    Maria's Mexican Restaurant

Came here for brunch and it was quite busy, so I highly recommend making a reservation, especially on the weekend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is really nice and the vibe is great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They do have a brunch menu, but I went off-menu and ordered the Polo Milanesa. I was originally tempted by the ahi tuna ceviche, but I'm glad I chose the chicken. It was breaded perfectly, crispy, flavorful, and paired with an excellent poblano sauce that really made the dish. It came with red rice and a refreshing cucumber salad, and the presentation was on point. My friend ordered the Mexico City chilaquiles from the brunch menu and really enjoyed them. The coffee was solid, too. We didn't try dessert since the menu was limited, and while we weren't drinking, the cocktail menu looked great. p.s. I almost didn't order the Polo Milanesa after seeing pics where the cucumber salad and white rice looked mixed together, but in person it was plated really well and honestly, I'm so glad I ordered it.

If you are looking for good drinks, delicious Mexican food, a beautiful and trendy ambiance, and exceptional service this is the place for you! My girlfriends and I made reservations to celebrate Christmas and my upcoming 40th birthday. The restaurant is gorgeous! I love their decor and colors. They really paid attention to all details. The service is impeccable. My water glass never ran low and they took away empty plates almost immediately. Our server was outstanding and funny! I wish I remembered his name as he deserves all the recognition! I was too busy catching up and chatting to take any pics aside from the beautiful cocktail I ordered but the food was delicious!!!

Maria's is on another level! We had such a fantastic experience. We were lucky enough to find a table without a reservation, and from the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel right at home. Everyone was attentive and kind, and our server, Jackson, was outstanding. He walked us through the menu, offered recommendations, and every single one turned out to be spot-on. We started with the chicken soup, and we were not prepared for how special it would be. It came with tender chicken meatballs--something completely new for me--and they were absolutely delicious. The vegetables were cooked to perfection: not too soft, not too firm. Honestly, it was one of the best soups we've had in a long time. Next came the mole, and that dish was like stepping into a time machine. The flavors carried me straight back home to Guanajuato. It's served with two generous pieces of chicken, grilled first for extra depth, then smothered in a sweet, chocolatey mole sauce. In a brilliant modern touch, Maria's pairs the dish with vegetables in escabeche--genius! Now, I'm not usually a chips-and-salsa person, but I had to try theirs. To my surprise, they were excellent--nothing like the bland, canned salsa you find in most so-called "Mexican" restaurants. This was fresh, flavorful, and truly little spicy. If I had one small suggestion, it would be about the music. Reggaetón doesn't really reflect the heart of Mexico. I think the atmosphere would be even richer with traditional Mexican sounds--bohemian, trio, or old classics that carry the soul of the culture. We've already decided to drive two hours next month to celebrate my birthday at Maria's. That alone should answer the question: do I recommend this place--the food, the people, the whole experience? Absolutely.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food. We ordered the flautas and enchiladas 3 colores, and both dishes were delicious. The only thing I would change is adding a bit more salt to bring out the flavors. The service was friendly, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the atmosphere was very pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd definitely come back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't as busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We just had an early dinner here and it was delicious. I had the Mi Chinita cocktail and it tasted like liquid cake. So good with vanilla and passion fruit. My Seafood enchiladas were amazing ( again ) and my husband's filet tacos were good as well. Our server was a delight and everyone was uber friendly. We highly recommend Marias.

This restaurant is kind of fancy. I went for brunch on my birthday after seeing good reviews and TikTok videos. The service was really good, but the food was just okay. The tacos were so-so, and for me, the prices were expensive. We were looking for real Mexican food, but the flavor wasn't very authentic. It felt more like food inspired by Mexican cuisine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would recommend this place if you're looking for a nice atmosphere and good service, but don't expect amazing Mexican food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

the restaurant is very pretty - we didn't make reservations and I highly recommend that you do! The bar is first come/first serve and you can order your meal at the bar too. The outdoor patio, while it was really too chilly for us to be outside, it is very nice! Our server, Chris, was excellent. He shared information about the Executive Chef and the owner that we were unaware - Now on to the food - the enchiladas tres colors was my husband's choice and he loved it! I had the salmon and it was superb! The cucumber salad, hmmm, I'm wondering how to make it for myself b/c I LOVED IT! We had queso and chips as an appetizer - very good! You need to try it! Great place! Great food! Great service!

Great! Everything was excellent. The staff was super friendly. The dining room is small, but it's OK. If I had a complaint, it would be that the music is loud. I'm "one of those" and they let me customize my meal (low carb, no rice, etc). Overall, I can't wait to come back.

Not a fan. I don't think there's a single restaurant off of university that I do not like with consideration to their respective price categories except for this one. Maria's was something to look forward to when the old steakhouse moved, but i was sorely disappointed. I meant to write this review when it first opened but forgot until i went through my phone to clear out old photos. Maria's "hot sauce", tasted like they opened up a can of tomato paste and added some water and salt to it. Had no flavor or texture; possibly the worst sauce at a restaurant we ever tasted. Presentation of the meals were nice, and my husband's meal was ok. I however, ordered an entrée that included fish, and the fish had clearly gone bad. It had a really gross consistency and even worse flavor. I was highly disappointed as I really wanted to like this place because it looked cute. The aesthetics of the restaurant are on point however the atmosphere is not great in that they did not take into consideration any sound absorption when designing. They pack so many tables into small spaces that it gets unbearably loud for dinner. Not a great place to go on a date. The service was OK, but nothing spectacular, and it is the main reason for the one star rating. While the waiters were nice, it took so long to get any attention, especially in light of my meal being completely bad. By the time they came back to check on us, my husband was half way done through his food, and was sharing his meal with me. Additionally, the only reason we aren't giving it a second chance is the valet service. Parking used to be free here. Tell me why in the world you would charge customers to valet their cars that your valet parks only a few feet from the entrance, while consequentially blocking ALL parking spots and forcing your customers that opt to park themselves to walk from much further spaces down the street? Makes no rational sense, right up there with tipping for fast food. So glad Quince arrived!

I came here for brunch and loved the whole experience. We started with queso and it was delicious. I could actually taste the seasoning instead of it being just plain melted cheese. For drinks, we had mimosas and I tried an Aperol Spritz for the first time. If you are a grapefruit fan, you will definitely enjoy it and I finally understand the hype. For food, we ordered carne asada tacos, breakfast tacos, and the French toast. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. The tacos were packed with flavor and the French toast was the perfect balance of sweet and fluffy. The restaurant has a welcoming vibe and the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It is a great spot for a weekend brunch with friends or even a casual date! Maria's Mexican Kitchen just became one of my new favorite brunch spots in Fort Worth.

The noise level was extremely high...we literally had to yell just to have a conversation with each other. Service was also very slow. It took about 15 minutes just to be acknowledged at the bar, and close to 30 minutes to actually receive a drink. When I finally ordered, I told the bartender to make her favorite drink. She made something that included raw egg whites (which I later learned is common in certain cocktails), but it wasn't mentioned or explained at the time. A few hours later, I became very sick...vomiting and dealing with what felt like severe food poisoning all night and through the next 24 hours. After looking into it, I suspect it may have been related to the raw egg used in the drink. Just something to be aware of if you're ordering drinks like a whiskey sour or anything that may include egg whites. After getting our receipt (which you need for the speakeasy entry code), we checked out the speakeasy portion, but the vibe there wasn't great either..pretty must the same as the other part of the bar. We ended up leaving within about five minutes. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the hype for us....between the noise, long wait times, and how we were treated, it just wasn't enjoyable. For comparison, the bar next door, Archibald, felt much more welcoming. Maybe regulars have a different experience, but as first-time guests, we were not impressed.

We ordered nachos as an appetizer to split, along with two beers and a kids meal. What arrived was Motley Crue waking from a drug binge, raiding the pantry and trash, then declaring "let's do it." What was supposed to be nachos was anything but. The only explanation is someone who had never seen nachos tried to recreate them after hearing a rumor from someone at a Lowe's parking lot. The "chips" were not tortilla chips. They were rectangular strips of pale, flimsy material that looked like scraps of drywall film pulled out of a new construction site. An albino drywall experiment that somehow escaped the kitchen and landed on a plate. The entire thing was covered in barbecue sauce, with some mystery white liquid poured over the top. We assume it was supposed to be queso, but it definitely was not queso. Calling it queso feels disrespectful to actual queso. We ate maybe a quarter of it and decided we needed to leave before things got worse. Six hours later, we received an unannounced encore performance in the bathroom. I never had that before and ordered it on the spot. It was grapefruit vodka with lime, lots of fine pellett nugget ice (the really good kind) with ginger beer and condensed milk. My god it was great, they told me how they made it because i never saw milk added to this before. It was a delicious limeade that almost was slushy like, creamy and with tangy vodka. Plus they actually served it in a proper copper mug. Best mixed drink ive had period and a cool twist on my favorite standard moscow mule. The place is now going to become a frequent haunt for us. Its very laid back, relaxed, with fantastic ambiance. It doesn't get jammed packed and is not meant to get wild in. We went there around 7pm on a friday night with about 8 or so others already there with their drinks. It did pick up later with 15-20 people in there but still spacious and comfortable. It genuinely was just a nice bar to have drinks and conversations with friends. Nice music that isn't too loud so you can talk with normal voice levels. The bartenders we had were super nice and charismatic. The drinks were not expensive, a respectable 13 bucks for my mule. If you have a bill over 40 dollars they automatically add 20% gratuity to it so keep that in mind when you are tipping. And after 8pm everything had 20% gratuity added to the bill. But the service is so damn good that you will probably still want to tip on top of that anyways. I loved it so much i actually made a yelp account just to post a review. TLDR super cool speakeasy type joint, cool aesthetics and laundry theme. Not loud, good for drinks and chit chat, cool well crafted specialty cocktails that don't break the bank. Good bartenders. Good times. Cozy seats that encourage you to hang out and talk even with folks you haven't met before and dim without being dark lighting. Clean bathroom too and quick charismatic service. Hit this place up for sure even just for the novelty of it. It was a wonderful surprise bar for a date night. Pro tip for this area in general. all paid parking, some place validates some do not, i am unsure if they do here but there is paid parking right out front and also a paid lot literally across the street. But i don't even bother. About a block and a half away northeast is a big shopping complex with a target. i just park there for free and walk. its a short nice walk and doesn't cost 20 bucks.

Super late review as it's been quite some time since I visited Dirty Laundry, but it's still a spot…read morethat stands out. Highlights: Super fun speakeasy-style entrance Small interior, but the seating is arranged really well for different group sizes and feels surprisingly comfortable I don't recall them offering food during my visit, but the bartenders were friendly and were able to make a great mocktail Surrounded by different eateries, so it's easy to grab food nearby before or after drinks Easy parking, which is always a plus (street or parking garage nearby)
