Holy Cross Cemetery is like a park for those who rest. Beautiful grounds and gorgeous views. No better place to spend eternity. George Vreeland Hill

Holy Cross Cemetery is a well-manicured Catholic cemetery located in Culver City, California. It is the resting place of many Catholic entertainers from Hollywood's Golden Age, with many prominent burials being situated near the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto area. In addition to beautiful statuary art throughout the grounds, it is also home to a stunning mausoleum.

Most incompetent staff!!! Do not bury your loved ones here. Please save the trouble and go somewhere else.

Ask the Community - Holy Cross Mortuary

Has anyone brought music to the cemetery n been stopped? I didn't know we couldn't. I've seen ppl having music n they weren't never stopped. I was planning to get a spot here but I think if I die I want music that day. Why other cemeteries do allow?

I attended a funeral at Resurrection Cemetery in Montebello, a Mariachi played at the funeral mass and also at the internment.

We selected this funeral home for our mother as she was under hospice care at our home in Gardena, so proximity was important as we hoped for a fairly swift process for picking her up upon passing. This was not the case, nor was the wait time accurately communicated. With young children in the home, it was very important to us that we were able to gauge this transition process and their miscommunication made it very hard. Their handling post-mortem seemed good. Their communication during the planning process was not the best, but manageable. Their process for hand-offs and coverage when someone is out was also challenging. As we approached the funeral date, we had questions about the services, her clothing delivery, etc. which I would have expected our primary contact person would have preemptively discussed with us, however we had to proactively reach out, leave messages, follow up, and finally was connected to someone able to assist. Their handling of our requests for special traditional dressing was handled with excellence and care! I cannot thank them enough for this. My mother looked so beautiful due to their team's execution of our wishes. The staff assigned during the both services were extremely helpful and caring. Their AV equipment is challenging to work with. While I was given options for the video montage, I had to meet with the director several hours before our service to troubleshoot it would project properly and the audio came through as expected. This took several tries and ultimately the options offered were not used. We connected my laptop to the system and projected from there. As mentioned, while we had a favorable experience for some aspects of this process, I would hope Lighthouse strongly works to improve certain areas of their service delivery considering this is a very difficult and vulnerable period for most people.

The First Lady had no sympathy for my close friends family she tried to charge us $135 a day for extending it past the week. During the funeral service she rushed through the entire thing. She forced us to wear masks before we entered the church and pushed the family away during the viewing. She showed no remorse for the family and it was very disgusting to see how she talked to everyone. As stated in a different review, they just referred to my loved one as a body or remains -- and although they may be, when you have just lost a loved one and one is in shock and in so much pain, one would prefer they refer to them by their name, affiliation (ex. your dad, grandpa, etc), or as "loved one". Everything was so mechanical to them - just another body and didn't care for names. They also tried to charge additional fees for extra days they would hold our loved one's body. They were terrible at returning calls and took long to contact the hospital. I felt terrible getting the calls from the hospital as though I had forgotten my father there. It was heartbreaking. We had the viewing, mass, and burial on the same day. During the mass, Beverly and the driver of the hearse took lunch. After mass, we had to wait for them to get back. The casket spray, for which they charged us $250 which was supposed to have white roses and a ribbon, did not have a single rose (only carnations, greenery, and some other cheap flowers) and no ribbon. At the cemetery, as soon as my father's casket was placed by the grave site, Beverly said "I know we were not your first choice, but thank you for doing business with us." I guess this was her response for me calling her out for coming back from their lunch after mass was over. Really? Not the moment to do this and to say this to family who are mourning their loved one on the last minutes before their burial. This was not about THEM! Very unprofessional. Their slogan: "Where your loved one becomes our loved one" --- is a joke! Sadly, recently we had another death in our family --- and after dealing with another funeral home and the huge difference in professionalism -- I realized how much more terrible this place is. I do not recommend this place at all.

Simply put, there are more soulls lying in the grount and in urns then there are living, breathing people in this city-regardless of wether or not your counting only residents, workers in transit, or both. The math has dictared for some time now that Culver City; is in fact, a "city of the dead". That said, like its nearby neighbor Hillside (a Jewish final resting place), it houses many celebrites, of which I wont go into detail about here. Suffice to say, you have heard of most of them. A mere google will help you in that regard. Since I can walk from my residence to either cemetary, on occasion I "pop in" to check out the grounds, visit some family that have passed on, and yes....take a peek at some of the more famous residents who have since or recently passed on. On my way and out of these beautful grounds, I was greeted and sent off by a most pleasant veteran security guard, one Mr. Williams, who needless to say, is the CSA (Customer Service All Star) of this experince. Mr Williams-pictured has worked here for 9 plus years and was kind enough to share some insight about the duties of security as well as what makes his job so pleasant.
