I started coming here when my friends band started playing in the space frequently. It's so fun and has a great atmosphere for the live music! A nice addition to the Old Market bar scene. Go here for a good pint and some live music. The music aspect is especially fitting, because the Harney Street Tavern is located in the same underground spot as the old Antiquarium record shop. I didn't quite realize this at first, because the space has been completely gutted, but once I did I had a fit a nostalgia that I'm still kinda feeling. Anyway, another bonus is that there's no cover for the music and you can expect to hear a variety of genres, from funk to blues to jazz to singer-songwriters. I foresee Harney Street only getting better as its bright new sheen wears off and the space gets worn in. read more

This is a top neighborhood hangout for me. They have a stellar craft beer selection if you want a pint. However, I suggest that you ask Brady to create a cocktail for you. He takes the time to create a perfect cocktail with quality spirits; even if it is busy. You can always meet new or old friends here. There is live music many nights (check the chalkboard). It is a clean comfortable downstairs space which makes it a favorite place for the Old Market locals. read more

Nice little basement bar where the legendary Antiquariam used to be. They have local songwriters here quite often which is why I ended up at the Harney Street. While it is has a very nice bar and wood features throughout it certainly feels like a basement and there is not a lot on the walls. I like that personally as I think bar walls should fill up organically over the years rather than just stick up a bunch of hokey stuff to fill them. The sound in venue is pretty good for the songwriters-but it's not a room that will sound great without some work and there is no reason to put in that work unless you are primarily a music venue. Bartender was friendly and prompt, drink was a $1 more than in Benson bars but to be expected in Old Market and it was a fine drink that didn't skimp on the liquor. I look forward to watching more performers here. read more

Best bar in Omaha. They regularly have incredible entertainment. They support local artist and always ensure quality entertainment. The alcohol selection is top shelf through and through. The service is outstanding. They clearly pride themselves in customer service and keeping a clean Establishment. I've been to Harney Street twice to see live music and its become one of my favorite Old Market bars. They have a small but solid selection of beer, great cocktails, and some pretty good acts. Not to mention the fact that the place feels a bit like an old school speak easy. I'ts below street level and from behind the stage, you can see people walk-by on the sidewalk. It's exactly what downtown Omaha was missing. My only gripe are the televisions. I get it when there's not a performer but when someone is playing on stage, turn the tv's off. read more

If I could give a half star here I would. My friends and I went to this bar expecting to have a good time until the self proclaimed "owner" called my friend out for not being man enough to take a shot of tequila without salt. It was really not a big deal until the bartender took the shot that was meant for my friend. As soon as I tipped our bartender $0 the guy got in our face, thinking he deserved a tip, and followed us to the sidewalk belittling everyone in our group. The group continued to taunt everyone saying that we needed to go to a more "prestigious" bar when all we wanted to do was have a good time. Needless to say, it sucked. If you're looking for a hipster spot downtown, this is your place. It's got a benson vibe, plenty of craft beers, and great live music. Love the look and vibe of this place--and very clean (more than can be said for most Old Market bars). Ok, I hate the old market, but I actually really like this place! Its not your typical douchey affliction guy dance club or loud annoying sports bar, Its just a normal bar. Both times I've been, its been on the way to a show at the slowdown or another bar downtown for a birthday party or whathaveyou, and both times i was greeted by a friendly and attentive bartender, and both times there were some old men that were nice and well-dressed (must be regulars) I will definitely be back next time i have to come down that way! This bar has a very homey feel to it. It is very clean for a downtown bar. They have a drink menu with a few craft cocktails, and some great craft beer selections in bottles. The staff is really friendly and even on the weekends you can get a drink fairly quickly. If you haven't already checked it out, I would recommend it. Dogs are welcome too! read more

After travelling many miles on Intersate 80, my brother and I had the fortunate surpise to happen into Harney's Tavern in Omaha. What a nice joint. Solid beers on tap.
