Morgan checked us in and was very helpful and nice. Great customer service. Stay went well. Hotel is remodeled. Didn't see any ants or mold. Breakfast was good. They had a wide selection. Coffee was good. I had instant oatmeal and Greek yogurt. Husband got bacon and potatoes. Bacon looked good. Room was quiet. Pool was clean and empty - no one used it. We needed a place to stay for the week to visit a family member in Lapeer so we chose the Holiday Inn Express. The lobby and eating area looked brand new and was very clean when we arrived. The staff were very friendly. They have an indoor pool which was a plus as we swam a few times during our stay. The free breakfast was okay. The location is idea as it is close to Main Street and Meijer and Kroger grocery stores. The room was clean and well maintained. Expect to hear the train passes by but the noise was very minimal that we hardly even noticed. Price per night was very reasonable. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a place to stay in Lapeer! read more

Mold. Dirty. Disgusting. Easily the dirtiest Holiday Inn Express I've ever stayed at. Found mold growing throughout my room. The hotel smells of mildew and everything you touch feels grimy. Noticeable dust and dirt. Staff wasn't that great and when I told them about the mold they just said "we'll get on it". The hotel is also very dated and pretty barren compared to the newer HIEs. I booked a room through an app, was charged by app. Went to check in and they didn't have the reservation so I had to book a room at desk for double the price then when I paid the double price they found the reservation I originally made through the app so they canceled the payment I made for double the price and said the money would be back on my card in a couple days it has been over a week and I have yet to receive the money or a call from the manager. Then when me my 11 month old son and fiance checked into the room the air conditioner was broken so the room was almost 90° throughout the whole day and they would not switch rooms because they were booked so we wanted to get our money back after a couple hours of being there and they wouldn't do it so because the room was so hot and muggy we had to take our 11 month old son to his grandparents. They said the best they could do was give a discount which again I have yet to receive the only reason I give this place two stars instead of one is because the guy working at the front desk was super friendly and super helpful and super understanding even when he came to the room to bring us one fan he would not step in the room because his words were he can feel how miserable and hot it is in there and he tried calling the manager but could not get a hold of the manager I just really really wish that this review actually mattered and would do something but in reality I know this review will do nothing but I just hope at least one person sees this and decides to go to the Best Western down the road. What really is upsetting is that I have not received the money back on my card or a phone call from the manager but what is the most upsetting is that our little family get away was ruined and we had to take our 11-month-old son to his grandparents read more

This is the worst holiday in. Express I've ever encountered. Supposedly it was just updated. Could not prove it by us! It felt like a 1960 Hollywood. It was rundown, dated and generally a bad experience. The staff was extremely friendly and the pool was clean and warm. The lobby is dated and dingy, Our room was the pold yellow textured walls. The air conditioner could not be used because it rattled so much and loudly. The fan in the. Bathroom was the same thing. The bed was comfortable The tub had non skid strips that were worn out. Great location. Right off of the expressway but close enough to walk to local attractions and 30 different food options. Very reasonable pricing, comparable to area hotels, but you'll find the amenities are way above average here. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you have a great stay, even if you are just passing through. Very clean, up to date rooms. I purchased a room with a Jacuzzi tub and we arrived and I just went around seeing if everything worked and the Jacuzzi tub didn't work at all, I called down to the front desk and the girl Sam said to me there's nothing they can do about it that somebody will be by Monday I only have the room for one night the only reason we were getting the room was because they had a Jacuzzi tub and now that it's broke they won't refund my money, nor would they have somebody come and fix it. Me and Boyfriend stay here here on March 26 because we had out of town party. We when we first arrive it seem OK. Nothing super bad. We had Jacuzzi Room. It seemed old and outdated. We figured it was only a day and be it okay. We we wrong. Next morning we woke up and ants we all over wall and floor. We got bite up. We went down and talked to front and checked out. Front desk lady said I knew we had ants but didn't realize they made it to second floor. They said they have management call and talk to us and reimburse us for part of room. Well the next day we are looking bank statement and they charged another 75 instead of a reimbursement. We have called and emailed all week and management doesn't return calls. It was a nice kind big room jacuzzi suite. We were able to get some sleep. Woke up and had a nice hot breakfast in lobby. Pool wasn't busy. It looked like they did away or just don't have a hot tub. Glad we had the jacuzzi for a good hot soak. Staff was friendly and helpful. read more

The hotel itself is great. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, renovated within the past 2 years, the in room jacuzzi tub was a comfortable size, and the room included and fridge, coffee maker, and free WiFi. With that being said, this hotel is used by kids sports teams and their alcoholic parents. The kids run up and down the hallways all night and early mornings. Their parents stand in the hallways and yell and drink, instead of acting like adults and going to their rooms. The front desk staff asked them multiple times to stay quiet but to no avail. I personally think management needs to post a noise curfew and enact a policy that allows them to remove unruly children or parents form the premises. We will not be staying here again unless something can be done about the loud children and alcoholic parents. read more

This place was so awesome, during the power outage not only did they have a room available but they always had great service, fresh lemonade, a hostess came room to room with a cookie cart and their free breakfast was better than any restaurant. The room was clean and affordable and service was A1. I highly recommend this place to any and all. read more

As a platinum member I'd say the property is average, and what I'd expect from a HIE. 2 things noteworthy, though, are the friendly staff and quietness of the location and rooms. There are plenty of places to choose from in terms of dining, whether you want to grab something quick, or enjoy a sit-down meal. Stacy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful in assisting us. When we first went into our room it smelt like cigarette smoke, I asked Stacy to move us so we went into another room which didn't smell any better, at this point we just assumed the hotel must have allowed smoking at some point. The next day two bugs crawled out from the sheets so 3 of us slept in one bed for the remaining of the trip and checked our sheets daily even after house keeping, it wasn't ideal and I can say we won't be staying there again. We were trying to find a Hampton Inn but no such luck. Found this this hotel and decided to stay here and grab some food as well. The hotel is fairly new and nicely appointed but nothing special. About what you would expect for a HIE. The front desk person was friendly and efficient. The pool was warm and relaxing while the hot tub was unusual. The jets sprayed water everywhere making for a less than relaxing dip. The price is fair and we would stay here again. read more

There isn't much of a selection of hotels in Lapeer; that said this holiday inn express is a serviceable location for finding a bed in a room at a reasonable cost. There are however two things about this place that really stand out. On a positive note, the staff is absolutely incredible: they are friendly, welcoming, accommodating and in general seem to deserve a much higher class of hotel then they are given to run. The hotel itself unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired. Most startling to me are the paperthin walls. It's not just that I could hear the lady talking in a normal voice in the room next-door, I could even tell when her air conditioning unit kicked on. Someone in the hallway? I can hear every step. Someone upstairs or downstairs? You'll get to know them and they'll get to know you. If you were looking for an aural Version of people-watching, this is probably an amazing place for you, but if like me you are a traveler looking for a quiet place to fall into bed and turn off your brain, good luck. In addition to this my room was dirty (food crumbs on the ground) and the breakfast buffet was marginal. But my oh my those friendly people who work there... I feel bad writing a review with so many negatives to describe a place with such and enjoyable staff clearly trying to make the best of what they've been given. read more
