TRUE IRISH 2AM BAR... We're driving through West Boca Raton and had an hour to burn until dinner and searched the internet for a non-commercial pub for a couple of craft beers. Patience gets reward and we finally found this Holloway's Irish Pub off Powerline Road. Tucked away at the rear of a modern plaza against a beautiful tranquil canal. It had an inviting huge front patio with several tables. We entered as a friendly woman, later identified herself as Bertha, told us to come right inside. At first glance, I was pleasantly impressed by the real Irish interior decor which felt comfortable and cozy. Plenty of Guinness signs on the walls - beer of the Irish. Three dart boards on a wall in a side room on the right with a sign that says Dart League Nite. A good size circular bar to the left. They offer a digital jukebox and a cigarette machine for customer use. As we took a seat at the empty bar, Bertha quickly gripped the beer taps and showed us a food menu. Bertha advised that the roasted chicken wings $14.99 and the shephard's pie $16.99 were the best sellers. Actually, the menu listed several mouth watering dishes including the Irish Coffee with Jameson. They did offer good quality craft tap brews. We ordered two ice cold beers, a Barrel of Monks Single in Havana and Funky Buddha Hop Gun. Had great conversation with Bertha but had to leave for a dinner engagement. Going to return to try the chicken wings and of course the cold craft beer. The men's bathroom was very clean and included six empty beer kegs - loved the added touch. Googled bars in Boca Raton for a quick beer before heading to dinner at my daughter's place. We ended up at Holloways Irish Pub. Upon entering this dimly lit bar we were greeted by Bertha, the bartender. She immediately gave us menus and asked what we would like. We ordered 2 beers and had a look around. There were 3 dartboards and a newer style juke box that didn't really fit into the "Irish pub" ambiance but the music was good. We asked Bertha what she recommended food wise and she suggested the wings, the fish and chips and Irish stew. We will return to try the food next time we are in that area. read more

Best place to be on St Patrick's day. Live music, plenty of space with tables, tops and chairs. Next to Carrara's on SW 18th there's parking in the lot for the shopping center. Cute little bar with a great set up for St Patrick's day. Outdoor tents set up with green beer and the inside was rocking. Service was great with sn awesome staff! We went there for St. Patrick's Day. Food was very good and the service and entertainment even better.

1st time attending this establishment with my girlfriend and will not be returning. The owner blackmails customers into paying for the price of 5 single drinks rather then a double drink charge, causing the bill to sky rocket. 3 rounds and 2 shots should not be 140 dollars at a place with poor management and a very inexperienced bartender. read more

Upon moving back to Boca I made this place a go to for drinks and a vibe. This was crashed to the ground when the Bartender that made me a believer of this small bar was let go by the owner, Bertha. Samantha was the ONLY reason myself and a number of people that came in on Sundays, Wednesday's and Friday's even supported that bar. No other bartender can make the already (let's be honest) subpar food remotely as appetizing as Samantha did. She made everyone's food with love. She made everyone's drinks with love. She participated with her customers. Who doesn't buy a good bartender shots? At least she never got up on the bar dancing like a stripper...lame. When Samantha worked the place always looked and smelled freshly cleaned. I went in at open on days when others worked the night before and the place was often dirty and floors were sticky and nasty. She had to clean the mess of the other terrible employees there, who are young and don't know the concept of what "clean really is". This place will lose business, not just from me but the rest of Samantha's customers. Samantha made this dull bar shine brighter. Terrible business choice, Bertha. Maybe you should pay attention to and value your employees that actually RESPECTED your establishment instead of immature KIDS that just eat your food in the back without paying for it, and leave your bar disgusting at the end of the night. Shame on you. I will not be recommending this bar to anyone, with SO much POTENTIAL, poor choices are made. It's tragic. read more

Went here yesterday for very first time! Being I'm full Irish wanted to give a few of our favorite meals a try at this place. First was greeted by Kirby and she was a sweetheart put the TV on for us to watch NASCAR then golf. She talked over the menu with us. I was set on having Shepherds pie and it did not disappoint it was delicious. I've had it at many places in my life and this was great! My man had the Cuban corned beef he enjoyed it a great deal. I tried it corned beef was delicious nice n lean the way we like it. Can't wait to come back again for a nice Irish party!!! If you are fresh out of prison and you are missing it, this is the place to go. 2 sandwiches that I almost had cut open with a pocket knife with one of them coming with an open bag of chips. Would have gotten something else from their large menu but was informed all they had was prison corn beef sandwiches for the low of 40 bucks. Ordered a Guinness to wash it down and it was about as warm as my urine and tasted about the same. The waitress told us that we should have come earlier and basically told us to not expect much more than what we were getting. If you plan on going here you might just wanna drop down the the local county station and try and get a meal there. read more

Smelled of bleach and coveted with Guinness posters, so, authentic Irish hole, with the usual crap line-up of beers, Yeungling capping the swiftly unpalatable list (Stella, Blue Moon, Smithwicks, the tasteless bottom feeders). BEEN THERE DONE THAT!!!! The place is hard to find because of all of the constriction, once you find it and walk in it's small, the bartender was very friendly we were 4 people on 2 tabs. One tab was 4 carbombs 2 drinks and 2 guinness $62 one tab 2 carbombs 4 drinks $49 crazy prices! When the breakdown happened it was a 8 dollar guinness they write it by hand so it may or may not be consistent the owner was sitting and drinking at the bar talking to the bartender about how many sink disinfectants they have, and said 9 was fine for the week....uhhh no you use half of that in a day depended on how "clean" you are. My glass was dirty, when I mentioned, it the glass was looked at, and I made a joke about drinking it until I reached the dirty part, and it was laughed off with a high five and not met with an "I'll take care of that " So as I said a been there done that bar! read more

If you want a nice, local place with great Irish music, this is it! One of the few places around that pours a great pint. Love coming here to watch sports or play darts. Decided to stop in to check this little Irish Bar out. Teeny Tiny place. They have a dartboard. Prices are outrageous but we knew it wasn't the bartenders fault. I also noticed something strange... and that is- that the bartenders were also the "cooks" ***with the owner micro managing - while sitting at the bar drinking*** I found it hysterical -that she ( the owner ) actually had the audacity to ask not only myself, but another patron as well, to "buy her a drink" We all thought she was kidding around. I didn't think she was serious about us having to actually pay her for HER drink at HER bar... but when I asked for my check she had indeed told the bartender to add on "2 Baby Guinness's" to our bill! ( which happened to be $18 dollars! ) I was splitting the tab with my buddy and he asked me what a "Baby Guinness" was... to which I replied_ how it was the drinks for the owner of the bar ---and she butted into our convo with a comment about 'being jewish' ! (LOL) to which my buddy got a bit offended-- and she then proceded to tell us, she was in fact jewish and that isn't what she had said. ( mind you, this woman is not Jewish-perhaps Spanish or even European but definitely not Jewish -lmao) I thought the entire ordeal was funny and I felt like I was being "Punked" or on some sort of rendition of my own Seinfeld episode! I also ordered a "Flatbread Pizza" and laughed pretty hard with my buddies when a TOSTINAS PIZZA arrived in front of me. The bartender looked embarrassed. Again- not her fault. This place truly reminds me of a village pub somewhere in Ireland or Great Britain. It's a fun, local place where you can have a round of beer, some home cooked, fresh food, and a game of cards or darts. We were actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food - so it's worth a go just for that. Nothing fancy - but good, hearty pub fare. Eh, skip this place if you arent a beer drinker. I tried to order a Martini and was told that they did not have Vermouth, no Martini glasses, no olives and only bottom shelf Vodka. The bartender was nice/friendly but really, I'm a Martini drinker and all they had was cheap wine/beer/bottom shelf and sugary mixers. Maybe their regular clientele is easy to please but I won't be going back. It's a shame because its so close to my home. I was told that their other location is a "full bar" but if its anything like this one, I'd say skip it...there are better Irish bars in the area. Their food is greasy and limited too. Decided to check this place out because we noticed it was right around the corner from our home. Really neat little place. Friendly and attentive bartender and good beer. It wasn't busy at all (then again, we went on a Thursday night). Only negative is that they were either 1) just playing screamo death metal music all night or 2) someone was paying for and playing the screamo death metal music on the juke box (I suspect it was the latter). Either way, it was painful. Almost left after one drink because of it. "Hotel California" came on in the middle of the screamo set and I never wanted it to end. That being said, would definitely probably go back and hope no one is playing horrible music song after song on the juke box. read more

We showed up for dinner and drinks with six people. It was a Monday night but there was only our group and another couple at the bar. Nobody was behind the bar, we sat for about ten minutes before the bartender/cook/custodian/server came to our table and took drink orders. We also ordered natchos. She got our drinks ok and then disappeared then came back with the nachos. They were simply toststitos with melted cheddar cheese. The sour cream had been frozen and went through a chemical change. We then ordered food and she disappeared again for about 20 min. Turns out she was all by herself for the night. First of all, this was extremely unfair that the owner put that much pressure on one young lady. That is poor business. The owner either should be closed on Monday night or get their fanny down to the bar and help with the duties. I will not be back. I give this place a year and a half and they will be finished. read more
