Sometimes the best places are hiding in plain sight. This coffee house blends so well with the local environment that it took me a while to find the entrance. I came in with my pup a while ago and we had a great time! We don't come here as often as we would like now that I'm so busy with work. Thank goodness that my fur child always remind me that I should live my best life and be in the present as much as possible. This coffee house is beautiful, love the beachy, laidback surfing aesthetics, it's by the beach, and has good coffee. Located on Great Hwy and near end of Cabrillo.

    Cappuccino

It started with them asking me to wait, which no problem, I was the only one there and they were resetting. But then proceeded to have me wait until there was a line to the door. Then after that wait my drink got out relatively fast but this was the they served me after calling my name once. Crazy seeming I paid 6.50 for a whole milk cappuccino I would expect the milk at least to look nicer than this? But I thought this was supposed to be third wave cafe so maybe it's just my mistake.

    latte with extra whip

My friends and I decided to drop by since we were planning on hiking Lands End and wanted to caffeinate! The line was pretty long that Saturday morning, but it moved relatively quickly. I ordered the Iced Latte and added extra whip. The latte wasn't too sweet which was perfect for me. The coffee wasn't acidic which I liked. I guess I expected more whipped cream, but it was still good. It was a good solid iced latte! One con about this place is how the lids are a bit difficult to put on. It wouldn't close properly, so I just use a straw to drink from the cup. There is very minimal parking in this area, so you may need to park and walk to this place. I lived near Ocean Beach, so the walk wasn't too long and I got my steps in! I love the fact that this shop is right next to Ocean Beach, so that I could do a quick coffee run and just walk along the beach for the day!

Obsessed with their whipped cream. ( & I don't even like whipped cream which says a lot lolol ) This location is great especially on a sunny day close to the beach. Staff is always so nice!

Cute coffe shop along the beach with some surf merch and tables to chit chat at. Interesting policy for no tech weekends so they encourage you to socialize rather than work on computers. No WiFi. The matcha snow plover was a matcha tonic soda, and it wasn't quite to my taste. Otherwise, it's got a great aesthetic inside and nice minimal outdoor seating

Slow down Andytown y'all are expanding too fast! Hope the overall quality doesn't take a big hit. I stuck with my usual snowy plover order. No real complaint there as that drink is usually solid. The cappuccino; however, was more expensive than what it's worth. It may do it for you in a pinch but that's about it. Outdoor patio is decent. You mostly see the parking lot though but the beach is visible.

Tried the snowy plover and my friend got the iced matcha. Both tasted delicious and I thought their signature snowy plover was super unique. We enjoyed the views of Ocean Beach and mellow atmosphere.

I went to get some morning coffee with some friends on the weekend. It wasn't super crowded surprisingly but there was a line. I ordered a latte with oat milk and got it w a hat (their homemade whip). This Andytown location also has a few games available for customers to play w friends. We spent some time playing checkers as we sipped on our lattes. The location of this store has a nice view outside and the decoration here is a beach/surf vibe.

Great coffee and an even better location right by Ocean Beach. The space is super cute with chill surfer vibes and tons of plants everywhere. Perfect spot to hang out and read. Just don't plan on getting work done here since there's no WiFi and lots of digital detox zones.

Amazing views, albeit a tad chilly on the deck. Broad coffee menu, but very limited eats. Must be quite popular since the lines were long. Blackberry Plover: When mixed together, this tasted like a delicious homemade blackberry cream soda. So indulgent and so refreshing. Really appreciated the generous amount of fresh fruit puree. Affogato: Not your typical affogato. Poured over an It's It that was cut in half. Kind of amazing since the ice cream sandwich gets melty real quick. You also have that softer cookies dipped in milk effect, with the melted ice cream. Unique and memorable and nostalgic all at the same time!

Such a cute spot that had a line out the door on a Saturday afternoon. Matcha latte was amazing here - not too bitter and not at all gritty. I got it unsweetened and it was perfect. Inside - spacious and surfer themed with a beautiful outdoor patio that faces the beach.

    This was borderline disrespectful.

The space is so lovely, but this was a very sad excuse for a matcha latte. I spent $7 on cup of milk? Even after mixing, this was a light grey green. Please just take it off the menu if you are going to serve it like this. Good coffee shop, definitely not a matcha place.

I have gone to Blackbird a handful of times and have enjoyed the experience each time. Blackbird is primarily a bookstore, but they do have an outdoor window where you can order drinks ranging from matcha (Rocky's Matcha, if you're curious about which brand they use), lattes, and tea. They also carry a good amount of pastries (even mid-day, they have a lot of goodies), which I really appreciated. When you order your drink, you have to enter inside the bookstore to wait for your drink to be called, but you can take the time to stroll around and look at their book selection and trinkets. Heads up: the seating here is limited but very lovely. Inside, there are a couple of community tables, but their outdoor area is absolutely magical, with lush greenery and benches for you to enjoy your drinks. This time around, I got one of their seasonal drinks, a honey lavender vanilla latte, and I paired it with an Earl Grey olive oil loaf. The portion of the pastry was generous and moist, while the icing was not too sweet. Overall, a great pick for a cafe if you're in the area.

Matcha latte with whole milk : It's very savory which is great, unsweetened by default. I thought this was one of the better matchas I've had if you want to be able to taste the matcha strongly. Olive oil spelt cake: It reminds me of pound cake. Not that sweet except the frosting/icing. It was okay but as someone who's not as fond of that kind of cakey texture, I'd probably not get it again. They have a really lovely garden and patio in the back. There is also a bathroom. The acoustics and set up for events isn't great, though. It was hard for me to concentrate on the speaker for the book talk since you can hear the noises from the cafe behind and also the sounds of other store customers all around you. That was the only downside, but I think it's a very charming bookstore otherwise.

My Margherita pizza was a rectangular 8 piece gem, with vivid tomato flavors and ample cheese. The crust was equally delicious and suited the pizza just right. It is tucked away and a bit inconspicuous, so be sure to keep an eye out if you decide to come over here. Since it is near the park, parking is difficult, and taking Muni would be best. The store itself is small, with two tightly packed tables for seating, and the order counter is surrounded by delicious-looking pastries, giving it a homey vibe. I went in the afternoon on a weekend, and there was no line at the time. I really needed a caffeine boost, saw this place on Yelp, and decided to try it out. I try my best to order coffees/drinks that are unique to the place so I can try their signatures and form my best judgment. I decided to order the Thai Caffe Banana Latte and saw that it was labeled as blended with bananas. When I went up to the counter, I asked about the consistency of the latte to ensure it was not a creamy blended drink (like a smoothie) but still liquid, like a typical latte. I am unsure if my question was confusing, but it seemed to bother the person serving me that I was asking questions, and they seemed to be getting impatient with me. When they rang me up, I paid, but I forgot to ask for almond milk since I felt rushed while ordering (even though no one else was in the store at the time). I asked if I could still add it in and pay the upcharge or separate fee. They ended up telling me to just tip them the extra $1 in cash or add it to the Square payment as a tip (I gave $2 in cash because I felt bad for inconveniencing them). When I got the drink, the coffee was strong, bold, and not as sweet as I thought it was going to be (which was fine!). Since the original coffee without banana says it has condensed milk, I thought it was going to have more of that sweet note with the banana, but I could be incorrect in assuming it would be sweeter. That said, the banana itself was mashed into the drink, and unfortunately, I did not taste it very much, though I did sip up some banana pieces. Based on the drinks and the service, perhaps this place just is not for me, but I would not tell you to avoid it either. I would recommend trying it yourself to formulate your own thoughts, since maybe my experience was a one-off and the drink I got was not the one that best represents this cafe!
