First and foremost, I want to say that this is where I gained a love of horses, as well as the core knowledge of how to ride, groom, tack, feed, etc., which I've now gone on to use at my job. And I greatly appreciated the modifications Ms. Sandy and her team made for my sister (letting her mount from the back deck for example), as well as Ms. Sandy letting my brother and I ride with my sister (which we weren't originally going to do). The overall environment, however, was extremely negative. At the time, I was 7-8, my sister was a year younger, and my 2 brothers were a few years younger than that. But that didn't seem to matter to Ms. Sandy, who yelled at us for just about everything. (we weren't fast enough, strong enough, etc.) She yelled at her staff for tiny things, yet didn't correct them for larger ones (example: she once had my brother and I ride double, but the helper neglected to check and tighten the girth. As a result, the saddle dumped us, but Ms. Sandy yelled at us and didn't say anything to the aid.) Her expectations were unrealistically high given how young we were, how little experience we had (which was absolutely none), and the limitations my sister has. The horses regularly escaped, but she never figured out how they were escaping. Eventually, my mom felt it was unsafe to continue riding there, and so we left. However, I have maintained contact with some of the staff there (who had become friends) and they've said that all of this has not changed since I was there. Overall, I would have to say that I do not recommend this facility to anyone.

I just took my 10 year-old granddaughter who has shown interest in riding and in horses to Kelly at Kindred Spirit Farm on Saturday. My granddaughter absolutely loved it. The staff is very knowledgeable, experienced, and they practice immense amounts of safety and awareness. It is very clean and everyone is so friendly, supportive, and kind. I'm so excited to be back with the next generation! They provide a solid foundation from the very first lesson on proper tack, hygiene, health, and safety with horses. You will not be disappointed.

We did a practice ride in the ring before setting out on the trail. Since my daughter is young, they graciously led the horse on the trail. Both horses were calm and no issues on the trail. Mine tried to eat grass at the beginning, but I had already been warned and knew what to do! The trail goes back through the woods and then around the fenced in portion of the farm back to the barn. It was about 30 minutes of riding with a couple minutes on either side for getting instructions and putting the horses away. Afterwards, we said hello to the cat and bunnies, and the goats. It was a mild day and beautiful skies so the perfect winter day for a ride! We will be back when we are in town again.

The trip was a little delayed as the horses wanted to eat before hittin the road, but that gave us an opportunity to get to know the horsies before mounting them like any proper lady should. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They paired us up with horses based on experience and temperament. Trail was awesome and we saw two baby deer and a black snake. They did a group photo with us on all the horses at the end and gave us sticker! We'll be back!

I had only been on a horse one other time some 20 yrs ago. My guides were very patient, their instructions were easy to understand, and the horse was very gentle, and patient. When we walked into the empty house it looked like a construction space, a hen was walking around the inside and I even saw it poop IN THE KITCHEN! Things finally turned around when I hopped on Sherman (my white horse w/ black spots). He was a greedy little thing and ate up all the grass but he was a great horse. Steven immediately put ppl on the horses and taught us while we were riding. He was a straight to it teacher and I liked that. He definitely knows what he's doing when it comes to animals. Not sure if the petting zoo portion was extra, but we ended up feeding the goats and donkeys behind the fence. C enjoyed the pony ride, which went around 4-5 times. I thought $10 was a little on the expensive for the experience. $8 max would have been better. Kids wear a helmet while on the pony. I like how they sanitize the helmet after each use.
