The apartment was well suited for my needs and is located in a wonderful neighborhood in East LA. Pros: - Brendan and Tali are wonderful property managers! I know with apartments, the management is (very much so) hit or miss, but these two were a big hit! They were extremely easy to get a hold of, and if I did not connect directly to them, they were quick to return a call or an email. Brendan and Tali were very communicative with their residents throughout the Covid-19 pandemic on what the property company was doing to look out for their residents. In my case specifically, they were able to offer me a tremendous amount of resources in order to keep me comfortable in my home. While there were protections for residents put into place, Brendan and Tali went above and beyond those protections to further ensure their residents were not worried about missing payments or being forced out. - Dog friendly! With 2 dogs and moving into LA from outside the city, I was worried that I could not find an apartment I could afford in the area. The property company was happy to help with this and was able to approve my dogs to live in the apartment. - The price point. The biggest initial draw to this apartment was the price point. For the size and location of the apartment, I was especially drawn to the relatively low rent for the area (emphasis on 'relatively'). With being so close to Silver Lake, Echo Park, Hollywood, and Griffith Park, a rent under $2000 was a steal for me! Cons: - There aren't many cons, however I believe the biggest one is the noise level. However I say that hesitantly, because there's a fix. Because the apartment I stayed in sat along a busy street and near a fire station, it seemed that there were constant sirens and horns that seemed to blare through the apartment at all hours. I found however, that many of the windows in the apartment had been updated to double paned windows, with the exception of the front 3 windows that face the street. If I have one suggestion to the property company on improving this apartment and I'm sure others that they manage, it would be to update the windows and doors so that they do not let as much noise in or cool air in. Living here was a great experience and the only reason I moved away was work related (I moved out of state not just across the city). I highly recommend these apartments if you are living in East LA or wanting to move there!

I explained to her about my income and clearly they saw back and forward, my statements and even mentioned I have a co-signer with good history for the past 6 years and she made me to do all that and without any phone call 30 minutes after she sent a bunch of email for rentals verifications, her manager "DIANA" very rudely sent an email about rejection because of my co-signers credit and on phone call she brought another excuses, my co-signer used to be a co-signer for another 2 people with the letter of explanation we have a proof everything was on time but it's only report. Also, pay stubs are more than x3 and even x5 for source of income. As today on 26th of Feb, not these people wasted $118 only for a small commission for themselves and money from me. Also not sending my $400 deposit check back. I am trying to keep emailing and calling and leaving voicemails for DIANA and CAROLINA but non of them communicating with me. This check supposed to send out last 2 weeks and after a week Diana called me and apologized they just sent out after 10 days and because I am in LA, I would get it in 3-4 business days and now we are a week more (3rd week) I do NOT HAVE MY CHECK AND ANY RESPOND from these people. From the very beginning, I reported constant bugs spiders, roaches, and other insects coming into my apartment every day. The situation escalated to the point where I literally woke up with a large water bug crawling in my bed. Not next to it. In my bed. As a pregnant woman, that moment alone was terrifying. My child has had bugs crawling on him. I have had spider-like bugs on my body while just trying to relax in my own home. We have had bug bites inside the unit. Instead of urgency or concern, I was told this is "normal for the first floor" and that I should "deal with it," even after explaining how unsafe and stressful this has been for me while pregnant. It doesn't stop there. Every time it rains, water leaks into my apartment through the front door. I've had my door "resealed," but the water still comes in. The construction noise from the building renovation is constant and disruptive, and I never received proper communication or support about any of it. On top of all of this, my hot water is unreliable, and my sinks constantly clog, with management telling me it's because I'm on the first floor and "all the upper floors drain into mine." The plumbing and water situation is a disaster. But the worst part of this entire experience was the treatment from the on-site leasing staff. When I went to speak to her about these issues, she literally shut the door in my face. She told me she lives on the first floor too and "just deals with it," as if that makes a roach in my bed and bugs on my pregnant body somehow acceptable. Not once did management acknowledge the severity of the situation. Not once did they treat me like a resident who deserved a safe home. Instead, when I asked for help, I was told my only options were to pay a 60-day lease break fee or move to a more expensive unit. Everything about this experience has been stressful, unsafe, and dismissive especially for a pregnant woman with a young child. I'm writing this review because corporate needs to step in, and families considering moving here deserve to know what they're actually walking into.

I didn't feel like I lived in an apartment complex--I felt like I lived inside a construction zone. There was no quiet, no calm, and no respect for the people who are paying thousands of dollars to live there. And the worst part? The dust particles. The construction dust wasn't just "a little messy," it was everywhere. Floating in the air, settling on everything, and making it feel like my health was literally at risk just by existing in my own apartment. I was constantly cleaning and still couldn't escape it. It wasn't livable, it wasn't safe, and it honestly felt negligent. To make it even more disruptive, the construction workers would literally bang on our back door to get our attention while we were working. Not knock politely--bang. It was invasive, unprofessional, and beyond frustrating. The lack of boundaries and basic respect for residents was unreal. On top of all of that, management made the experience even worse by wrongfully accusing us of smoking weed, which is absolutely insane. Instead of handling things professionally or even having a normal conversation, they jumped straight to accusations like we were doing something wrong. Being blamed for something you didn't do while already dealing with noise and dust is just the cherry on top of this chaotic mess. But what truly sealed the deal for me was how they handled our attempt to leave. We told them we wanted to terminate our lease early, and we were told that all we needed to do was give a 60-day notice and pay two more months of rent. That's what we agreed to and what we were prepared to do. Instead, they proceeded to send us a $31,000 invoice for the rest of our lease. Yes--$31,000. Good luck trying to get on the phone with anybody. The property managers "phone number" is a random Uber driver in San Diego! So there's no way to even contact any higher ups if there even are any! When you request for things to be fixed, they lie and say it's already been fixed so they can collect rent from you without doing their job as a landlord. Not to mention you will be sharing the building with roaches and rats that are out day and night. There's constant brawls happening in the halls in the middle of the night that leads into the hallways, homeless people living right outside the building and sometimes making their way into the building and roaming the halls begging for drugs and food. I went two months without a functioning toilet or shower and after several complaints I was never reimbursed for having to pay for the repairs. This building is old so things break and need to be fixed all the time but they will delay you to make repairs as long as they can. The new management is very shady and never gives any answers to problems because they're trying to push all the old tenants out while they do illegal repairs on the building. They'll lie and say you haven't paid your rent when you have so they can attempt to scare the remaining people living here into leaving. Truly despicable. Look elsewhere for a place because this is a haunted house at this point.

I loved having a huge area with windows in the kitchen, and the interiors are fairly modern with a cool-toned grey walls and a chandelier. Loved having a full size fridge, compact stove/oven, and spacious walk-in closet. The onsite manager, Jessica H, is wonderful. She is always courteous and responsive via phone, email, or text, and always responded in a way that showed she genuinely cared about the experience of the residents. When I had a hornets nest outside my window or my pilot light was out, she made sure it was taken care of even when I was at work. Even now that I've moved to another area, she always lets me know if a package accidentally gets delivered there so I can come pick it up. Having strong management was definitely a bright spot of Cherokee Villas. Thanks Jessica!! I rate this building 4 stars because of the parking situation. I did not like having to pay $144 a month to park in the city lot, which often left me waiting in a 5 minute line of tourists to get into the structure. Also I lived on the third floor, and I did not like having to walk all the way down to the basement to use the washer and dryer. Oh well! Other than that, this apartment is exactly what I needed for the two years I lived there!

Hopefully major changes can be addressed as this building has lots of issues and improvements are needed. Security in the complex is non existent. Transients are constantly breaking in and accessing this property. They are casing the building and hanging out in the garage/pool area. Security cameras are not helpful especially when constant mail is being stolen. Parking garage gates have issues and are open throughout the day/night. Making transients have easy access to the building. Trash/recycling bins are always full and brings lots of insects and rodents. Pool is not heated and not cleaned as often as it should be plus inside the pool walls are dirty and metal bars are rusty. Tenant bringing homeless and drug addicts into the building. They provide the code to have access to come into the building. We have found drug paraphernalia inside and in the garage. Transients hanging out in laundry room and sleeping in the lobby. Mail theft as residents constantly have things missing and stolen from other tenants or food delivery couriers. Back door/side door gate is always tampered. Constantly see transients walking around back of building and scoping out units to potentially break inside. Police are called often here at the Amalfi. Still waiting for my reimbursement for renters insurance charges. Never heard back or followed up. Elevator is out of order and has mechanical problems multiple times this year. Rent is ridiculously priced for this building especially in this homeless infested city of Weho. Hopefully changes can occur, but from the past years of being a resident here at the Amalfi Weho since 2020 it seems like nothing has changed. The Financial Warning (The Big Issue): When I moved out, I left the apartment spotless and took 4K video proof. Despite this, they hit me with illegal deductions for cleaning and damages. When I asked for the invoices (which they are legally required to provide under CA Civil Code 1950.5), they ignored me. Instead of providing proof, they played games with my online ledger. They double-billed my account, then deleted specific charges and replaced them with vague "Security Deposit" labels to try and hide what they were charging for. They refused to fix it until I sent a formal "Notice of Intent to Sue." They finally refunded me, but only because I knew the law and fought back. The Day-to-Day Incompetence: The deposit issues shouldn't have been a surprise, because the management was disorganized from Day 1: No Onboarding: When we moved in, they didn't even bother to do a walk-through with us. No Access: No one told us how to use the Luxor package room or how to access our deliveries. Key Failures: They didn't have mailbox keys ready for us for a full week. When they finally got them, they only gave us one key for two tenants. We never received a second key. Parking Chaos: Months into our lease, they assigned our parking spot to another tenant and forced us to move to a new spot because of their error. The Verdict: It's a great location, but be prepared for a headache. They are disorganized while you live there and predatory when you leave. Advice to future tenants: Film everything. Since they skip the move-in walk-through, you need your own proof of the apartment's condition. Know your rights. If they try to keep your deposit without sending invoices within 21 days, do not let them get away with it. Expect zero support. If you need a key, a parking spot fixed, or a question answered, expect to chase them down.
