I ran a gymnastics meet and wanted some sort of light show for when gymnasts entered the competition area. Hollywood lights did an amazing job and built an amazing light show. They also built bistro lighting around our vendor area, and placed up lights to accent our awards stage and photo walls. I worked with Jason and he was so nice and easy to work with. I was hosting an outdoor wedding at my house and needed to get power out about 400 feet. I was considering generators but found Hollywood Lights instead. They came out, listened to what I needed, suggested that they install a car charger and then they could string 400 feet of cable for the day of event. The system worked perfectly and they were punctual and easy to work with. Highly recommend. read more

I had Hollywood Lights install 2 patio lights. They failed and when I went to change them the lights were not serviceable. I called Hollywood and spoke to the salesperson who asked me to take photos of the lights and text them to him. Upon receipt he said he'd have someone out to the house for a service call. no one came. I contacted him again and he said someone would come out. No one came and after waiting a month i called again. This time he gave me the number of the serviceman. I spoke to him and he said he'd be out the next day to take a look at the problem. He never showed up. When I texted him, he responded I had a problem I should call an electrician! Unbelievable. Hollywood Lights doesn't stand behind their work. They gave me a runaround and lied to me. I'll now have to have the lights replaced by someone else. I caution anyone thinking about using their services. They are disreputable. read more

Won't hire this company...my experience getting a quote was clear sign to pump the breaks! Simple quote, response time was quick. The estimate came in 4x the amount of another quote I got. Cool....responded back and let "Chris B." know and thanked 'em anyway. No big deal, moving on. Ok so I thought that was done. Then this clown decides to respond insinuating I couldn't buy or afford the materials....wait what??? UNBELIEVABLE! Here's the exact response: If you have a quote for 25% of that quote then they are paying you to do the job. Why are you still seeking more quotes. Customer Service Hands Down!!! We rented a gobo and some wall wash lighting for an event and were blown away with the customer service. I had originally asked for a Rose for the gobo. A week before we were to pick everything up I was sent a text with several of their "Rose" gobo discs. None of them looked like the open rose that I had ordered... When we arrived to get our lights we were told that an open, blooming rose has never been available and the choices that were sent are what they have. I asked if he could put the discs in and let me see them on a wall. No problem. I wish I could remember his name, but I think he is the rental manager...he showed me several of the discs that had been texted to me. He also suggested what kind of extension cord I would need. It was $3.00 to rent so I went ahead and rented it. The Rose we ended up getting was not what I had envisioned, but it was BETTER!!! As the night progressed my husband and I were fixated on that pattern on the wall. It was so much better than what we could have imagined. Hired this team to do a straight forward re wire job for me. They were to assess the existing wiring and report back to me the electrical problems in my 800 sq foot townhome. They did an ok job "fixing" all the melted wires but did a very bad job of installing wall cadet heaters and troubleshooting with my tenant. I only learned about the latter when i came to inspect the work 6 months later and it still wasn't done properly. Not entirely their fault... but between them and my dim witted tenant, an easy install took a turn to "nightmare" status, just trying to figure out what was fixed and what wasn't..a few months after the work was supposedly done and paid for. I should note, that They did try and make it right (6 months later) but i decided to hire a new electrician and start with a fresh set of eyes. Needless to say i spent a little under 2k to get a heater installed....not too happy to say the least. nice enough guys but not so great experience. read more

They've been helping us with our residential kitchen and dining room remodel and have really been very helpful throughout the entire process. Overall a great experience, particularly their installer Randy and his assistants. Randy installed a bathroom vent/heater/light combo, a bathroom vent, timer switches for those, wiring for a garbage disposal, and an exterior outlet for the porch. Minimal disruption to sheetrock and older lathe and plaster walls. My only feedback is that their front office obviously bid too low on the fixed bid, after seeing the total time required for the work. They honored the contract, the price was great, and the work was excellent, but I could tell that the installers were feeling the crunch. I appreciate the deal I got, but it was such a deal that I would still have considered a more accurate bid from them, and I felt bad for the work crew. read more

Hollywood lighting bookended a weekend full of craziness and some contrasting poor rental experience (from another company) by doing a superb job of providing lights for an event. I would not hesitate to recommend this company for any and all light rental needs. I'm sure their production is tight as well, but all I did was rent from these folks, and it was a great experience. From the moment I walked in to Hollywood I was treated well. The folks up front of all smiles and on top of their jobs. The help in planning, troubleshooting and recommending an appropriate rental solution for my needs and budget was impeccable. Ed in rentals did a solid job of crafting a great solution well within budget and it ended up looking fantastic at my event. An even better - I'm a small fish when it comes to these guys. They do multi-thousand-dollar production work and here I am renting a few can lights, some extension cords and connectors. I presented the rental counter here with some room dimensions, and budget amount and a number of circuits, as well as a rough idea of what I wanted. With a calculator in hand Ed put his expertise to the work and offered me something that, in the end, worked great. When I came in to pick up my rental, they were busy with a huge order but provided great customer service - enough so that I didn't mind waiting a few minutes at all. The check out process was very smooth. All equipment rented was as promised, and my return on Monday morning was just as easy. What really pushed my experience over the top here was the customer service. I felt at every turn like Hollywood was working for me, not against me. When it comes to the world of rental equipment, that's not often the case. I never found myself being suggested the most expensive items or extras/up-sells that would stretch out the bill. Great source for special effects makeup and EL wire. Brought my daughter when she was looking for a particular type of body make-up and she had to drag me out of there. I was like a kid at an awesome toy store. The guy working kept showing me more and more and I wanted to bring a sleeping bag and spend the night with all the glowy, shiny stuff. They can make awesome signs, they can help you prepare for Burning Man or parties of any (glowy) kind, and they have special effects makeup. I just need more excuses to use what they've got. And for the clients who are opting for a more complete lighting design, HL provides in-depth lighting consultations, safety checks, and full-service design-installation-techsupport-teardown. Even down to the 50+ brands of gaff tape, everything is super high quality. They even have theatrical makeup if you have a costume event or just for personal use around Halloween time! I was having trouble with my smoke alarm so I requested a bid from all companies that came up in my area. There were 5 total. I needed someone to come out the following day. Hollywood Lights was the first to respond. The manager, Chris was in contact with me and immediately addressed my concern. He was professional, respectful, and accommodating (I requested a phone call prior to arrival). Even though my trouble was small compared to some, Chris still treated it (and me) as important. The Electrician, Nai, called me as requested letting me know he'd be there in 30 minutes. He arrived on time and was very respectful, friendly and professional. He fixed the problem in a matter of minutes and didn't make me feel foolish (it wasn't my smoke alarm-it was the radon detector! ). Oh! and the other wonderful part?
