I am a gold member and made my reservation, I made a mistake booking a smoking room, so I instantly called the hotel, they were able to get me in a non smoking room. I did ask about the jetted tub, and was assured it was in my room and was upgraded to a sleeper sofa in the room as well. We waited 15 minute to check in because a guy was trying to con them into getting a huge discount and had the clerk looking on websites to get him a coupon to use.. and than his credit card didn't work, but he was still given a room. I prepaid for my room, and have done so before. They asked for my card for payment, for occupancy fee??? What is that and why am I being charged? I made sure I had my non smoking room and jetted tub... still nothing said to me!?!? I go grab dinner and come back, getting a nice hot soaking bath ready and the tub isn't working, so I play around for a while and can't figure it out. I call guest services to be told, NONE of the jetted tubs in the hotel work???? Not exactly impressed with this hotel. Update, within 30 minutes, David called me and wanted to make it right, for the fact no one told me the jetted tubs didn't work. Very apologetic and even delivered a goodie bag to my room with snacks. They definitely proved they care about their customers and want to fix any issues. read more

We stayed here overnight to break up our road trip and it worked great. Good location off the highway and close to gas stations and food. The room was clean and as expected. The included breakfast was great, with lots of options including an automated pancake dispenser. read more

Don't waste your money. They should be charging $49 a night here not $189 with no breakfast?????!!!!!. They didn't even have a blanket for the 3rd person in our room. We booked the room 3 adults and no bedding sheets, pillows or blankets for the other bed. A good amount of items in the bathroom are rusted. Everything in the hallways is disgusting covered in dirt. The couch in the room is so dirty looks like it's been at a frat house. I have to attend my mom's funeral tomorrow and our flight got in late, I had no choice but to stay here. But checking out in the morning and staying elsewhere. I mean it's truck stop quality. The front desk staff can't comprehend English language either. Disaster of a hotel. So disgusting. read more

This is the Holiday Inn Express on Laning st in Southington CT. My car was vandalized on Friday night July 7 in the parking lot of this hotel. Never have I experienced something like this!!! I was parked there for 15 mins tops and when I returned someone had put grease all over it. Guess this town is very deceptive because at first glance it looks like a good place very peaceful but I guess not. I checked out because I had a erie feeling about this place right after I experienced this. My family and I did not feel safe at this Holiday Inn. I would not recommend to anyone read more

DEAD BUGS EVERYWHERE IN OUR ROOM! We stayed here the night of 5/29, and booked with Priceline. Checked in after dinner, then immediately took a nap because we were just coming back from a long weekend of hiking. Room looked nice and clean if you didn't look too close. Neither of us had gone into the bathroom until around 1 am, however looking into the shower tub there were SO MANY dead bugs in there and upon further investigation, we noticed more around the floor of the bathroom, and in the sink, and then we even found some ON THE PILLOWS! I felt absolutely disgusting to be staying in a place like this, which is NOT a motel?! So then immediately I went to the front desk and notified them of the situation, however the man informed me that there was nothing that they could do since I booked through Priceline - I couldn't even be switched to another room??? It was so late at that point that I just gave up and waited until I woke up in the morning to talk to a manager. I let her know of the situation, she was HARDLY apologetic and said there was nothing she could do because I stayed the night in the room and did not call Priceline last night. Are you KIDDING ME? What was I supposed to do at 1 am? Find another hotel right then and there? Try to call Priceline and wait 30 min just to talk to a human? So nonetheless, I would NOT recommend staying here unless you want to sleep alongside dead bugs. Also - there's no hot breakfast right now (which isn't listed anywhere) but instead it's just "grab and go" which is just muffin/bagel/juice. read more

I booked a room here for the night at around 3 pm the day of. Upon arriving at 9 pm, I waited for the concierge to finish a phone call for about ten minutes. He then told me that the room I paid for was not available and that they no longer had any rooms. When I asked if there was anything he could do he scoffed and said "I wish". I'm sure it's not entirely his fault but after reading similar reviews about people having their rooms given away when they arrived later than the 3 pm check-in, I'd advise everyone to stay away from this place. read more

I will start this with a minor disclaimer: I stayed here a few months before time of writing, so things like aesthetics and construction waste in the hallways will have changed. I have forgotten some details but others were documented due to my interactions with the management team. Even with those qualifications, the reason that they get a 1/5 from me has not changed and in fact, the story has only just come to its conclusion. We stayed in this hotel near the end of the summer of 2017. We were only there for 2 nights and regretted it. The place was being remodeled but had not stated it on the reservation. This is annoying enough but part of why we selected the Holiday Inn Express was that it was the cheapest hotel in the region that wasn't being remodeled and they listed their remodel as starting the following month. Why wouldn't they be honest about the remodel dates? There was enough work done at that point that it was clear they were several weeks into the remodel. The room was nice enough but they were not capable of containing the construction waste in the area where the work was being done. We walked by disgusting mattress to get to our car in the morning. While at breakfast, a man walked through the queue while holding a circular saw. I assume that he had a reason to be there but it is rather concerning to be trying to get some eggs while someone walks past with a metal cutting blade. The bigger problem arose when we got back in at night. Our room had been made up but upon checking the bathroom we found that our toothbrushes and full bottles of toothpaste were gone. Immediately we went to the front desk whereupon we waited for one of the women from housekeeping searched for the manager. Eventually she found someone (not the full manager but someone with a slight level of authority and the ability to fix some things) and we were told to take something from the convenience store. We checked and found that they had no toothbrushes or toothpaste and so asked if she meant that we were just supposed to take something as a "we're sorry" gift. No, we were not. She pulled out the cheapest toothbrushes I've ever seen and told us to use those while she figured out something else. It was annoying that she didn't had us a $10 to run over to Target and buy a pack of toothbrushes and some toothpaste (we never received any) but at that point it was the least of our issues. Housekeeping threw out our toiletries and we had no idea what else could have been taken if we had left our electronics in a more visible position. Fortunately, the only things that were gone were what we had left in the bathroom. Eventually a note was slid under our door (no idea why there was no knock to see if we were there) saying that we would receive a seemingly random amount of points. When we got home we found that it wasn't enough for even a discounted room. We could exchange our points for a Dunkin' Donuts gift card or magazine subscriptions but nothing Holiday Inn related. For the loss of security that comes with our personal items being removed from our room I expect more than a doughnut and a cheap toothbrush. The most annoying part of this whole ordeal was this, far less than one year after receiving the "we're sorry" points, we just got a notice that they were about to expire. We were hoping to use the points on our late summer vacation (we have had good luck at other Holiday Inns and so assumed we could stay at one and get enough points to have a discounted or free night) but were suddenly told that our only real compensation for having things removed from our room in a hotel that we were told was not in the middle of renovations despite it being an active construction zone were being taken away. Do not stay here. Do not give this management team your business. read more

I was way pleasantly surprised. It was really clean. Where some places can have stale smelling hallways, they had treated the hallways in some way... couldn't put my finger on it, but it just smelled new, I guess. Our room was equally nice. It was clean without the usual dark-patterned comforter that many hotels use to cover up those yucky stains. Some great touches: there were two types of pillows on the bed and they had big labels on their edges that said "soft" and "firm". They also had the coolest gizmo on the nightstand. It was a black box on a little pedestal. There were three electric sockets and a couple of USB charging jacks. They deserve a shout-out for those- can't charge extra for them, can't advertise them, but still they bought them. Warm cookies in the lobby for check-in. The free breakfast was not your usual "belgium waffles and cereal". They had hot cinammon rolls and my 13 yo loved the automatic pancake maker. All in all, it was a great value. read more

Now I am very easy to please when it comes to a hotel. I travel a lot for work and selectively stay in Holiday Inn's all over the country. I have such faith in the brand, like the free breakfast and wifi, just all around perfect for me. Even though my work will pay much more money to put me up in 5 star hotels, I always go HI. I checked in at 9pm after a 5 hour drive and 10 hour work day. Get into bed, flip on the Tiny TV and try to get some sleep. I feel something crawling on me. So I quickly turn on the light and see what I think is a tick on me. I flick it off onto the ground not thinking. Then the word bed bug comes to mind. Now I have honestly thought these were a myth in anything over a 1 star motel in the middle of nowhere. And I open the covers and there are 8-10 of these all over my bed! Seriously! It's now 11:00pm and I go downstairs asking for a new room and a refund because I have to be up for work at 4:30am, I need some sleep before another 10 got work day and 3 hour drive back home. Well they could only "give me a discount" and points. Don't get me wrong the gentleman at the front desk was very understanding and I know there is only so much he can do. But now it's midnight and no chance in hell I'm going to be able to fall asleep because I still feel them crawling on me and keep turning on the light to see. It's being remodeled while it's still open, they should shut down the whole place and start over. Filthy filthy filthy, they told us that's why it's being remodeled. DO NOT stay here until it's remodeled. Holiday Inn Corporate should see this place and refund everyone's money. This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had, each day you havecti go and get a new key card to get in the room and the attendant could care less want you want, she is too busy on the phone with a friend. Who ever said that the breakfast was the best, must have been living under a rock. If corporate holiday inn sees this review they should be ashamed to be associated with this location. We were originally going to stay here from May 8-22. It is so bad here we finally found a new hotel so we are leaving Here on the 11th. The room is on the small side especially for 4 people. We got a king bed, roll a way bed & it has a couch that we can't open up because of the roll a way bed so my son has been sleeping on a small couch. There is no real closet in the room. There is no room to store anything. It has dressers but no storage for other stuff. The bathroom hardly has any counter space. Now for the bad stuff! When we arrived the clerk at the desk (I think his name is warren) was friendly enough. It was after 3 pm (check in time) & our room wasn't ready. So I asked for one on the first floor& that's how we got this one. We came in & noticed the whirl pool bath tub was not exactly clean. Very old room. Definitely needs upgrading! So, we managed to sleep & we left to do things the next day. When we came back later that night, our room had not been touched! No fresh towels, no beds made, nothing! We had to go to the desk to bring the old towels and get new ones. Then, the next day we left for the day, came back and again, the room wasn't touched, no refreshed towels ,etc. So again, we had to go down to get the towels. Now the next day (today) our garbage cans are overflowing, out of Kleenex, out of toilet paper. When we left this morning my husband told a housekeeper we were leaving & she could clean our room. Well...we get back tonight & guess what?! NOTHING was done AGAIN! I am livid now. Still no new towels, garbage cans full, no beds made, no tub cleaned, no toilet paper, no Kleenex, etc. my husband dumped the trash in the can in the lobby, my son wanted to dump it in the hallway & at this point I had no problem with him doing that but my husband took it to the lobby. I went to the desk & talked to Warren about all of the problems we've encountered here & to get the toilet paper & Kleenex. He apologized. But he made excuses as to why these things weren't done. Short staffed in housekeeping, communication problems, if they can get out of doing work they will. This is a MANAGEMENT problem. This is the worst hotel we've stayed at as far as lack of service. I would not recommend staying here. We can't wait to go to the new hotel tomorrow. read more

When I travel by car I typically stay at Holiday inn express or a similar competitor. I expect clean, consistent accommodations. This place was neither. It is an older property and it shows a lot of wear. It is not even close in comparison to the typical HIE. My room carpet and bath were not clean. Floor tiles cracked, peeling wall paper. If it had not been so late when I arrived I would not have stayed. The only positive was the breakfast. It was the typical fare. Stay some where else. Not a pleasant experience. The bathroom was dirty with partially used toiletries and ants. The sheets on the bed were debatably clean. Cleaning staff was invasive and banging on the door by far too early (before 9am) and too frequently. It did its job if you need a place to sleep, and I'm sure it's better than the Days Inn down the hill. read more

Comfortable rooms. Clean and friendly service. I stay here when in town on business. Excellent breakfast. Parking spots are tight and front entry could use two way doors vs doors the open up outward. Tough when hands are full. But all and all a good hotel. read more

For my daughter's wedding we used Holiday Inn Express as the main hotel for our wedding guests. We had a terrible experience, do not use this hotel, they are incompetent. When my wedding guests arrived to check in the line went out the door. There was one man at a makeshift front desk due to construction. Another person asked him if he needed help and he declined. It took 30 minutes to get checked in. We were late to the wedding but were told the shuttle would be here soon so we waited. It arrived 20 minutes later. The shuttle had 12 seats and was quickly filled. The guests started jumping in cars, calling Ubers. We left in our car. HIE was not prepared to handle my wedding guests. They failed. We were late to the wedding and angry. This is my opinion but I am only the Mother of the Bride. read more
