The Holy Frijoles food truck was serving up food at the Coyote Drive In tonight. I ordered the smoked duck street tacos. I had to wait about 10 minutes, but I was rewarded with a trio of piping hot tacos with a side of rice. While the duck was not very smoky, the tacos tasted fresh, topped with delicious spinach that is sauteed while you wait. Ask for some avocado slices for an extra special treat. I usually skip the rice, but I really enjoyed the Holy Frijoles version with kernels of corn and a rich buttery flavor. Overall, a nice food truck meal! read more

It's holy frijol!!! The name is wrong on yelp. Anywho, I've had it at the coyote drive and I went back for their duck tacos. Guys lay off the salt these are my favorite but this time someone had a heavy hand with the salt it was hard to eat and I really wanted to eat it bc it's very good. Except for the salt. The rice that accompanied it was delicious I appreciate that they kept it simple. They have a gut taking orders in front of the truck he's very nice and makes the experience more personable. Holy Frijoles is both a taco truck and provides table service for food at The Usual. Perched in the parking lot behind the bar, you can get served inside or just stop by the taco truck without visiting the bar. It seems to be stationed there and open during all bar hours, although I could not find a website to post when they are open. The truck is one of my staples for after-hour eating on Magnolia -- while the other food trucks come and go, this one stays put and stays open, even on Mondays and Tuesdays. The menu is a strange but fitting mix of Mexican and Italian. There are a variety of tacos, tortas, quesadillas, and huaraches (something I never heard of, but it is essentially a giant sope) and then pizzas, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, eggplant rollatini, crab cakes....yeah. Totally weird, but great when you have a bunch of hungry people who can't make a decision about what they want to eat. The food is really good and the portions are generous. My only warning is it can get a bit buttery/greasy. Despite sharing food, we definitely left in a food coma.The torta we got was HUGE with lots of meats and a hotdog cut in half and wedged inside. The bread was crusty-buttery-delicious, but not for the weak stomach. I've also tasted their corn and mushroom quesadilla, which was delicious but had hints of that buttery grill flavor. The eggplant, despite being fried, was not as heavy as expected. The huarache looked delicious -- I will be back to try that next. It was covered in lettuce and tomatoes and beans. Yum. read more

Finally, some authentic, simple, street tacos. None of this Tex-Mex crap served up by others. I got the 3 tacos deal and had two with carne asada and the third with al pastor. The ordering process was simple, done outside of the truck and then you get a receipt. They call your number moments later and you are all set. The tacos were a decent size and very down home tasting. They just come with cilantro, onions, and lime, the way it should be. These guys know what they are doing and execute it well. QUESADILLA: (Zucchini) Yes, I did... I had a zucchini quesadilla. No other quesadillas will ever live up to this one... not even shrimp...maybe with bacon on it, c'mon now! TORTAS: (pastor/pork) My new love. Lightly toasted bun (maybe? it was dark in the parking lot) and soft to the bite. The pastor seemed like it was marinated. Just as good as the tacos. The main kicker was the queso that was in the torta. The queso was the reason of all this madness. IT WAS THE QUESO that brought them all together!!! Get on your knees and tell the torta you love it! Yes, I'll go back for seconds. You're talking to the Sandwichmaker for f--- sakes. We ate in the parking lot before we got robbed of what we had. Back away, there's no sharing here. Went for a walk at Trinity Park, Google for restaurants and this is the first place that was recommended. The gang decided to take a chance on it and believe me did NOT DISAPPOINT. The standout for me was Holy Frijole with their street tacos, delicious, authentic and the owner was so cool. My sis went with Chico Blanco and got the loaded nachos for $12 flat, she said the pulled pork was so flavorful. The vibe is so chill it reminds me a little of SoCal, the girls got to pet Ellie a rescue pitbull who btw is the sweetest dog EVER!!!! I will be coming back to get some more of this delicious food or just to hang out. If you're into little places like this please give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Great food and an excellent location.. right behind the best cocktails in Cowtown: The Usual. The choices are not the typical tex-mex food truck, but some great quality choices You can really tell the family knows what they are doing and not just trying to whip something up and send you off. I tried the burrito and was pleasantly surprised to have it delivered into The Usual when it was ready; all set in front of me on a real plate with forks and knives. Impressive. Hired the Holy Frijole food truck to serve a late night snack in the parking lot of Stonegate Mansion after my daughters wedding reception. We kept it simple with 3 different street tacos and bottled water. They were there on time, served great tacos to the guests, had a big cooler of bottled water and were friendly to the guests. They did not rush us and all the wedding guests (especially the out of towners) loved the idea and tasty tacos. He set up a table for the sauces, with napkins too and stayed a little beyond the scheduled hour, due to slow guests filing out of the reception. It was a fun addition. I'm originally from south TX where u can walk across the border an visit any roadside food truck/cart an it be delish. I had to try a variety so between me an the girlfriend we got, street tacos, squash blossom, and haurancha.. Man I had no complaints it was all hot tasted fresh, an it was quick.. No pricing on the menu and was totally suprised at $64 for 2 taco plates, a quesedilla, an order of nachos, an order of corn, and 4 waters! I had the pleasant surprise of finding this food truck at the clear fork food park (university & 30) and am in love with their dish called 'huaraches' which is a special hand made corn tortilla (so delicious and probably lightly fried) which has a bit of beans stuffed inside it, then topped off with pastor (they nailed this pork ) and the usual: lettuce, pico, guac, avocado, sour cream, and a bit of high quality freshly grated cheese. The seller was particularly witty and fun to order from and talk to, and I saw three other things on the menu that I will enjoy next time: their veggies sound wonderful (substitute for the meats), and they have two special quesadillas (traditional mexican recipes): one with calabacitas (but its not the meat of the squash its the 'crown') and the same with corn (a bit of corn meat but mostly the crown on the top). These last two I haven't had and I probably slaughtered the descriptions, but they sounded wonderful, and I will be pleased when I am able to get back to the truck. read more

Their lengua (beef tongue) tacos are my personal favorite, but they are all delicious... and cheap! Located behind The Usual off Magnolia in Ft. Worth, this is one of the best food trucks ever. They do traditional fare with a bit of a gourmet twist. And by gourmet, I mean they effectively stuff hot dogs into tortas without making me cry. The zucchini quesidilla is one of my favorites too; a light and delicious appetizer to split. I usually follow that with the Mexican Torta, while my husband indulges in the Cuban Torta. Freaking delicious. Tried it today at the Fort Worth food park and I was raised in California and excited to eat some real good tacos since it has been a while. I ordered 2 Al Pastor and 1 Asada taco and the best thing was probably the toasted corn tortilla. Both meats were extremely bland. There was no seasoning or flavor from marinating done at all. Also the green salsa had no real flavor or heat to it and the orange salsa(I've never seen orange salsa, most of the time it's red) tasted like a type of dressing with no heat either. And to make it worse the meat was cold. Maybe it was an off day based on the other reviews but for $2 plus per taco I expected better. read more

I had my first food truck experience yesterday. Holy Frijoles was my first!. I had the Asada street tacos. It comes with 3 meat filled tacos with cilantro and onions, two sauces and lime on the side. One sauce is reddish/orange in color almost resembles hot sauce not salsa, but hot sauce and a green sauce. The red sauce has a kick to it, but put both sauces on the tacos together and it has a refreshing taste. I was a little sad that I was halfway into my 3rd taco and realized I ate the other two so fast! Lol.. read more

The gentleman wearing a bandana that was apparently supposed to be working seemed more interested in doodling on a pad of paper than taking our order and fixing it when he messed it up. Although I enjoyed the food, I did not think the quality and quantity was worth the price ($8). We enjoyed getting to eat out by the river.
