The repair work is stellar. Gold is smooth and repairs invisible. Both engagement and wedding rings exquisitely polished - they look as good as the day they were purchased. The worst jeweler I have ever been to. The customer service was awful. One of the workers told us the owner would come give us a quote, but after waiting in the store for over 20 minutes, no one ever showed up. During that time, the staff stood around on their phones and didn't even acknowledge us. We were completely ignored. So pleased with Wake Forest jewelers! Not only are they extremely friendly but very professional as well. After losing almost 80 lbs. my wedding set didn't fit anymore - took my rings over to get sized down, from 7.25 to 6. They were very friendly and up front about the charge, as well as took the time to explain there might be additional charges due to small diamonds along both sides of wedding band. Rings were ready the following morning and look literally brand new! And they fit beautifully. $100 to resize both, including redoing the rhodium coating on my rings which are 14K white gold. This was absolutely the WORST customer service I have ever experienced, and I have been in the retail business for over 35 years. Tina, explained that she was doing the job of 10 people, and therefore it was to be expected that she would be curt and rude. I have very small granddaughters, and I had spent over 1 k one month prior."' My intention was to purchase matching necklaces with a different stone. Tina had it in her head that I was going to "order " something and handed me off to a sales person who was on the phone. Waiting while she scolded the staff in front of me and tried to find boxes about which I could have cared less, I explained that I wanted to purchase a necklace, but I was in a bit of a hurry. Tina walked away and I was left just as I was trying to buy something. She handed me off to Selma, who was on the phone. I walked out without purchasing what I had driven three hours to get. When I called to explain that I had walked out, she didn't listen to a thing I was saying. She made a huge assumption that I was going to order something, and she would not hear any different. Both she and Selma hung up on me. I requested that my husband go in and get the necklace for my second granddaughter, as my grans like to have matching apparel and accessories. However, after today, my family nor I will ever purchase anything from Wake Forest Jewelers again or recommend them. it was truly the worst display of public relations that I have ever witnessed. It is unfortunate that the owners were not present. I would have been very embarrassed to witness this display. Tina is the wrong person for that position. After 10-12 years of not fitting in my wedding ring, I finally took it to wake forest jewelers and got it resized. Wish I had done it 12 years ago. I also left them with several other rings and bracelets that needed repair (broken and/or misshaped). They did it all in less than a week - even one ring day-of (as in, I dropped it off at 2 and it was done by 4)! Very affordable too. These were in both silver and gold, and all very old. My dad just passed me down a watch but the battery was dead so I went here to replace it. Replacing a watch battery takes about 2 minutes with the right tools but they still asked me to leave it with them so I said why not. Didn't receive a call until the next day which makes no sense considering the job should've taken 2 minutes, so I go to the store after I finish work and they closed up 3 hours early with no warning. I met Derrick a year or so ago regarding a watch. I changed my mind so often, not knowing what I wanted but Derrick was patient. He gave me his cell number, which he answered promptly if I had any questions. Some where along the line he quit responding. No matter what I texted, no response. Even tried selling a watch but no response. I eventually bought an Omega from him but he never responds. Last time I was in the store he was busy buying some watches. He looked up to see that I had come in but there was no acknowledgement. I stood at the case for five minutes with no response so I left. I texted him again but to no avail. I'm not sure if I just wasted too much of his time or what, even though I bought a nice watch there. I think Derrick is a nice guy as long as you are on his good side. I would rate Wake Forest Jewelers on South Main Street, NC a ZERO if I could, because they do not even deserve a One star which is the lowest rating. Here is my experience with them. I was looking to sell three diamond rings (one wedding ring with diamonds half way around, an engagement ring with a sapphire in the middle with small diamonds on both sides of the ring and another ring with diamonds half way around...made a beautiful and classy set which were purchased in the diamond district in New York City). At time when I went to Wake Forest Jewelers, I was in a bad place in my life, and Wake Forest Jewelers purchased only diamond rings at a small fraction of what they are actually worth but not the sapphire since according to them the sapphire was not a good stone, because it was very damaged and wasn't worth anything and they would chuck it because they do not sell nothing but quality jewelries. Therefore, I sold them the other rings, and I left the one with the sapphire since they said the sapphire was not worth anything and they would not be able to sell it because of the damages in the stone and they would do away with it. I decided to go back and get the sapphire, but to my surprise they had the wedding ring and the engagement ring with the same sapphire stone that they said was so damaged and not sell-able in their show case to sell to some innocent person who thinks that they are receiving a quality sapphire stone. I was so shocked that they would literally have my rings with the damaged sapphire on display in their show case to sell the same sapphire for top dollars that they told me was no good. That is so wrong, because some innocent customer is going there to pay top dollars for a sapphire stone that Wake Forest Jewelry said was not a good stone and they would never sell something like that to their customers. They refused to give me back the sapphire and lied that they paid me for it with the other rings. The disappointing thing in all of this is people not knowing what they are getting and will be charged a lot of money at the expense of another customer. I called ahead of time and was told $50 for an appraisal on my wedding ring set. I go in today and ask for the appraisal. The woman at the counter looks at my ring and says "Well do you have any paperwork to go with it?" I said of course I do, it's my wedding ring. So I hand her everything and the ring. Since my wedding band is not soldered to my engagement band she says I pay for them separately. I explained I was told $50. She didn't seem to care at all so I left. Very poor customer service. Today I called Wake Forest Jewelers about buying a wedding band. After I described the exact ring I wanted, they said they would have to order it, which was fine with me. However, when I inquired about the weight (grams) of the ring, the woman I spoke to quickly became extremely hostile and nasty. I was truly surprised that any retailer would talk to a customer with such blatant rudeness. Although I have shopped there previously, I will never have any further dealings with this awful business. We all want to find that "Home Town," Jewelry Store that we can trust and at the same time feel like family. Well...Wake Forest Jewelry has done that for my wife and I and then some. We were quite nervous at first when I left my wife's diamond with Derrick as I did not know him that well. I had gone in a couple of times for repairs and had told my wife this could be that family jewelry store that we would like to do all our jewelry business with. I had a very memorable occasion come up (20th. Anniversary) and wanted to do something very special for my wife. She had seen a wedding band setting while we were in Annapolis a year ago and I just couldn't find the time to go back for the ring. I explained to Derrick, as well as I could, about the setting and he took it from there. I had a CAD of the ring in a couple of weeks and we agreed upon a price which I must say was very fair as I knew what I would have spent and the high priced jeweler in Annapolis. Now the tricky part...I was taking my wife out for our Anniversary(which is on 12/31) to have dinner and spend the night for New Years Eve at the Washington Duke Inn. I wanted to give my wife the setting that Derrick made for me but I needed my wife's diamond. Again, Derrick to the rescue as he gave me a Cubic to put in the setting until my wife and I could come back in to set her diamond. Self and family will never go there again. Had a ring re-sized which went ok (but would not leave it there now), then a clerk said my watch was broken and he wanted to send it to the company for repair. After keeping it for months and not calling, I finally called and he said it was there; it just needed a battery, lol. THEN took a Skagen watch in for batter (another watch) and the owner broke it. She said, "well, it's costume jewelry and it breaks). Maybe true, but still, it was a $145.00 watch. Not only that, but it had a 20mm face (small) which is hard to find, and I do not like the comparable ones as well. The point, however, is that the woman was so rude, instead of just apologizing she blamed my "costume jewelry" $145 watch for her breaking it. She said she'd try to repair it, but her manner was so imperious that, even though I initially left it there, I turned around, went back and got it. I don't want anything from them. She was just wrong-headed about how she dealt with breaking my watch, and just didn't "get it," the point wasn't the MONEY or the price, lol, it was that you're supposed to say, "sorry I broke your belonging." It was mine, I liked it. As far as disparaging my stuff goes, I wouldn't ever wear the jewelry the women had on (it was gaudy, big, loud, not to my taste). The Skagen watch, while "costume jewelry" (and not clunky and gold like the owner favored, lol) is an excellent little watch, in my opinion, very comfortable, 19-20mm faces (on some of them), trademark mesh band in silver stainless. Two Danish guys, I think, started marketing in the u.s. in the 80s. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm gad I turned around and just got my watch, so I wouldn't have to go back. Other customers were there so I did not say anything. THEN the lady went to the back, took it out of the envelope, and dumped it into my hand...didn't even leave me the envelope to carry it in, lol. All I'd said was that I'd changed my mind about leaving it, nothing else. As I left I heard her behind me going on with customers about how she was going to fix it, blah blah. Self-justfiying and not sincere. They used to have a clerk who was better (the one who helped me in re-sizing a ring...(it was an emerald ring, actually ---I don't like diamonds, I kid you not. Anyway, no doubt it was "cheap" and not big enough or in a loud enough setting, lol). Bottom line, I had a yucky feeling for about 5 hours. Then we all went out to dinner and I felt better. Oh...forgot to add, the Skagen watch was a gift, also, and had sentimental value. God only knows how expensive something should be before the owner feels she should take care of it. (And as they always say, when someone doesn't feel they should treat "lesser" belongings well, they probably won't treat your good stuff well, very either...that's always been the common wisdom) ...Finally, the most comparable Skagan I can find is a 19mm face, mesh band but without some of the features I previously had, with shipping it's $132.00 So, that's what I'll order, probably. Monetarily, that was the price of dealing with the owner. On another level, I don't know that you can put a price on icky feeling. read more
