This is the worst dinner cruise I have ever been on. The captain was more interested in getting there quickly without regard to patient safety or care. It felt like we were in a motor boat race. One third of the passengers threw up continually as we raced around the Napali coast. He never slowed down once until he turned around to start the trip back. By then everyone was a little queasy. Then after pointing out things on the coast line he said dinner was ready. For those of us that didn't throw up but watched person after person fill bags with vomit the thought of food was untenable and of course those who were sick didn't eat either. So what we thought was going to be a leisurely dinner cruise felt like a torture chamber for 4 hours. The water was a little rough but if you can't deliver a wonderful experience for your customers why didn't they cancel it? I would avoid Holo-Holo coast tours at all costs. read more

We went for the Napali sunset cruise and had a blast. Saw tons of dolphins, there were whales in the distance, the coast was amazing & the captain & crew could not have been nicer. Water was definitely rough. Unless you stay in the middle back of the boat or inside, you are going to get wet. If you go in the front you will get soaked. But if you wear light synthetics, the wind will dry you. I'm sure it's calmer some other times, but when we went, it was pretty challenging to move around due to the swells. I'm not sure it's appropriate for little kids or anyone who is not mobile and relatively fit. People did get sick. We brought Dramamine, did not have much alcohol, and stayed on our feet most of the trip and felt fine. It was really exhilarating actually. I would definitely recommend this trip & crew to a friend. read more

Great fun and wonderful crew for our day trip! Was worried bc in the am the front desk attendants were NOT friendly! No smiles. Not a great way to start after paying 250+/person. But Glenn and his crew made up for it. They were lovely, fun, and educated! A few suggestions: bring snacks and water bc they ran out of lunch for us (we were the last ones out from the water) however they credited us a little which was very kind. Definitely take sea sickness preventatives and lots of ginger for the wavey ride. Follow their instructions and you will have a great day! We booked this through our resort and it wasn't originally my first choice- but so glad this is how we got to Nā Pali! Captain Ian and his crew Nicole and Stephan were amazing- friendly, knowledgeable, and constantly serving everyone so we could enjoy the trip. Unlimited mai tais, beer, juice, and soda throughout the trip, plus snacks and a full dinner! I expected that since this was the dinner cruise, the ride would be a bit boring- not at all! On the front of the boat especially, you certainly get sprayed and even soaked, depending on where you sit. It's a perfect adventure for the less adventurous folks! The coast itself is breathtaking- easily one of the most beautiful places on Earth. This tour takes you up alongside the coast and points out all the highlights. Crew take your family pictures with the gorgeous background. Finally, as the sun is setting, we break and sip champagne with music in the background. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip- the ride to the Napali Coast was rather rough, with at least three guests becoming seasick. The crew took great care of each and every one of us! All you can drink (even alcohol!), great appetizers on the way there, and a delicious taco bar on the way back! Less formal than we were expecting, no "inside" place to sit or catch your breath. Definitely worth the money while in Kauai even on a "winter" day when the waters are rough. Evidently the coast is always different so our views were a little different since it had been raining all morning. Saw two large rainbows and about 10-12 whales! I will have to start out by saying that my husband, friend and I didn't even make it on this tour so I cannot account for the cruise itself. But we arrived that morning and checked in with Megan. She was awesome! Great energy and super friendly. I am in the customer service business and so I care, recognize and appreciate good customer service. She explained to us that the captain would talk with the group prior to boarding and based on his information we could decide to continue with the cruise or reschedule or get refunded. The captain spoke with us and not only did he say the tour would be exciting (see other reviews) but he even specifically said it would be rough. He told us we would not be able to make it to Ni'ihau and possible not even to the Nā Pali coast. He also had a great attitude and was hilarious and would have been such a fun captain! My group and I seriously debated about what to do. Rebooking was not an option as Sunday was our last full day in Kaua'i so we decided it was best to get refunded. Megan was so cool about it and even recommended other tours to check out. She also recommended a spot to have a bomb breakfast with detailed parking instructions!! We were so appreciative of her attitude, her sincerity and her thoughtfulness. Megan totally rocks, and while I'm sure everyone does, she was our main point of contact. Yesterday we had the best day ever! We are in a group of 8 adults. The weather on Kauai has been pretty rainy and we were fearing that our tour was going to be canceled. But the morning weather was awesome, so they still made it happen! The trip out was clear and beautiful. Even got some great snorkeling in! The water was a tad murky with all of the recent rain so we didn't see a ton, but we still loved every minute of it and got good use out of the slide on the boat. We saw a ton of dolphins and a few turtles over the span of the trip. Captain Kelly, Max, and Dave really give you a good time and know their stuff. It was awesome hearing so much history about the island while we were going. Their hilarious and super down to earth. The food was good, the drinks were better, but the rainy ride back was the best part of the day. Most would take shelter in the covered area, but you're on a boat in Hawaii.. embrace the rain! We went out on the trampolines and seriously had the time of our lives. It was hilarious and the ocean water felt so warm when you got splashed. The crew were troopers and this trip really made our whole week. My sister said it was the best day of her life. Don't skip this tour! Worth every penny, and then some. I spent a day on a Holo Holo tour out of Kawaii and it was absolutely amazing! This was the best thing I did in Hawaii! The captain (Kelly) and her crew were friendly, efficient and funny. The food (breakfast and lunch) were wonderful. Snorkeling for my first time was easily accomplished with the help and support of the crew. We saw so many whale breaches and hundreds of dolphins, and Kelly made it a point to stop every time for photos, even though this extended our trip. As an aside, I met a man in Ocean City, NJ last week and I was wearing my Holo Holo t-shirt. He went out of his way stop me just to praise Holo Holo in Kawaii as being his favorite thing to do in Hawaii!!! I love being on the water, so I knew we were gonna do some sort of water excursion during our trip to Kauai. After researching the options, we settled for Holo Holo Charters and their sunset cruise. What a great choice! It was a fantastic experience! Our captain (I believe it was Glen?) was knowledgeable and entertaining and informative. He advised us of the huge swells to be expected this time of year (October), so that may have affected to length of our cruise...it's all about safety, people. Luckily, the boat and the captain handled what Poseidon threw at us... The crew, Abraham and Chellen (sorry if I butchered the spelling of those names!) were nice and funny and helpful, from doling out drinks and setting up the grub to taking pictures for folks. Awesome folks! There were plenty of drinks and food, which are included in the price of your excursion. Soda, water, beer; it was all there when you wanted it. The food (loved the kahlua pork sliders!) was good and there was plenty of it when the spread was laid out. We could not have asked for better views of the beautiful Na Pali coast. Those cliffs! Those caves! Those beaches! That shoreline! Sweet...we saw Spinner dolphin pod, which was so cool having them swim and jump all around our vessel. Unless you stay in the cabin, you're gonna get wet. Come on, folks...you're on a BOAT speeding through the ocean, hence there's spray and getting wet is part and parcel of the trip. Actually, it was still quite warm on our 10/9 trip, so it was actually refreshing to splashed. Just sayin'... One thing I would advise is to check if there are any cruise ships in Kauai the day you wanna take the sunset cruise. When there's a cruise ship in town, the tour gets maxed out and there are LOTS of people on the boat. I really thought in October there would be less people on the boat, and more room to move around. It wasn't uncomfortable, and didn't make the trip less awesome. It just would have been nice not to be have sooo many people along for the ride. Next time, I will check first and make our reservations accordingly. Oh, and do not forget to tip your crew! They work really hard to make your trip memorable, and deserve the appreciation. :) read more

I did TWO tours with this place, and the mean came out to three stars, here is why: -Na Pali Sunset Cruise- TOTALLY worth it, I give this four stars because it was a ton of fun. Jake, you made this cruise special, you were so nice. He was very attentive to my not so boat friendly seasick friend. It came out of nowhere, and there was Jake being SO helpful and sweet. You took it like a champ. The boat is larger and can fit more people. If you want to get soaked, sit up at the front if and when weather is decent, and the boat rocks fast. The food was great, it was a taco set up with fish, meat, chips, and a ton of other yummy things! Over all, this trip was great, you do get to see the sunset on the ride back, it was very memorable! -Na Pali All Day Snorkel- you guys.... come on... "All Day Snorkel"?! I was SUPER bummed because we snorkeled for a total of 30-40 minutes at one location. I was hoping we'd stop more places, and especially being during the hot day, stop ONE more place to get out and swim? But no... This was the same route we took for the sunset (which we had done two days prior) and it was almost like this was pointless since we barely swam! I would advise people to pass on this and stick to the sunset. I gave this two stars... All in all, company was great, very friendly. Shout out to Max as well, you were super awesome and nice. Kelly our captain was fantastic, along with Glen. But like I said, pass on snorkeling and stick with sunset! Snorkeling fee, in my opinion, was severely overpriced! read more

Let's start by saying I don't write reviews I read them. Now I will start to write them. We were referred to a different catamaran cruise but opted to go with Holo Holo Charters based on the reviews. We also used the Costco e-gift cards to save some $$. Our family did the 5 hour snorkel and sail tour. The crew ( Cole, Wade and David) were excellent. They explained everything thoroughly before we left for our safety and comfort. They were friendly, funny and very attentive to all our needs. The waters were a bit tough that day for us and they took great care of the people who weren't feeling well. That being said I would recommend some sort of sea sick meds. At the snorkel location we saw lots of fish and a few turtles!! David made sure he pointed out the turtles for everyone. We also saw spinner Dolphins. The views of the Napali coast are breath taking. You have to see to understand. The lunch provided was plentiful and very good. I don't eat gluten and was satisfied with the lettuce wrap sandwich that you make yourself and fruit. They did provide a pasta salad and cookies as well.The beer, wine, water and soda flowed freely. The crew was always checking to see if you needed anything. They also took pictures of the family for us. Overall, I would highly recommend this company, crew and tour. read more

After three separate trips with Holo Holo Charters, I can say with confidence that I highly recommend their services on Kauai. I've done the snorkel cruise twice - the one with the speedboat that departs from the north shore of Kauai. This one involves high speeds and so is a much less smooth ride, but allows you to see more of the Na Pali coastline and snorkel at 2-3 spots. On this most recent trip, we did the snorkel cruise - stops at one place for snorkeling, but takes a more leisurely pace (may be better for people who are prone to seasickness). On the way back there was not enough wind to sail back, so we cruised up the coastline to take a look at some other caves and waterfalls instead. We were lucky that the trip was not booked up and had most of the boat to ourselves. They are up front about the number of stops and course of each trip on their website, but if you have more specific questions, you can call and ask as they are super friendly and helpful even on the phone. In all, on these three trips, we've seen bottlenose dolphins, spinner dolphins, turtles, seals, eels, octopi, and a reef shark. It seems to me that there are fewer and fewer fish every year, though. Breakfast is pastries and coffee, lunch is sandwiches, beer is cold and free-flowing. Our most recent trip with Cole, Wade, and David was, as usual, full of great information, humor, and congeniality. Holo Holo crew members from the shop to the sea are consistently friendly, professional, and go out of their way to make sure you have a fun and safe trip. **Buy e-gift certificates on costco.com for $80 for $100. You can combine them, making your $317 trip cost only $257. Every penny counts!** They were super nice about being able to pull up the gift certificates on their system, as they understand people don't necessarily have access to printers during vacation. read more

The people are what make the experience great with Holo Holo Charters. My cousin knew an employee so she helped us out with a reservation the day before our excursion via text only. Upon checking in, we were immediately greeted by someone warm & friendly. She and my cousin ended up having mutual friends & hugs were exchanged. After being pointed to the wall to read the rules, we browsed the shop. I took one Dramamine already & they had more on the counter for sale. They also sold apparel, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, flip flops, etc. Next, we met outside with Mike and he went over the rules again, took roll call and escorted us down to the dock where our boat, the Leila, and the Captain awaited. I have never been on a boat like this before. We were all asked to leave our shoes/flip flops on the dock in a cubby hole box that rolled away for safe keeping. The Captain greeted each one of us & made jokes along the way. We were also individually greeted by Leila with her Hawaiian tongue & big, warm smile. More rules came from the Captain but they were accompanied by jokes. And one more Dramamine for me, just as a precaution. Then we sat out front, enjoyed the early morning weather, the sun shining and being out on the water in Hawaii. What could possibly trouble you? Mike, Leila and my cousin would occasionally point out some island landmarks like old mills, the military base, popular beaches great for surfing & hard to get to beaches where 4-wheel drive is absolutely necessary. As we went further down towards the Napali coastline, there were beaches you cannot get to unless you hiked to them. One thing that was really exciting for me was that we got to see a couple pods of dolphins. In the wild! There were probably about 20 in the pod. I have never experienced that before. They were doing flips and followed our boat for awhile. It was amazing. Bagels, banana bread, fruit and beverages were then provided. Our first stop was near the start of the Napali coast and we snorkeled. Leila got in the water and sat up on her surfboard to help patrol us from going to close to the rocks or too far out. She also pointed out sea turtles to us! I saw that one and then found one on my own. They're huge and shy to us humans so they'll hide when they can. The water was a bit cool but if you keep swimming and exploring, you'll stay warm. After snorkeling, wine and beer were provided, but that day, the waters were pretty rough so watch out for spillage. Then we went further north up the Napali coastline and it is absolutely breathtaking. You're one itty bitty soul on a small boat in the middle of the massive ocean and you're staring at the top of these 2500-4000 foot high natural rock formations. It is incredible. Definitely one of the most beautiful things I have seen. SO beautiful that I decided to hike to the edge of the Nualolo Valley the very next day so I can experience this coast from the bottom AND top. Bring your cameras and make sure you wrap the cord around wrist. Leila was so knowledgeable on the island, the rocks, the history, the people. You can tell she's passionate and proud of where she comes from. It is something I feel many of us don't appreciate as much as we should. We would come across the archway where many films were filmed, such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Six Days Seven Nights and the latest Bond flick where a helicopter flew under it. The Captain was daring in getting us probably 15 ft away from the rock wall to get a closer peek to the entrance of a pool that has no ceiling. People in kayaks were headed in there and too bad we couldn't go in there too. We also came across a reef and an old fishing village that the island is trying to preserve. There is a huge X scratched into the side of rock above this village and it was said that X marked the spot of the most beautiful spot on the island. We saw waterfalls, entryways to the valleys covered in untouched greenery & people in kayaks and standing up on boards powering thru the rough waters. Then it was time to turnaround and Mike and Leila get the sail going. Then it got way too rocky for me. I think I'd rather be on a moving boat with the jets going, and the double dose of Dramamine was failing me. My cousin got me another one. Will it help? Nope. I man'd up for a few miles, Leila got me a cup of ice chips to suck on. Then eventually I had to go to the back of the boat per Mike's suggestion and hang my feet off the end of the boat as I focused on a point on the hills. Lunch was served and I didn't have much of it but it sounded good! Turkey sandwiches, pasta salad, and wine going around. Ugh. I just wanted off the boat by this time. After 14+ some very long miles, we were back on land. Not rocking. Praise the Lord! Back at the ofc, a suggestion was made that I should have taken the Dramamine the night before & another one in the evening. I'll try that next time. Great staff and incredible customer service. Words of wisdom: Even if you have never been seasick in all your life, grew up around boats and the ocean, and love the water... Take a damn dramamine if you are going on this cruise in the winter months and don't want to chance your experience being totally effed. Yes, I was that girl who as soon as we rounded the point to the Napali Coast completely lost her shit and never got it back for the rest of the trip. I don't know if it was a combo of a weird breakfast, a slightly warm beer, or the rough water, but I was literally throuwing up non-stop for the last 2 hours or so of the trip. So take your dramamine, sea-bands, etc!! But, they still get 4 stars b.c the crew was sooo nice to me when I had my head stuck in a bucket and took turns standing there and taking my old bucket, giving me a new one, and rinsing out the old one, just in time to start the process all over again. Yes, it was that bad. My boyfriend loved the cruise too and made sure to tell me how great it was... gee thanks : ) I poked my head out of my bucket every so often and it was really beautiful, and I really had a great time before I got sick. The crew completely takes care of everything you need. I felt so bad for them having to take care of me, but they were great about it. When we got back they made sure I got off first too. While in Kauai we had to go see the Na Pali coast. After a little research we chose Holo Holo for a sunset boat cruise along the coast. The cost is in line with similar cruises on other lines. After a quick check in at their office you walk down to the boat. The boat is in excellent shape and has several areas to enjoy the cruise. There is seating in each of the areas as well including the front and back of the boat. Sorry, I refuse to use nautical terms. The staff was great. There were three of them for the cruise. Each of them went above and beyond to make it a fun trip. They also were quite knowledgable and could easily answer most questions. The staff started serving snacks and drinks shortly after we boarded. The snacks included crackers, meats, cheeses and few other finger foods. Right before we started back from the coast they served dinner. They served pulled pork sandwiches with a variety of sides and toppings. I would certainly recommend Holo Holo for your boat cruise. Just got back from my sunset & dinner cruise on the Holo Holo! It was amazing. The office staff, captain and crew were FANTASTIC!! First off, I get motion sickness...but they were very helpful in preparing us for it. I took one Bonine (which is way better than Dramamine btw) and felt fine the entire trip! They recommended and had plenty of the right food and drinks on board for those of us who get motion sickness. In the rainiest place on Earth, weather isn't always going to be accommodating. The staff knew this and the Captain gave us a NO PRESSURE out. We could cancel or reschedule without penalties. But thank goodness we didn't! The scenery is unlike any of my travels! A once in a lifetime experience. Seriously. We saw a mother and calf whale (even out of season!), caves, waterfalls with rainbows, beautiful aquamarine water, turtles, and a beautiful sunset...even though it was overcast! The Captain was funny and informative about the history and current info of The coast. LOTS of suggestions on what to do and the smartest ways to do it. Put everyone at ease before the cruise. (I literally saw shoulders relax!) The crew were so helpful. All our needs were taken care of to a T, and anticipated before people got cranky. Never felt neglected or like a cow in a big flock. Wow! These guys know hospitality! Drinks were always available and never stingy (both with and without alcohol). Who doesn't love an open bar!? The food was good and plentiful. Lots of people went back for seconds! It was a spinach and cheese lasagna, salad, warm rolls, and fresh cut veggies. I don't feel comfortable on the open water at all, but in Holo Holo's capable hands I felt safe enough to relax and have a blast! Ha!! Imagine that! I only agreed to go because a friend wanted to, but man am I glad I did!! Thank you Holo Holo for an unforgettable experience! We all came off the boat saying, "This was SO worth it!" (just under $120) It was a 5 hour cruise of the Na Pali Coast...the side of the island you can only get to with a day long, advanced hike or by boat. It was really beautiful...the waterfalls, caves, ridges.. On the way we had dolphins alongside the boat...they were so adorable, doing jumps and twirls. It also offered a closer look at the "forbidden island", Ni'ihau. Apparently, they're the only charter who travels there, but you have to do the 6am tour. The check-in office was pretty nice. They had all your last minute things like sunblock, glasses, hats, under-water cameras and most importantly--dramamine chewable tablets (phew!). And boy did you need sunblock! Actually more like a big flowy hat and a windbreaker. The hat because even multiple applications of sunblock didn't save me. And the jacket because even though it's warm on the land, it gets pretty chilly at higher speeds on the ocean. I'd recommend skipping breakfast because 10 mins. on the ocean and there's coffee, tea, juice, water, fresh fruit, sweet breads, bagels and cream cheese served! Then later, after the snorkel, it's lunch and booze! I was pretty impressed at the spread since I had visions of bologna and mayo on white bread :-\ Instead, I got wheat bread, with my choice of meats, cheeses and veggies. Pair that with some pasta salad and a cold beer and it was a perfect cruise back to land. The other big plus was the crew: Capt. Amy along with Jenny and Jeff. Jeff Irons by far stole the show. He was a great story teller the whole trip and the perfect island adviser. He was born and grew up on the island and will stay 'til the end, so see him for your Kauai questions. The only disappointing part was the 30 mins. of snorkeling. Compared to beaches and bays we visited around the island with TONS of fish everywhere, the spot they took us too was barren. read more

The Holo Holo Charters Niihau and Na'Pali Super Tour was Breathtaking! Here's the run down. We started the tour off at 6:30 a.m. and got to know Captain Drew and the crew. The boat was a catamaran built special to tour Kauai and cross the channel to the Forbidden Island of Niihau. There was tons of space on the boat to move about and enjoy the views. Also, we loved that Holo Holo Charters was super considerate of the reefs and environment and provided everyone onboard with eco/reef friendly sunscreen! Be sure to take your dramamine or motion sickness medicine the night before and in the morning, to ensure that you have the best time! Holo Holo Charters also provided ginger drops and ginger ale to help everyone not get sea sick and keep having a great time. The tour started with a delicious breakfast with fruit, cinnamon rolls, and croissants as we crossed the channel to Niihau. As we watched the Kauai island disappear we got closer to the island of Niihau. This island is private and inhabited by Hawaiian islanders preserving the Hawaiian culture and language. Captain Drew anchored the boat at the mouth of an amazing island cave where we had one hour to snorkel. This place was the perfect snorkel spot with tons of fish, sea turtles, and even a curious monk seal that we got to swim with. The visibility was around 70-100 feet which made for some excellent snorkeling. HUGE PLUS, if you are not a strong swimmer, the crew brings pool noodles for you to float on while snorkeling, and of course masks, snorkels, fins, and mask defogger were provided! Another thing that we appreciated was the crew member Kama was patrolling on his paddle board making sure everyone was staying far enough away from the rocks and out of harms way. Once you were finished snorkeling, the bar was opened and beverages including beer and wine were served. The way back across the channel was bound to be a little choppy, but Captain Drew had the most perfect play list to get everybody singing and laughing while we got splashed by the waves. This was honestly one of the best parts of the trip. If you didn't want to get wet, you had the option to stay inside the cabin. The crew was amazing and they helped anybody that needed a hand while walking and they showed off their sea legs. Once we crossed the channel we headed up the Na'Pali Coast as we ate lunch...which was delicious. Sandwiches, with tons of meats, cheeses, and veggies...including sprouts and hummus. Also, there was pasta salad and cookies. We quickly ate lunch and enjoyed the scenic views of the Na'Pali coast on the front of the boat. This coast will give you the chills. There is nothing quite like the Na'Pali Coast and you will regret not seeing it from the sea. No picture can do it justice, you just have to see it with your own eyes. While we were traveling up the coast we saw a pod of Spinner Dolphins which made the coast even more magical. Once we reached the top of the Na'Pali Coastline, we got closer to the shore, slowed down and started heading back past the Na'Pali Coast, cause the only thing better than seeing the Na'Pali Coast is seeing it twice. Words can't explain how amazing it was. If you don't do anything else in Kauai, make sure to visit the Na'Pali Coast. This tour was a 10 out of 10 and everything we could have hoped it to be. The guides were uber friendly and treated us like family. The boat ride was very entertaining and the sights were unreal. When visiting Kauai you have to take a boat to the Na'Pali Coast, Holo Holo Charters is highly recommended! read more

This is my story...in 2009 I booked the Napali Dinner/Sunset Cruise, but caught the H1N1 on the flight over to Kauai (someone hacked on me) so I ended up canceling as I didn't want to "contaminate' anyone and I wasn't in the best shape. In 2011, I was determined to take this cruise, but instead of me canceling...it was Holo Holo that canceled. It was no fault of theirs...it was the day after the tsunami hit. So, it's 2012 and I've returned AGAIN for the EXACT SAME TOUR!!! I believe 3rd times a charm. Wonderful sail and super calm waters! After all these years, I FINALLY got to see it..so THANK YOU!!! PROS- Great service Great food Beautiful scenery All you can drink alcohol CONS- 1. Can be a bit rough on the ride back (my ride was hardly that but was told it's b/c we had unusual calm weather conditions)-Take your drugs 2. Can be a bit chilly towards the end-Bring a light jacket...preferably something you don't mind getting wet TIPS- Don't be fooled by the calm waters to the Napali Coast and load up on alcohol...b/c your return trip WILL BE BUMPY. PEOPLE!!!! TIP THE CREW!!!! I don't understand why people don't tip adventure crew. They ensure you are safe, happy, taken care of...& yet...everyone walks off not tipping. They don't expect it...but still! Come on! Chicks were yakkin' overboard the whole time, everyone demanding food & drinks from the crew...Wade & Dave hustling to keep up...& only TWO COUPLES (us being 1) tipped them. They are in the hospitality/customer service industry...TAKE CARE OF THEM!!!! & if you are an international tourist & your country doesn't tip...YOU'RE IN AMERICA...WE TIP! When in Rome.... oh, & TAKE A DAMN DRAMAMINE if you get seasick!!! 24 hrs before, then another or 1/2 of one at LEAST 1 Hour BEFORE boat ride. If in doubt...TAKE A PILL!!! Ok, off my soap box, onto my review Service: 100/5. 100 out of 5? How? Well here's how: Captain Kelly, & crew Wade & Dave were awesome! Kelly ensured we had as smooth a ride as possible even though it was rough day out, unfurling the sails so we could take advantage of the wind..& quiet of the sails. Soooo fun..& they even added the cheesy sailing songs: Christopher Cross' 'Sailing' & 'Ride Like the Wind' to name a few! Kelly brought us right up to & under the freshwater falls, took us to a great snorkel spot...was a lot of fun to talk to as well. Wade & Dave: ADORABLE! Was scoping them out for my 21 yr old daughter but seriously...great guys! Knowledgeable...gave us all info on each section of the Napali coast, ran their butts around getting beers for everyone, leading the sick people to the back of the boat, cleaning up trash, getting the sails up, redirecting wayward snorkelers, diving to tie/untie boat during snorkel, they worked HARD...but were always willing to help anyone out & super friendly! Trip itself: 4/5. NOT because of crew..just not great snorkel conditions nor enough opportunities to snorkel. We only snorkeled once..viz was 20'. But had a lot of surge & rough waters. Saw a honu, usual trigger & parrot fish, humuhumus, etc. We thought we'd have more opportunities to snorkel...it was more of a coast than snorkel tour. That was a bummer. But the 50' Cat ride was fun...it's a clean, smooth ride compared to a regular hull boat. Less bounce on chop. Overall: great company. The check in ladies were friendly; the crew: awesome! -The trip: fun. It IS choppy/rough so plan ahead. -Could get rain...WILL get wet no matter what...you're On A Boat. -Could get seasick: take a pill if you are prone to motion sickness. **I give up trying to find the perfect 300th review! It'll have to be the starting point for my Kauai reviews!** When my boyfriend and I decided to do Kauai for Memorial weekend 2011, I began obsessing over which Napali boat tour we were going to go on. I must have had 10 yelp tabs open! Holo Holo Charters obviously beat out the others, but because we thought we would get more time on Nihau Island. Nonetheless, Holo Holo provided excellent service for their Napali Super Tour (includes boating along Nihau Island). The staff was great; they were constantly (but not obtrusively) offering to take pictures and giving advice/stories with the guests. The captain down to earth and entertaining. We were also lucky to have had such a small group on the boat (half of the capacity!) Gave us a lot of room to relax and stretch out and possibly the reason for the more personal attention we got from the staff. Food selection was above expectations and buffet style. For breakfast there was various breads, pastries and drinks. Lunch included French style rolls, regular sliced bread, accompanied with lots of various lunch meats, veggies, and dip, fruit, soda and BEER (for the alcoholic in me). Along the ride were able to see some turtles and a lot of dolphins. The captain was also able to get the boat into one of the caves. Got up close to the keyhole. Snorkeling looked like it would have been fun (but I opted out for other reasons). The ride back from Nihau was a bit rough, but again the staff was excellent in aiding the guests. For those prone to seasickness, I would definitely think twice before booking. I have a pretty iron stomach, but even the ride got me a little queasy. Dramamine might help, but the captain did warn over medicating might detract from your experience. Otherwise, expect great service from the staff and have a great time! When I return home, I schedule something fun for me and my brother to do; something we never got to do growing up on Kauai, since we were dirt poor. This last visit, since I was bringing my BF to visit, I decided we should do a Na Pali Coast tour since none of us had ever seen Kauai's Na Pali Coast. An internet search brought up Holo Holo Charters and they had the best price for a sunset dinner cruise. The cruise was fabulous, the food was decent, the drinks were wonderful, and the workers were friendly and courteous. We were fortunate to not be bothered by motion sickness, and the BF spent most of the cruise at the very front of the boat (it brought him back to his Navy time on the seas). We were also more fortunate, that while others did get motion sickness, no one threw up on our cruise. Next trip back home with the BF in tow, we will bite the bullet and get up extra early to take the morning cruise so we can snorkel and swim read more

Did the Napali/Niihau Super Tour on a Saturday, meeting at 0600. We had an awesome crew with Captain Drew and Jess and Ahren really worked hard at making sure everyone had what they needed. Served breakfast and lunch on the boat. We got to see a pod of over 100 spinner dolphins on the way out and Drew slowed down and took some time so we could all see them swimming and jumping all around the boat. Drew also took some time to show us caves and pulled almost inside one so we had a good view. When we dropped anchor to snorkel a big sea turtle swam by the boat. Snorkeling for about an hour and if you were still hungry food was available and drinks beer and wine on the way back. I would highly recommend this tour! read more

My husband and I went on their 5-hr morning Na Pali tour on their Leila boat. We booked it through Pleasant Holidays and we paid about $150 each. Continental breakfast was included. Water, sodas, juice drinks and alcoholic beverages were also provided. Deli lunch was also included in the price. Check in was at 8am, and we got going around 8:45 or so. First we stopped somewhere for snorkeling. Though we didn't snorkel, I heard it was an OK snorkeling experience from others No big wows, but most of the saw fish and stuff. The water was so clear though that I was able to see fish in the water from the deck. Also we saw sea turtles bopping their heads out of the waves so that was totally fun for us. We also saw dolphins and the captain stopped the boat twice for us so we could observe the dolphins longer and to take pics and stuff. That was totally fun and the dolphins were jumping out of the water and doing their lil twisty tricks on their own. It was really a blast. The staff and the captain were just absolutely fabulous. THey were friendly and knowledgeable and told us all kind of stuff about the animals and the beaches we saw. We had a great ride today and it was smooth sailing all the way. There wasn't much wind, so we never did raise the sail. But that was alright by me as long as the boat ride was smooth. The boat was clean and well kept, and the party was only about 18 people which was perfect. Though I hear they could take up to 34.. I dont think the experience would have been as great if there were 34 passengers. I think the 5 hour tour was well worth the money. We both agreed we would do this again, and may even search out their tours on other islands in the future. read more

First dinner cruise we did and it was amazing. The views if the Napali cost were breath taking and a must see if you are in Kauai. Not only were the view beautiful but the Captain and his crew were excellent. The crew members commentary was very informative. The crew members were very attentive to your needs from getting you drinks, helping you move around the boat and getting food ready. They even provided some comic relief. Our family enjoyed this cruise very much and recommend it to everyone. read more

The day trip to the Forbidden Island Niihau was AMAZING. The staff (Especially Matt) were awesome, funny and overly concerned with making certain we were having a blast. Our charter actually had two photographers or scientists that needed to be dropped off on the MUCH smaller island adjacent to Niihau called Lehua Rock. We snorkeled at a place called "Vertical Awareness" on the backside of Lehua Rock... words cannot describe how amazing of a snorkel place it is so just Google it. Thankfully I brought my gopro because not only did we get to see tons of Spinner Dolphins, but while snorkeling there were at least 3 sea lions that kept coming up from over the edge of Vertical Awareness and swam/played with the snorkelers. My gopro on the end of a 40" long monopod got within about 1 foot of one that came up to me. An experience I will NEVER EVER forget. This is an absolute MUST DO when you are in Kauai.
