It's a dump and too expensive for how gross it is. It's still the cheapest hotel in the area though if you are homeless or need to save money. The manager at the desk is profoundly rude and never says please or thank you or you're welcome. He just makes dirty looks. There are no television channels available. The bathroom sink handle breaks off. The last time I stayed here the room smelled like there had been a strenuous 3 day orgy of homeless people with no open windows. I had my room changed and the manager seemed to know he had given me a room that smelled like a jock strap and was not surprised at all to see me and change my room. So if you want cheapest in area, then this is the best option but remember you get what you pay for. read more

Did you know that the name Motel 6 comes from their original 1950s room rate of $6 per night? You get what you pay for. Even today, it seems like $6 would still be a more appropriate price for what you get. It's a place to sleep and they allow dogs, and that's what we needed for visiting family in the area for Christmas. We weren't here that much. That said, I think the next time we are in the area, we will spend the money and stay in a better hotel. It's a bed and a bathroom and not much else. The bed is too small to fit both my wife and I. The shower was dirty and the valve that changes from bath to shower was broken. The TV remote channel change buttons did not work and the TV was stuck on one channel. The water from the sink was too hot and burned me when I was washing my hands after using the bathroom. The bathroom door, well, see for yourself. Like all Motel 6 locations, all of the room doors open to the outside. If that bothers you for security purposes, don't stay here. Southington seems like a pretty safe area and I did not feel unsafe here, but I understand the outdoor-facing rooms bother some people. Motel 6 is about as basic as you get when it comes to finding a place to stay. I ended up staying here last weekend when I was visiting my parents in the area. This place was cheap-ish and close to them so it was convenient. The staff was friendly enough and check in was easy, although my card stopped working the second day so I had to walk to the office in the pouring rain which was not fun. The room itself was what it was. It was clean, small, but had a decent bed, shower, and one of the smallest television sets I've seen in a motel room. I stayed 2 nights and it did the trick. Overall, it did the job. I have no real complaints about my stay and might even stay here in the future if for some reason I had too. read more

This place is disgusting. We arrived at 3pm for check-in and to change before a wedding. We left no more then 5minutes later. After we returned from the wedding we then realize every single sheet and towel had some sort of hair or was covered in stains. When we arrived back from the wedding we asked for fresh towels and sheets. To which were met with a lot of attitude and the man at the front desk saying they cannot give us fresh towels or sheets since it was past the room service hours. Toilet had no lid on the back and didn't flush. Had to actually stick a finger in the back, into the water to lift the thing manually to get it to flush. Horrible, disgusting, unacceptable, and inconvenient. Went to home depot down the road and bought a tool to lift the flusher instead of sticking my finger in the water. No bed bugs, amazingly enough. But there were dead bugs in the corners of the room. The wood floor was so filthy, that if you wear white socks, they will turn black from filth. There was no remote for the TV in the room. Went to the front desk to get a remote. It didn't work. Had to manually turn the TV channels. Apparently 3 maids called in sick. Had a major clean towel shortage. This Motel 6 was my home away from home for 4 evenings in mid May of 2015. Here are a few thoughts, categorically: Location: 4 out of 5 Quite convenient for a number of reasons: a short 30 minute drive from BDL airport; super easy on/easy off access from the interstate; and, retail shops, grocery stores, gas stations, liquor stores, and restaurants all within a 2 - 3 minute drive. Easy and free parking around the property is always a plus. Customer service: 4 out of 5 Yes, I get it. The people who work at Motel 6 aren't going to exhibit the same polished nature as someone who works at the 4 Seasons with white glove pinky up service. But, I found each of the managers and staff I encountered to be quite friendly and helpful. For example, on two of the days I was there, I just needed new towels, so when the housekeeping staff rolled around, they were quick to hand me new ones, and then when they saw me again just walking by, they asked if I needed anything else. For some reason, my key card 'expired' the first two consecutive days, and they were quick to recode it and make sure that I was in the system for the correct amount of days. There was also an afternoon where I locked myself out, and they were very gracious and resolved my self-imposed stupid tax quickly. Amenities: 3 out of 5 EXACTLY what you'd expect out of a Motel 6: Soap (but no shampoo/conditioner), a mix of scratchy and unscratchy towels that are sized a bit small for the average person (but fine for me since I'm small and squirrely), simple furniture, a mattress that is just a tad on the soft side, a flat screen decently sized TV with horrible picture quality from the antenna, and an adequate bathroom area. There's two ice machines in the same room as vending and guest laundry, AND throwback, gasp - there's a working payphone too! If you have a pooch, Motel 6 is pet friendly without a surcharge, and this location even had a little dog walk area with little potty bags. I'm not sure how the WiFi works, but from my understanding, there is a per diem charge on it. Most people these days have a data plan on their tablets/smartphones, but if you really need WiFi and don't want to pay the 2.99 fee per day, there's a Starbucks across the parking lot, and a Panera within a 5 minute drive. I had my smartphone and my usual mobile hotspot with me, and pulled 4G LTE consistently in the area. Value: 3.5 out of 5 Including all taxes and fees, my rate came out to 59$ a night over the 4 nights. Not cheap for what you actually get, but all things considered (location, amenities, etc.) not a horrible value either. Overall: 4 out of 5 Strong 3.5 + experience that rounds up. Stayed here I stayed here when my wife and I were fighting, I had to live here for about 3 days, what I liked about it was that everything was new all the furniture and the TV was all new there's no carpet on the floor it's linoleum or hardwood and that makes a whole Lotta difference for level of felt cleanliness, the room felt even cleaner and newer because of the lack of carpet. The constant sound of traffic could be in nauseating. The staff is respectful, friendly, and professional, the mattress on bed were the cheapest I had ever seen in my life and the sheets weren't the best either. Two words...BED BUGS!!!!!! Plenty of them....a whole army, a nest!!! Brought the kids to some local attractions in the area and decided we should stay for an extra day. That was a terrible horrible traumatic plan. First the room smelled very and emphasis on very strongly of lavender mistolin. Can't breathe. Second I I'm getting settled for bed and I start itching! My boyfriend and I stayed here while we were visiting his friends and family over the Christmas holiday. The rate for 2 people was $49 per night before taxes, pretty cheap considering the Motel 6 I am in now in Texas is charging $55 before taxes. We stayed here 5 nights and our total came out to around $280 including taxes. The room itself smelled like piss every time housekeeping came through to clean (which struck us as odd) but we had a smoking room so once we had a cigarette the pungent smell went away. The room itself though was very clean. Not sure why the room smelled the way it did. Our shower head was broken and spilled water EVERYWHERE so be wary of bringing clothes into the shower with you, leave them on the sink outside. This may just be our showe rhead though. We were often in a hurry and left our toiletries and some of our personal effects out in the open -- the only thing that went missing was a full bottle of mouthwash that I had brought in. The motel advertises free wifi access.. but if you have a room in the back the wireless will not reach you and the receptionist will just tell you that you are "shit outta luck". That was disappointing. The motel is within walking distance to McDonalds, Dennys, Starbucks, and some sit-down restaurants like Chilis and Bertuccis. There's a CVS pharmacy and a Rite Aid both within walking distance and is very close to the 84 freeway. read more

Needed a last minute place to stay and I had the good fortune to stay here. The rate for the night was very reasonable which makes a HUGE difference to me!! I don't know about anyone else but it galls me to have to pay a high price simply to sleep and grab a shower. The front desk girl Corrina couldn't have been any kinder!! I work nights and the manager came into the room for "maintenance" both nights when it was just my wife in the room, walked right in also scared her a lot. Upon checkout after two awful nights staying there, we were 20 mins past checkout putting our stuff in the car, and the manager came out and started berating my wife and was very vulgar and threatening. Upon rushing out of there, we forgot a phone in the room. We went back to return it and they denied having the phone and it took us showing that it was on gps with Find my Iphone to get the manager to pull it out of his POCKET and return it, saying we are lucky he gave it back because he considered it payment for our late checkout(30 mins). Poor customer service. Room smells. Wifi is not free. This is good for like a last minute deal and only for one night stop. Otherwise I wouldn't come back. I had an issue with my credit card being charged twice and have to fix it. Update 1/11 I spoke with the manager - Amina and she fixed the issue and gave me a one night certificate. For a wicked cheap hotel it is actually very nice. me and mark will spend a weekend here if we are on summer break and want to get away from both of our parents. It comes out to about $55 a night or so, and the rooms are very clean for such a cheap place. Everything is recently redone as well. If the room hasn't been used in a while there will be dust in the bathtub, so always bring shower flipflops. read more

Fabulous value for the money. The rooms where in good condition. Parking was not a problem. The bathroom needs some renovation in the tub department. Only a couple of slight issues with the place. Front desk staff where rather incompetent with extending my stay, and gave me the run around for a few days until it was finally resolved at check out. The other issue was that the male house keeper would repeatedly yell from the top level to the bottom level {to the other house keeper} in mourning. Which resulted in me not getting enough sleep. I showed him the confirmation e-mail and he told me that still he could not find the reservation. After one hour explaining him how I did the reservation, finally he gives me a number to call. I stayed there the other night. For the price I can't complain. Modernized room (flat screen 32" tv, look and feel) the bathroom how ever were not to my standards. There were hard water stains and corrosion on the shower head, drain, and faucet. The wifi was not free, and also was very slow .65-.80mbps and half the night it wouldn't work. Stayed here a little over a week ago when they were forecasting some serious snow since I live about 40 minutes away. First room I checked into the cable cord was jammed into the wall. Was offered to switch rooms and when I got to the only other room available, which was a non smoking room, it reeked of cigarettes. After a long day I just wanted to sleep and said forget it and settled in thinking it couldn't be that bad woke up checked out in the morning I stunk like the room. The ventilation needs to get checked. Whoever was at the desk that night was definitely less than pleasant to deal with also. Paid for wifi, could barely connect.
