Only a block from the Albuquerque Amtrak station, Silver Street Market is a full service supermarket that does a really nice job catering to travelers in transit. We were traveling from Los Angeles to Chicago on the Amtrak Southwest Chief, and Albuquerque was a maintenance stop on the way. This meant that we would be at the station for at least 35 minutes, and would give us the first opportunity to do more than stretch our legs at a stop. Our cabin steward suggested stopping by this nearby market for supplies and souvenirs. It is less than a 5 minute walk from the station and they were well staffed with cashiers to check us out. We were on the meal plan so no need for snacks. But I wanted a bottle of the green chile wine and a prominent display in front made it easy to pick one out. Cost was $12.99. Lots of homeless folks around , they all raced towards our car as soon as we parked to get first dibs in asking if we had any change. And this was day time , for sure be careful at night!!!! I've been coming to Silver Street Market for 10 years, and I've always tried to be a good customer and follow the rules. In 2026, when I had just gotten a new dog, he had an accident inside the store. I was embarrassed, but I cleaned it up right away because that's my responsibility. I didn't argue, I didn't leave it there--I handled it. After that, I was banned, and that's what really hurt. I've supported this place for a decade. I've spent my money here, talked kindly to staff, and treated the store with respect. One mistake with a new dog shouldn't erase ten good years. I truly wish they would unban me and give me one more chance. I even hoped to work here one day because I care about this place that much. It doesn't feel fair to lose something I valued over one moment I already took full responsibility for. I'm leaving one star because I'm sad, not angry. I still believe this is a good store. Got off a train at the station nearby with a ton of other people, all walking in with our bags or backpacks. I had a small shoulder bag on my back. But for whatever reason the security guard singled me out and told me to leave my bag at the cash register. I saw someone leaving with a full size backpack on with no issues. If you're near the Amtrak station, or anywhere downtown really, you can't find a better market than Silver Street. Staffed by knowledgeable folks who are seemingly always in a great mood, and full of food and sundries to fit any taste or budget, this little place is a gem. Amtrak's Southwest Chief stops in ABQ long enough that any passenger has time to make the short walk here and back, and the selection of pre-made food is miles ahead of the junk you'll find on the train. Their ten varieties (no really- TEN!) of breakfast burritos are my favorite, and I wish I'd taken a photo before consuming them, but oh well! Basically, go here, be happy, thank me later. read more

I feel badly. I was really looking forward to this little grocery store around the corner from where I live. But now that it's open, I am disappointed. I want to love this place, but it just isn't the quality I was expecting. There is no way I'm going to purchase any kind of meat from here. It doesn't seem fresh. The produce is hit or miss, and that may be because people may have started to head elsewhere. Howie is giving me the courage to actually say what I really have felt since this place first opened. One thing is for sure: The owners really want to please everyone. If you let them know what you would like to see there, they will try to bring it in. And they are doing that. But unfortunately, their store isn't big enough to please everyone. This place feels more ghetto than not, and I dreamed it would be more like a mini Whole Foods. The carpeting, instead of tile, doesn't help. Sorry. I will continue to go here when the time allows, since I will have to go elsewhere to complete my shopping list. This means I will continue to do the bulk of my grocery shopping at Whole Foods or La Montanita Co-op. It's small, so they don't have a large selection of everything, but the selection they have is quality. The manager and cashiers are extremely friendly and always make conversation. This is a great little place that's very convenient if you live in the area. Good selection of all the basics, fresh produce and meat, with a deli that serves boars head meat and cheese and hot food. There's a big selection of beer, wine and spirits. One complaint... they need to hire security for the entrance. Silver Market is a quaint little grocery store in Downtown Albuquerque. It has everything I've ever looked for including delicious and sometimes spicy breakfast burritos and donuts! It's not quite as big as the 'other' downtown market and some items are a bit pricey but I believe it serves its purpose for me. I enjoy the walk from my office to grab an apple in the afternoon or an early morning donut! It also has a variety of organic & healthy foods. This place has zero respect for the tenants that live above them. They music is so loud it comes through the apartment floor. I called to ask them to turn it down, whoever answered said they would get a manager and put me on hold. I was put on hold for over 20 minutes (with screenshots to prove it) and nobody ever came to the phone and I'm still sitting here listening to the music coming through our floor. Worse, they keep their music on overnight, when NOBODY is in the store (they close at 9pm) so every night I struggle falling asleep from the sound of their 24hour music. All I wanted to ask the manger was to turn it down and not have it running all night. But this place doesn't care. read more

This is a great drop in on the way home grocery store!! They seem to have a bit of everything. The isles are well organized. There is a deli to get sandwiches, prepared sides and sliced meat and cheeses. Their produce section has a variety of choices but does not hold as many choices as a larger grocery store! S.S.M. is a convenient smaller style grocery store. It's in the downtown area which makes it easily accessible to people that live in the area and people that work downtown. Their premade chicken fingers are really good as well as some of the other foods in their deli case. They also sell alcohol and in 4 more months ill be 21 so i can buy some! Silver Street Market isn't exactly what I thought we'd get for our downtown grocery store. It's smaller than I'd prefer and the location (right accross from the bus station is less than ideal. But, it's a scrappy little grocery store. It reminds me of New York bodegas. Considering it's petiteness they have put together a fine selection. More variety than you'd expect. And a fine liquor section. I've been especially impressed by their selection of fresh fish! The staff is always awesome! And when a vagrant needs ousting they do it with kindness. Great convenient store with snacks, groceries, coffee, etc and a nice comforting New York vibe. There is one thing, all the crackheads seem to hang out at the front of this store for some reason and you can't enter the store without being yelled at or asked for change from my experience. On several occasions I have witnessed people try to run out of the store with a hand basket of goods but the attentive workers have always caught them. All of the employees seem very depressed which I completely understand from having to deal with things like that on the daily basis but they're always friendly. While some of their options tend to be a little be more expensive than your typical grocery store, they do have some unique options that you sometimes can't find unless you go to sprouts or Whole Foods. They have a really great beer selection that changes frequently. Their build your own 6 pack has awesome options and their liquor options are pretty nice as well. Cool downtown market that seems to be doing their best but still struggling with labor or supply chain issues. I went in looking for some breakfast or even a pastry. They had a few donut choices that were individually wrapped in plastic but not much else. There were several people waiting at the deli counter but no workers in sight. Maybe they serve breakfast there but wasn't going to wait too long to find out. The interior was clean and the staff was friendly. The exterior was typical of a downtown, urban area with homeless and a hint of urine. Overall, I had a decent plastic wrapped donut that satisfied my morning hunger. read more

I have been going to this market for years. I have always appreciated the friendly cashiers and delicious food. The convenience of their location is great. HOWEVER, I will no longer return. Due to a very very rude employee named Radiance. Name is quite a joke. She refused to exchange an item for me, claiming it is "illegal". She then PRETENDED to call her manager and ask him the question. When she hung up I saw the name of the person she called.. MOM. When I confronted her about this she said that had called her manager. I asked her to call back on the store phone and so I could talk to them. She refused. Luckily the product I bought is a local brand, and the company exchanged the items for me. But for those of us who live or work downtown, Silver Street Market is the perfect place to grab necessities without having to drive 15 minutes to a Smiths or settle for another Subway lunch. I was taking an Amtrak train that stopped for an hour in ABQ and the conductor recommended this market as a place to grab lunch, snacks, and beverages since the train cafe only offers overpriced, crappy stuff. This market just a block away from the ABQ train station was a godsend as I grabbed a meal from the deli counter, salad from the produce section, cold drinks, and a few NM food items (red and green chili sauce, homemade tortillas). We shop at Silver Street Market every day. The staff all know us, and have even occasionally opened the door for us when we showed up just after closing time for an item. They make decent breakfast burritos fresh every morning, and there is usually something tasty on the hot deli menu. Prices tend to range from quite reasonable to a bit on the spendy side, but we can do a day or two of grocery shopping without feeling the pinch. And as a close second, yeah, some of the prices aren't as good as a suburban Walmart, because they're paying for rent in Downtown ABQ. But bless its soul, it's a real live grocery store in the downtown core, and for that, we should all be grateful. I love this place. They do a good job with the space available in this small corner market. They also do a good job of keeping the vagrants out and away from the door which is no small feat in the city core. You can park your car at any metered place and four quarters will get you plenty of time to shop, or you can use the Second Street garage for parking, get your ticket validated and find your parking was free! This grocery store is at least as big as ghetto Smith's, is very clean, employs friendly helpful staff, and has a full stock of normal grocery needs. I hadn't gone in the store before because I had assumed it was a small bodega style store. Nope. It's a full in grocery store inside. The prices are pretty good too, for being so convenient. Produce seems fresh & maintained. Items on sale were notable. If you want overpriced groceries, go to Lowe's on Lomas. You want overpriced organic, go to Whole Foods/Co-op. (This store does carry a wide variety of natural & organic products in all depts.) Parking is the only real issue, but c'est la vie. Seriously, I shop for a living. This store is more than adequate, it's a breath of well needed fresh air in downtown living & commerce. I will be bringing a lot of my shopping needs, for my clients, here.
