I originally found Kristen after losing confidence in my previous attorney. After the free consultation with Kristen, I hired her and have been happy with my decision ever since. I counted on this firm during recent custody issues, and it was a total waste of my money. Lots of big talk, no results. They even have a subdivision called "Custody Queens" with advertisements on social media and a weekly radio show. Yes - social media and a radio show -- for a "professional law firm". They doll themselves up and present a pristine image. I just wish they spent as much attention on serving their client needs and/ or writing acceptable court documents as they did on hair, make-up and nice social media posts. After spending tens of thousands of dollars in fees with this firm, they've now ghosted me and have blocked me on social media (specifically Instagram). The reason: because I left the following honest feedback. This is what has happened over the last couple years: Family Law is a cluster-bomb to begin with, but I thought I finally had hope when I engaged with them. NOPE! Yeah, Family Law is tough for attorneys. And as we all know, and I wish they kept in mind, divorce and custody matters are VERY DIFFICULT and often times traumatic for the people involved - especially our children! Here are the key highlights of my experience with this firm: * My attorney bailed on me less than 24 hours before a HUGE important hearing * This caused a 15 month delay in my case! (The pandemic was not their fault, but bailing just before the hearing absolutely was) * This resulted in my "X" continuing to collect unjustified support payments (which the attorney couldn't negotiate down, or even try?) * They advised me to drop contempt charges for my "X" breaking court order - this further enabled and embolden X's horrific behavior * COUP DE GRAS - they wrote up and submitted a court order, "Stipulated Agreement," that I quickly found out was UNENFORCEABLE! I'm now out tens of thousands of dollars in fees to them, and had NEGATIVE progress in my case - because of them. In the past I actually made MUCH more progress mulling through on my own. Now due to my engagement (and the gobs of $$$ paid in fees) with this firm, my "X's" behavior is emboldened and things are worse than they ever have been. If I could put half a star, I would. This firm is extremely expensive and not practical. There is no personal touch or concern for the value of the families needs through this difficult time. Through my experience and 14k later, the results I achieved could have been solely done by myself without their help/lack of help! They work with groups of attorneys within their firm. This could be good and bad. My experience was bad. I rarely received call backs within a timely manner (48 hours) I didn't receive notice when they were having another attorney from the firm assist. I urge those who are looking to seek counsel or help in any family law matter to interview several family law attorneys, check with family law facilitators, and research on your own how to file and what to file. So many resources that consume your time and not your money. Btw: after I exhausted all my financial resources, I obviously choose to represent myself. I had been struggling with my divorce and custody battle for several year with a diffrent attourney and nothing being acomplished except my money being spent. I had not even been infront of a judge. Do you want to get ripped off? Then this is the place for you. Awful experience. Went in for some legal assistance with ​child custody and was set up with Ms. Ruegg for an upcoming case. At first,​ it seemed like a dream come true as Ms. Ruegg came off as smart, understanding and most importantly, willing to do everything in her power to get us what we have been fighting to get for ​9 years. We were told the cost of having legal assistance provided and we, in turn,​ informed them that we could do, at most $6,000. We were then told that that should be enough given the fact that we had to subpoena​ a couple of​ witnesses and that would probably add on to the cost. This we were fine with. I deliberately​ kept all emails and calls to a minimum as I knew that this would cause my bill to go up and diminish​ my retainer. I only used some in a 30-minute​ phone meeting with Ms. Ruegg as she told me she wanted to get me prepared for mediation. Before the court date arrived, I was given a bill that said I used around $900. This was good as I would have $5100 left for the appropriate​ papers to be filed and subpoenas​ to be processed. On March 27th, our court date arrived and we were set to go​ when we got word that the judge overseeing​ the case was out due to being sick and there had been another judge in her place. After about 3.5 hours later of watching our lawyer,​ buddy it up with the opposing lawyer and occasionally having her talk to us to tell us that she was just putting on a show in front of him to make herself seem friendly and that he was a complete jerk, our lawyer told us that she was going to file a continuation. When asked why​, she told us that there was no way that we would be able to get what we were asking because the new judge was "old school" and didn't hear cases fully. We agreed, assuming​ she knew what was best, but in actuality, she never gave us the option of continuing before she rushed downstairs to fill out the paperwork. Had she given us the option and told us "if you continue, it'll be an extra charge." we wouldn't have and would've tried our hand with the judge at the time. We had this case in our hands due to one of the witnesses blatantly​ not showing up and substantial​ evidence against the defendant and her current husband but our lawyer took the easy way out. After the court case, our lawyer talked to us and we​ asked her to write up a settlement and present it to the defendant and her lawyer, which never happened. We were then emailed about two weeks after the March hearing stating that if we wanted to continue with assistance​, we'd have to pay an additional $6,000. We weren't able to do this, but did ask if there was some sort of payment plan with the fact that we were so deep into the case and still had a trial to attend. They refused and said they don't do payment plans on active cases. Well we eventually went back to court, only to be told that the current custody order would stay as is. Again, if you want to blow 6,000 and have someone do absolutely nothing for you other than show up to court and duck out because they were most likely unprepared, check out this fine place. read more

Beware! Just another shady law firm that will drag your case out for YEARS just to pay for their fancy offices. The owner will do a huge song and dance about how he'll do such a great job at representing you and then pass you off to one of their subpar attorneys. The staff is beyond incompetent. I've never seen so many obvious typographical errors in my life. The paralegals can barely write a coherent letter. Dates mixed up, names of clients mixed up, incorrect birthdates, wrong addresses; the list goes on and on...regardless of how often you try and correct them. This office had a hard time getting much of anything correct. They will lie, they will discriminate and grossly overcharge you for all of it. read more
