I switched to Sharon Vet clinic recently and had my dog Zoey spayed here. The post surgery medication instructions were poorly conveyed by staff. Each time I called there was an astronomical price quote that quite literally seemed like price gouging with very little service or compassionate care/communication from staff as a whole. It would be helpful if they were less forceful about their way of doing things at a high cost and more respectful and caring of the animal and owners preferences prior to suggesting things like excessive blood work and vaccinations. More animal and compassionate care focus and less profit would have made me stay. read more

I think that the staff needs to give a more thorough explanation of the wellness program that includes the included services and prices. The gold plan for dogs is 79 per month or 948 for the year. Meaning vaccines, fecal, blood and urine tests -HW and lyme tests add to 948 plus visits fee. But make sure you know what is included because if you don't get the service you still are required to pay for it. read more

I've been going to this vet for about 1 1/2 years by now and I have to stay I absolutely love this vet. They are great with my cat and are very caring towards her. They provide me with lots of info about what to look out for In sickness, and has always calmed my nerves if I am freaking out about something. The vet technicians and the veterinarian are the best I have seen. They are very caring toward the pets and make sure you understand whatever is needed to take care of your pet. Please take your cat elsewhere. This vet was unprofessional and rude. My cat hissed at him, and he refused to treat her. I was shocked because handling animals is his job, and they typically have protective gloves for situations like this. When I asked why he wouldn't use the gloves, he claimed my cat wasn't up to date on her rabies shot. My 3-year-old cat has been going there since she was a kitten and received her rabies shots from that clinic. They never notified us that she was overdue. The vet's attitude was dismissive, and after I suggested several ways he could handle the situation, he reluctantly offered to sedate her. At that point, I decided to leave and take my cat to a more caring and competent vet. This 10 minute visit cost me $79. If you value your cat's well-being, do yourself a favor and find a vet who actually enjoys working with animals. read more

For the past 7 years, Sharon Veterinary Clinic has been a tremendous source of information and guidance to me and my family as we care for our very first pet, Dixie, a mini golden doodle. After a long and careful search, I purchased Dixie for my children from a Kentucky breeder. Dr Etchinger was so comforting to me, a new puppy mom, in the early days when I was learning how to best care for my dog. His wife Susan at the front desk has a great wealth of knowledge. I have called her for advice multiple times over the years and she has always been so warm, welcoming and full of information. His staff, especially Tiana, a former dog groomer, is also so knowledgeable and helpful to me in caring for Dixie and choosing the right foods for her. His colleague, Dr. Sullivan, was superb in helping me care for a ruptured cyst that developed on Dixies back this past week. I've been bringing all my dogs here (bulldog, pug, Yorkie) for the past 5 years and I can't say enough great things about this practice. Dr. E's diagnosis and treatment plans are always spot on. For example, my bulldog had bladder stones when others thought it was UTI. He recommended that we change her diet instead of surgery. It worked wonderfully . All without drastic measures. Susan at the front desk knows all her clients and she has heart. You just mention your pets name and she knows exactly who you are and your pets' medical history. Their schedules are flexible . Despite what others say, I find that the prices in this place to be very reasonable . Let's face it, good quality pet care is expensive . A couple of years ago, an eye surgeon specialist at another practice (Bridgewater) quoted me $3500 for a surgery when Dr. E charged me less than half ! And the results were great - fixed the problem and healed nicely. This is a local gem. read more

Dr. Gregory is the best! I have an older dog with complex medical issues which took some detective work to solve. Terrible service the Asian receptionist and can be very rude. The vet is even worse he has no people skill We brought our dog , a patient, who had suffered a stroke to the clinic for help the vet said he could not help her and to take her to tufts . She had be put down 2 days later. At the time the lack compassion displayed by the vet will something by family will never forgive read more

[Note: at the request of the clinic, I have removed from my review comments pertaining to this practice before it changed hands.] The following issue occurred after the clinic changed hands: * Tufts had diagnosed our cat's vomiting as idiopathic hypercalcemia, prescribed some food for her that might help, and recommended having her calcium levels re-tested in a few months. I called Sharon Vet to schedule this re-check and they told me when to bring her in. I brought her and waited quite a while after the scheduled appointment time, only to be told that she needed to fast overnight and they couldn't do the test that day. I had to bring her back a few days later, at which point they ran not only the check on her calcium levels but tests on many other things as well. They didn't explain up front what tests they were going to run or what the cost would be, so I didn't realize what had happened until after I had been charged $500+. Later, the vet called me to explain the test results, telling me the diagnosis was idiopathic hypercalcemia, which Tufts had already determined. As far as I can tell, they ran hundreds of dollars of unnecessary tests. Much of what we've run into with this practice have been small glitches, but the fact that pretty much every interaction we have with them involves some kind of mix-up or inconvenience isn't reassuring (even getting our cats' records after deciding to switch vets took two tries). When I decided to get the dental work done on our second cat, I realized I just wasn't comfortable with the idea of having Sharon Vet put him under and do surgery on him and we decided to find another vet. The people who work at Sharon Veterinary Clinic seem very nice and our experience may have just been repeated bad luck. But if you go here, I'd recommend keeping close track of your pets' records and clarifying up front what procedures they're doing (and what prep has to happen for them) so there aren't any surprises. read more

If I was reviewing Sharon vet a year ago, I would have given it a different rating. However, the last two times we brought our pet there since the business changed owners we have been charged for unescessary testing/medications without explanation or warning. The Dr. that we saw was very rough with our dog, left me waiting in a room for almost a half hour while unecessary tests were run without explanation. I felt taken advantage of in an "emergency" situation. At the very least the test should have been explained before they were run as I may not have agreed to them. It's disapointing as we have been going there for over 5 years and it is the closest vet to us. Time to look around. read more

I have been going to Dr. Segall for years and love their staff, warm welcomes and expertise. I have had a few health issues with 2 dogs, but the level of compassion, care, and follow up is unmatched. Last weekend I had a horrible experience with my former vet who would not help my dog when he had an obvious problem with his eye. Luckily I found Sharon Veterinary Clinic. I called them and told them my situation. The receptionist seemed very understanding and although they were all booked for the day she went to speak with the doctor. When she got back on the line she told me that they closed at 2 that day but that I could bring my dog in after they closed and the doctor would see him. I was so relieved and so thankful. We had a great experience there! It turned out that my dog had a scratch on his cornea. I was given some medicine to help heal his injury. The receptionist, doctor, and vet tech were all so kind and helpful. I will definitely be bringing my dog back! read more

I am well aware and familiar with other Veterinarian practices in the the Norfolk county area and this one is by far the best. Dr. E is the most caring and down to earth Veterinarian I have dealt with. He is thorough and knowledgeable and most important treats my pets as if they were his. We are delighted with the new owners of this veterinary practice. Dr. Eichinger and his staff are clearly animal lovers. They are great with my cats and my sister's dogs and they are genuinely kind and caring to animals and the people who love them. Cats and dogs know when they are among friends and my cats are very comfortable with Dr. E and his lovely staff. We really appreciated that with a very sick older cat they did not try to hard sell us with costly interventions that would just make a very sick old cat more miserable. They placed an emphasis on our cat's comfort and dignity until he crossed the 'rainbow bridge' to frolic in the 'Summerland.' They were wonderful to our cat and to us. I brought my 4 year old cat to Dr Eichinger recently and I will never go back. He took my cat back to the treatment area for bloodwork and what I saw and heard was disturbing. The door was left open a little and I saw him being very rough with my cat and seemed extremely agitated because my cat wasn't cooperating. He then yelled and swore at a technician during the blood draw. When he brought my cat back to me she had a huge bleeding bruise at the blood draw site. He later charged me for lab tests and that we had not discussed. He tried to send me home with prescrioption medications that my cat clearly did not need. The whole visit took over an hour and a half and my bill was hundreds of dollars and I only brought her in for an annual exam with no concerns. I hate to write a bad review of any small business, but I was very upet leaving after only my first visit. I am now very skeptical when I have to bring my kitty to a new veterinarian. On the positive side, the technicians were very nice and the receptionist Susan is a joy to talk to. read more
