A true Marine; thank you for you service D'andre!
    Denise C.

Thank you Constance for being there for me and my family when we needed you the most. When I lost my mother on the heels of planning a Vow renewal you encouraged me to take the trip and to put my trust in God and you assured me that upon our return all would be handled and it was. I did not have to lift a finger. You called West Angeles Church of God and Christ and handled all the minute details and all me and my hubby had to do was inform our loved ones of the date and time of the service. There have been two additional occasions when we used you again and you and your team made a diffifult time easier. Although, it was a very stressful time, we did not have to worry and were able to grieve without worrying about the final details. Again...thank you Constance and Angeles Funeral home for being their for us.

    Viewing at Angelus Funeral home

I went for first time to a viewing at Angelus Funeral home. Inside the place is clean and very nice. The follow COVID19 safety standards. All the employees are wearing mask. They offer mask if you don't have one and prefer to wear one. They also have hand sanitizer. The chapel inside was very nicely decorated and the furniture was elegant and comfortable. The restroom facilities are very nice and clean. Very organize and plenty of parking.

It was a very hard time, and this is the first time I ever had to arrange any kind of funeral procedure. Honestly, everything happened so fast and sudden with my mother's passing, I really don't know what I would have done if Jenny wasn't there to guide me. She was very thorough, patient, and helped to explain the process in a way that I could understand despite the frazzled mind frame that I was in. My family and I decided that the best way to honor my mother's body was to cremate her, and then place her in a niche. I went with the cremation package with Hankook Mortuary, and I felt that the price was fair and reasonable compared to that of its competitors in the area. I am so glad that I went with Hankook Mortuary not just because of the cost, but because of how smoothly her and her team have made the whole process seamless. It was already very difficult managing her sendoff through inpatient hospice, coordinating and working with the supportive care doctors and nurses, Jenny and her team helped to take a lot of the stress from funeral planning. It was one less thing that I had to worry about, and that alone was tremendously helpful for me and my family.   I only have great things to say about Jenny and Hankook Mortuary. So glad that I chose them to help honor my mother for her end of life care. Thank you so very much Jenny and team for taking amazing care.

I am writing this review years later because the experience was so traumatic that it took a long…read moretime before I could even speak about it. My mother passed away from COVID in January 2021, during one of the most heartbreaking moments of my life. I trusted this funeral home to guide me through the process with dignity, sympathy, and respect. Instead, what I encountered was behavior that felt cold, harsh, and completely devoid of compassion. From the beginning, I was not given a clear price list. The explanations were rushed and unclear, and the final cost turned out to be much higher than what I initially understood. When I asked about it, I was spoken to as if my questions were an inconvenience, and I was reminded again and again that they were "too busy" because many people were dying at the time. But the worst and most unforgettable moment happened on the day of my mother's service. My pastor brought a $500 coupon for this funeral home and kindly offered to help me ask if it could be applied to my remaining balance. Instead of handling the matter with professionalism, the staff member named Jenny immediately raised her voice at both of us. She told my pastor that this was "between her and me" and told him to leave the office in a rude and dismissive way. Once he stepped out, she started yelling at me, saying: "There are so many funerals backed up right now. I squeezed your mother into the schedule, and now you show up with a coupon at the last minute? Why didn't you bring this earlier?" As she shouted, she held the funeral schedule chart right up to my face and then threw it onto the floor in anger. I was standing there alone--exhausted, grieving, and still crying over my mother's death--when this happened. I cannot explain the shock and humiliation I felt. What made it even more painful was that other staff members were present, saw what was happening, and did absolutely nothing. Not one person stepped in. Not one person offered comfort, sympathy, or even basic courtesy. It felt as if no one there had the slightest sense of compassion, respect for the deceased, or understanding of what a grieving family goes through. The overall atmosphere I witnessed made me feel that this funeral home operates without the empathy, dignity, or human decency that such a place should have. In a setting where families are saying their final goodbyes, I expected even a small amount of kindness -- but I experienced the exact opposite. I understand that the pandemic was overwhelming for everyone, including funeral homes. But difficult circumstances never excuse treating grieving families with disrespect, hostility, or indifference. What I experienced felt deeply unprofessional, insensitive, and completely inappropriate for a place entrusted with honoring someone's final moments. I know there are not many Korean-run funeral homes in the LA area, and many in the Korean community rely on this one. But based on my experience, I sincerely hope people understand how they operate. If you are considering this funeral home, please be extremely cautious -- and if possible, I strongly recommend choosing another place for your loved one's final arrangements.

Clear Instructions Ignored and Very Poor Communication…read more Our experience with Spalding Mortuary was extremely disappointing. From the beginning, we made it very clear that no makeup was to be applied to my mother. Carmen acknowledged this before the contract was signed and again during the signing. We specifically asked that she be presented naturally, the same way they had previously done for my nephew. After payment was made, communication became very difficult. Phone calls often went unanswered. Even our florist had trouble reaching anyone at the mortuary and ultimately chose to deliver the flowers directly to the church instead. My mother was flown to Los Angeles wearing a hospital gown. I sent my nephew to the funeral home simply to check her condition after transport so we could determine whether any touch-ups were needed. Later we were told that this visit would be considered our only viewing, even though she had not yet been dressed. The night before the funeral we brought her clothes and again clearly stated no makeup. Carmen allowed us to come in for a final viewing after she had been dressed. When we saw my mother, she had heavy makeup applied anyway, despite our repeated instructions. For many families, that final viewing is the last memory they will ever have of their loved one. Seeing the exact opposite of what we had requested the night before her funeral was deeply upsetting. We also paid for funeral services that included staff support, yet at the funeral itself only Daniel was present to officiate and direct the service. Lisa and Carmen were not there. Families deserve clear communication and respect for their wishes when trusting a funeral home with someone they love. I hope sharing our experience helps another family avoid going through the same situation during such a difficult time.
