I frequent this Forest Lawn every month. They took care of the run over with a grass mower the damaged flower vase container and replaced it right away. We typically have not complained much as the crew at Forest Lawn has shown due diligence. But yesterday's trip was a bit of a shock. The site was all dried up and weeds are sprouting. No green grass and looking around find that it is looking all dried up everywhere. I know it is Spring and rainfall isn't up to normal. But what will it look like when summer is here?? Oh, I found Hearing Aids belonging to "Dave" (labeled), so I took it to the office. Forest Lawn can do better with watering the lawns and getting rid of weeds. read more

I stopped by to check out the mausoleum, then decided to take a walk around the grounds and clean some headstones. I had never been here and was pretty impressed with the mausoleum, but the grounds left me very disappointed. It was in terrible shape, overgrown grass everywhere, the headstones are sinking in, some were actually completely out of their plot which i picked up and put in place. Others were submerged in water. Some were almost hidden from the growth of the weeds around them. It was very upsetting. I work in the industry as well and this is not what families should be seeing around them when they go to visit their loved ones. read more

I love Forest Lawn; most of my family friends are buried here. I visit from time to time, and it's always so peaceful and calming. My son comes with me, and he enjoys fixing any graves with fallen flowers by organizing them. (I hope that doesn't sound too unusual!) I really appreciate the beautiful greenery here. read more

Forest Lawn in Long Beach, CA has terrible customer service. When attempting to bury my sister in September of last year, it was a struggle to get a return call. There was only one person I could speak with that took care of burial. She was out sick and no one else could help me. When the person returned to work I had to continue calling and had nothing but difficulties receiving callbacks. When we were able to bury my sister, some weeks later due to backlog, it went ok. However I never heard back about her grave marker being placed. I was supposed to receive a drawing of the marker to approve before it was constructed. After not hearing from Forest Lawn, I called this past Monday, "February 13th" only to discover that the drawing had not been done. The lady I spoke with stated she would send it to me that evening or Tuesday by the latest. Of course I did not receive it. I called back late afternoon Tuesday and spoke with a gentleman named "Dennis" who assured me he would complete the design and email me the drawing before he left work. DENNIS DID SO! Thank you so much Dennis. I approved the drawing. They way things have gone, I imagine my sister's grave marker will probably be completed in another 6 months only if I continue to call! Ordered flowers directly from their website and they were not delivered. Called them and was told they didnt have a flower shop for Long Beach. Huh? I ordered directly from your website. They insist however they were delivered. We have video of service which was very small and they were definitely NOT there. We spent more than $300 and were told that we were wrong. Dont waste your time here, go to a different florist. Would not refund money ****Update**** After posting, I was contacted and offered a formal sincere apology. The staff hasn't a clue how to deal with grieving families. They are untrained and unprofessional. Their written command of the English language is abominable, so ordering a headstone or tablet takes constant back and forth, and the text messages are almost incomprehensible. They inflict untrained, though probably well-meaning, people on you so processing basic paperwork takes far longer than necessary with continual corrections of mistakes. The number of calls and emails it took to get the most basic tasks accomplished was appallingly frustrating. Quite frankly, they should be ashamed and need attentive managers and trained staff if they are going to be in the business of helping traumatized families. My mom passed away on January 5th of this year. She was 87 and lived a long and fruitful life. The folks at Forest Lawn was helpful, compassionate and very understanding of our loss. Nevertheless there comes a time when we all should ponder the inevitable and make some plans, if not for ourselves, for our survivors. No one likes to think about it let alone talk about it, but there it is, one day, your ultimate confrontation...death. There, I said it. It's an ugly thought, death, and one I've put for too long on the back-burner. The care-free halcyon days are mostly behind me and I wonder how to make my passing as painless as possible. When I was young, of course, the world was full of wonderful new discoveries, an unlimited source of possibilities and promises. We'd be taking regular vacations to Mars on Pan-World Airways, cures would be found for all diseases, there would be no more war and we'd see the end to poverty, prejudice and hunger. Sure, man, no sweat. Time soon teaches the naive the true nature of things. And time goes by so swiftly. Questions one should ask themselves: 1. If I died tomorrow, who'd arrange my funeral? 2. If I died tomorrow, the money to pay for my funeral will come from? 3. If I died tomorrow, my funeral would include? 4. If I died tomorrow, I'd be interred at? I know my brother would wish he'd made his plans sooner. And he died 8 years ago, much to everyone's surprise, without a will. Personally, it's in my wishes to be cremated with my ashes scattered among the waves, at peace in the turbulence. But many would like to lay down within the earth, perhaps right here at Forest Lawn where on a clear day you can see the mountains all covered in snow. Are you ready for this? read more

My father passed away on 2/7 and made an appointment for 2/10. We met with counselor Gina Krotee. Gina is very helpful and sweet. I really don't know how she composes herself helping grieving families all the time so major props to her. First available date for burial was Tuesday, 2/26! Gina said they were experiencing an unusual high rate of deaths in Long Beach. Therefore, we pushed it to Saturday, March 2nd, of that same available week. As a family we could not agree on some things regarding funeral arrangements so Gina allowed us a second meeting to meet to complete the funeral arrangements. We completed the funeral arrangements a week after our initial mtg. We left with a peace of mind thinking our life insurance would pay for it. **Plot Twist** My brother needed FL (forest lawn) to make him the purchaser for financial reasons so I made an appt a week after our last meeting with Gina. My brother called freaking out because Gina told him our life insurance wouldn't guarantee payment! Yeah, funeral package was close to $17,000. So freaking out we all were so we had to turn to our Plan B to pay out of pocket for the funeral. Gina changed some of the arrangements and it went down to $15,000. Not sure if she knew this information sooner but it would have been better to let us know right away because this is important information. Anyways, funeral arrangements with Forest Lawn is great despite the plot twist.. Everyone seems to be kind and understanding. When you call them with any questions they direct you to the best person to answer your questions. The day of the funeral, we were greeted by Abel and David at our church. They brought my dad in and they were the best. David helped with flower arrangements we bought and transported all of them to the cemetery. Abel was familiar with our cultural Polynesian mats. The ratings are for these; -POORLY LIT PARKING AREA & paths - If visitation hours are until 9 pm, I think keeping lights along walkways for those of us still living is a small request no?Did I mention, poorly lit areas? Not asking for Baseball field lights, just more lights. If you are wearing heels, be careful because the paths are also uneven. - CONFUSING and again POORLY LIT entries/gates - there are actually TWO separate visitation areas - one accessible from Cherry Avenue and the other along San Antonio Drive. If you drive into the wrong one, you will end up expressing sympathies to another family (just like several of us did.) instead of your intended. (I do not begrudge another family their condolences but it's a bit of a faux pas on my part to show up "uninvited" as it were.) -ABSENT STAFF - no one to ask clear directions from. The one male staffer corralled by the aforementioned family above, simply waved me to the end of a VERY DARK PATH so I could make my way around back to the correct family. OY VEY! Good thing I have no fear of either the dark or of the dead. Forest Lawn In Cypress and Covina have a better layout. I am sure the bereaved family was treated well, and according to their wishes. But this review was certainly NOT for that. read more

My father prepaid for his memorial service here before he passed so we really had no choice, but we were pleasantly surprised with the results. Beautiful grounds, ask for someone to take you on a tour if it's possible. Socorro was very helpful in the preparations and did not try to up-sell us on anything. The service itself was memorable and the members were helpful in customizing it how we thought might be fitting... offering suggestions to make it an even memorable experience. If you want to play music or a slideshow and want everything to go as smooth as possible I suggest you go a day or so beforehand and test out your electronics/digital files/connections with the staff, which is an option. I purchased the pre need plan about 4 years ago and when it came time to use it everything worked out perfect, the staff was very professional and they made the process as stress free as possible. I was there last week to visit my buddy's name plate for his bday... it had been a while since I went, and actually had a tough time locating his spot... There were two ladies, Shivon and Nicole, who helped me by using the Walkie-talkies to front desk and find the exact plot location... This is prolly thee BEST cemetery I've ever explored! Sorry Hollywood Forever with all your movie stars n stuff!, but this place is 100x CREEPIER! Yeah, yeah, I agree with Mariah that it's absolutely beautiful.....but I wouldn't describe it as peaceful. It's eerie even in the middle of the day! The older crypts are dated as early as the 1920s. The grounds are bland and boring but all the good stuff is in the mausoleum. The architecture of the mausoleum is gorgeous with beautiful murals on the ceiling and on the walls! WOW! I've already been here TWICE in ONE WEEK! The first time I came here with a pal of mine but we only had a 1/2 hour to see it all. That was just a little teaser for us. This cemetery requires like 3 HOURS of exploring. I saw and heard some very unusual, head-scratching and cringe-worthing things. It also made me question my own mortality. Do I want to be buried and forgotten for all eternity? Or entombed in a basement where no one but morbid people (like myself) will discover me and read my name aloud? I heard doors creek open when no one was there. The sound of the Foucault pendulum is eerie but stunning to see. I felt drafts. The lights in the basement where the older crypts are flicked and made unnerving buzzing sounds. There was poop in the middle of the basement hallway. I opened a wooden door next to a coffin elevator to find bleach and other "weird" things. This place is like a maze and you can easily get lost. Many hidden hallways, crypts, and staircases. Quite entertaining for anyone who loves this kind of stuff. I DO NOT recommend bringing a OUIJA BOARD though. read more

Services were ok but afterwards is where my frustration lies. They said they would help with obtaining the death certificates, which are very crucial in all paperwork after a death.. I am told it would take 15 days so I call after 2 weeks have passed, to get an update on DC. I am told they did not place the order for the DC for over a week after the burial....and they had no reason for the delay! From burial to receiving the DC, it took a month long!!! Called their "client relations" number that they gave me, left a message, and never got a call back! After spending this amount of money, you would think they'd be more helpful after the fact.. We purchased a headstone with a bronze photo and was also told it would be 2 weeks for them to sketch and send to us for approval.. Took over a month to get the sketch... After approval, they said 2 weeks for the headstone and bronze photo to be complete. Now I am told it would take 8 - 10 weeks for completion and for us to place the headstone. Everything they've told me thus far has been inaccurate and continue to disappoint. I would not recommend their services. read more

BE AWARE: I'm writing this review out of concern for other people. I first want to say that Gina, who helped my family with my Grandma's funeral, was truly great. However, I want to issue a warning to watch your belongings. My purse was taken at my Grandma's services. The security people were very helpful at first but then suddenly communication came to a stop. I feel they did find something on the security video and didn't divulge the findings. As much as having my belongings taken (and the huge financial burden it was to replace those things) the worst thing was it ruined my mourning process for my Grandma. It literally made me sick that I missed time with my family while I was canceling credit cards. It made me so disheartened with society and then how Forest Lawn ultimately handled the situation. So again, beware bringing your belongings. read more

Thank GOD we will Never have a need to deal with these Heartless, people EVER again. My Amazing Mom left us a few days ago and made it Crystal clear that she wanted to be cremated. I live Out of state, so I called and asked if They could fulfill my moms wishes without my signature, which they wanted along with 2 witnesses or a Notary, (No good deed goes Unpunished) However, The employees at the Long Beach Forest Lawn made the decision to Call Grieving Family members after I asked her If she could get my Moms Wishes started without My Signature as it was after 5pm, We live in the country no place close to a Notary. I was fed up with a Brainless heartless Employees, so I hung up. Again, the employees CALLED grieving Family members and told them I "Would not sign the papers to have my mom cremated" and MOM would remain refrigerated. Amazing what a can of worms Like the "People" at Forest Lawn Long Beach are able to open when put into a Position to Use a Telephone.. Thanks you Idiot for Making this terrible time WORSE! Did we Mention, When we DID arrive at a Notary the Very Next Morning, The EMPLOYEES at Forest Lawn had NOT included the Correct paperwork that they so desperately needed........Useless as a Company! UPDATE: Now I'm getting endless calls from the "People" at Forest Lawn", "I would like to talk about the Situation so call me if you want to talk". Apparently It's not OBVIOUS enough I don't Need/Want to talk to these People, who have left countless messages, as I'm NOT RETURNING THE CALL? I guess some people will give a company that 1) Takes in all the Facts, Distorts said facts then Passes on the Ultra Distorted facts to family members.
