I established care with Holistika Veterinary Clinic in 2024 with one of my cats (I have two). During my first visit I spent over $1,000 on consultation and services. Because of the cost, I needed some time before bringing my second cat in. During that time my second cat had a medical emergency -- a urinary blockage. I rushed him to the emergency vet, where the bill escalated quickly since everything was out of pocket. The emergency vet suggested that to save money, they could give me my cat's urine sample so my regular vet could run the lab tests instead of running them at the emergency hospital. I immediately called Holistika Vet because they were the only veterinarian I had an established relationship with. I was extremely distressed and crying because the emergency vet had told me there was a 50% chance my cat might not survive and that follow-up with my regular vet would be important. The receptionist told me it was their policy that they could not see my second cat because he had never been examined there before. I explained that I understood the policy but asked if they could at least run the urine tests (which I would pay for) to help us understand what caused the blockage. Unfortunately, I was told they could not do that either and that the tests would have to be done at the emergency hospital. The conversation felt very cold and unsympathetic during a moment that was extremely frightening for me as a pet owner. Fast forward to February 2026 -- I scheduled an appointment for both of my cats. A few days before the appointment I received an email canceling it, stating they would no longer see my pets because I had given attitude to the receptionist during the emergency call months earlier. I went in person to speak with management to explain the situation and my perspective. I was told they had no record of the conversation but were still refusing future care. For me, the most disappointing part of this experience was the lack of compassion during a very serious emergency and the refusal to even run a test that could have helped guide my cat's care. Thankfully, I have since found another holistic veterinarian in Glendale, California who has been incredibly supportive. read more

Our dog has been battling IBD since we adopted him in 2020. After his last flare up, we became frustrated with the regular commercial vet just constantly recommending harsh steroids - these are making him lose his hair and are not great for his skin and liver. We came here to look for more natural alternatives and met with Dr. Chau. In the short session we had today, we learned about options and recommendations we haven't heard before (herbs, additional tests, and many other potential solutions we can look into). We left feeling more optimistic about potential natural solutions for our fur baby. Our pup is aggressive and bit one of the techs during the saliva sampling - we were absolutely mortified and felt so terrible but the whole staff was so understanding. Everyone there is so sweet and we look forward to the partnership to find a long term solution for our dog. We left with Chinese herbs to help with his severe skin allergies so I'm excited to see if these help him out in the next few weeks! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Exceptional customer service! The staff here are so friendly and every time I have reached out (either by phone, text, or email), I have received a prompt response. I also appreciate the care taken with Jazzy. The staff and doctors are patient in listening to your concerns and providing suggestions. PROFESSIONALISM/SERVICES: I brought Jazzy in due to her collapsed trachea and arthritis. I wanted to find a more holistic approach rather than have her on oral steroids. We did an acupuncture package, which also came with an additional service (see below for what we have experienced). We have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Magda and Dr. Lane. They treated Jazzy with lots of love and care. I also appreciated that they would read Jazzy's body language and recognize when we needed to pause treatment to allow Jazzy to settle. - acupuncture - cold laser - chiropractic adjustments - ozone therapy - herbal supplements - sensitivity screening (highly recommend to have one done!) The results of the above treatments we had have been outstanding! Jazzy appears more youthful and energetic, and her mobility has improved so much! The herbal supplements had been helping with her cough but suddenly didn't. I saw an internal medicine doctor, and Jazzy is now on an inhaler, which has improved her coughing. CLEANLINESS: Office and two exam rooms are very clean. I have been in all three areas, and they do a good job of ensuring it is clean and odorless. NOTE: They do not have a waiting room (very tiny), so when you arrive, you do have to wait outside or in your car. I highly recommend bringing your pets here for acupuncture. I brought my girl Luna for well over a year, at first weekly, then bi-weekly and later every three weeks for maintenance. The team here is so wonderful and kind. All three vets, Dr. Magda, Dr. Lane and Dr. Van Zant were always so attentive and actually read notes from the last visit and asked how she was doing at the time to determine what spots to hit with the needles. The techs were also AMAZING, I cannot tell you just how much it meant to have them care for Luna. A special shout out to my girl, Danielle, who would sit there listening to my random useless facts, would laugh whenever Luna would sigh and side eye her, and of course would talk about her own old baby and share her stories and hold back tears with me. The pricing here is competitive, and if you get the acu package, you get an additional service. Luna always got the laser in addition to her acupuncture because that's what made the most sense for her. I never had any issue scheduling for rescheduling, Michelle was always so so helpful. I actually stopped taking Luna in December because she seemed like she was tired and just needed to spend the rest of her days relaxing at home. February, she turned 14 and gave us a very active month full of energy. Just last week we had to say goodbye to her, and I wish that I had gotten the chance to take her in one last time for the team to say goodbye. Excellent service and space for animals and humans. We arrived and were welcomed into our room with two comfy couches, one for doctor and other for patients and their human family members. The distance between both was helpful for anxious cat like ours. The doctor was respectful to not come close and announce when getting closer to do some observations. At some point, our cat got nervous due to the doctor's close proximity and I took part of the stethoscope up to my cat's body while she listened to the heart. I appreciated her listening to us in knowing what our cat needs to be more comfortable in getting checked up without any drugs as other places have done. I have been seeing Dr. Magda since COVID, when she saved my cat's life. That's not an exaggeration. My cat was incredibly ill from food allergies. She was losing weight rapidly, her skin was bleeding, and she was going downhill. Dr. Magda is a miracle worker. When I got a puppy, I knew she had to be his vet, too! When my puppy was sick, Dr. Magda successfully cured an intestinal infection with Chinese herbs. We're also seeing Dr. Chau for our second dog, and she is incredible too! Dr. Magda & Dr.Chau they saved my dogs life . My pit bull had severe skin allergies he was bleeding from scratching. The regular vets put him on steroids & antibiotics he got worse and worse. I spent several thousands of dollars on 3 vets including skin allergies specialist but he just kept getting worse. After two weeks of waiting, with less then 24hours before our appointment (that was paid for in full), Holistika canceled my appointment with the reasoning being: " it is becoming clear that this is not the right fit for either of us. We are cancelling your appointment and refunding your deposit." This is after they wanted to reschedule because of the doctor not feeling well, I said I don't care, my dog is in pain, they said oh actually the doctor can see you... Then I asked a few questions about there services, pricing and timings. Thats when I received that message and had my phone number blocked from communication...(I still haven't gotten my refund yet) Maybe the doctor is amazing, I'm sure she is, but they have a very very bad case of customer service elitism and 0 accountability. Plus the disrespect and disregard for thier customers time and dare I say, for my pets (or possibly any pets) health. I took my dogs here based on reviews. Our goal was to improve the wellness of our dogs as they had become lethargic and were looking bloated. We are athletic, and we wanted our once energetic dogs to get their spark back. We thought it could be a hormonal imbalance from spay and neutering. Dr. Lane recommended a food sensitivity test first and educated us on certain supplements that could help their foundational health. She then gave us the basics on nutritional requirements for dogs. Since then, we have converted to a raw food diet for our dogs while staying away from foods that they are allergic too based on the labs ordered by Dr. Lane. Our dogs have become lean and athletic again--and we are happy to say that this year we do not have any flea problems (its mid August) and have not used any harsh chemical flea control products or pesticides. This review is long overdue. Holistika is a unique clinic that treats your pets unlike most other vet clinics. Maybe you follow well-known holistic/integrative vets like Dr. Judy Morgan & Dr. Karen Becker on social media, and you wish you had a clinic with these type of vets that take a holistic approach to your pet's health. Well, if you live in and around the LA area, you are in luck with Dr. Magda and co. They are honest, kind, and really care about your pet's health. I have been taking my pets to them since around late 2021 or early 2022, and wouldn't take my pets anywhere else. It is worth the 30 mile drive. My oldest dog Travis is about 12.5 yrs old now, and I believe that if it was not for Holistika's natural treatment approaches (including pretty extensive use of Chinese herbs), he would be walking poorly, if at all, and would not be as alert and playful. Going on long walks and exploring is still one of his favorite activities. Once in a while he still does the "zoomies" in the backyard. I recently received an email that Holistika added two more vets to their rotation, so it is great to hear they are growing. Because this is one of those vet clinics that you don't realize how great they are until you don't have one within driving distance to take your pets for treatment. Especially when allopathic (modern!?) medicine vets might be recommending all types of chemical and surgical interventions, often times without trying more unintrusive approaches first. Yikes! (not always their fault, as that's what they are taught in vet school and to not question anything or think outside the box). I'll start by saying that I struggled with whether I should post this review, but was encouraged by the person who recommended this vet to me, in the hopes that they would hear this feedback. In short, the staff is astonishingly rude. They accepted a non-emergency walk-in right before my appointment, then made me wait for 30 minutes while they took care of that patient and when I asked for updates on when we would be seen by the doctor, I was told my "energy" wasn't a fit and I should go elsewhere as they wouldn't honor my appt. or see my dog after 45 minutes of waiting. It was literally insane. Sequence of events were as follows: I arrived for my appt ten minutes early and called the front desk to let them know I was outside. They said "we'll be out in a few minutes" -- I said ok, sounds great. After 15 minutes I called back - it's only 5 minutes after my appt time so no big deal, but I said "hi just checking in" and they said "we're so sorry for the wait! We'll be out in a few minutes." I said ok! No problem! Then got out of my car (and the AC), thinking me and my dog would only be in the heat for a few minutes. I was actually trying to be considerate because my car is loud and there was a doctor on the porch talking to patients nearby and I didn't want my engine noise to disturb them. As I'm waiting outside by my car petting my dog, a nurse comes out and she says: "we'll be out for your dog in a few minutes" and now its 11:15, 15 minutes past my appointment and I said "this is the third time you've said that, but do you know how long?" I was a little impatient by this point, but it still wasn't a huge deal. She promised "soon" and went back inside and I did some work on my phone and pet my dog who was now panting. I was thinking I should get back into my loud car so my dog could get some AC when a woman I hadn't met yet walked out (I think she said she was the front desk manager?) and kind of confronted me aggressively with: "I heard you're mad about having to wait." I was surprised because I wasn't mad so I was like "...No? I'm not mad, I was just trying to get an eta -- when do you think you could see us?" And then she said: "I can't predict the future! When you go to the doctor, do you expect to be seen right away?" I explained that I just wanted to know if I should put my dog back in the car and turn on the AC or if we should we keep waiting outside. (It was super hot and we'd been waiting for at least 30 minutes at that point). And she repeated her "I can't read the future" line and added an "these are animals not humans, we don't know how long things will take!" Like, if this was an emergency room, I'd totally understand, but this is a holistic vet, why even have appointments if you don't honor them?? It was so awkward and confrontational that I literally said "it feels like you're mad at me" and then the front desk manager said: "energetically, I don't think this is a fit." It honestly felt like she was trying to get me to leave the whole time, that she'd decided I was a bad person and no amount of me being calm was going to convince her otherwise. So, I said, "do you not want to see us?" And she was like "well do you want to wait?" And I was like "yeah, we do but if it's going to be a really long wait then should we get back in the AC of my car?" And then she just turned her back and walked away without a word. To her back I was like "ok so we'll just stay out here" and then she turned and said "we'll refund your deposit" and then kept walking. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I paid them a $195 deposit for this appointment. Look, I respect sticking up for your staff and blocking them from bullies -- that is so important, but that's not what was happening today. This front desk manager was the bully -- she came out just wanting to argue with me and attacking me. I felt like I was being gaslit to believe I was pushy and rude and I wasn't. It was so bizarre. Dr. Magda thoughtfully talked out the issues we wanted to address. She is extremely professional and kind, with ivy-league training to complement her holistic approach. This is THE first veterinarian I (just me) would comfortably recommend to responsible pet owners in Los Angeles County. ModernAnimal is (and has been) wonderful too, for general check-ups for sure. I do recommend them. But, these beautiful (and specialized) humans at Holistika really knock it out of the park, and I for one am very grateful. Listen. I love finding great places. I love meeting wonderful people. I love talking and listening and discovering others who also love to talk and listen. I love businesses that provide excellent services or products and that charge a reasonable, affordable fair price, !!ESPECIALLY!! on services or products that are entirely health related- mental, physical or otherwise. And, I love finding than in a veterinarian more that anything. Why?! Why?! Obviously this must be your first time having a pet here in Los Angeles. It's an anomaly in Los Angeles to find all that, or ANY of that, in a vet in Los Angeles. It's a unicorn! It's impossible in Los Angeles County. It does NOT exist here. *This does not mean I don't want these businesses to make money. On the contrary. Do it! Live a great life. But, this is health we're talking about here. So it was my turn to LISTEN. So I listened. I was given options, not pushed into them. And I left with a reasonable bill. I felt like I actually made the right choice for once concerning the vet visits for my dog. I felt happy, content, and even comfortable. Even with my weird and very vegan lifestyle. They took it all into account. Had a consult with Dr Lang on 4/3. They don't let you go in at all (even though the state is opening up). Their landlord won't allow them to and this won't be updated even as regulations change within the city. It's in their "lease" The video consult that was promised, did not happen, on the app they REQUIRE you to download. Before giving me my dog back, they tried to upsell me on treatments and supplements. They OVERCHARGED my credit card, (discovered this today). Oh yeah, and I was promised notes on his visit by Monday, today is Tuesday, and I have nothing. UPDATE: I GOT NOTES BUT THEY WERE FOR ANOTHER PET AND DID NOT PERTAIN TO MY DOG........ Essentially I would NOT recommend this place. I know covid has caused a lot of changes, so I am flexible (I am a frontline RN) so I know this firsthand. But this is my fur child, and this place is not highly suggested. Even my vet and the emergency vet in studio city allow you to go in with your pet. As a first time visit when you're trying to see if this is a good vet for treatment and rehab, you should be able to go in, at the very least for the initial visit. This review is long-overdue and well-deserved. We brought our 15 year old dog to Dr. Magda essentially for end of life palliative care last year. He had a few compounding issues and his regular vet told us there was nothing else he could do to help and he probably wouldn't live much longer - as in a matter of weeks. I did not go to Holistika expecting a miracle - I told Dr. Magda that I knew he wouldn't be around much longer, and just wanted to see if there was anything we could do to make him more comfortable for whatever time he had left. Dr. Madga was kind, thoughtful, and detailed with his intake and care. She recommended a diet change and adding a Chinese herb to his routine, and we were SHOCKED by the difference this made. His energy and appetite increased within days, and over the next few weeks we were so surprised to see him up and walking more than he had done in months. Over the holidays, we messed up and didn't get enough of his herb to cover us while traveling (our fault, not Holistika's), and we saw such a difference in just 2 days without the herb we drove back several hours for a refill, which they kindly accommodated us for despite it being the day after Christmas. All told, my dog ended up living another SIX MONTHS, and I know his quality of life during that time was greatly improved by the care Dr. Magda provided. When it was time for us to ultimately say goodbye, the team sent us a kind card and picture of my dog acknowledging the loss, which I thought was above and beyond and a real testament to the care this practice takes, both for their furry and human patients. We'll be back to Holistika next week with our new dog to see Dr. Van Zant who just joined the practice, and I'll update this review after that. I cannot start this review without giving props to her assistant Cassidy as well. They're extremely knowledgeable, professional and have an amazing customer service! This lady is a veterinarian who looks outside the box! Did I mention she graduated from PRINCETON?! With that said, she welcomes incorporating a holistic approach with her top of the line education and training! Her goal is to to treat the actual causes and not just the symptoms. If you're not sold on her yet I will continue. Since covid-19, I'm sure you have noticed what a pain in the butt it is booking appointments with your regular vet. I called two prior vets that I would go to only to have a month turn around time for a visit. The customer service one would expect from their vet has depleted, regardless of how long you've been going to them. I don't know if this has happened to everybody but this is my personal experience. When I think about a house call from a vet, I think no way could I afford such a luxury! Every place I've called for a mobile visit started with a certain set price and each additional 15 minutes was some absurd cost. I considered it more than an arm and a leg. This is not the case with Holistika! A trip to a vet in valley village for my Boston terrier ended up being $380.00. (for a skin allergy which was treated with a flea treatment) Holistka came to my house for the allergy issue that had not subsided, and to for a check up / vaccinate my new puppy! I think the total cost was $350! My dog had been suffering from some type of dermatitis for about three months before I reached out to Holistika. After about a month we were finally able to kick my dog's allergy! Anybody who's gone through this knows what an accomplishment this is! You do have to stick to it, but with a combo of Chinese herbs, mushrooms and two rounds antibiotics we did it!! Dr. Magda and all Cassidy are young , but don't let that fool you! They are extremely knowledgeable and know their s#%!. I think it's better when you're younger because you have more of an ambition to learn and hustle to make it! They always go above and beyond to accommodate their customers. It feels like family whenever you call, which is hard to come by nowadays. You won't feel like you are being ripped-off, for lack of a better word, the prices are affordable and fair. They were patient with my questions and fingers crossed my cats chronic yeast infection is much better now after an ear cleaning and treatment. We met Dr. Magda at the integrative veterinarians office where I used to take my dogs. We were always happy with her and appreciate the holistic approach first. We mostly worked with Cassidy, who was an amazing vet tech that did my dog's laser therapy, stretching, and water treadmill therapy. However, my frustration with that office when trying to see an actual doctor was never a secret. They were always hectic and seemed short staffed; regularly running at least 30 minutes behind. Once COVID changed things, it became more like 2 hours behind. Imagine my elation when I found out that Dr. Magda opened her own practice, and Cassidy went too! My dog was misdiagnosed at the previous practice by a different vet, and after a return visit which still didn't solve the issue, I remembered Holistika and promptly made an appointment. We had a FaceTime call ahead of my dog's appointment, and we went over everything that was going on. She already had a plan in mind when we arrived. She then got on the PetPro app, that essentially put me in the room with my dog while she was being examined, so we could point things out to one another, which is unheard of due to COVID. Thanks to Dr. Madga, we found the issue and I'm now taking care of it. I shudder to think what would have happened had I not come to Holistika from the other practice. I know this is a few months late coming but better late than never right. I found this place via Yelp, searching for Holistic vets for my Baby, Phoenix. I had been a whole year with Phoenix and dealing with constipation issues and when I say constipation, I do not mean slight. Phoenix had been hospitalized, had several deostopations, had ultrasounds, blood tests, all year by various vets and locations. And not to mention the amount I spent was well over 15,000. I said, why not try holistic. Not walking away from his primary doctors but had this to his routine. OMG, I thank God I did because Dr. Magda saved his life. He had lost so much weight from the vomiting and bouts of diaherrea to the constipation and the medications.... I brought him here in December of 2021. Started Acupuncture. Came back in January, did a Fecal Transplant. Also, around that time, did the Ozone treatment. Phoenix is pooping daily, happy and up to 9.3 pounds from 7.6 in January. He runs crazy playing daily and is happy again. Thank you for helping my baby boy. Now his half-brother Kismet has a slight elevated pancreas, so I am starting some laser treatments on him next week. Where do I even begin? Our eight year old lab mix all of a sudden stopped eating, was vomiting, and peeing blood. Let me just say when I left the office for my pet's first appointment I was on cloud nine! After years of traditional vets and the doubts I carried, my visit (and many after) to Holistika was a breath of fresh air and a blessing! Dr. Magda sees my pet and she is phenomenal. My previous vet was suggested surgery and anesthesia to remove a blister and a small cyst. This did not thrill me... hence my search and discovery of Holistika. Holistika Veterinary is one of kind. My Wendy Bear was diagnosed with osteosarcoma 2 months ago. I felt like a holistic route was a necessary route to maintain her quality of life. I absolutely cannot recommend dr Magda and her team enough. My dog had been dealing with severe yeast issues for about two years causing her to lose hair, her skin to turn black and be very itchy. Every doctor I went to could only offer me steroids and antibiotics which did work at first and then the yeast came back worse. I was desperate to find a solution for my dog and when I came to dr Magda she assured me she could help and showed me some before and after photos of other dogs she had helped with yeast overgrowth She was extremely caring and really took the time to listen to all of my dogs symptoms. Her office is set up more like a living room which I also liked. She told me the process would take about 6 months using a combination of three Chinese herbs as my dog had a severe case. Dr. Magda is a diamond in the rough. Her intuition and intelligence is beyond the scope of any vet I have ever met. She looks 'outside the box ', under the box, in all different boxes to find the right treatment and cure. She find things and tries things that other vets may not because she is eastern medicine meets western. She discovered a bladder infection in my baby Spirit that was missed. He had an acute kidney episode that landed him in the hospital with a guarded prognosis that he would make it out-- but he did. We were told that his kidney values would climb once home and not go back down. We took him to Dr. Magda and her team and they went to work on him with Accupuncture, Chinese enemas, laser on the kidney, western meds where needed. Well... Spirit is now being called a miracle dog by a renowned Nephrologist -- because his kidney values in the hospital that were 12. 9 are now -- 5.4. And he is strong and continuing to improve. The vet at Holistika gave my cat a PureVax rabies vaccine, which is safer than other vaccines. The vet was very communicative and kind. My cat was terrified by being in a cat carrier, driving, and being in a strange place with strange people. But the vet and her technician were able to give her an exam and give her the vaccination. Dr. Magda helped my 7 week old puppy survive puppy strangles. My puppy was able to receive immediate attention through a house call visit. You can also visit through the clinic (which you stay in your call and they will take your pet inside) and then you can video chat them during the appointment. Dr. Magda and her team (Cassidy & Brianna )are AMAZING!!! They have taken such great care of two of my dogs Bentley and Ace. Ace was recently diagnosed with a cancer and they really have made this devastating diagnosis much easier to deal with. Ace despite his diagnosis is thriving. They are great and communication and getting back to you with solutions and care. You can tell they really care for animals and there's an ease with knowing my pets are finally in good hands. They are also set up amazingly despite COVID-19. You can virtually see your pet getting an exam via TeleVet. They also work closely to keep cost in mind. I'm so thrilled to have finally found a vet that takes a more holistic approach to dog health and care. All I can say is I wish I had found her practice sooner. DO NOT HESITATE - BRING YOU'RE PET HERE. I've never written a review before and this one is overdue. After doing some deep research on where to bring my ailing pup, I came across Holistika and Dr. Magda. What a godsend! My dog was yelping in pain every time he would try to sit and stand up. Dr. Magda ran standard tests and said all his vitals looked good and that she would like to try acupuncture. Wowza, about 30 minutes he came waltzing out into the parking lot pain free. Dr. Magda is simply the BEST vet I have ever met! To be honest she's the best vet or doctor I have ever met. I want her to give me my annual physical! She treats animals holistically however will also prescribe conventional medications when needed. I have 3 dogs--6 months, 8 and 14. She came to see about putting my 14 year old English Labrador, Ruby, down because she had not been doing well. She examined her, gave her acupuncture and suggested putting her on Prednisone which we did. (I know there are side effects but we discussed it and she's 14 so...) She is so much better now. She gave our Ruby some more time with us which is really all I could ask for. She called and followed up the next day. Dr. Magda's educational background is quite impressive--Princeton and University of Pennsylvania. But more importantly, she has a wonderful bedside manner and is truly compassionate, caring and knowledgeable about animals. Her assistant Paloma is also kindhearted and well-informed. Dr. Magda is an amazing vet! She has a real passion and talent for holistic treatment, but also uses western treatments as appropriate. She has taken excellent care of our aging cat for the past 3 years; we were delighted to find out that she offers house calls as part of her new practice -- the visit was so convenient and she even uses a video conference system so you can be present for your pet's appointment in a covid-safe manner. I've been going to Dr. Magda for a few years now. She's truly incredible in every way. She was patient with both my cat and me when I didn't understand why my cat was so sick. Dr. Magda kept suggesting my cat was having allergies to her food, and I was resistant to getting blood tests for allergies. When I listened to Dr. Magda's advice and we got the test back, it showed my cat was indeed having allergic reactions to everything I was giving her, including some really nice supplements which were made to boost the cat's immune system (oddly enough haha). It's now been a few years and I'm happy to report we are still following the doctor's advice. Kitty is happy and so healthy! I tell all my friends Dr. Magda saved my cat's life when other vets wanted to put my cat on steroids without getting to the root cause of my cat's illness! Of course Dr. Magda also sees my puppy now.
