clean" fee when I left saying my dogs left "Feces and urine" in the room which is not true. They have not provided me any proof of this. They will not refund any fees, and just do not care. POOR ATTITUDE MANAGER and Guest Service Agents who are clueless about everything. I WOULD AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS. When I complained to corporate, the hotel promised to follow up with me, and never did. When I called corporate back they told corporate lies, that I received discounts I never received, they they offered to re-clean the room due to the dead bugs, which they did not, that they contacted me about the deep cleaning fee and sent me proof, which they did not. They informed Corporate I was okay with everything, which how could they know since they have NOT Called me. They LIED to Corporate, and I found this out only by following up with corporate about this case. read more

Bad weather forced me to stop overnight while traveling home for Thanksgiving, and I'm glad I decided to stop here. The room was nice with furniture and art that wasn't totally standard hotel furnishings. The free breakfast was also nice. Minus a star for the crazy loud room doors. There are signs in the rooms to close the doors quietly, but man, they will slam shut if you forget about it. read more

Avoid this hotel. Staff does not align with their own policy of "quiet enjoyment" as front desk was well aware of a teenager party continuing well past 10:00 pm. There is no such thing as a quiet party of 10 teenage boys. Awakened by loud noises and yelling in the hallway at 11:45 pm. We warned the parent and teenagers. Awakened again at 12:30 am and complained to front Desk. The hotel was allowing an all-night party of teens in the hotel and a party for their parents in the lobby. We checked in at 3:00 pm Friday and the room we requested on the top floor was not ready so we were forced to the second floor. read more

In February 2007, I was at this property for a conference next store, at the Holiday Inn. Both properties appear to be new. My overall experience at the Holiday Inn Express was okay and barely passable. At Check-In, there was a funky, septic smell in the lobby. At first, I thought I was sensitive to the smell, but someone else in my group mentioned the smell, too. My group and I noticed there were bathrooms next to the lobby. We didn't make a fuss about it, because we were sure housekeeping or management would take care of the matter. The septic smell still did not go away after we returned from dinner. It is an overwhelming smell to be accosted by in the lobby after eating dinner. It was a good thing our rooms did not have disgusting smell. The following morning, the lobby still stunk. That afternoon, after returning from the conference, the lobby still reeked. The smell remained, even on the day we left. From this experience, I would recommend staying at the Holiday Inn instead or avoid both properties. After notifying Corporate in hopes that they would correct the problem and no other traveler would have to share the same experience, I received a nasty voicemail from a staffer who identified themselves as the manager. The manager yelled at me and demanded that I return her call. I later received a message via Trip Advisor from a person who identified themselves as the manager and said the problem was due to a drainage pipe in the conference room and that the problem had been resolved. If the situation and follow up had been handled differently I problem would stay here and recommend the hotel. I wish it had, but the smell must have affected the staff to make them nasty too. read more

Stayed here over a busy holiday weekend. I had experienced some problems making the original reservation on the corporate web site, which eventually resulted in a double reservation. The front desk clerk here straightened the situation out quickly and cheerfully. The next morning, I mentioned to the desk clerk that the shower nozzle in our bathtub did not seem to be working correctly. I still don't know if there was anything wrong with it, or if I was just confused how to adjust it, but the following morning the shower worked perfectly as soon as I turned on the water. It's obvious they took my concern seriously and made sure to look into it. Then, in the afternoon, we returned briefly to our room, and as we walked in the door, the front desk clerk was straightening up the lobby. She literally ran to the desk because, she explained, she thought we were checking in and did not want to make us wait. Bottom line: outstanding customer service attitude all around, and a very pleasant experience. read more

Loved it! Checked in at midnight last night. Front desk guy was really nice. Beds were comfy. Pillows were abundant and comfy. Entire place looked, smelled and was very clean. Stay somewhere else! Initially lodged in a room that reeked of smoke, despite my non-smoking reservation. Moved to another room, with carpet so filthy my feet literally stuck to the floor. There were no toiletries in the room, no soap, no shampoo, nothing. The walls are paper thin. I could hear the folks on floors above me walking around, not to mention the dog barking next door. I think I must have been in a room they reserve for pet owners? As I left, I found the side exit security door propped open with a pack of Camels. When I mentioned my problems to the desk clerk, I was told, "There's nothing I can do. You booked with Hotwire." read more

Although we didn't have an reservation, they found us a room on a Friday night at 11:00 pm. The room was bigger than we expected. Everything was clean and well kept. The beds were comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The complimentary breakfast was good. We don't normally choose Holiday Inn due poor service and poor quality we have experienced in the past, but this Holiday Inn will give us reason to give them another chance. Me and my family wanted to go swimming, we called ahead to see if their pool was open and they said it was. We showed up and they told us it was not open. Too expensive-- I was looking to reserve a room block for my wedding. The reasons I did not go with Holiday Inn is because their rates were (about $30) higher than other local hotels, and they charged to give guests gift bags. Also, they don't offer a free room for bride and groom for booking a certain number of guests (whereas other local hotels did). I decided I wanted to save my guests (as well as myself) some money and blocked rooms elsewhere. However, I do think my guests would have been satisfied at Holiday Inn, and I actually did have a one guest book at Holiday Inn, and she was satisfied with her stay. read more

booked online, 5 months in advance, confirmation number and total given. morning of checkout the bill was over $100 more. when going to desk she told me rooms are for only 1 person and they charge $30 more for each adult. my confirmation showed 2 adults and 2 children in each room. (2 queen beds in each room) So she saw that on my confirmation and realized she was wrong. she adjusted my bill somewhat, but still $50 more. others in our group, their reservation was lost even with confirmation and were charged $200 more and one night with out a room. knew we were in trouble when we arrived and they thought our rooms wouldn;t even be ready and we we checked in after 4pm. there also was a kids baseball tournament, kids everywhere yelling a screaming couldn't go anywhere with out it. running through halls etc... pool and lobby were unbearable and nothing was done. Mornings for breakfast they left stuff everywhere and it wasn't cleaned up. lobby in evenings were the same as they had pizza party and the yelling a screaming continued all 3 days. horrible. rooms weren't replenished with coffee and supplies. horrible experience. Holiday Inn express has always been one of my first choices, not anymore. read more
