This veterinary hospital is one of the best I've been to. Everyone was so sweet and kind and they took such great care of my dog. I moved back to LA around 3 ish years ago and have since been looking for a vet where I feel comfortable, nothing is rushed and prices are VERY reasonable compared to other places I've been to. I even was able to get somewhat of a last minute appointment with them and they were so great about calling to get me an even earlier time. I've had my fair share of visits with the vet because anytime somethings wrong with my dog, I try and get it checked out right away. The people here are very kind, thorough, they make sure to ask all the questions and also answer all the ones I have. Again, prices are super reasonable too especially with some others in the area I've tried out. If you're in the La Crescenta/ La Canada area, I HIGHLY recommend this place. I never go out of my way to write negative reviews, but I felt this needed to be said because I can't shake this HORRIBLE experience I had with Dr. Youn. I brought my dog in for her annual check up and she had some crusting around her lip so I asked the vet tech to have the doctor take a look. When Dr. Youn came out, he casually mentioned that he had shaved her entire chin to clean the area. I did not consent to anything beyond a basic look. Instead, Dr. Youn decided on his own to shave off my dog's entire chin with ZERO communication and ZERO explanation beforehand. I was never asked for permission and I wasn't informed this would happen before it was done. I only found out after the fact, when he strolled in like it was no big deal. No heads up. No "can I do this." Just done. That is not how veterinary care is supposed to work. Vets are supposed to inform and get consent from owners before altering their pet in any way, this is basic professional practice, not an inconvenience to skip because it seemed minor to him. read more

I witnessed a man leaving this Vet with his cream colored Shepard mix dog and because his dog got excited about another dog in the parking lot, he threw his dog in the back of his truck and was abusing his dog. The dog was crying and I told him to stop, he then sped off. I went inside to report it to the women (Diana) at the front and she just said...OK. That is concerning since she works with animals​. Telling us we are difficult, no we are not, we just don't appreciate liars. Pure and simple. Few appointments ago we noticed Dr Youn (owner as well), was giving us the run around and when we told him, please stop trying to upsell us, and let's just treat the problem we originally came for. He didn't like that. I call it how I see it. As for the staff, all dull and not friendly at all at least to us. I guess you have to be in their "La crescenta white" group, to be treated fairly. Please do not entrust your pet's life to Dr. Youn. It's taken me over a year to find the strength to write this, as I'm still grieving the loss of my beloved cat, Piper -- a loss that I believe was entirely preventable. Dr. Youn misdiagnosed Piper's kidney issues and prescribed a medication whose side effects ultimately led to her death. In August, he urged us to put her down -- but thankfully, we didn't listen. Despite his prognosis, Piper continued to live and fight until January. After seeking second opinions, multiple vets confirmed that it wasn't her kidney condition that took her life -- it was her reaction to the medication Dr. Youn had prescribed. One of the most baffling and disturbing moments was when Dr. Youn told us, "I usually only treat healthy animals." You're a veterinarian -- what does that even mean? I've reported Dr. Youn to the veterinary board. And as I write this through tears, I can't help but feel that if we had taken Piper to our current vet instead of Dr. Youn, she would still be with us today. read more

Complete rip off. was told my dog (bulldog -which are prone to yeast in ears) needed lab work to diagnose ear redness. That Added $70 to tab. Total bill for exam & ear cream? $237. If "Los Angeles Vets" was a category on the game show, "Family Feud"; the number one survey response would be, "Are horrible". It is insanely difficult to find a great vet in this city which is the opposite of what one expect. I was told, by a vet actually, that it is because there is so much competition/the market is so saturated that many don't care to be at the top of their game. I've been to quite a few vets as my Queen, a long -haired Calico Tortie deserved golden treatment and because at 17; she was in renal failure and nearing the end of her days. I have now officially found an amazing vet clinic but sadly not the in the context I would have liked. Please bear with me as this review is insanely difficult to write as I fight back tears in the midst of my painful loss and grieving. As mentioned, my soul mate is a cat named Agora I have owned since I was 19 years old and she was only 8 weeks (I am a few months shy of turning 37). She was my right-hand (wo)man for 17 years and been through every single adult milestone. I am convinced we have spent past lives together and are connected for all eternity in future lives to still be lived. Unfortunately, Agora was not immortal and started to suffer from health issues (including terminal renal failure) as her body began to shut down preparing her for the Rainbow Bridge. The Grim Reaper was sitting on my couch waiting to take her as I fought him tooth and nail, clawing at him to leave my baby alone. Hoping for one last ditch effort, I found Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital and called to make an appointmenT. Diane, the receptionist/client services lady answered and let me tell you: she is the best vet receptionist in Los Angeles, I kid you not. All Yelp vet reviews complain about the rude, horrible receptionists who seem to hate their jobs. Diane is a gentle, calming mama who patiently listened to me through my tears, offered apologies and basically held my hand metaphorically. Their only opening was on a Tuesday (I called on a Thursday) but in the mean time they email you paperwork (plus a form you must fill out on the website) which allows you to conveniently bypass in-person paperwork. Agora, almost on cue, started to die once the appointment was made. I didn't even think she would make it to the appointment. I called Diane crying to tell her she might pass in the mean time but if she makes it; it looks like this will have to be an euthanasia situation. Diane was super apologetic again and made me feel loved and supported. I arrived to Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital located on Foothill near the major intersection of Pennsylvania. Thankfully, they have a sizeable, free lot behind the building.The great thing about this vet is they allow pet owners inside (many still aren't because of Covid) and after a temp check, I waited to see the doctor in a clean, modern, airy lobby. Diane was instantly super soft with me, helping me in any way she could even if just to carry my purse. I was led back to have Agora's vitals taken by a vet tech before I would see Dr. Youn. I wasn't 100% impressed with the vet techs as they seemed more focus on their jobs rather than having bedside manner but I suppose Diane is the one to remedy that gap. The examination room is also not the nicest: a bit outdated and uncomfortable and certainly not as 'pretty' as the lobby. I finally met Dr.Youn and after speaking about Agora's medical history and her current state; he dropped the bomb that there isn't anything we do. Nothing can prepare you for this moment with your companion but I listened to Dr. Youn explain the euthanasia process and that they work with Cal Pets Crematory who will call me separately for their own payment and to send back the ashes (Cal Pet effed up seriously but you can read all about that in my next review). Diane came back to take my payment for the visit in the room while I spent my last moments with Agora. For the record: Dr. Youn is very straight forward and sort of unemotional but I can tell he is a great doctor, medically. One of the bonus points is that they never rushed the process and only began to administer the fluids when I was ready. Once I was as ready as I could be; Dr. Youn helped Agora pass to heaven. I was hysterical walking through the lobby and Diane offered to let me sit while the entire staff offered condolences; but I just wanted to go home. A week later, I received a sympathy card in the mail which is standard fare for vets in these situations but what stuck out was that the entire staff wrote PERSONALIZED messages and not just their names! I was crying instantly and felt so supported. This little gesture made me want to shout their praise from the roof tops. Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital is the vet to see, folks. I have been coming to Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital for a few years now, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Dr. Youn and his entire staff are some of the most caring, wonderful vet professionals I have ever worked with, and I recommend them to all of my clients. I own a pet grooming salon and have worked in the dog care field for close to 20 years now and they are not only knowledgeable and compassionate but you can clearly tell everyone here is in it for their love of animals. I've been to many other clinics where there was a lot of upselling, and it seemed they were only in it for the money, but this is not the case at CVV. After being blown off by a few previous vets, I made my way to CVV by the referral  of a good friend of mine, and I'm so glad I went. Dr. Youn is always willing to listen to my concerns, as well as brainstorm possible routes of treatment with me, rather than just telling me what to do. He is always clear and offers me all of the options so I am able to make informed decisions regarding the care of my senior pups. He has guided me through several life-threatening issues with my senior dogs, as well as provided the most compassionate care for my girl Slinky who developed aggressive lymphoma and passed away from it. He never pressured me to choose different treatment options and was supportive and extremely kind until her very last. I had to take my dog here for skin issues. First of all, when I arrived here the reception staff was super friendly and efficient. The office was really clean too! I didn't have to wait long before I was called into the exam room. The doctor and staff were incredibly patient and gentle with my nervous pup. Aside from getting fixed, this was her first vet visit and everyone was so kind with her. They let me know that the issue was most likely due to her harness and not anything more serious so they sent me home with some topical cream and didn't try to sell me on anything else. It was a super inexpensive visit, too which I definitely appreciated. There was another dog in the waiting room when I was getting ready to pay the invoice. My dog is SUPER dog reactive and I could tell she was getting riled up when she saw the other dog. Thankfully, their office is set up for this. I was able to hide behind a wall with her while the receptionist patiently billed me. To add onto it, another dog was waiting to come in and I was a little worried that I'd have to bring my dog through that door and deal with some stress from my dog. Thankfully there was another exit off to the side so I was able to get my dog in and out of there without any issue. As a dog owner who has to worry about that every time we see another dog, I really appreciated that they took all of those things into consideration. I took my dog here when he was a young puppy and I was very displeased with the service. There is one receptionist in particular who was incredibly rude. I actually have a cardiac condition and this front desk lady triggered my cardiac arrhythmia by screaming at me when I called on the phone at noon on Wed Aug 4, 21. It was so startling. I've been a rescuer for 23 years and dealt with hundreds of vets. I have never before spoken to a more horrific front desk person in my life, and I've spoken to literally hundreds of vets. That woman should not have a job. She has no excuse for answering the phone in the manner she did and using utter cruelty. She asked "is this an emergency or can you please hold" yet she would not give me 2 seconds to answer that question. She just screamed it at me over and over again without letting me answer. If it had been an emergency my pet would probably be dead. She has no business answering the phone in that manner and screaming at you and not letting you answer that question. Even if she was having an emergency if she can't handle it she should not answer the phone. It's been an hour and I had to take extra blood pressure medication to try to calm the cardiac event she set off in me. read more

I am so happy we found Dr. Yun. My pug Maggie was suffering from a horrible skin infection and was losing her hair and scratching her face. She had been wearing a cone for a few weeks. I called a few vets and no one could get us in. I called Dr. Yun's office and they scheduled me an appointment the same day at no additional emergency cost. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by Tiffany. She is the sweetest person I have ever met working at any veterinary clinic. She has two pugs of her own so she knew my concern. We were taken back right away. Wow, no wait after filling out forms! Amazing. She put us in a room and took Maggie's temperature. She offered us water while we waited for the doctor which was maybe 2 minutes. Dr. Yun explained well what needed to be done. He tested her for mites and thankfully it was negative. He prescribed a special shampoo, face wipes, antibiotics and ointment for her. The total cost was a lot less than other vets that we have been to. Even the ones who claim they are a low cost clinic and we had to wait up to 5 hours at times. One week later we came back for a post op visit. Maggie is almost all cleared up and with no cone. Tiffany and Dr. Yun were both happy to see her doing better and that was very comforting. Thank you so much for the amazing service. I will bring my older pug soon. read more

If you have that recording, then I would love to hear it. That's the experience I am talking about...the one that counts the most because it was my initial meeting in the exam room. So, do I think his responses and presentation of options AFTER he has consulted with colleagues and rehearsed what to say in a more cogent manner made more sense? Absolutely. Sadly this is not the experience you are responding to. Show me the recordings of the actual experience I had IN-PERSON, and I will redact my statement. If anyone reads this, this is my experience with this doctor. Does he need to improve his communication skills? Yes. Do you have other options with this facility? I sure hope so. Again, if you want me to take down my review, show me the footage of my actual in-person experience, and NOT the phone call the following day...the doctor told me he would confer with colleagues and call me back, which is exactly what he did. Maybe this is what he should have done first. Cresenta Valley was recomended to consult with to remove s our dog's back leg because of a cancerous tumor. Dr. Youn was great. He went over the pros and cons and was very clear about what to expect. SO happy I found these people! I'd steadily become dissatisfied with my former vet~ mostly because their Covid restrictions were ultra-rigid, and you couldn't enter their lobby with your pet. "Curb service" was mandated, which made my dog feel anxious, and me annoyed. Yelp came to the rescue, and after reading great reviews for Crescenta Valley Vet Hospital, we decided it was worth checking out. I'm happy to say, the entire experience was delightful! Easy, ample parking, clean, beautifully decorated office and friendly, efficient staff were among the high points for Cleo and me. It's a quick freeway drive from my home in Altadena, and easy to find. I found their fees to be reasonable, which means a lot when you're a senior citizen. I'm thinking I may have found a great new place to take my 3 cats if need be, too! WHEW! One less stressor to deal with in 2021, and you can color me extremely grateful! read more

Spirit has been cared for by CVVHospital her whole life. Now that she's older, she has multiple needs. Dr. Joun is very empathic and treated her as if she were his own. I was also impressed that the front office staff is quite knowledgeable and helpful. At times I've taken her to the hospital multiple times in a week. Even tho I was concerned that I was an overprotective pet partner to Spirit, we were always treated with patience and respect. These guys are fantastic. We've been taking our two cats (a maine coon mix and a domestic short hair) there for a little over a year and we haven't had a bad experience. Our boys always seem comfortable. Their new visit protocols during COVID prove even further how fantastic their staff are. You pull up to the curb and give them a call to confirm you've arrived. They come out to pick up the pet and carry on accordingly. For a vet visit, the vet calls with diagnoses and recommendations. For vaccines, it's a quick back and forth. Even with these COVID protocols, my boys have never been returned stressed out. In fact, they're calmer when returned than when I handed them over. I have horrible experience with Doctor. My pet is 11 years old she's getting treatment for collapsed trachea with this hospital. 2 weeks ago she got seizures so we took her to doctor and he gave her medicine he prescribed Keppra the first they said it's $ 482 then I asked them to give me 3 days dose so I'll check online if there is possibility to buy less money. Immediately they said " we did mistake it's $34". I don't say anything I got medicine went home. After first dose my dog started coughing so bad she hasn't sleep and my family didn't sleep all night seeing her suffering like that. Next day I went back to the doctor and showed him video how much my dog is coughing asked him is Keppra gave her side effects? He was smiling and said yes because she has collapsed trachea she should not take this medication and change to K Bro vet oral solution. If I continue Keppra what going to happen my poor elderly dog? Doctor must know when he's prescribing medicine. Office staff were so rude. All they wanted is money. I have to take my dog to different hospital. Now she's getting better. Never take your pet to this clinic. I used to have a very good experience with this Vet. They recently had some staff changes. I had to say goodbye to one of our kitties recently and it was a horrifying experience. I heard my boy crying and howling though the office doors. He suffered greatly at the end. This could and should not happen. I spoke with them several days after. The justified his treatment and told me he was difficult to restrain. My 20 year old 7 lb cat really???? Jerks!!! We switched from the one up the street because they were given a recommendation by a family member. First visit was ok, therefore you get the one star. When our dog had a spine problem, he was treated as a car salesman - the doctor assess our dog without us watching, then she sent her bill collector with an iPad and an attitude and no sympathy. I went there a month later to get a specific medication, they asked me to go to my old vet, which my dog wasn't diagnosed, to ask them for the prescription. Who does that!! The vet's I've worked with have been great and kind people. My dog has been well taken care of every time I bring her and the staff for the most part are professional and kind. Pricing is reasonable when compared to other rates in the area. The only reason I would not give them 5 stars is because there is 1 staff member in particular that whenever I call she seems to always have an attitude, she's hardly helpful and rude, does not seem to enjoy her job. I adopted my cat 2 months ago and I was shocked at how long the waits are to get a vet appointment in LA - everywhere else I called told me they weren't accepting new patients or I couldn't be seen till September. When I called Crescenta, they were able to offer me an appointment within the week and emailed me the paperwork ahead of time to secure my appointment slot. I was also able to provide my cat's medical history via email, which was super convenient. Arrived this morning about 20 minutes early, there are parking spaces dedicated to this vet in the back (giant bonus) and we were able to check-in immediately, thanks to the paperwork done ahead of time, and were called in to see the vet within minutes. Dr. Youn was very friendly and I could immediately tell how well he gets along with animals, he was very kind and gentle with my cat and listened to all my concerns about her health as a first-time pet owner. I felt very comfortable the whole time and like my worries were taken seriously. They were also able to recommend a treatment for hairballs that I paid for together with the appointment and walked out with. Great experience and will definitely be using them as our standard vet for years to come. read more

I used to bring my cat and two dogs here but moved over to Montrose Pet Hospital, which is still very close for La Crescenta residents. The staff and customer service here is not great as they don't seem to care about the well being of your pets; it didn't help with the fact that the front staff were always irritable and rude. The Asian lady that works at the front desk talks to you in a demeaning way. Dr. Youn is an okay vet as he does the bare mininum and tries to get you out quick. Also, their services are way overpriced for the poor services you'll get here.... Expect to wait for long periods of time as their check in and check out system is dysfunctional. There weren't that many customers there and you would still have to wait like 30 minutes to get helped out and you would have to advocate for yourself or you simply will not get helped. I'm glad I made the move over to Montrose Pet Hospital as their staff and veterinarians are 100% more helpful, attentive, and caring. read more

I originally starting going to CVVH in 1998 when one of my dogs was having kidney failure and I thought I'd found the best Vet Hospital EVER. Dr. Black and Nancy were absolutely the best! Fast-Forward to March 2021 when I took my dog up for what I thought was an routing urinary tract infection. The vet did routine urine tests and while waiting for results, put her on antibiotics. When the tests came back, the Dr told me "She's just old and senile ~ there's nothing wrong with her"...In spite of her continually standing outside trying to go pee for what seemed like minutes on end! This went on for several days without getting any better. I took my dog to another Pet Clinic and additional urine tests and cultures were performed. The tests came back with Hyaline Crystals in her kidneys, typically caused from high levels of proteins in the kidneys. This condition is quite uncomfortable and can be dangerous if not treated promptly/properly. Her diet was promptly changed and after a couple months, she fully recovered and is happy and healthy, for the record! Go here with MUCH CAUTION and also a lot of money in your checking account, as they are VERY EXPENSIVE!!! If I could give ZERO Stars I would have, I'm sorry to say. read more
