When we arrived at the store, the initial experience was normal and professional with the First Lady that greeted us.(Unfortunately, I can't remember her name; she was professional.) I needed my 1ct platinum engagement ring, 1ct platinum wedding band, and a gold bracelet repaired. We received a cost estimate for repair, and we agreed on the repairs. We got a receipt with the jewelry breakdown, and I noticed that the engagement ring had no GIA serial number listed; my diamond is GIA certified . So I asked for the GIA serial number to be listed on the receipt for security on both my end and the store's end. Michelle proceeded to involve herself when I asked the store associate to please include the diamond GIA inscription number. Michelle asked me why I needed that included and got offended that I even asked and proceeded to tell me that they are a reputable company for over 20 years. I told her I just need it so when I pick up my ring, I'm certain it's the same one I dropped off. (This should be standard in all jewelry stores.) She then grabbed my ring and dropped it and became very aggravated with me. She claimed she couldn't even see the inscription because it was small. Her brother, Chris, told her what loop magnification to use, and she told me to look at it myself, and they would write it. Michelle, I can't believe you have been in business for 20 years and you don't know how to use a basic loop. Shame. I was made to feel like my 1ct was insignificant and small to see the inscription. After that bad experience paired with Michelle's attitude , I requested to cancel the repair. Michelle asked me why I felt like I needed to cancel only because of the inscription. I said it was for my comfort, and I no longer felt comfortable. I received all my jewelry back and left the store. I feel like it's important to post about my experience in this establishment because I still don't understand what I did wrong to be treated differently. Microscopic verification is a must. I should not have to request this!!! Michelle needs to look deep within herself and ask herself why she felt the need to treat a customer the way she treated me today. Came in one afternoon to get a necklace fixed. My 2 year old broke the bail connecting the pendant to it, which is either a quick repair or replacement of the bail. This isn't the first time my son has done this, and I typically wait 30min at most while a jeweler fixes it for ~$20. No big deal. Nobody was out front despite there being tools and jewelry sitting on the counter, but I heard a guy in the back on the phone with someone so I waited it out. 15min later, this guy was still on the phone loudly cursing and reliving his glory days in the 60's. Tried yelling to get his attention to no avail, so eventually just banged one of the instruments strewn on the counter on a piece of metal to get him out there. I had my wife and kids waiting in the car and thus couldn't afford to wait and listen any longer. Keep in mind I am in a jewelry store by myself with merchandise sitting on the counter (LOL). Explained what I needed, and upon reply the jeweler clearly didn't listen to a damned thing I said. First he wanted me to leave it with no explanation, then he talked about going somewhere special to get a new bail, and then talked through how complicated this very simple task was and hard it would be to fix. He then asked me if I wanted to spend $50. My answer was of course no, seeing as the whole necklace cost ~$100 and that would've be 2x what I've ever paid. His response then was to push me back the necklace and say that he "couldn't do anything for less than $50". $50 for what exactly, getting off his butt? Because he wanted to try and gouge for probably one of the simplest things you could ask a jeweler to do? Fuck that. He was incredulous. If you can't handle simple things like this, why would I ever spend real money with you? What a pompous, out of touch and stupid response. Not sure if I dealt with an owner or not, but who ever it was needs to retire if he can't handle simple customer requests in between talking to his 'friends'.

However, he reassured me that if there were any problems at all, they would take care of any costs. After speaking with them today, they claimed they never made such a promise. Additionally, when they made it clear that they wanted the ring before sending another one, I offered to meet them at the Dulles Expo Center for their next appearance at the jewelry show in order to exchange rings. At that point, Curtis Lewis said to me, "Let me put it this way, I am not going to let you spend my money. Until I know that your ring is in re-sale condition, I am not ordering another one. You can bring it to the show, but if I don't have it in stock, I will have send it to you- But I am not ordering it advance. That is the best I can do."
