Such a great time! Sat at the chefs counter which gives an overview of the dessert and meat/grill…read morestation and so much fun to watch the action. Was sat right away after arriving and greeted shortly after. The convent was described as this was my first time in and the specials of the day also provided. After reviewing the menu I went with the corn bread, fried quail and the strawberry cream puff for dessert. The cornbread was amazing with the butter and softness while having a nice outside crunch. The quail had amazing crispy outside and the meat seasoned well, the creamed corn went well and finally the strawberry cream puff had nothing left. So delicious. I love that the restaurant basically wraps around the kitchen to give a full on experience.

Avoid at all costs. We showed up on a girls trip excited to…read moredine here. We were completely mistreated by the staff (except the one very sweet girl at the front desk). They seated us in the far back table which we instantly thought was strange, considering they had many open tables for us. As we were ready to order our dinner and drinks, our server told us to order food first, insinuating that we were incapable of having a drink. When we asked him if there was a problem he simply said they can not serve us drinks, simply because we are a loud bunch of girls, which they took as unruly? We chose to leave and when asked to speak to a manager. We were greeted by a very RACIST white lady named Osha. No personality and no clue on hospitality. If you run a restaurant that is so "popular" you need language training. Thankful we didn't give them our business. They certainly do not deserve us. This is a racist establishment.

Amazing, that's all I have to say. Naw, for real though, was surprised when I arrived at the layout…read moreof the venue. Def gives the old school compound vibe with the rock wall entrance to the long drive way and drop off area. There were three peacocks on the property, one albino which was on the roof and what a site to see! The restaurant is so quaint and the inside just beautiful decorated and the layout used the space well. The menu was tidy but impactful. Started with the fried green tomatoes, amazing. Fried chicken with Gouda mashed potatoes (chicken was a tad spicy....stopped eating the skin half way) but very flavorful. The potatoes were sooo creamy! I had to save room for dessert and got the cherry crumble which was home made and you could taste the freshness of the cherries. Kelsey was the person taking care of me and they did a great job. There were a few lulls in the timing of the service but overall they gave solid recommendation and kept the meal moving in a timely fashion. went home with leftover from each dish and the leftovers were delightfully delicious. I've already made a reservation for brunch in July! Highly recommend and would go back

Hands down one of the best brunches I've had in Austin! Imagine dining in a garden oasis surrounded by stunning oak trees and peacocks! It was awesome. The food was for the most part fantastic as well. We ordered: - Fried chicken eggs benedict - unique southern twist on a brunch classic. It was absolutely delicious, and I appreciated that the chicken had a nice kick to it! - Pork chilaquiles - my girlfriend loved this. - Coconut chia pudding - so good and served with fresh fruits which elevated the flavor further! - kolache - this was the only average item. Not super flavorful. Our server was friendly, attentive and efficient. Valet service was $10 and well worth it! Matties also offers a wedding venue and an inn onsite, both of which look absolutely dreamy. Highly recommend, wonderful experience overall!

Absolutely wonderful experience at Emmer & Rye with the fam tonight! This is one to try for sure!…read moreFirst off, beautiful restaurant with great people and great ambiance - service is attentive, kind, and genuine. Second - they have Michelin Green Star and are ZERO waste - and they explain throughout the meal how they make this happen. So very cool. And the food - 5/5 for sure! So good to know - we learned that the best way to order is sharing. The restaurant makes items as they're ready, and that means if you order a pasta, and someone else orders the chicken; you might be eating your dishes at different times. Good news! We love to try everyone so don't have to ask me twice! Standouts - Johnny Cakes with toasted egg foam. Delicious and decadent - not to be missed. The bread - everyone loved it. The butters and honey made on site using leftover cheese, yogurt and fruits (aka zero waste). All the pasta, but specifically the Cacio e Pepe - perfection. I could say something about everything but to suffice to say it was all wonderful!! Thanks for a great night!

Overall: 4.5/5 [Dine In]…read more The staff was welcoming, and the restaurant is dog friendly! We brought our friend's dogs to the outside patio, and the staff even brought out a water bowl for them which was sweet. The food came out at a good pace. They recommend 7 plates for 3 people, but we only ordered 4 since we had a heavy lunch. If we had a bigger appetite, adding an extra pasta or protein would round out the meal nicely. Smoked Gulf Oyster ($18): Four oysters served in a delicious pork and miso butter. I am not an oyster person, but this one completely won me over. The flavor is already perfect on its own, so the peach hot sauce on the side is entirely optional. Johnny Cakes ($16): Six small corn cakes with an egg foam sauce. The cakes were a touch salty, but the egg foam rounded things out nicely. Pappardelle ($24): Oh my goodness, the pappardelle was so bouncy and fresh that we were perfectly happy eating it on its own. That is not to say the smoked wagyu short rib was not equally enjoyable. The meat was tender and beautifully flavored. Texas Akaushi Wagyu ($65): The wagyu leaned on the saltier side, though it may be intentional. What really shined were the beef tallow sweet potatoes in black garlic sauce and chimichurri. They were delicious on their own and did a wonderful job of balancing out the richness of the meat.
