This was a bookmark courtesy of my Yelp friend Ron P and Holy Smokes was well worth the stop. Delicious bbq and sides. The banana pudding was not the typical style (see the recipe on the Nilla Wafers box) but light and fluffy and still delicious. You cannot see in from the outside because the windows are covered with graphics. Order and pay at the counter on the right and find a seat in the large dining area on the left. They bring your food to you when it's ready. Our order came out pretty quick. Drinks and refills are self serve.

Pulled Pork Plate wrh extra side.

Overall, just not a fan of the food here. This is my first visit and I got the pulled pork platter and chose an extra side. The pork was anything but pulled, but rather chopped up and a finely shredded, and was more like a mushy ball. Although the flavor was decent, the texture was not appealing to me. The fries were good and I believe we're seasoned with their spice rub, which contains a little sugar in it. It was an interesting combination, but one that I liked. The beans were called cowboy beans, but were simply baked beans, and nothing at all noteworthy. The coleslaw was simply chopped up, cabbage tossed in a light mayo - very, very bland and tasteless. It's also pretty expensive as my lunch was $17. That included an extra side ($3.39 for a small side!!), but no beverage. The inside of the restaurant was homey. There are some individual tables and also picnic tables. I also loved the music they were playing. In the end, just not a fan of the food.

Honest review from a self-proclaimed North Carolina BBQ Pit-master. Before I begin the review, I will say this place was very good and I would eat here again. Instead of a flat 3 stars, I'd actually rate it 3.5 stars, as they have some good items on their menu. Their prices and portions are very reasonable. Having lived in Georgia for the past six years, good BBQ is hard to find here. This is definitely one of the best in the state that I've tried...the others being in Atlanta metro and Athens. Give Holy Smokes a try. The good: -Brisket. Their lean brisket was cooked perfectly and seasoned well, in a way that developed a good bark on the outside. It wasn't over-seasoned and wasn't too salty or dry, -Potato salad. Their potato salad is reminiscent of a cold German potato salad and was full of flavor. If you don't like sour cream, then bypass this and select another side. -Mac and Cheese. It was a warm and gooey cheese experience that is not similar to Kraft or Velveeta. Maybe adding a little bread crumbs or panko on top to give it a little depth and crunch could make it even better. The Mediocre: -Ribs. The ribs were mediocre. To elevate it to the "good" category, there would need to be more of a dry rub seasoning added to give it some more bark. As a BBQ place that offers ribs, pick your poison: Kansas City, Memphis, or St Louis style. Perfect the style and you'll leave a lasting impression. The pull to the ribs were great. They were not fall-off-the-bone and were not under or overcooked. I would just have liked to see some more seasoning on the outside. -Baked beans. They label them as cowboy beans. The flavor was good, with a hint of sweetness and smoke flavor. Small bits of pulled pork are contained in it...actual pulled pork and not chopped (we will get to that in a minute). -Sweet and Smokey BBQ Sauce. This tomato based sauce was good and had good flavor, but was nothing special for a homemade sauce that is no different than purchasing a bottle of commercially available sauce from a grocery store. Not one to distinctly remember because it was delicious, but not one to remember for it being bad either. The bad: -Pulled pork. As a North Carolinian, to advertise this as "pulled pork", it needs to be pulled and left alone. Don't chop it! This aggressive action has previous Pit Masters that have passed away, rolling over in their graves. Additionally, the pork was super dry. Chopping it reduces the amount of moisture content. Your pork when plated, should not be in a perfect ball shape. If it is, you chopped it and you're wrong. -Sweet Vinegar. If this is an attempt at Carolina style sauce, it's not at all. If it's the signature sauce to make your own, then it'll be in the mediocre category. The flavor was sweet with a slight vinegar flavor. It's as if the sweet and smokey sauce was mixed with apple cider vinegar to get this sauce. Eastern NC sauce is vinegar based and is distinct due to the heat from red pepper and tangyness of the vinegar. -Sweet and Spicy sauce. This sauce was very "black peppery" and not spicy. The service: Excellent service when ordering at the register and when requesting additional plastic tops for the sauces to go. Ambiance: The restaurant is the epitome of a BBQ spot. The decor is excellent and what you would want to see at a BBQ place. The price: Very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Other locations charge much more for the smaller portions you receive. This item is in the "good" category, if not "Superb" category. Keep up the great work with fighting inflation costs while taking care of your patrons pocket books! Not reviewed: -Brunswick Stew. Definitely trying this next time -Collard Greens -Green Beans -Banana Pudding

Really good barbecue pork! Only 4stars due to no bathroom or place to wash your hands.

The Brisket made the trip through Dublin worthwhile. No comment on the Brunswick purée, but the banana puddin' was tasty!

This is the best Bbq in town, hands down. The ribs are so tender that they fall off the bone

Very good food...The only criticism would be that they really need a place where people can eat inside...Food is delicious.

Great road side bbq! We are from Texas with lots of bbq restaurants. This place definitely is as good or better than many in Houston.

No dark meat on the buffet. No ice cream for my sweets-loving husband lol. $15 with no senior discount. Definitely not the Ole Times Country Buffet we are used to, at the same price. This was why the Golden Corral parking lot was packed and this one not so much.

I went to the Ole Times website to see the menu for Fri. and it had fried fish and country steak on the menu. I told my wife that sounded good so we went. We got there at 11:15 thinking the food would be fresh and good. They get your money coming in the door so you've already paid by the time you realize there's no fish or country fried steak, only some frozen meatballs in gravy and a lot of chicken wings, fried chicken, and baked spaghetti that was nothing but pasta someone waved some sauce over and topped with a bit of cheese. I asked our waitress what happened to the fish and country fried steak and she just said, "They don't do that anymore". We've eaten there several times in the past so we thought at least what they have will be good. WRONG! the chicken tasted like it was fried in old grease and none of the vegetables were seasoned properly. This place used to be good. Yesterday it was $30.00 plus tip for lunch and I left feeling like I'd been robbed. This is how you loose a restaurant. It was obvious they were putting out the cheapest food possible to save money. That is very counterproductive. People will stop coming if they don't like the food and you wind up loosing even more. That was my last trip to the 'Ole Times Buffet in Dublin Ga.

The foundation is still there with the rooms and decor but with lots of tables set up, similar to hosting a gathering at home. Not only that, everyone here was really friendly! We really felt welcomed, and though the second time, service wasn't as outstanding, it was still good. I think they really nailed down the vibe of southern hospitality. For drinks, they have seasonal cocktails, which I think is fun, but I'm not around at a time where I would be able to chill and drink. I end up with a go-to sweet tea. Strong and sweet, that it kept me up, but not the strongest nor sweetest I've had. There's also complimentary bread that's mini muffin shaped and dense like a biscuit. It's buttery and salty, but I like it! Before coming, I saw so many things about the sampler, so I definitely wanted to get it and try out. Love the fried green tomatoes with the honey mustard. It didn't feel oily, and it held up pretty well when cut and dipped into sauce. The pimento cheese here is probably the best I've ever had, but I will admit that I have not had many (I tend to not like it). In fact, both these items stay on my mind enough that I do think about coming here more often than I thought I would. And this is just for the apps. The rest of the entrees are pretty standard. Some better than others, but that's due to preference. I haven't gone through the whole menu, but I do prefer their chicken to some of the other menu items. For their sides, I haven't seen or heard of some of them. I asked about them, and they were described p well, enough for me to not want to try congealed salad. I'm not a big fan of jello type things, but I did try the pear salad. Not for me. Absolutely not for me. I did really enjoy the collard green soup and sweet potato souffle though! They were great, esp the souffle. It was my first time having nuts in them, and I loved it so much. Everything else was alright, like I'm sure you've had or can make better mac. Overall, I'm glad to know this place because it's a good rec for the area if you're in the mood for Southern food. It's not a bad pick for vegetarians either, though they would only have appetizers and sides to pick from, but I liked them more than the entrees. There's a parking lot, and it's in a good location to see the rest of downtown Perry too.
