I gave this place several chances, but my most recent visit will be my last. The chicken sandwiches are disappointingly small and nowhere near substantial enough to qualify as a full meal. On my second visit, the chicken was extremely dry, with barely any coleslaw or honey sauce. We also ordered the tater tots, which were clearly not fresh--they were soggy and stuck together in clumps. To make matters worse, the restaurant was nearly empty during both dinner visits (around 5:30-7:00 pm), with no cars in the lot and very few patrons inside. I'm not sure where the hype about "high-volume clientele" comes from, because the lack of business makes it impossible to blame the poor quality on being too busy. read more

SOLID chicken joint. Fast food meets restaurant in a "stick to your ribs" meal. Hubby and I came in here for a quick lunch and were surprised when we walked in. Immediately greeting by friendly staff and seated at a table near the window. They did a REALLY nice job concealing this used-to-be BK to make it something all their own. Well done. We both had the Chickmate Nashville sandwiches. He got hot with fries, and I got the mild with tots. Both were perfectly cooked and the perfect lunch portion (we were FULL). Glad to see this place finally open and thriving. It's really wild how aggressive the townies were/are on the owner, someone opening an establishment that does offer what other places in the area have but at a higher quality. God forbid theres a wait or the staff are a little laxed (this is a chicken and pizza joint in Franklin, NJ not a 3 star michelin restaurant in NYC). The owner clearly put a lot of thought and money into the interior which should be refreshing for the majority of folks here who dine IN at McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts - good lord. My wife had the chicken tenders and enjoyed them. I am a pizza guy and it was refreshing to find a nice Detroit style pizza which you don't find too much of around here as most places just offer greasy cheese slop flavorless dough circles. I got the detroit option twice and the second time it was a little overcooked but I'm not judging this in comparison with the pizza that I've consumed around the world, this is going against what's around. Now regarding their "Neapolitan" style pies, this was the factor that kept me from going for five stars. Don't get me wrong, the Margherita was tasty and edible but a proper Neapolitan pizza is light and fluffy, almost delicate. Just google it and notice the crust is like a gently charred pillow of mouthwatering goodness. I take pride in my obsession of true Neapolitan style so I am judging it on my worldly experiences and this did not make the cut. I came all the way from Texas to try Holy Chick on a recommendation from my sons and six year old granddaughter. The interior is so cool. The food was excellent from the starters to the chicken and the Detroit pizza. The Banana Pudding is epic. The staff is warm and friendly. Brigid, our server, was outstanding. Remarkable experience overall! Came here yesterday with my mom, the owner personally greeted us at the door, service was fantastic & all staff members were very attentive and welcoming! The food was exceptional, the chicken was seasoned to perfection, the fries had just the right amount of salt, and not to mention the incredibly quick service. As for the interior & general ambience, I found the lighting unique, it's a nice touch to the overall aesthetic. Not to mention, the seating was very comfortable, and the tables were spotless. There's also plenty of entertainment options, such as many large TV screens & a small arcade in the back! The prices were reasonable, and pretty low when compared to other restaurants in the area. I can only give it 2 stars. Ordered just a couple tenders on bread to try and get a solid feel on what the hot chicken was like. Pretty disappointed chickens were small taste was alright but had 1 that was the size of a chicken fry. I'm surprised of the quality control and that tender even being allowed to leave the store. Really the tenders don't hold a candle in comparison to Dave's hot chicken. Bone in chicken wings were decent had good flavor. An added size of Cole slaw was 3.50 and given in a dipping cup. Turns out they do not have the correct size cups to selling sides of Cole slaw. In my opinion shouldn't be available then. I was excited to try because it was local and the buzz it seemed to have but was unfortunately disappointed. I will give it another shot in a few months maybe see if any improvements were made. read more

I tend to order the chicken fingers, and a side of fries. I am surprised with the price for the portion, you don't get many tenders and its pretty expensive. But the quality of the food has always been fresh and seasoned with love so I cant really complain. I just wish you could get more without the price increasing as much as it does. The workers seem to be trained well and actually care about your needs. & I love the interior with the modern, retro vibes throughout. They definitely took there time on this for a reason, I'm sure the menu will continue to expand as the months go on. I have yet to try the pizza but have only heard good things about them! read more

Finally got here for lunch with my wife. First- let me say this: the Chicago style pizza (or.. Detroit... I dunno) is served NOT in slices, but in "strips." The menu, therefore. Was confusing since I associated "strips" with chicken, not with pizza. Once you get passed the strip-slice naming convention- things suddenly become much easier to understand! As their hours have recently changed- now open til 11 on Friday and Saturday nights and opening at 11am for lunch- anything that they sold out of on Friday night, obviously, will remain sold-out at lunchtime on Saturday (Captain obvious, to the rescue!) So- while I was owlishly staring at the menu trying to figure out the whole "strip-slice" thing, our waiter informed us that we weren't going to order the 4-strip pizza flight OR order any bone-in wings. Menu challenges aside, our order came... pizza was hand-tossed and quite tasty...maybe a bit too heavy on the red sauce and not quite enough cheese... but very good, nonetheless. My chicken sammich was very good-eat your heart out, Chik Fila... fabulous juicy crusty chicken fingers, soft and tasty roll with pickles. I asked for the sauce on the side and, frankly, wish that I'd asked for mayo. The service was good. OUr waiter (John? Going gray just like me...) was great. He clearly had a bunch of tables and he was juggling them well. Very friendly, gave us some good suggestions, and knew his menu very well. Taking off 1 star for being sold out of stuff on the weekend. They've been open long enough to understand quantity forecasting. Other than that? With a little time, this place will be fabulous! To the owner: Please, please, don't make the "Franklin mistake" like so many other great and promising places: DON'T put a bar in. It may sound like a great money-maker, but you will lose your eating customers to gain drunks. The food was terrific. I had the Greek salad which was super fresh with very tasty dressing. I also had tater tots with bacon and cheese. Very crispy and yummy 10 out of 10. The service was great. Devin was my server and he was super nice and helpful. His Mom Sharon is the hostess, always smiling and friendly. Lee is the owner and is very attentive and kind. Everyone gives the restaurant a family feel. It's absolutely beautiful inside and very comfortable. There are multiple tvs for the classy sports bar feel that I love. OK.....The only time I ever mention bathrooms is for wheelchair accessibility issues but this time I'm mentioning it in a positive way for the lighting. Called to place a pickup order was told no pick up orders until after 6 pm but I could order to go in the restaurant. Decided to go in and ordered a pizza flight. Bread was fresh and soft really enjoyed the pizzas. 4 stars because of the lack of phone ordering options as going to the restaurant ordering and waiting takes alot more time. Ok, had to try this place since it's been hyped up for about a year. Let me first start by saying that they did a really nice job in the renovation. The food was good but nothing fantastic. Chicken tenders were rather small and pizza lacked significant toppings. I was hoping for some fresh cut fries but unfortunately they have "Ore- Ida like" crinkle fries ... disappointing. Had a great experience! Took my brother here for dinner for his birthday. The restaurant has a very relaxed and welcoming vibe, and the staff is nothing but friendly! Our server in particular, Kelly, was wonderful :)! The food itself was delicious, and we hope to be back soon! However, the wait times were a bit much. I got my chicken sandwich almost a full 15-20 minutes before my brother got his food. The kitchen and server staff seem to be quite overwhelmed, maybe understaffed? Couldn't wait to try Holy Chick, my husband and I were there at 4pm when they opened. Antonella, our server was very attentive and sweet, but the food left alot to be desired. My husband's food was barely lukewarm, my pizza didn't come until after he had finished eating his dinner and Antonella said they forgot to put the mushrooms on my pizza so they put them on top and they were all burned. Considering the fact that they were by no means packed with customers I think the kitchen staff needs to do alot better. Maybe try asking yourself if what you're sending out to a customer to eat is something you would pay for to eat. I did ask why my husband had his dinner and I didn't and a young man told me that the chicken always comes out first then the pizza, yet 2 tables around us had their chicken sandwiches and pizza's brought out at the same time. read more
