I went for lunch on a Saturday and can say the place was nice. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and felt welcomed. Since I was alone, I sat at the counter and had a nice conversation with the waitress. She was also very friendly and courteous. Turns out it was her 2nd day on the job But she was great. The food was ok, not great but not bad. I had a chicken cheesesteak. The bread was lacking, but the chicken was pretty good. I chose regular fries over the sweet potato and seasoned curly fries. They were good and got. The prices were very reasonable so I didn't expect a gourmet experience but didn't feel like a let down either. Overall, I enjoyed my time there and would go back if I find myself in the area. read more

Excellent new addition to Vernon!!! I finally made it a point to drop in to Birdie's for breakfast and I am absolutely adding this place to my list. This spot used to be the old Mixing Bowl and got a total refresh. Ample seating and cute decor, perfect for breakfast, lunch or an early dinner (they close at 8pm). The menu is out of this world! Something for everyone, at any time. I couldn't fit a milkshake or dessert in this time, but boy oh boy do they have some mouthwatering options. I opted for the tomato & egg breakfast special and my date got the sampler. Both selections were HUGE and I had plenty to take home (I'm actually eating my leftovers as I pen this review lol). Sophia our waitress was lovely and on point with the service. Awesome food, affordable prices, fast service, and up beat ambience with outdoor seating- it doesn't get any better. Ok, my husband and I saw this place driving by one day and decided we should try it. The parking lot was full. It had great reviews on Google and yelp so went in...it was not great or even good. Place has bubbles in the walls like they are going to cave in. Pictures don't even sit flat. Its so weird. The service was terrible, our server didn't listen to a word when we ordered our food!! When the food came it was wrong!! Not that I was shocked but it still ticked me off. The omelet I ordered was over cooked and tasted like rubber!! The "home fries" on their menu is shredded hash browns!! Totally disappointed because home fries are so much better. I moved from Florida to New Jersey and other than pizza and bagels food here sucks!! I just want a good breakfast here and I can't find any! Diners are gross too!! I will forever be cooking my own food or being disappointed! Save yourself the money and don't try this place. read more

This was my first time trying this restaurant. I was heading to a friend's house nearby and we decided on this place. I ordered an hour ahead of time and told them the time of pickup. When I got there, the food was not even close to being ready and I had to wait an additional 20 minutes. It was almost as if they completely forgot to make my order. The person at the front was not really efficient and didn't communicate well. I would have thought an hour was PLENTY OF TIME to make 3 uncomplicated sandwiches and one of them being a breakfast sandwich. They probably literally made it while I was sitting there. It was a cute cafe, and the food was good, but I was extremely disappointed with the service and communication especially since I have them an hour. The person behind the counter didn't even offer a dessert or anything as a little compensation for the inconvenience. read more

Sometimes you are okay with paying resort prices. Sometimes you're in the mood for something else. This is it. The food was great and super close to where we stayed. It's been so hard to find a place to eat where I actually enjoy the atmosphere and food I'm sussex county . This place blew my mind, I absolutely love birdies ! Keep good wait staff here please !!!! I've been a waitress for many years and can tell the good from bad . If there's a troublesome staff member it deters me from eating there . I've left Many times in this area from a certain obnoxious waitress that hops around at all the diners . But listen this place is amazing . Love love love them ! read more

My first two visits to Birdies with my wife went well. The food was good and reasonably priced and the service was friendly and attentive. Our third visit, however, was very disappointing. My wife ordered the Rueben, but without the sauerkraut, and I ordered the meatloaf dinner. The rueben came as a hot open sandwich and was loaded with sauerkraut with very little meat. My meatloaf dinner came with three large slices of meatloaf that for some reason looked like they had been fried. The third piece was burnt and was inedible. When we told the waitress about the unwanted sauerkraut she said she didn't remember being told to hold it. She had no excuse, however, for the burnt meatloaf. To her credit she offered us a credit on our meals or two free desserts from the display case as compensation. I chose the Napoleon and blueberry cheese cake. I told her we would take them home with us. When we got home we were disappointed again - the Napoleon was stale and tasteless as was the cheesecake, as if they had been in the display case much too long. I threw both in the garbage. I should have taken the meal credit. On the plus side my daughter enjoyed her chopped turkey sandwich. Overall though a disappointing third visit. I hope this is not a harbinger of bad things ahead. read more

Nice big parking lot. The wait staff are pleasant and service was acceptable. We have never been served an entree with meat in a large bowl! That is how we serve our pets. Serving an entree in a large bowl may make it easier for the dish washer but not for the customer that has to cut their meat. While we've been served pasta al dente, we've never been served severely undercooked practically raw pasta. There was no rush and the restaurant had only one other table of diners so there's no excuse. The menu states the meal includes Garlic Bread, not garlic crackers. What happened to italian bread toasted with garlic and butter? The very thin sliver of cake cost $7.00 which is not a problem, however, it was stale and could not be eaten. As frequent restaurant diners we will be driving by this restaurant in the future. read more
