Great place, excellent staff and good breakfast. I did find out that you need to reserve your room through Expedia. I got a room at the front desk and was charged $45 more than the internet. When ask they said you have more flexibility though the hotel then 3rd party. OK lesson learned. First time stayers at this hotel. Was passing through on vacation and stayed for one night, hotel and property were clean and very nice. A little construction in the main lobby but it was well controlled. Check in and out was easy and the staff was very friendly. Had a king bedroom on the second floor and it was clean and comfortable. No issues at all. The only inconvenience was we could not find the ice maker on the floor and had to go to the main lobby. Parking is at a premium and we were given a ticket to put in the windshield of our car that said it was $7.00 to park. I did not see a separate line item on the bill so it must be included in the room rate. First time I have ever had to pay for parking as a quest at Holiday Inn. Breakfast was standard fare for the franchise, but it was hot and there was plenty of it so all good. read more

I made the reservation for standard / 2 beds well over 3 months ago and it was CONFIRMED. I land in Phx and am about to drive to Flagstaff when Anna called to ask if "I really needed 2 beds?" YES THATS WHY I BOOKED 2 BEDS! How shitty is your reservation system and staff that you tell me the DAY OF MY RESERVATION THAT YOU WONT HONOR MINE? And they blame 3rd party reservations - avoid Holiday Inn until they get their stuff figured out! WHO doesn't reserve with a third party?? read more

Nice stay - Bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Shower had a nice strong stream. Even the refrigerator worked :-) so the only negative i experienced from this stay was that a $5.00 parking fee was added to my bill. I have a normal sedan, so i am guessing all guests pay this fee. read more

Check in was quick since we made reservations. We stayed in a 2 Queen room. There was a $25 incidental fee that was charged and then refunded. The refund is not quick. The rooms were clean, sheets/pillows/beds felt amazing, room was a bit small for 4 people. I loved that the soap, shampoo and conditioner were all Dove products. There was a sports team staying so the only issue we had was the breakfast. The staff tried to refill food as quickly as possible but it was a wait for the bacon, biscuits and other items. However, what they offered for breakfast was very good. read more

I believe in offering the benefit of the doubt. If I have an issue, I want to give management a chance to look into it before drawing any conclusions. It's been two weeks with no response or resolution. That's enough time. My three friends and I checked in on June 18 for one night in two separate rooms. It was late and we were tired. However, one of the rooms was already occupied. But after a brief delay, we were provided another, empty room. The next day we embarked on an epic adventure to hike the Grand Canyon and then backpack to Havasu Falls. Upon completing our excursion on June 25, we returned for another night's stay, again we were in two separate rooms. And again, one of the rooms was already occupied. In 50 years of traveling, this had never happened to me before. I surely never expected to have it happen twice, within a week, and at the same establishment! To say I was shocked or disappointed would be an understatement. I spoke to the manager the next morning upon checking out; he was deeply apologetic and said he would look into it. I called a week later and he could provide no update, but said he would call me a couple of days later with more information. I waited a couple of extra days. When he failed to call, I called him, but had to leave a voicemail. Now, after two weeks, I'm pretty confident I won't hear from him - and much less confident the issues will ever be resolved. For our inconvenience, the desk credited us the $7.50 parking fee for only one room. Maybe that will cover parking at the next hotel. read more

Again, we chose to stay at a Holiday Inn Express and are super happy with our choice! We all slept very well. The beds were comfy. We were able to do some laundry again. The room was nice and clean. The AC worked well to keep us cool from the desert heat! The view was nice. Ahh... blue skies and the mountains! My little one loved watching the trains go by! Although the highway was close by and in view, the road noise was minimal. IMO, it provided adequate white noise to help us sleep. Plus, my little guy enjoyed seeing and calling out the different vehicles driving by. This room was smaller than our last room, but was still comfortable and we had an adjoining room with my dad who is traveling with us. That was super fun and safe for my toddler to run around freely and go between rooms with ease! The bathroom was sufficient and clean. The tub/shower worked great for getting hot water and controlling the flow of water. This is the first hotel that still has this type of faucet. I prefer them because the super hard flow of water rushing out is intimidating to my little guy. He had fun in this tub and played as he usually does during his bathtime instead of trying to climb out. Stocked with enough towels for our family of 3 and a door that didn't close on its own saved my little one's fingers from getting caught. His fingers got smashed by the bathroom door at our last hotel room. We learned from that to just throw a towel over the door. Poor guy. The hotel is operating under Covid-19 restrictions, so no free breakfast buffet. So sad. I noticed another reviewer had a to-go breakfast and gave only a 1 star review for that. Ugh. Hello! We are still working through a world pandemic. I think I can be a little forgiving for no buffet. It was nice to get anything at all in a brown bag that I could grab on the way out. Water (1 bottle), banana, yogurt, granola bar, and free coffee (in room) ... we didn't leave hungry. Under normal circumstances, I think I would still give them a great rating. My family and I agree that we would stay here again, if in the area. We just might since we plan to travel again later than sooner! Looking for a reasonable place to stay in Flagstaff that offers free breakfast? Look no further. I am a fan of the HIE chain of hotels. They offer a good value, free breakfast, and have a pretty good rewards program. On my most recent road trio, I stayed exclusively at HIE locations. This location in Flagstaff hit all of those standard factors I expect from a HIE. Value - I booked well in advance so I got a pretty great deal. We stayed here for three days and paid much less than surrounding hotels. Room - The room was clean, and comfortable. I requested a view of the mountains, which I strongly recommend. I ended up on a lower floor, which I do not recommend. On a lower floor the view of the mountains is kind of spoiled by the industrial area behind the hotel. On a higher floor you wouldn't see it as much. Another pro tip is to enjoy the view from further back in the room and all you see is mountains. On a clear day I was actually able to see Humphrey's peak and its snowy peak. There aren't any views like this back home for sure. Breakfast - Like all HIE, this breakfast was free. They offered cheese omelets and omelets with peppers. While good, the hotel was pretty crowded and the staff had difficulty keeping up with the demand on a couple days. But when it was restocked, the food was good, and the price was right. Location - The location is both good and bad. It is in a fairly busy area so expect delays at peak traffic time. But, it is also centrally located if you want to head to Sedona or The Grand Canyon. It is about 1:30 from the Canyon and 1 hour from Sedona. Both are must see locations, so make sure you have enough time to do both. In closing, this HIE is a place you should consider if you're heading to Flagstaff. read more

The staff is friendly, and the check-in is also smooth. So the lower rating is not because of the staff. It's more of the management of the hotel as there are several things that need to be fixed, updated, or just refurbished. The A/C unit is busted open (but still manages to work), the shower is cracked, the light switch is jammed so it's hard to turn on/off, and there is a stain on the light shade. I'm not expecting a 5-star resort, but at least fix these visible things so the room feels clean and maintained. The TV is an older model. There is a microwave and refrigerator in the room, which is nice. There is ample storage space too, which is also a plus. I feel bad for the staff since they are genuinely really friendly, but the management is neglecting to spend the money to fix things in the rooms. I've stayed here many times over the years. Mostly good experiences, but my recent visit a couple of weeks ago I would describe as "mildly annoying". They have a $5 parking fee and a $1 utility fee now. I'm not sure when this was implemented but I wasn't informed of it when I booked my reservation. Oh well. Now I know. At check in the staff asked if I would like to be on floor 2, 3, or 4 and I asked for 2. I interpreted this as the hotel having many available rooms but unfortunately for me, the staff put me in a room in between two other occupied rooms whose occupants had little screaming kids. This wasn't a problem until the parents let their kids loose in the halls so they could run around and tire themselves out. I found out the next morning that everyone was a part of the same family. Why didn't the hotel staff put them in adjoining rooms? I'll never know. The breakfast was ok. They mostly have dry food like cereal, oatmeal, bread, and fruit. They have cheese omelettes and biscuits with gravy too but they weren't that good. There was also a bowl of hard boiled eggs in the little fridge along with milk and yogurt. Be very careful where you park your vehicle. A LOT of people with big trucks and trailers stay at this hotel. Most of the parking around the perimeter was taken up by trailers. For some reason, all the big trucks were squeezed in the spaces that directly bordered the hotel. There was plenty of space around the front of the hotel that had no trucks. Unfortunately, a truck had been parked right next to my car (passenger side) and it was so close that I couldn't open my door. I wasn't comfortable with my car being that close to this large truck so I moved my car to the perimeter of the parking lot and that's when I noticed a small ding on my passenger door. I'm thinking the truck driver tried to open their door, hit my car, and then got out through their passenger side instead. Park your vehicle at your own risk I guess. read more

The mattresses in our room was exhausted and unsupportive. Had hip pain as a result all through the night. Tried breakfast - that was also a mistake. The Turkey sausage was flavorless, the apple juice was watered down. For the price you pay (we paid $250/nt) It is Not Worth it. I've been a rewards Member of HIE for 15 years. CHECK YOUR BED!!! Traveling from Laughlin, NV to the Grand Canyon then to our destination in Flagstaff was great until we found our bed was just made and never changed. It's 9:30pm we are checking in and around 10pm ready to sleep until I noticed on my pillow some hair. The wifey pulled over the sheets and we found more hair. We went downstairs and asked for manager and showed him the room. We asked they change everything as they did, it's now 10:40pm and we are waiting downstairs. The manager says he's going to give us free room for the inconvenience I said we are here 2 nights and don't expect free things 1 night is fine. At check out we get our receipt and see full charge. The lady at front goes to tell the GM Michael and she comes back to say best he can do is 20% off! Then the the lady tells us there's no notes in system of what happened?!! Really!!! So apparently housekeeping was never addressed about the situation. This is a PSA that this facility is unsanitary!!! Expedia finally was able to let us know they sold our room before we checked in. It caused distress after driving all day. We booked 3 weeks in advance and received confirmation through Expedia. Stayed here overnight while working on a project nearby. This facility is the standard Holiday Inn Express. It was clean and comfortable. It did not appear to be recently updated but everything was in good condition. The room was equipped with multiple charging ports that helped with recharging equipment, laptops and phones. If not using a GPS be alert for signs. Crazy road configurations in the area make getting back to the interstate a little odd. In all it was a good stay and would visit again if I'm in the area. read more

First experience in a holiday inn. It was pretty great. They have free breakfast and I thought it would be the typical danish, doughnuts, coffee. Pleasantly surprised it they had omlettes, bacon, sausage, Cinnabon, oatmeal, croissants, bagels, cereal,oj, milk, coffee. Pleasantly surprised. Not everything tasted fantastic, but hey it's free hot food! Can't complain. Gym has 2 treadmills, a bike, an elliptical, free weights up to 50lbs. The best way to write this review is to highlight the Pros and Cons. PROS Large room with King size bed, desk and an easy chair with foot rest. Bright cheerful color patterns. Indoor pool with outdoor extension. Hot breakfast served everyday between 6-9am. Elevators. Nice view of the pool area. Good location near three restaurants, gas station, and several fast food places. Friendly, helpful, courteous front desk clerk. Plenty of parking. Newly renovated hotel. CONS Only gave a 5% AAA discount most hotels give you at least 10%. Small hallways especially when the cleaning staff is working. No Jacuzzi. No room service. read more

Best hotel I have ever stayed at. My boyfriend and I stayed for 4 Days and everyone was super accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was great, there were omelettes, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, toast, cereal, coffee, Cinnamon rolls ect!!!. The employees also come and talk to you about what your doing during the day during breakfast and give you great suggestions. The pool was warm and amazing, the Hot Tub was definitely the best part, it was super hot and the jets were super powerful.I definitely will only be staying here when I return to Flagstaff! read more

We stayed here because we are IHG members. We were in a rush and I didn't read the reviews that I should have. We walked into our room and it had an immediate old smoked-in room smell. The overall cleanliness was ok but this place is so dated and needs maintenance to preserve anything worth saving. If we need a hotel in Flagstaff again we will not be staying here. Only things we liked about the room was the large bathroom counter, and full-size shampoo/body wash dispenser, and powerful shower. The staff was concerned and helpful when I discovered that, though this is a non-smoking hotel the room smelled of residual smoke.  Manager came in, and verified he smelled smoke [DH can't smell] Set up ionizer and it cleared the air for the night.  But by morning the smoke was apparent again. IHG Survey asked what could we do to make your stay better: Bring it brighter lightbulbs so we can see better, without having to turn on every light. Train housekeeping to recognize smoke, and do a complete ionization of the room. Clean the carpets they were filthy with grease,  If you have workers staying there, at least ask them to clean their shoes, or provide booties, like the hotels in Texas where oil workers stay .Clean the mold off the bathroom ceiling, and light fixtures. read more

Very disappointed in the breakfast. 2 days in a row the only choice we had was yogurt and a frozen egg, sausage and cheese sandwich for us to microwave and very green bananas. It would have been nice to have condiments for the sandwich like mustard or jelly. Would have been nice to have some sort of cereal and milk for the children. Breakfast is suppose to be from 6-10. Coffee doesn't come out until 7. The only coffee in our room was decaffeinated. We always travel using Holiday Inn Express but this one was disappointing. read more
