I have been coming here for over 10 years and have never had a bad experience. I usually go in for an eyebrow threading and upper lip and always leave knowing that there is not a hair out of place. Fozia and others take meticulous care to ensure that the result is everything you wanted. The salon is filled with chatter and laughter on busy days, and when it is empty, you can sit and relax and listen to whatever is playing on the TV. The nail techs are extremely talented as well if you are looking for no chip, regular polish and pedicure. I went here for a mani/pedi and the lady was continuously talking and texting on her phone. The foot and calf massage was nonexistent and she proceeded to Knick two of my toes with her tools. Next came the manicure - even more disappointing than the pedicure. There was zero hand massage, she just put some lotion on my hands and quickly rubbed it around put a hot towel on my hands and then proceeded to knick several of my nails at the cuticles! My fingers are still sore 6 hours later. All of this took a full 90 minutes due to her constant phone usage. I will not be returning nor would I recommend this salon to anyone I know. I should have known better than to get any services here once I walked in and saw the condition of the salon - it needs major updating as well as a thorough cleaning. read more

I have been coming here for about 7 years for my mani and pedi. My go to is Iuna or Gava. They are amazing at what they do. I've known there for a long time now and though I no longer live in the area, I still go to either one when I'm in town for my mani and pedi. Finding people that know how to do your nails perfect is hard, believe me, I know. I'm a nail biter and Iuna or Gava manage to make my nails look amazing. They are attentive to details and are picky about making sure everything is trimmed, even, and literally perfect. My hands feel rejuvenated and look incredible every time I get them done here. I used to like coming to the salon to get my eyebrows done. This last experience was not the best. Online it says that they close at seven. I arrived at 5:50, they Rest to do my eyebrows in two minutes, waxed my eyebrows and I never get them wax because it irritates my skin, she didn't even ask me. My eyebrows are not cleaned up. I have my eyebrows done here all the time. It's a much better experience than going to Bibya on Devon. It's a little more expensive but it's worth it! Today I got a mani pedi and it was perfect! It was mint and golden. They did such a great job! One of the technicians said maybe to do silver in between the mint and golden and it looked awesome!! Very pleased with the experience. Just for a face wax, she will take at least 35 min and your face will be glowing! I pay $25 for the face wax and then add on tip. I highly recommend Aisha. The prices are unbeatable. Once I got there, the lady was ready to do the manicure but afterwards, no one was willing to do a facial. What the heck! I don't get why people complain about how much threading hurts, but I will agree that you should definitely have someone from the Desi crowd thread your eyebrows and the girls at Bollywood Trendz did a great job of cleaning up the stragglers around my eyebrows as well as Sean D.'s. Sean D. suggested that we get manicures, but we ended up deciding not to since manis can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes and we didn't want to end up being late for our prior engagement. It honestly makes me wistful that I have to do this, since it's super conveniently close to a relative's place that I visit often, but I have to say that it isn't working out. The last mani/pedi I got was smudged and chipped within a few days. The last threading I got made me break out and while it looked a bit more shapely, my eyebrows didn't look very...threaded. I've never had rapid Teen Wolf kinda hair growth, but three days after getting threaded, I was getting a no-chip mani elsewhere and wanted to get a waxing, the first question out of the tech's mouth was "Eyebrows?" The whole point of getting threaded is to avoid having people think that I need/want an eyebrow wax, since as much as I love Sesame Street, I try to avoid having eyes that look like Elmo's. read more

This salon is pretty and my specific service was acceptable, but the staff just seem so disinterested that I'm not sure if I'm bothering them by coming in and asking them to work... On an empty Thursday morning almost none of the manicurists were working, yet no one really acknowledged me when I walked in. My eyebrow threader, Shenaz, was very nice. I didn't really expect her to talk to me since the thread's in her mouth, but she was generally pleasant and smiled at me. She listened to about not making my brows too thin, and was very quick with the threading. For anyone who's had their brows threaded by an unskilled or nervous threader who threads so slowly that it's a single torturous pluck at a time, you'll appreciate that she's quick. $6 for eyebrow threading is a pretty good price- some of the downtown places charge $9 or $12 for a service that involves almost no product. read more

Bollywood Trendz Salon and Spa is a new salon on Demspter and Gross Point in Skokie, not to be confused with Bollywood Salon further east on Dempster. Bollywood Trendz is lovely inside. It's cozy and cute. The staff is friendly and helpful. This place earns 5 stars for their expert eyebrow threading. I've had my eyebrows done several times by a three different women, and they all pay close attention to detail (like making sure the eyebrows are symmetrical). I explain what I want, and always get it. Mani/pedi - not bad. Over the summer, I got a pedi a few times; always with good results. But, it's not worth getting a mani there (on natural nails at least). I don't like the top coat they use; the nail polish chips by the next day. Bollywood Trendz is a full service salon: hair, nails, threading, waxing, facials, massage, etc. Apparently their specialty is waxing. Every time I come in, I see lots of women coming in for their waxing appointments. I haven't tried, but repeat customers seem like a good sign. The prices are very good. Actually I've seen way too many dirty old salons run by amateurs charge just as much or more, so honestly I am surprised Bollywood manages to keep their prices so low. I try to leave a better tip, since the service I get is so much better than any eyebrow threading or nail salon I've ever been too (an believe me, I been to my fair share). Bad customer service is a deal breaker for me no matter how good the job. After going to this place since they have opened (almost 4 years) I have decided enough is enough. In the last 6 months my experience with the nail technicians have been less then stellar. No one explains what is going on or who is going to do your service. I could deal with this and did because they do good work, but I just threw in the towel (literally). Today after sitting in a chair for 15 min in luke warm pedicure water, I walked out. When I came in (as I always do) I reminded the ladies that I am on a lunch and need to go fast. Seeing as someone was free I figured this would not be a problem. If they weren't free I would come back and it's no problem! Actually the lady who greeted me said, "yes no problem" and I went to pick my color. Well apparently her colleague had something more interesting to do in the back room on her phone (which I saw her swiftly grab from her station and walk away after I had just explained I was ok with a shortened service -- that I am PAYING for). I have had this girl before and sat through a whole service with no words. No hi, how are you doing? Nothing. Just a scowl on her face. I don't need that. The shame is she does a good job, but her people skills do not exist. Besides this one experience I have noticed that the technicians seem stressed and short staffed. You feel like you are bothering them by patronizing the salon. It's not comfortable or pleasurable. No I will take my business elsewhere where they appreciate a loyal customer and at least acknowledge my presence. read more

Terrific eyebrow threading and haircuts! My mom and I come in here regularly right before special occasions and get our hair, eyebrows and nails done and Ambreen is a DREAM. She is competent, attentive and sweet. I can't say I've had the same consistent service with the nail service, it's really hit or miss. On each occasion, I find that a cuticle on at least one hand or foot ends up getting cut and I'm reminded why I don't come here for mani/pedis. UPDATE: Ghana is your go-to person for nails. Definitely worth a return trip. The mani/pedi was very nice. The women do a lot of light massage. But my mani chipped on the car ride home. Love this place. I always have to get my eyebrow fix every two weeks. I go in usually around 7:30 and the wait is minimal. Definitely try to avoid this place on weekends, the wait can become nightmarish. Go to Tabu or Shobah-i think Tabo is on vacation but Shobah is just as good! Haven't really had a good experience with anyone else. I went in two weeks ago and got the most amazing facial ever from Shobah! The time and effort she put into the facial was amazing!!! She recommended what she thinks would be good for my face, and gave me exact price points. She was so efficient and professional! My face was glowing for weeks after!! So I love the fact that I can do all my waxing, threading and nails all in one place!!! I love my nail girl she's the best!!!! There are a few things that I think could be changed in order to really make this place a little better. 1 they need someone hired just to answer phones and take money. 2 there was a little bit of a disconnect when I came in and wanted to do my eyebrows and nails. The eyebrow girls started arguing in front of me that she had to leave at 5. But I know the nail girl also had to leave to pick up her child. Like when it's exactly 5 doesn't mean you have to be out the door. I felt a little awkward after that. I'm in the beauty industry, just because it's 5 doesn't mean you are out the door that second. 3 lastly this is for the owner herself, you need new polishes!!!! Some of them are so old and aren't holding to their potential or are all dried out then thinned out. You need new colors more opinions. read more

Probably the worst service I have ever received for a hair cut. Went in this past saturday: there's nowhere to sit, everyone walking in is told its a ten minute wait no matter how busy they are, coats and purses are all over the place because there is no designated area for such things. Bina is going to cut my hair, doesn't care to ask what I want. She's talking over me in indian the whole time to the entire staff... mid-way through my cut tells me she'll be back in five minutes!! What the #%/)!!! Had I not been cut half way thru I would have stormed out. She is unprofessional, sloppy and I wouldn't have tipped had she not been hovering over the desk while I was signing the reciept. You definitely get what you pay for here. Oh, by the way, my hair looks like shit, but I didn't notice while there because she never showed it to me or even turned my fucking chair around to face the mirror,because there were fifteen people stuffed behind the salon chairs and there was no room for my legs if I sat facing the mirrors!
