We found Holistic Kneads through you, dear Yelp, and thank you for that. We originally had an appointment at another spa in town, but they called the day of and canceled because the girl was sick. So we saw the deal, made our appointments for 90 minutes and got the 25% off first time visitors. We both had Llonna. She has magic hands! Seriously. When I left, I felt a little drunk, and actually staggered down the hall to my coat. Don't be sketched out that it is in the basement unit of an apt. building. It is nice inside, and they are talented folks. So treat yourself to the warm hands of a stranger this winter. ps. there is a waiver you have to sign that I skimmed. It basically says: Don't try any funny shit and ask for a happy ending, ok? Not cool. We kick your ass out for that. You like my legal talk? I should be a lawyer. It reminded me of those stories of people joking at the airport about having a weapon in their bag, and getting tackled by 40 men in swat gear who descend from the ceiling by ropes. I have tried to update my listing for Anne to her new business and have not been successful, so I am re-posting now what I had written under Glo Skin Spa. --- An update to my last post- Anne used to be a part of Glo Skin Spa. She has now started Holistic Kneads, which is in the same location. I have now gotten about 20 massages from her and still think she is the best massage therapist I have ever been to! I have also gotten several waxes from Jenna, she is also highly recommended! Initial post: I haven't tried the wax services as noted by the previous reviewer, but I have gotten 5 massages from Anne. Highly recommended!!! I have tried 10-15 massage therapists in the past couple years and this is the first one that I know I will stick with long term. These are the reasons why: -- I like supporting small businesses, but especially for a service like a massage, i like to know that the person I'm booking my appointment is going to be around long-term. So many times when I book an appt. at a larger place, the massage therapists are not there very long and then you never know if you'll like the new person. -- A quiet, peaceful environment: the spa itself is a bit hidden, it is in the basement of an apartment building, so look for the sign. Most importantly, it is very quiet!! I have been to a number of spas where I can't relax because there is too much noise. This is really a small spa, so there isn't much chance of noise from outside of the massage room. --Easy to get an appt. One place that I liked, I had to schedule appt.'s 3-4 weeks out. I don't know if my shoulder is going to hurt in 3-4 weeks and I very much appreciate being able to get an appointment within a week. -- Most importantly, I love Anne! I have never had a massage therapist who is so knowledgeable about how the body works. While massaging, she has made comments like, you have been walking a lot this week, haven't you, I can feel it in your hip. It is so obvious to me that she really understands how the body works, and so many people that I have been to don't seem to have this same skill. I usually go in to my appt.'s by saying that this hurts, that hurts, but do whatever you find. She has found my muscle knots every time. This is my number one thing I look for in a massage therapist- so many get so close to the knot, but don't actually get it from the right angle or that they don't really work at that spot very long, like they haven't even noticed it was there. But, beware, Anne's massages aren't for wimps. This may not be the place for someone who wants an ultra light touch. I, however, like when my massage therapist has strong thumbs and knows how to use them. She also kindly reminds me each time that I should be stretching more. -- finally, I like that you can buy packages and get a discount if you are a frequent customer as I am. Anne also offers Thai massages, and I have yet to try one from her, so I will let you know how that is when I do. The only other thing that you should know is that you need to go to Gigi's to make the day complete. Gigi's is just a 30 second walk from the spa and is the best coffee house/ cafe around! Enjoy an excellent cup of coffee, pastries, pasta salad, etc. after your appointment! read more

During the fall, I pulled the muscles in my lower-back, which made it incredibly difficult to walk, drive my car, and sit without experiencing excruciating pain. Thankfully, my girlfriend told me about Holistic Kneads and her great experience there. I verified her positive experience with the litany of five star reviews on Yelp and booked a time that worked for my schedule. The masseuse that I had was attentive to my needs. I told her about my lower back and she gave me a deep massage using her elbows and hands to knead out the knots. After the first half hour, I felt my back warmed up from increased blood flow due to the broken knots. This resulted in my muscles feeling less pain. I could actually walk home without limping while feeling a bit more rejuvenated! read more

Holistic Kneads is a great selection for a regular regimen of massage therapy for several key reasons. First some background: I have been going here fairly frequently and working with Anne. What I like about holistic kneads is the repertoire of massage styles and broad spectrum of pressure that she uses, tailoring the experience to the condition of your body and current lifestyle patterns. The first visit the pressure was on the soft side but still amazingly relaxing. However, I came back really tense on one visit and was blown away by the variation in pressure and rapid departure from previous visits. Anne has a lot of anatomical knowledge, as you would expect from a board certified masseur, but also a lot of chiropractic knowledge, which you might not get elsewhere. At 70 dollars an hour your looking at less than my second favorite place Sabai Body Temple and more than some places I have tried, none of which I would recommend. I've been to some of the best places in the Twin Cities and San Francisco and 2 criteria are important when choosing a regular masseur for ongoing therapy: 1) Can they adapt to changes in the condition of your body and respond with the correct pressure and style of massage. This is a must for me. Many people have a small bag of tricks, are unable to adapt to inevitable changes and get lazy when it comes to deep tissue pressure by digging in their elbows. Don't get me wrong I love deep tissue and elbows are a common technique but I've had massages elsewhere that consisted of nothing but elbows. 2) Do they have enough background knowledge to enhance your mental, physical and spiritual health. Many people don't realize how much knowledge and educational training is required to do this and for a good reason. Bad message can severely injure you and good massage has limitless healing potential. This is a must for me as well but more qualitative and harder to measure or describe objectively. However, Jill has hit all 3 areas and constantly facilitated an eclectic, holistic massage experience. Her background in chiropractic medicine has pointed out at least 2 things that lead directly to medical issues. Definitely give HN and Anne a try! read more

Best massage I have ever had -- Llonna is amazing. I went back a second time to make sure it wasn't a fluke, and the second massage was as good as the first. I sent my husband, and he loved her as well. HK doesn't have all the fancy spa amenities, but when the services are this good, and this affordable -- who cares. read more

Sarah is one of the most enthusiastic and passionate people I have ever had the pleasure to see for acupuncture. Her energy and knowledge of this form of healing makes you want to keep learning more about what she can do to help you. Some might not believe this form of healing really works, but I have experienced it and fully believe it can in so many different ways. I go to Holistic Kneads for waxing and plan to try out some of their other services too. Thanks to Yelp for leading me to this place! My experience with Anne has been wonderful thus far. I've had brow and Brazilian waxes done several times now, and each time I am very happy with the results. The "wax" they use is a great product (the website has more details about what it actually is), and while waxing can't be painless, the wax and Anne's skill provides for some of the least painful waxing experiences I've ever had. And all those stray hairs other waxers leave? Don't worry about that. You're given time after the waxing is done to check privately for anything that was missed so Anne can come back in and touch it up if necessary. (There hasn't been a need for her to touch anything up in my experience. She gets everything!) I will definitely continue to go to Holistic Kneads for my hair removal needs! read more

I met Kelly Broland in December and was immediately impressed by her professionalism. She gave me a consultation and an eye brow shaping. She took her time and explained to me what direction she would go in with my brows. Recently, I was lucky enough to visit her at Holistic Kneads for a facial and brow wax. Right away I was pleased that the treatment room was warm and cozy. I have had several facials both at small salons, spas, and resort hotels. If the room is cold, then the entire experience is ruined. Kelly has all of the qualities to rise to the top of her industry. The facial was relaxing and I felt like I learned many things so I could take better care of my skin on my own. Kelly was not pushy and did not try to sell me on the products. I felt like she understood my goals and was there to help me reach them. Shortly after my treatment, one of my clients complimented me on my eye brows. Thank you, Yelp! I've been around to a few different massage places all over the Metro and I would say that my best massage so far was with Anne. She is intuitively attuned to the workings of the body and identifies all of the problem areas, some of which I wasn't even aware, since I usually obsess over my typical chronic spots. She has a very firm touch, which is what my ropy old muscles need. I felt realigned and restored afterward, and what's even better, the feeling persisted. I like that she had classical music playing instead of the typical wood flute bong chime drivel. However, I think that the place, at least the massage room we used anyway, is a little shabby and sterile, and the bathroom is grody. I was not put off by the basement location in the least so don't let that dissuade you. I would come here so much more often if it weren't on the other side of town, but I do plan to go back. read more

The pain in my neck had lasted too long! It was Saturday morning now, and I needed relief. I had driven by Holistic Kneads twice a day since the day they opened; I needed them now. I checked out their website and is says that they did require 24 hour advance scheduling for appointments...I took a chance and called anyway. Great news! Angie had an opening! I booked a 60 minute massage and was very glad I did. The space is small, but just right; and the decor is very relaxing... and cute too. ( I want those pillows in the waiting room!) I completed my paperwork and met with Angie. She listened to me and she and I decided on my needs and her focus for the next hour. AMAZING!!! Angie was very good; very focused; and communicated well during the massage. Whatever technique she used on my left shoulder gave me instant relief...I describe it as an ocean wave pounding the beach. I left there an hour and 15 minutes later completely relaxed and able to move my head without pain. I will go back again...even before I have issues. They offer a 15 percent discount to first time clients. I mentioned it on the phone but, after that great massage, forgot to bring it up when I was checking out. So I did not get the discount. But I really don't care....it was worth it. My only worry about raving about it is they may be fully booked next time. I better plan ahead! read more

I had an incredible experience here! The second you walk in the door, you feel very welcomed- it's not a typical "salon" experience at all! After having my eyebrows butchered by an inexperienced waxer who didn't understand my needs, I put my trust into Jenna and I cannot even describe how happy I am with the results! I was referred to her by a friend after hearing about my terrible experience and although I was wary to go back to waxing- my brows needed a new shape after being grown out for 3 months. She helped me decide the best look and shape for my face and explained the entire process, she took her time and really cared about what she did- there was no rush here! For a business that runs "by appointment only" it's shocking that they can't keep their appointments. I made and subsequently received email confirmation for an appointment two days early. When I showed, the shop was locked. No one answered the phone or responded to my emails. After I left I received a call an hour and a half later by "Ann" who supposedly had been scheduled for my massage. I can't recall her excuse other than it being personal and nothing compelling. She neither sounded apologetic nor offered any compensation. Her consolation was to reschedule for two days later... Needless to say I took my business elsewhere. Such a shame because everything else here appears to be glowing. Considering their business is about caring and support, their complete lack of customer service is surprising. read more

I went to Holistic Kneads for the first time on Thursday... based on the great reviews it received on this site. I have to say my massage was so great. She (Anne) used the right amount of pressure to get the tension out, but it was never too much. She even used tiger balm, so my muscles were still relaxing long after the massage was over. The music was at the perfect level (which I think is important). I was totally comfortable with the heat level and the massage table was actually long enough for my large 6' frame (with room for someone taller). I do agree with the reviewer that warned not to be weirded out by the garden level entrance, and tiny entry way. It is wonderful once inside! The prices are great! I took my wife here for her birthday today. Wow is all I can say. Hands Down (pun intended) the BEST massage experience we have ever had. My wife was relaxed by Anne. She was extremely happy. I melted in the hands of Llonna. She pushed my problem areas to the limit and really took the knots out. Updated because now I see Kelly for facials and lip/brow waxes here. She's wonderful! The lip/brow wax is as good as I've had (honestly, unless it's really bad, most lip/brow waxes are all equally annoying, yet satisfying for me). The five start rating is really for the facials. I've seen Kelly twice now for facials and she's amazing! She provides the perfect balance of a calm, relaxing experience with actually educating me about what she is doing, and explaining what I can (and should!) be doing to care for my skin. She is super knowledgeable. So, I learn some new stuff, and feel totally relaxed at the same time! The facial also includes a neck/shoulder/arm massage which is wonderful. My face looks visibly better when I'm done with her, and I feel great. She uses a pretty expensive (at least for me) product line, and while she does suggest purchasing some, she's not pushy, and is always willing to send me home with a few small sample sizes if I'd like to try at home. If I could afford it, I'd do this once a week! read more

Bought a bundle (pay for 4 classes, the 5th is free) and have been so happy that I spent the money on something so nice for myself.
