Hollow Spirits Heights! Got to check out the soft opening of Hollow Spirits in The Heights last night and it did not disappoint. We tried a few of their cocktails, including the Lavender Moon and a refreshing Moscow Mule. Both were seriously good. One of the coolest moments of the night was when the owners hopped up on the bar and shared their vision for the space. When Hollow Spirits officially opens in the coming months, it will be a full-service cocktail and food restaurant, and if the drinks are any preview of what's coming... it's going to be a great addition to The Heights. As a Yelp elite, I always check out events when I travel. I happened to stumble across this event. Great little place! Service was great from Esperanza behind the bar. Yelp drink was a raspberry margarita and it was delicious! I also ordered one of their cocktails. Per menu it was made with gin, but I asked for it to be made with vodka instead. It was so good. Always a favorite, especially for patio season because you can't beat the views and the drinks. Recently visited in celebration of a friend's birthday and we had the best time enjoying the upstairs patio. They had an event going on with a limited menu but all the favorites were available, specifically the lavender moon is one my friends all seem to enjoy. My wife and I were passing by on our trip and came here to try some mixed drinks. Their service was great and the bartender was super friendly. They have a gated lot to park behind (I assume due to the homeless population nearby). It was nice getting inside away from the heat. I had a couple sweet drinks. The bartender was great. Came here as part of a yelp event. But I did purchase a Mocktail and creme brûlée. The server lady was very friendly and nice. I enjoyed the fun Mocktail, as well as the crème brûlée, it was an interesting orange flavor, interesting a great way, so yummy! Love the patio! The only concern I have was with the lack of water. I felt disgusting not being able to wash my hands or flush the toilet after using the bathroom because the establishment ran out of water (temporarily is what I heard), I was concerned since that sounds like a health hazard. read more

We really enjoyed our visit! We sat out on the patio, and the fabulous food weather and chill atmosphere made for a great environment. Our waiter came right out and guided us through drinks and dinner. He asked if we wanted a paper menu or wanted to use the QR code, which was gracious of him. Most places give you the QR code and that's it. We ended up ordering the Burqueno Burro (a mule with blackberries and basil) and an old fashioned. They were unusual and delicious. Second round was Kiss, Berry Kill (a fruity cherry drink with vodka) and a Manhattan. Two more thumbs up! Food was great, too. They don't have a ton of options (5-7 apps and an equal amount of entrees) but what they have is delicious. Our curiosity got the better of us and we ordered the fried mozzarella log. Holy cow. This thing is HUGE. We maybe ate a quarter of it. It's served on top of a pasta sauce which made the dish. We wisely made the decision to split the vodka pasta with Italian sausage which was also delicious. The bread was great, too! The level of food is a step up or two from your average bar/brewery. The only critique I have is everything was a hair salty. But overall, I'd order the same thing again with no complaints. We tried to order bananas foster for dessert but they were out. Boo! Things have changed since my last visit. Two separate businesses exist under the same complex. Sit and a server will provide a menu for liquor. Order and that is one transaction. Food? Well use a QR code to view and order. Or use a kiosk at the pick up window to place an order. That will be transaction number two. Drink service is friendly and efficient. Food service was very impersonal. The kitchen cook had no personality. I would actually give four stars to the drink portion of the business. The two stars really represents the food portion of the business as well as the fact that they have a very small menu. And on the day that we visited they were out of so many items that it was hard to even consider eating there. In fact four out of the seven people that were there decided to leave and go to a different venue to eat and drink. read more

Have not been in over a year and so glad I came back! Much larger patio was built last year with good music playing. Ordered the hamburger for $20 and it is thick with a rosemary bun and seasoned fries... yes please! The pork chop has a spicy Thai chili flavor with roasted peanuts and potatoes. We went to a Yelp event here about 3 weeks ago. All four of us really liked this distillery! Their distillery drinks were yummy and they have good selections for beer and wine if you're not a hard liquor fan. We tried 3 appetizers and thought the Brussels sprouts were amazing, the nachos were good and the wings are not traditional so be aware if you order them. The service was excellent and we all liked the ambience. We will go back. read more

I really enjoy this place and the events they throw. They have ample parking. Prices are fair and the drinks are good. We haven't ordered food here. I have heard mixed reviews about the food, but I haven't tried it out for myself. Hollow Spirits has a large projector where they'll display movies or sports games. Recently they hosted a murder mystery, but I did not participate. Service is not consistent. We've been here a few times and I do think your night will be determined with who your server is. If I could give 0 stars I would. We have been here 2 hours and still have not received our food we ordered. I asked for the owner and was given a lame excuse. I replied "tell him to open his wallet". Ok folks stopped going here a while back due to the change in food. Saw they had a new partnership and a new menu so thought I would give them a spin. As mentioned in a previous review the lavender moon was painfully sweet, well it still is but they have other concoctions that are less sweet. Cannot remember the name but it was gin with cucumber and was refreshing and delicious. My friend and I started with the dates...... they were amazing, and beautifully presented. My friend had the salmon and I had the pork chops. Both can be dry and overcooked but not this time. The salmon was perfectly cooked. The pork chops I was a little nervous as it mentioned peanuts but I am a sucker for the weird sounding thing on the menu. not a peanut sauce but whole peanuts in an almost thai spicy goodness. The chops were moist served with smooth creamy mashed potato. Frank you have redeemed yourself and your collaboration with this menu. I went there today with a girlfriend for a Yelp Pickle Party event. It was a lot of fun! We tried four different kinds of pickle vodka drinks and picked out our favorite. My favorite was the pickle lemonade It had a nice pickle flavor not too sweet or sour. They also had pickle cupcakes which were yummy and other various snacks. We ordered the Fry Flight which consisted of three different fries garlic and chives, parmesan, and sweet potato fries. They were served with a garlic tajin aioli, avocado and lime creama, and a house made marshmallow fluff. They have a great variety of cocktails. I had a hot drink That was made up of peppermint simple syrup, white chocolate syrup coffee liqueur topped off with peppermint whipped cream. So good! This brewery has expanded in size over the past few years. There is a large outside seating area to include a rooftop view. Their drinks come out on the classy side by visual representation. There are mixed drinks and wind to include beers. This place is fitting for anyone to fine a diverse amount of drinks on the menu. Local art throughout. I would definitely come back. read more

Very disappointing. Have come a few times now, they've since expanded to have an upstairs outside. Usually they have really good drinks and food. We came during Harry Potter week or whatever - it was very busy for a Thursday. Poor management - when you have an event to bring in people, generally you should have enough staff to support the amount of business coming in. The idea is to bring in more business ie more money right? They had one bartender for a full place, who looked about 12 by the way, drinks took about 30 min each round. Our waitress let us know but was a bit snarky about it. The poke was not very good. Poke bowl was a mistake as were the nachos. Our fry flight was cold - had to be sent back - which the waitress (not our main) was not nice about. Fire whiskey was disappointing. They do have a fun little "try your own" drink that you simply pick the liquor and say how you want it like sweet, non-sweet, etc. and the bartender makes a different cocktail for you. Mostly they are good, our party tried a couple and they were tasty. I've had decent experiences previously but this most recent experience was definitely disappointing. Very cool place to hang out! Came here for a Yelp Pickle Party with pickle cupcakes and samples of pickle drinks. Upon arrival the parking lot was packed. I parked outside, my daughter parked in the parking area. From the outside it looks like an industrial building. You enter, off to the left is the brewery, shinny and bright. Plenty of tables to sit at. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. I toured the building, the kitchen area was clean. The women's bathroom very clean and handicap accessible. We had fish and chips, the fish was good, the batter was crunchy. The tarter sauce and ketchup tasted freshly made, scrumptious! We were given 4 drink samples, Kind of a Big Dill was spicy, sweet, ginger with a hint of vinegar maybe. Pickle Lemonade was a lemon, ginger drink, my favorite. Sonic Pickle was cheery or strawberry with pickle flavor. Hot Momma was exactly that, extra spicy, ginger, pepper and tobacco . Definitely a go to place to eat and drink! read more

Went with a friend after it was recommended for dinner. I am always excited to try new places. It was not super packed so we were seated right away. There was a band playing with was cool. A little loud but probably because it was not super packed inside. There were people outdoors. I ordered the children flatbread and fries. I asked the server about pork as I don't eat it and was told there wasn't anything on this although the menu said otherwise. I told her that I didn't eat pork. When it came out there was pork on it. Staff was great with working to take care of it. I requested fresh fries which I got as well. I ate the fries as I waited. Sadly the second time, there was no chicken. I still ate it. My rating is a four because despite everything the staff was great about correcting it and making sure that I was good. I would go back and try other menu items next time I am in town. read more

If I could give a negative review I would have. I went for an brunch activity. We ordered food and two people got food and the rest was a wrong order. The sever had not written anything down on and the rest of the order was was completely wrong. Then one other person got food and three others had not gotten food. A hour and half into it still no food and we spoke to the server and rudely told us that we had nothing to to do but wait. When as for manager she said not available. I went up to ask for a manager spoke to a women said was moving our ticket up and took another hour before w had to ask again. They were happy to give us more drinks and get us drunk with no food. read more

We drove over an hour from Grants, NM to eat at this restaurant. Prior to leaving we called the restaurant to verify they were still serving food until 11pm, which is the closing time listed on Yelp, Google, and their website. The person who answered the phone statutes they were open until 11 and that last call was at 10pm. We arrived at the restaurant a little before 9pm and when we were sat the waiter explained they had no food and were doing drinks only. I explained we drove over an hour to their restaurant and he apologized and said that all the cooks clocked out because no one had been in the restaurant for over an hour and a half. Pretty frustrating that they would do this and there was no mention of this when we called. I really wanted to try this place but guess I won't be able to as I'm not in ABQ too often. read more

Food is good and service good. We went during the playoffs for the 50/50 burger challenge we had read about online so it was loud but understandable. Go for the food alone since they quit offering the 50/50 burger challenge. Disappointing as my husband was all starved and ready to chow down but I still enjoyed it as the chile burger was very good . We took a small RV and plenty of room if you have to bring a large vehicle in. Interesting to see the homeless over the fence on the train tracks having some type of barbecue, no reflection on the distillery as I believe the homelessness is abundant in Albuquerque. read more

Hollow Spirits is one of my new favorite places in ABQ. It's a small place, but always seems busy. Great Patio. Have those crowds discovered how great the food is? Or are they happy to see a place near "downtown" that isn't just another brewery, burger & pizza place. Yes, I love that we have so many great local breweries in our city; but sometimes I want to enjoy a more upscale evening. Hollow Spirits offers that opportunity near my neighborhood. Sometimes a specialty cocktail is just what I need, rather than a glass of dark beer. Everything I have tried has been really good, but I am still a huge fan of their Charcuterie Board. Great choice for sharing . . . but I have dreams of having one in front of me and NOT having to share. HIDDEN GEM!! My dad sold a few items from his culinary arts apparel store to the head chef, which brought us out! To begin we had the cheese board... delicious! I started following Hollow Spirits on Instagram and when they featured their pumpkin spice vodka I rushed right over. This establishment gets better and better every time I visit and I can tell I am not alone in thinking this. They expanded their patio with a second floor to accommodate occupancy. Which means business is good! Their food and cocktails are top notch and do not disappoint. My sister and I shared the charcuterie and their creamy Mac & cheese with carne. I enjoyed the menu - It was more upscale menu than the average Albuquerque eatery and included lots of things I thought looked good (pesto gnocchi, pasta with clams, seasonal salad, kobe burger, etc.) It was a little on the expensive side, but everything we ordered was good. I wanted it to be fantastic, and it wasn't quite... like I ordered my $18 kobe burger cooked medium rare and it came out medium well. My dining companion ordered his half/half burger medium, and it was bloody. We both liked our burgers, but I never understand why restaurants ask if they aren't going to deliver. It just sets you up for dissatisfaction! The fries were super tasty. The cocktails were excellent. That would be a reason to go back to this place for sure. First impressions are important, and my first impressions were like my drink and ramen, lukewarm! I had high hopes for this place as my buddy highly recommended it, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and would go back but I wasn't thrilled with my first experience. And my wife had a good experience as opposed to mine. Queuing off the evening our waiter informed us as we were ordering they were out of a few things as they were transitioning from theirs seasonal menu. A few items turned into three main entrées... it doesn't sound like a lot, but when you got a menu with 10-15 main entree it's almost 30%. Instead of the gnocchi I settled for the ramen and I was pretty disappointed. Let me start off by saying I'm pretty biased when it comes to anything Asian, even with that I was disappointed in it. Ramen came lukewarm chicken broth, why chicken broth when it comes woth pork belly chashu? Ramen classically a pork bone broth. The pork belly more like strips of bacon as opposed to a marinated braised cut as it should be. Eggs were like ice cubes as were the mushrooms, no kinda garnish not even green onions or nori paper as far as flavor it was one sad flat note. They did warm it up upon request. My Apple Jacks drink seemed like an awesome choice on a cold night as you could get it hot, but like the ramen it came out lukewarm, for $14 you better be on point with your cocktails, and to get the temp wrong is inexcusable. The cherry on top was when one of my buddies asked the waiter for salt but to our surprise we were denied! He told us the chef would chew his head off as he already seasoned it to perfection! Please, get over yourself chef. I can understand if you had three Michelin stars, even one star! But for your ego and self sense of "pride" to be so badly damaged because everyone has a different sensitivity to salt is beyond comprehension, come on seriously? The staff here should be making this place inviting and you should have a sense of welcome and customer service, not being judged or scolded because you ask for a condiment. All in all I will give it another chance as they look like a solid place when they have their act together, their spirits and cocktails seem to be pretty creative and tasty, but the restaurant definitely have some personality flaws it needs to work on for me to be a regular. read more

Hands down, my new favorite place for a fabulous cocktail and a tasty bite. We popped in for a break from the craziness of the holiday. And it was a great choice!! The bartender greeted us immediately and made us feel at home. He was really knowledgeable about all of the cocktails and helped us choose one to try. Their list is incredible and there is something for everyone. Not your average mixed drink, very much hand crafted by folks who truly care about highlighting their spirits. One of the options on the menu is to have the bartender craft something just for you. This was no generic "if they ask for rum, make this" drink. He asked me several questions about what I liked and created a drink like nothing I'd ever had before. So very cool. Really great atmosphere, can sit inside or they have a really nice patio. I aways enjoy the 50/50 burger, it's half beef half chorizo. They also just added a Kobe burger which looks amazing but I think just has too much going on. Their signature is the lavender moon, it's one of the best drinks I've ever had. They make their own lavender vodka which is the real gem of this place. If you're a lavender fan this is the place to go. The lavender moon is made with coconut cream and lavender vodka, sounds a little weird but tastes amazing. Apparently they don't serve shots, even though it's a distillery, but they did give me a shot sized serving of the lavender vodka in a normal cup. Very tasty. read more

I was invited to an event here to meet the new Yelp Manager, Destiny. What a pleasure to meet her and I wish her much success. We also got to meet the owner of the distillery, Frank. It has been a labor of love for him and his family to get this business off the ground. They are doing a fabulous job and they should be very proud of their effort. Frank took our group on a distillery tour and explained the entire price from start to finish in how they make their products. It was immaculately clean and they produce many wonderful whiskies with a variety of infused flavors. Some of the most popular are lavender, dill pickle, and double barrel. They have many creative drinks using their own liquor and several beers and ciders from local New Mexico brewers. We shared a wonderful charcuterie platter. The banana split is something want to try next time. I will be back and bring others to sample some other tempting things that come out of their kitchen. Hollow Spirits is just good vibes, good food, good drinks, and incredible people. Frank is a cool dude and distills their spirits while Chef Tristin whips up some awesome dishes. The 50/50 burger has chorizo and other meats in it to make it SUPER flavorful and tender, probably one of my favorite burgers in town. The bartenders are also on hand with tons of experience to whip up some really unique and delicious craft cocktails. Never disappoints! The atmosphere is laid back like a brewery but the food and drinks are always high quality fine dining taste in my opinion. Tonight I had their special of the week drink the "witches brew" in good spooky season spirit and it was fabulous. With the dry ice smokey bubbly affect like a cauldron and it tasted like fall with it's apple infused vodka & toasted cinnamon simple syrup, it was delightful. For dinner I ordered the pork tenderloin medallions and wow my mouth was watering from start to finish. Even when I was full I finished the entire plate! Absolutely would order again.
