Wife and I went this week. Tuesdays they have a special $32 which includes 2 drinks, house salad (which was fantastic and they give plenty), and a traditional pie. First, the salad, enough and then some for two. Not sure what dress they use on the house salad, but it was awesome. Today (Thursday), I was drooling on the way home from errands about the leftover salad which I had for lunch. Second, the pizza, cracker thin crust but surprisingly filling. Sauce was delicious and fresh, you could see tomato seeds in the sauce. Still have leftovers in the fridge and curious how it reheats. Fantastic pie overall. Finally, the staff, as good as the food was, the staff was exponentially better, friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going again (and again). read more

I wish I could give more than 5 stars honestly. I moved down from North Jersey and was unable to find a good pie. Today, my husband and I went here. I can't rave enough about it. I will start with the atmosphere. It has a really cool vibe and there are different themes to the rooms. The staff was incredible. So friendly and helpful and patient. Now the food. I can't say enough. If you over look the salad (yes I said salad), you are missing out. It was top 2 best salads I ever had. It was simple but delicious. The pizza, is the best I have had in South Jersey. The crust is thin and the flavors of the sauce is amazing. I highly recommend the original pie as well as the buffalo chicken. Don't forget the homemade ranch and Bleu cheese. Desert is made in house and was just as incredible as everything else. I'm someone who prefers thicker crust but i was pleasantly surprised to love the thin crispiness of this pizza along with the homemade sauce. Holy Tomato is the cutest hidden gem! We drove by a few times thinking it was just a house! But inside is the coziest, most welcoming spot. Service was excellent! So friendly and attentive from start to finish. We had the Famous House Salad to start and then shared the Original Pie with Italian sausage. The crust was crisp and perfect. This little place packs so much flavor into their food!! The Caesar salad with the pecans was amazing, next level. The chicken Alfredo pizza and boardwalk pizza were outstanding!! The pies are cut into (more like) long squares but amazing flavors! The gentleman who walked us to our seats and checked in on was top notch in customer service and care. We stopped into Holy Tomato for our first time last night. It's an unassuming converted street-front house on the outside, but an eclectic cozy atmosphere inside. Once we sat down our server made us feel like we were one of the regulars. She made sure we knew everything we needed to make the visit all it could be. The menu is a bit sparse, but what's there (mainly pizza) sounded delicious. My wife and I ordered two half pizza's a house salad (which served two to three people) and a bottle of wine from Auburn Road (an excellent local vineyard with very much the same eclectic vibe). The food was as good as Google made it sound and it showed up quickly. The owner (I believe) named Tom also stopped by to make sure everything was to our liking and we were more than happy to tell him it was. We ended up having a nice conversation with him about the history of the business. I don't know how we overlooked it for so long. Live and learn. Everyone there was incredibly nice and very customer service oriented and it felt like they all loved being there. We look forward to getting back there soon. Do take note that you should park in the library lot a few doors down. The township doesn't allow street parking out front and the lot across the street runs the risk of getting towed. read more

Our first night out after arriving in South Jersey for our visit was absolutely delicious! We went to Holy Tomato Pies (9 S Black Horse Pike, Gloucester Township) and had a salad and "margarita" pizza. We added mushrooms to the pie and got a side of anchovies for my husband (lovely presentation of the anchovies, but forgot to take a picture since I was already digging into the pizza when they arrived). Holy Pies is BYOB (which we didn't take advantage of since we had just gotten off a 10-day cruise and our livers needed a break) and only accepts cash or venmo. The decor in there is fun and eclectic. We arrived at just the right time, I think it was shortly after six, and there was only one other table occupied inside, but within 15 minutes or so the place was packed and every table was full. I don't know how we managed to time it so well, but yay for us! Loved the friendly and welcoming staff who made us feel right at home. Holy Tomato says that their salads (you can get a nice house salad with lettuce, tomato, and olive assortment, pepperoncini, and toasted sesame seeds, or a Caesar salad) feed two as a side salad, but they're huge and will easily feed four. The delicious pie was also huge, so we're happy to be staying in a hotel with a refrigerator and microwave and are looking forward to the leftovers. It was perfect, with generous helpings of mozzerella, fresh tomato slices and basil. Couldn't even think about dessert since we were so stuffed, but I did enjoy their housemade raspberry lemonade (a LOT!) that pretty much served as a non-alcoholic sangria with its assortment of fruit chunks and berries. Our server said some customers add alcohol to it, which I imagine would be darn good. Note that the prices shown on Yelp are outdated and so you're better off going to their website for current pricing. Everything we had was well worth the price. The pickle pizza is to die for. I had that, their chicken Alfredo, and the margarita. All were great but the pickle one was beyond great.

We went there Saturday and took a friend from of town. I thought she would enjoy interior decoration and I knew she was a fan of thin crust pizza. I read several negative reviews about the owners husband but thought they might have been a personal opinion. It was 91 degrees outside and we were seated in a back dining room that was probably about a comfortable 75 degrees. We ordered our food and were off to a great start. The wait staff was very friendly. The owner was seated next to us entertaining some friends. Suddenly an obviously angry man came into the dining room and opened the door to the "patio". Within minutes the dining room was the temperature of the outside. He came back later and opened the door even wider and blocked it with a chair to make sure it couldn't be closed. My friend has blood sugar issues so eating on schedule is very important to her. The heat only exacerbated the situation. Our salad came out first which was mushy and not crisp like I had remembered in the past. By this point my friend is feeling ill and starting to cry. I thought if she got some food she would stabilize but when I asked about our pizza I was told repeatedly we were next. The pizza finally came out. It tasted ok but the crust was matzo thin and crispy. Like eating a pizza on a cracker. By this point my friend is sick. We had them pack the food for takeout. No one in the restaurant seemed to notice that we were packing up our food nor that my friend was crying. Back in the car we got some air conditioning and my friend came back to life. We had concert tickets for that night that we missed due to my friend health. I will never go back here again. Look at my reviews. Service was excellent and super friendly! My wife and I are traveling and friend suggested the pickle pie. Our waitress confirmed so we split a house salad and a pizza, half pickle and half margarita! The salad was crisp romaine with a wonderful dressing and toasted sesame seeds which really set this salad apart. Giant portion for us both to split. Then came the pizza and it was, well, delicious! The homemade pickles and cream dill sauce was great, but the crispy onion straws with the hot honey were perfect! Great reviews with this place. I stayed traditional and I got the traditional tomato pie. It was very thin and crispy and the sauce tasted fresh but I wouldn't recommend taking it to go. Eating it fresh makes all the difference so if you can dine in. The one thing that was weird is that they cut the pizza differently which I wasn't a fan of. For takeout they bring it to your car which is a nice touch. In my opinion, this is a top 5 tomato pies in nj. I will be back and probably eat the whole pizza myself! read more

Mediocre pizza, terrible service. Went for my second time (first time pizza took over an hour and owner blamed on "new chef"). This time, we were told 30 mins for a pizza and it took 1hr 20 mins - must have been another new chef. Small place but has been in business for a long time and should be better about making pizzas on time and/or communicating better expectations to customers. Pizza is thin crust but floppy. Decent flavor but nothing special. I hope they decide the quality of the customer experience is more of a priority moving forward. read more

This was my first time eating here, it's one of my friend's favorite places. It was a cold snowy night and they have signs up out front, that day No Parking, curbside pick up only. It really doesn't seem legal and it was crappy so we parked there anyway. A man came out of the restaurant telling everyone not to park there and questioning us about parking there. We went in and were seated, only to have the same man come back and tell us there were 2 other parties in front of us. I guess if he wasn't out front hollering about the parking he could have communicated that to the server that sat us. He took our name and phone number, then told us to go back to our car and wait! He was so rude, I didn't want to eat there anymore. Since we were back in the car, I decided to move it to a different spot, as I didn't want the ride man to come back out again. My friend talked me into staying and eating there. If I had not been with her, I would have left. The pizza we got was half white and half The flip. We also ordered the Cesare salad. Owners were very kind peeps and brought the order out to us. We got a tomato pie(no cheese) and after opening the box, the aroma of freshly baked goodness sent a signal to my heart.
