I went in to have jewelery worked on. I was very specific that I needed pearls added to a necklace. Strung on string with a gold chain as they had been done by other jewelers. The woman had me speak to the jeweler. He was rude to her and to me yet agreed to do it and wrote it down on the receipt. The pearls when I picked them up were simply strung onto the gold chain. I was furious and disappointed, but polite. The woman there remembered me and knew he did it incorrectly. They still charged me full price and told me they'd fix it. But I would have to pay, again. He felt he did nothing wrong. Acted as if we'd never met. The pearl necklaces were gifts from my MIL and her funeral was that week. I didn't have time to wait weeks, again. Do not trust this jeweler. He will attempt to gaslight his employee & customer into thinking we got it wrong! Even when the directions are clearly written on the receipt. My husband went in once to have a necklace made for me. One pearl on a gold chain. An add a pearl necklace was the intent to follow along with a family tradition we have. The necklaces were begun at another, reputable jeweler that is 13 hours away. Husband was told it was a real pearl necklace by Hollands & they could add pearls later. Eventually the pearl broke in half, clasp broke as well. I brought it to Hingham Jewelers where my MIL began the add a pearl tradition. I was told this was not the appropriate kind of pearl, that's why it broke, and the chain had to be scrapped. I was online to search if Holland's what time they were open today and just so happened to see their rating and audibly asked "what the heck?". I have been going to Holland's for a number of reasons for many years and I am honestly super surprised that a reviewer would call Stacey unethical. I have had nothing but great experiences with Stacey and his staff-we are talking watch batteries, ring sizing, Christmas purchases, my son shopped for an engagement ring, etc. Each and every time we are treated like a neighbor. This is not a corporate jewelry shop, this is Stacey and his family taking care of the folks in town. Yes, conversations can go on and that is one of the best parts. After searching ever major jewelry store with no luck I finally found the perfect ring at Hollands! Kelly was super patient as I tried on just about every ring they had. Stacey was also super patient, took the time to explain and educate us on our purchase, and didn't up-sell us on unnecessary warranties. We had to order the ring in a different setting which only took about a day! He even resized it in about 30 minutes. I was so nervous because the only jeweler I trusted was back in Los Angeles, but now that we've moved out here, I need to find a new one. ~14 people recommended Holland's to me...wow! This place has great word of mouth! Stacey was very professional and friendly, and fixed and cleaned my ring in 30 mins for a very very very small fee. However, when I went home that night, I realized there was still a loose stone in my ring. So I had to wait until Tuesday (they're closed Sun and Mon) to bring it back. He fixed it again for me (this time for free,) and took time to explain how my ring was built, and what may have happened to cause the loose stones. I have visited Holland's Jewelers several times. Yesterday I had the BEST experience so far. I went to pick up a ring they made for me. It is gorgeous! (And the price was very reasonable.) There was some miscommunication about the size, and it was too big. There was no problem with having it resized. I offered to come back the next day, but the jeweler said he could do it in about 20 min. I said I'd grab a coffee (just down the street) and be back. The very nice woman said "we have coffee" and fixed me right up! In just a few minutes my ring was ready. Quality work and excellent customer service. read more

It's unfortunate that I'm having to update my review so drastically, but I had a not so great experience that I want to warn other yelpers about. In summary, I paid $11 and three visits to this establishment to have my watch broken. I went in recently to get the battery replaced on my four year old fossil watch. After fifteen minutes of waiting, they told me they were able to replace the battery but unable to get the back of the watch on and I would have to leave it there until their "watch guy" came later in the afternoon. Not ideal but I agreed. They close at 2pm on Saturdays so at 130 when I had not heard anything thing I gave them a call. They were then not so sure the watch guy would come and if he didn't show up today, I could come get my watch on Tuesday (the next time they would be open and said watch guy would be in). I expressed my discomfort of this option and My lack of desire to go without my watch for that long. They said they would call me back to keep me posted. They attempted to get the back of the watch back on and this time were successful so I rushed over in the final 15 of their business hours on Saturday. Awesome! Fast forward a few days and I notice that in their multiple attempts to get my watch back back on, they knocked out one of the needles in my watch face that moves to indicate the day of the week. I return back on the following Saturday and while they apologized and were able to remove the rouge needle in my watch face, but they did not fix it/reattach it nor do they offer a refund for breaking my watch, but they also cannot get the back of my watch on. I am still looking for somewhere else to get the back of my watch reattached as I cannot trust them anymore. I would suggest not taking fossil watches here to get the watch battery replaced. I would also suggest if they have trouble putting your watch back together to forget it and take it elsewhere before more damage is done. I will not return because they were unable to make this right. read more

Awesome! The owner's son greeted me upon entry with a smile on his face. I needed a ring sized and I've never been into Holland's before. He said that normally he's pretty quick, but he had rotator cuff surgery last week and hasn't fully recovered and gave me a week turn around time. Sales people and the owner are very friendly and helpful. I was upset when I heard that a stolen ring of mine had been pawned to the owner and he was going to melt it down. The police got to the owner the day before it was to be melted and returned it to me. Stacey is not the most ethical person. He had to have known the ring was stolen. Previously, I had been reasonably satisfied with purchases but follow up appraisals were never sent to us. My engagement ring and wedding band were both in desperate need of some attention, so I turned to Yelp and asked around for a good, trustworthy jeweler in the area. Holland's came highly recommended, but I was not able to overlook a few things that totally rubbed me the wrong way. First, I believe that I was highly overcharged for the work done on both of my rings. When I had first inquired about how much it would cost to tighten the center stone on my engagement ring, I was first quoted $15 when the salesperson checked their binder and then it became $25 after she showed the jeweler my ring. I then asked about replacing a small diamond that I had lost on my wedding band, and they first said it was $30 to replace the stone. This was not the first time I've had a stone replaced on the ring, so I thought the price seemed fair, but then when the sales lady asked the jeweler again, he says to her in the most condescending way as if he were speaking to a 5 year old, "How much does the stone cost?". She answered, "$30" and then he goes, "how much is it to tighten stones?", then the sales lady came back to me and told me it was $25 on top of that since I had other loose stones on the band. Umm ok... being this is not my first rodeo, I know how much it SHOULD cost. Fine, I was in a huge rush to get this done, so by all means, I'll pay the inflated price. However, the part that REALLYYYYY bothered me most was the way the jeweler guy spoke to the sales lady in front of everyone on the sales floor. I don't care if she's your mother, your aunt, or your sister, that is NO WAY to speak to someone and on top of that, he did this out in the open in front of customers. Maybe he didn't think I understood English or thought I was not within earshot, but never have I ever experienced such rude behavior in such a supposedly "classy" establishment. Being from the Big Apple, where assholes a plenty, you'd think I'd be used to this type of despicable behavior, but I still left this place feeling disgusted. On top of that, I was told that the jeweler guy was busy and that it would take up to 40 minutes to tighten my center stone (I've seen this done before and it's literally takes under a minute to tighten a stone). It was about 1:50pm in the afternoon. I said I had to be on my way at about 2:30pm so that would work out perfectly if I just waited and shopped around in the store. Maybe he didn't expect me to be waiting around to see how "busy" he was, doing... pretty much jackshit... but when another customer came in, he had a 30 minute conversation with him about basketball. W.T.F.!?!? I just stood there waiting and "shopped around". He was fully aware that I had to go at 2:30pm, but decided to be a jerk anyway and made me wait until the very last minute. Finally when 2:30pm rolls around, he goes to the back, spends a few minutes on my ring and then comes back out with it... and said that my wedding band would take longer. I was fine with that because at this point I was already late and just had to go. When I asked the same sales lady approximately when it would be ready, she hesitantly turned around to ask the guy and then changed her mind immediately. She turned back around to me and said she would call me when it was ready. I got a call 5 days later! 5 DAYS!!! Never again. STAY FAR AWAY from this place! read more

Best jewelry experience I have ever had. Stacey and his wife are the absolute best. I needed to have my girlfriend's great grandmother's 1919 diamond reset in white gold and this was the most affordable and quickest place. Their quote was more than HALF the price of other stores and chains. I was also told it would take 3-4 weeks at other stores and Hollands did the ring WITH IN 24 hours, and even threw in a VERY nice box for the ring so I could propose properly. I went to Hollands on a recommendation because I lost a diamond from my channel anniversary band. The staff at Hollands was incredible. I was amazed buy how quickly and well my band was repaired. Not only did they find a great looking replacement diamond, that fit perfectly... but the cost was well below what I expected. If I could leave no stars I would. I took my sons watch there because the crystal fell out. After it was repaired the watch didn't keep time. I would attempt to wind the stem but it would not move the hands. So I took the watch back. When I demonstrated the problem to the sales clerk the stem came off in my hand. They fixed it and said the stem was not inserted correctly. Now, the watch does not keep time at all and it useless. Funny thing is that it worked fine before I took it to them. read more

My husband and I went to Holland's Jewelers on 12/8/11. We drove 30 miles only to be told that Stacy Had lost our quote and now the price is higher. The quote was fifty dollars higher. ?? I said not so. The staff includes one man and two women. One woman is EXTREMELY loud and disconnected. The other woman seemed very quiet and at a disadvantage. Neither woman knew what to do without stopping and asking Stacy what to do: who was very Rude. Trust me go elsewhere. We went there to purchase a Lorenzo ring that is sold at better places. The owner seemed unconcerned and very unapologetic and hung up on me when I called one of his staff members very weird.
