Prior to today, I would have given this hospital, 4 stars. I worked here 10 years ago, gave birth to my youngest child here, all our doctors have practice here. For fast, efficient and caring staff, I always tell my family and friends to come here. But today, at the pre-admission registration, I had a horrible experience. I was dealt with by a staff in a condescending way, and was taken by surprise. The lady kept interrupting me. Instead of listening to what I have to say, she interrupted me and kept repeating herself. She was talking to me like I was speaking in a different language. And this is after she made feel i brought incomplete documents when clearly I brought everything that was on her list. It was her list of requirements that was lacking or not clear. I sat next to her in that tiny room and I started to cry because of frustration and feeling belittled. And not once did she ask me what was wrong. She disregarded the fact, the I was sitting in front of her crying, with tears!! I was not asked if there is something wrong or if I was in pain. She went on with her business!! I had to run out crying. And mentioned to the receptionist on my way out how i came in for quality care and was dealt with by a condescending staff. And I fasted for a bloodwork that never happened. This rating will stay the same until I get an apology from someone from this hospital. I don't know how I can make myself go back here knowing I will have to deal with her again. I pray that my children will not require to be hospitalized as long as this lady works there! read more

Although I have brought people to the new ER and they were very efficient and timely... I would not recommend the rest of the hospital for my dog. Nurses that don't know how to move patients OR so understaffed that they don't have enough people to do it properly. They don't know the basics which when you have just had orthopedic surgery they might know the technical stuff but if you are very uncomfortable...you don't care. Can you imagine...in a newly renovated orthopedic wing...there are no handicapped bathrooms?!?! A student nurse told me that the regular nurses didn't want to attend to me because I kept questioning the ridiculous things they were doing or doing wrong...they also mentioned to her that I was right. Don't blame the staff now because this was in 2007. I would never go back there...you shouldn't either. read more

Best experience ever having our second child here. Would highly recommend. We just moved here and had our first child at one of the best (per the "ratings") in that state. Holy name was BETTER! The nurses are fantastic and the rooms are very nice. The food is good too. It's all about the people and they are all wonderful. I completely forgot! When my son was 2 months old I went to the ER because he would vomit up all of the milk. I was told "He's not throwing everything up, he's getting nutrients." Then they sent me home (no tests conducted). A few weeks later I returned because my 2 month old wouldn't open his eyes and collapsed in my arms and I got the same treatment. Honestly, I believe it's because I was on Medicaid at the time. So....I refused, like REFUSED to leave and was put in a private room to be completely ignored for two days. Finally, after I cursed, screamed, and yelled they called a specialist from St. Josephs Hospital in Paterson. That doctor came right in and diagnosed him. Guess what, turns out he was born with a condition called pyloric stenosis which means his stomach muscle was completely closed off, so he wasn't getting any milk or nutrients. My 2 month old had to had to be anesthetized for surgery to open his stomach muscle or he was going to die. I HATE HOLY NAME!!! read more

Had to visit the ER for my shoulder. Very quiet Sunday afternoon, did not wait more than 10 minutes before I saw triage. Then maybe another 10 mins before I was taken back. Triage nurse, nurse practitioner and nurse were very nice. Xrays were taken quickly and technician was also very nice. Nobody enjoys going to the hospital and having never been at Holy Name before, it was a good experience. I had to go back after to pick up my xrays for the ortho. I called to find out the hours and procedure and the woman was very nice. Went later that day to pick them up and again the ladies there were nice. Stopped in the Chapel and said a prayer, very pretty, comforting Chapel. Also stopped in the gift shop and the lady is there was very nice and sweet and made sure to remove the prices off of my purchase, I told her not to worry about it, but she insisted. read more

Had surgery last year in December was in the hospital for 14 days! The Nurses and nurses assistants on 6 Marion are fantastic they took such great care of me . I hope I never have to get surgery again but if I do I would not hesitate to go to Holy Name. read more

Haderson Rivera is an insurance counselor at Holy Name. In a word, he is outstanding! He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and thorough. Relocating to NJ and for the first time and needing to purchase insurance on my own, the entire process felt a bit overwhelming--okay, a lot overwhelming. (Previously, my coverage was through my teachers' union in MA.) An acquaintance referred me to Haderson, and soon I was sitting in his office with the entire process making so much more sense. As he walked me through the process, he was incredibly patient, taking the time to make sure that I understood each of my choices and what my responsibility would be under each of the different plans. I left the meeting feeling secure that I had made the most appropriate selection based on my individual needs. But his support didn't end there; as additional questions arose, he initiated a conference call with the state of NJ, following up with me a couple of days later until we were both sure that my application was complete and accepted. Even the normally horrible hospital food was surprisingly tasty. My only complaint was with the billing department. Holy name hospital is a hospital of first choice for my boyfriend and I. I prefer holy name over Hackensack because they are always attentive and fast. I no longer feel the same the staff that was working by room 12 by the X-ray room at 1:25 in the afternoon on March 25 in the emergency room were very unprofessional!!! Laughing and pointing at my boyfriend who was a patient being walked with an oxygen tank. The man was probably in his late 40's early 50's with white hair and glasses. I did approach him and I told him the least he could do was wait till the patient was out of sight! He didn't even look at me and continued to type away! After every thing was done came home and received a call from the Hospital technician to " go back because the radiologist wanted to take more images "....I could not believed. I am a current patient here with covid 19 and I have to say if you get sick please run away from this place. Completely mess in every way. I am in a shared room with an older man also suffering from covid and they left him sitting on his own poop for hours. Me and him were both calling for nurses and no one and I repeat no one came to clean this man up. Never mind the stench of shit shit all over a tiny room. I had to run out of my room after and hour and yell at them to come in and clean it up. This place will make you sicker be very careful ever stepping foot in there. Knowing I hadn't held any food for five days because of the covid seems like this really pissed the nurse who was order to clean the poor old man laying in his poop. I told her my stomach was bothering me and I normally take Pepcid for indegestion, after hours of wait she comes in as she's done for the night and gives me medicine to push a vowel moment! I was even sicker after that! I spoke to a doctor here and even he said there was no reason that she would have given you that! Malicious and disgusting place! Worst experience ever!!! This POS hospital held me hostage for 20 hours refusing to let me sign myself out! Then billed my insurance the insane amount of over $18,000!! For anyone who's counting that's over $900 an hour (mind you in that 20 hour period, I was not in a room, received one inedible meal and was stuck on an ER bed with a bad back! I actually spent about 8 hours sitting in a chair because I was so uncomfortable!) After being paid over $16,000 by my insurance they were not satisfied and are now coming after me for even more money! (Mostly due to incorrect coding on their part which caused denials by insurance) They are nothing more than money hungry, greedy. Scumbags!! Food is disgusting at best....bedside manners horrible, they hole you up in an area with no windows, not allowed outside at all and refuse to let you leave! I had to threaten to call the cops to finally get released! DO NOT GET MEDICAL ATTENTION HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO HSVE YOUR CREDIT DESTROYED BY THIS GREEDY HOSPITAL !! read more

Same day surgery My mom is having a surgery today. We have been in same day at 7am procedure at 1130am. We waited for 25 mins for a nurse. She was nice to put the IV after that. We don't see anyone else. When to radiology for injection afterward no sign of the nurse an hour and half. Five minutes before the procedure the nurse come to make my mom drink something and leave. One minute later the anesthesiology comes the talk to her and leaves next is the main doctor talk to her. This hospital lack in communication. The call bell is so far away every 30 mins she needs to go to the bathroom. If I was not there who is going to help her. No nurse comes in and checks on her. Pop her head oh ur back. I hope this review help someone like me that in the past try get any information about the nurse school program in this hospital but could not find anyone. Because every review, of course the bad ones, the administration is very efficient in clean out of any website. Most people like me go to College late in life to get an RN degree with hope to get a better job, but many Colleges and HOLY NAME SCHOOL OF NURSING is not different take advance to cash out of our your dreams. When I researched this school in FASA, the graduation was 100% no retention or transfer, but all lies apart, I don't even finish my finals, because anyway I fail the reason is, I come late in my first test. My mother past away just 2 weeks, I just find out a breast tumor, besides all that reasons, they know that even the most punctual person never will be able for many reasons out there to be perfect on time, all the time, shit happens to everybody. Life is not perfect to anyone and trust me they are waiting for that happen. After all money and time invested I stay to try recuperate even knowing that was my first big test. I desperately ask for a test what of course was denied, just try hard next time. If you lost your first test or come late, you please just drop out right there, at least you get out with some money. They don't care, so more people will pay again to stay and finish the program,but this time as LPN and not RN that you pass the admission tests! Plus be ready to deal with favoritism, yes! To the point I lost my trust. We are tested in subject that was not even cover in class! Others complain, because of course we are all flunking, too much drama.You work had so any other problem is your problem like everything else. There is $1440,00 only for Tech fee, so you get IPAD Mini that don't cost even $300,00 so they don't have the work in correct the testes all give by EXAMSOFT. The cost for freshmen is $6691,00 first trimester only. Many others that also fail will try next year again, they said that we have to learn by ourselves,disappointing to find that, when we are paying almost $10.000,00 just the first trimester? I have to teach myself? Clinical s are OK, but if you graduate your employer wants your certification,besides all the students in my class at least 80% included myself have already experience in the hospital set. There is no difference from Community College, so judge by yourself if work paying this extra money, more nobody that still there make any kind of criticism in fear of retaliation, because they have to come back and finish, they are trap there. Most students like me come a board with big loans already from other Colleges just trying finish this "TWO YEARS" nursing degree. read more

I had my son here. The facilities are clean & nice, you're guaranteed a private room which is not possible at all hospitals. I would give them 4 stars + however being a FTM, I felt ill prepared once I arrived at the hospital. (I read all the books, went to all the classes- and now feel betrayed by the entire process) The staff were not forthcoming when you had questions, or would give different answers for the same question, treated my husband and mother as 2nd class citizens throughout the delivery & labor. Nurses changed shifts every 12 hours or so, which is understandable, however the bedside manner of some (not all) of the nurses needed much improvement. At one point there were 4 different nurses yelling while I was pushing, I was so scared not just for myself but for my baby. If you do choose Holy Name, keep track of all the medical professionals you interact with. Names, exchanges etc. (hard to do when you're in labor, but your partner can assist) The only person I absolutely LOVED and too bad she is associated w/ Holy Name is the Breastfeeding Consultant & Doula, Johanna Gorab. She is amazing, answers any questions you may have regarding childbirth, breastfeeding, induction etc., offers a variety of classes and is accessible by phone. (She gets 10 stars+) read more

Once my husband was diagnosed as terminal with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and refused hospice the nurses were hard to get a hold of and doctors were never around. It seemed as if they just wanted him to die to give his bed to someone else. A redheaded nurse told him it's ok to give up and stop fighting. He didn't want to go to hospice, do you think he wanted to hear that!? She stayed away from our room after that thankfully. Some nurses were great, Leo, Susie, Doris, others sometimes took forever to get him his pain meds. I would never go back to they hospital! Especially not to 3 Marion! read more

My husband was in the emergency room this afternoon under the care of Emergency Room , Dr. Lauren Shirley . I commend the professional care which Dr. Shirley provided to my husband . The evaluation was conducted quickly and efficiently ultimately diagnosing him with a kidney stone . Now , 4 hours after leaving the emergency room she called us back confirming her follow up with his specialist. Wow !!! I'm impressed both great treatment in the ER and afterwards !!! read more

I will never go back to this hospital again. I was treated so very rudely and unprofessionally. When I was at my lowest point in life and so very sick and weak I was treated with utter cruelty. The ER staff, namely Dr. Park tried to help as did a couple others in their walk in clinic (Margarita and a lady in finance) but others are a disgrace to their profession, such as unhelpful staff when making appointments, leaving the doors open during examinations and disclosing personal details out loud harshly when in waiting rooms. My husband and I call this hospital "Holy MRSA". I had to have surgery by a specialized doctor and he suggested the fastest way to go was to come to Holy MRSA. Wish we had waited!! The staff in post op is completely incompetent, one of the nurses we called Nurse Ratchett, no kidding. The nurses were incompetent. My husband had to call the HOSPITAL DIRECTOR in the middle of the night to get help!! Obviously from our name, you guessed it, they gave me hospital acquired MRSA. Their treatment was also incompetent, and we had to fly home to Florida sick as can be to save my life!! They immediately saw me at UF, and were horrified at what they did and how their sterility was horrible. (Not washing hands each time they came into my room, not enough washing stations, nurses aides cleaned the bathroom, and then changing my sheets without changing gloves. My husband insisted that he change his gloves, and took offense!) When we checked into their OSHA ratings, we found out that they were FINED for their lack of sterility care!!! My doctor won't even practice there anymore. Do yourself a lifesaving favor, and AVOID surgery in this horrible, horrible place!! Wish I could give negative stars. They ruined my life, and the MRSA almost killed me. In bed for six months, had to relearn how to walk, had to have holes filled in my belly daily, golf size holes. My husband came into HNH via ER and we found the staff and testing to be caring and efficient. He had surgery the next day and we had no issues with OR or nursing on the patient floor. Where we ran into trouble was with discharge. The nurse gave him the bag in which his clothing was placed in the ER and we discovered his pants (actually shorts, it was a hot day) and the belt, his favorite, were nowhere to be found. That is unacceptable. Does a patient need to send ALL belongings home with a family member while hospitalized??? HNH must have a system to secure basic belongings!!! read more
