    Hot latte
    Bethany R.

Great little neighborhood coffee shop! Friendly servers and baristas and a few different little food options. More space inside then you would Expect. We got 2 coffees to go and a ham and cheese croissant. I enjoyed my hot latte the croissant was just ok in my opinion, didn't like all the seeds and stuff on top which made a big mess.

Great coffee and very friendly staff! The pastry was tasty and they even warmed it up. The barista is skillful, beautiful designs...Very Great new find!

Ordered a red velvet latte which was lovely. The service was quick with welcoming staff. Lots of open seating spaces on a Monday afternoon.

The avocado toast came with a heafty portion of bacon, which I didn't love. I'd recommend ordering w/o bacon if you're looking for more of an avocado flavor. The coffee is consistently good. They have a couple of locations and if I'm nearby I ty and stop in!

I have a soft spot for this cafe. Was a go to for study sessions/applications back when I was a student. I come here and there now and staff is still friendly as always. They have a good amount of seating indoors with wifi. Homey (like the name), non pretentious cafe. They were known for their Birthday Cake Latte back in the day. They have fun interesting flavors but their basics including cappuccino and drip coffee are solid. Street parking around the neighborhood is available!

Super unique coffee flavors such as red velvet. The cashier was patient. The pistachio berry twice baked croissant ($6) was delicious! Although I got it heated up, the middle was not warm. Nutella latte ($7.50) was good, though you will need to mix the Nutella since it sinks to the bottom. Super cute coffee art! Although there was not space between the tables, customers typically occupied every other table. The employees definitely need to check counter for water, kids, utensils. Good cafe to do work, bright space and clean restaurant overall.

I've had Home Coffee Roasters bookmarked for a while, so I was glad that I finally had the chance to try them since we were heading north on the SR 1. We made the drive up in the morning and the coffee shop was perfectly situated on the route. They have some parking spots right in front of the shop and luckily there was an opening spot. It was a rainy morning, but I went with the Ube Iced Latte. Looking back however, I think making it hot would have fit the weather better! The Ube Iced Latte was good! It was the right amount of sweetness and made for a great morning caffeine fix. The coffee shop has a spacious layout and looks like a nice spot to study at. If I'm in the area again and need coffee, I would come back!

Really good vibes. Almost always full with people inside working or studying with their yummy drinks. I order the oat milk latte or their birthday cake latte. So pretty so good for a sweet treat for a sweet me! Ive also ordered an avocado toast there once also really good! I'm lucky its so close to me.

Coffee was decent and the staff were really friendly. The shop has big windows and lots of natural light, making it a nice spot to sit for a while. It's clearly a coworking cafe vibe with almost every table taken by someone on a laptop. Seating can be tough to find during peak hours, and the space is on the smaller side. I was here working too, so I can't complain, but it's not a place you'd come to relax without a purpose. Nice if you're already in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way just for this. Drinks: 6/10 Service: 8/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Value: 7/10

This little coffee shop has a nice handful of interesting latte flavors, which is what I tend to look for. I was excited to try their red velvet and Cookie Monster lattes. The service was friendly, and the space was nice, but I wasn't blown away by the coffees, unfortunately. The red velvet was solid, but the Cookie Monster one was less remarkable. I think the flavors and add-ons probably work better if you get that latte hot, though. Overall, it is a spot worth checking out if you're in the area.

I've been coming here for a few years now and it makes me happy to see how lively it's become. My last visit the cafe was full and there were people in and out grabbing their to go orders. Home coffee has slowly becoming apart of my rotation not just because how popular they are but the drinks are super delicious and the staff is beyond friendly.

Found this gem of a coffee shop a couple of blocks away from where my hubby used to live! Birthday cake latte was very appealing for the rainbow look and just because I love a good vanilla latte. The cup of coffee literally tasted like home, warm, sweet, and comforting. Perfect for grabbing on the go walking down Sunset. They have many different drinks and offer baked goods, and different toasts to pair with your drink!

I used to come here often while i was young. I stopped by while in town and got the lavender latte with Oatmilk. It was pretty good! Not too sweet and you def taste the espresso. Classic.

Ask the Community - Home Coffee Roasters

Are the mochi muffins sourced from Third Culture?

    Yes

Do they have indoor seating yet?

As of about 3 weeks ago when I was there, they were takeout only.

Are employees required to be vaccinated and wear masks?

    Yes.

Do they have indoor seating (Oct '21)?

    not yet

Can the Birthday Cake Latte be made vegan (like with an alternative milk), or is the flavoring used non-vegan?

You can ask them for oatmilk because I always ask for oatmilk instead. Other than oatmilk, I am not sure what are the best other alternatives they have. Hope this helps.

Can we now dine-in, ever since the mask mandate has been lifted?

I am not sure about the Richmond district one but the Sunset. It is still a take out, no dine in yet. Even though, as much as I want to but still; no luck in that happening, yet.

Can the birthday cake or vanilla latte be sugar free?

    I believe so. Anything's possible!

Do they offer decaf coffee and/or decaf espresso?

I believe they do. I've asked for an extra shot on my orders and am always satisfied.

Are iced drinks more expensive than hot drinks? I ordered an iced vanilla latte made with almond milk and it was over $6

Iced and hot drinks are the same price. But almond milk is a $1 extra. Hope that helps answer your question! :)

    Do they have nonfat milk?

Sadly, no. I have to get almond milk lattes.

Are there a lot of power outlets?

There's a good amount of outlets along the benches. Never had a problem finding one but it's always pretty packed there so just get ready to share a table with a stranger.… Read more

Are there Non-dairy options for lattes?

    Yup! Almond and soy

Do they offer gluten free toast options?

    No they do not

I have gone to Blackbird a handful of times and have enjoyed the experience each time. Blackbird is primarily a bookstore, but they do have an outdoor window where you can order drinks ranging from matcha (Rocky's Matcha, if you're curious about which brand they use), lattes, and tea. They also carry a good amount of pastries (even mid-day, they have a lot of goodies), which I really appreciated. When you order your drink, you have to enter inside the bookstore to wait for your drink to be called, but you can take the time to stroll around and look at their book selection and trinkets. Heads up: the seating here is limited but very lovely. Inside, there are a couple of community tables, but their outdoor area is absolutely magical, with lush greenery and benches for you to enjoy your drinks. This time around, I got one of their seasonal drinks, a honey lavender vanilla latte, and I paired it with an Earl Grey olive oil loaf. The portion of the pastry was generous and moist, while the icing was not too sweet. Overall, a great pick for a cafe if you're in the area.

Matcha latte with whole milk : It's very savory which is great, unsweetened by default. I thought this was one of the better matchas I've had if you want to be able to taste the matcha strongly. Olive oil spelt cake: It reminds me of pound cake. Not that sweet except the frosting/icing. It was okay but as someone who's not as fond of that kind of cakey texture, I'd probably not get it again. They have a really lovely garden and patio in the back. There is also a bathroom. The acoustics and set up for events isn't great, though. It was hard for me to concentrate on the speaker for the book talk since you can hear the noises from the cafe behind and also the sounds of other store customers all around you. That was the only downside, but I think it's a very charming bookstore otherwise.
