Ended up going here after walking around Golden State Park. The coffee shop was spacious inside. I loved that the location was close to the beach; it had great views and gave chill vibes. The staff was nice and friendly. I ordered the Original Plover. The drink was refreshing. It tasted different at first, especially with the soda water, but once I mixed it, I fully enjoyed the drink. Sometimes the best places are hiding in plain sight. This coffee house blends so well with the local environment that it took me a while to find the entrance. I came in with my pup a while ago and we had a great time! We don't come here as often as we would like now that I'm so busy with work. Thank goodness that my fur child always remind me that I should live my best life and be in the present as much as possible. It started with them asking me to wait, which no problem, I was the only one there and they were resetting. But then proceeded to have me wait until there was a line to the door. Then after that wait my drink got out relatively fast but this was the they served me after calling my name once. Crazy seeming I paid 6.50 for a whole milk cappuccino I would expect the milk at least to look nicer than this? My friends and I decided to drop by since we were planning on hiking Lands End and wanted to caffeinate! The line was pretty long that Saturday morning, but it moved relatively quickly. I guess I expected more whipped cream, but it was still good. It was a good solid iced latte! One con about this place is how the lids are a bit difficult to put on. It wouldn't close properly, so I just use a straw to drink from the cup. There is very minimal parking in this area, so you may need to park and walk to this place. I lived near Ocean Beach, so the walk wasn't too long and I got my steps in! Love getting Andytown's iced lattes "with a hat", which adds a dollop of sweet frothed cream on top! Mixed in, the drink gets a really nice airiness and becomes subtly sweet - a super unique and delicious twist compared to just a normal iced latte. Some slight cons - I find that sometimes the sweetness of the cream can vary significantly depending on the day, so it'd be fantastic if they could improve the consistency of their "hats". Also, not a fan of only having paper straws which get all soggy and gross - maybe consider offering sippy lids for iced drinks, if plastic straws are really not an option. read more

Affogato: Not your typical affogato. Poured over an It's It that was cut in half. Kind of amazing since the ice cream sandwich gets melty real quick. Good coffee, the espresso is high quality and the cream is sweet and salty, which I like a lot. The location by the beach is great for picking up a latte or espresso with cream to go on a beach walk. Growing up, I used to accompany my dad to Wise Surfboards, an iconic San Francisco surf shop that opened in 1968 and sadly closed in 2019. Coming back to the large, spacious, airy location on the northern end of Ocean beach was nostalgic; my friend brought me to the shop on the morning the tornado warning had gone out, and the wind and sand nearly swept us away. Parking had been free and easy to find (definite brownie points for a San Francisco location), so we quickly sprinted from our car into the shop and were enveloped in a warm, safe, atmosphere draped in wafting scents of fresh coffee brewing. It was wonderful. The beautiful decor (plenty of plants and knick-knacks and surfboards) and amazing view (safely enjoyed from inside) added to the sense of calm. My friend and I got the seasonal Plovers (pumpkin and peppermint), both of which came with a delightful dollop of their rich and sweet house-made whipped cream. They were both exactly what we needed. So flavorful and delicious. And they came out pretty quick too, considering the large amount of other customers. We also got the jalapeño cheddar cornbread muffin, which I really enjoyed. read more

One of the most aesthetic locations of this staple SF coffeeshop! With large windows and a view of the beach, this Andytown is perfect to grab to-go and walk along Ocean Beach, catch up with a friend, but not to do work. I wish the second floor was open to customers for more seating. Parking is pretty easy with an attached lot. I love sparkling drinks, so I pretty much only get their plover drinks. My favorite is their seasonal Let It Snowy Plover, which comes with an adorable mini candy cane. It has mild carbonation and the perfect amount of peppermint flavor, and it's so yummy once you mix in the housemade whipped cream. I'm usually not a fan of mochas because they're too sweet and rich, but Andytown does a great job with their Minty Mocha. You know, having been well aware of their reputation and all of the praise that folks have heaped on them for so long, you'd think I would've tried Andytown by now. However, despite how they've got locations scattered across SF (primarily in the Outer Sunset, where they first opened), I never seemed to be near one when the urge (need?) for coffee would strike. So, I guess I have my friend to thank for wanting to catch up over a cup of coffee on one of the hottest days of the summer - no better place to do it than while sitting right by the beach! Between its perch right along the Great Highway and how it shares the space with Ocean Plant, an ocean-centric retailer focused on ocean awareness, the community, and sustainability, this Andytown has a heavy beach vibe to it. As others have mentioned, seating isn't as plentiful as you might expect for its size (portions are devoted to Ocean Plant's products, like apparel, surfboards, surf supplies, etc.), but there's still a handful of small tables, couch, shared table, and patio seating and the entire beach is right across the street. Similarly, the menu appears somewhat modest, but there's still no shortage of options across its coffee/espresso offerings, including their signature snowy plover, teas, bottled drinks, and baked goodies. -- HOUSE DRIP COFFEE - Wind & Sea Blend...$2.75 Pretty straightforward...and pretty tasty. This felt like a medium roast of sorts, as it had a rather well rounded flavor without any overly assertive notes (in a good way). Most importantly, it gave me a nice pick-me-up to get through the rest of the day! -- ORIGINAL BIRD SNOWY PLOVER - Iced Espresso Drink with Brown Sugar Syrup, Soda Water, and Topped with Housemade Whipped Cream...$6.50 Not sure why folks are so enamored with this, but mostly because I thought it was more good than great. Along with their delicious offerings and fantastic location, the other thing that I love about coming here is how plentiful parking is. Typically, it's easy to find a spot in the small lot right in front, but even if it fills up (it's a public lot), it's not hard to find one in the lots across the street for Ocean Beach. The one thing about my experiences that has been a little more up and down has been the service. To be clear - it has never been awful and the staff, for the most part, has been fairly friendly. It's just that across all of my visits here, a couple of the workers seemed somewhat annoyed/irritated and weren't really hiding it. Favorite coffee spot when I'm near the Great Hwy! Havent really gotten much other than hot chocolate here although I would love to try the matcha next time I'm around but they make a great hot chocolate! My favorite part is definitely the whipped cream! They also have really cute little bird and octopus (and other animal) stickers!! There are a few Andytown locations, and this is defnitely a nice one, situated right by the beach with a nice view. They are located in the same area as Ocean + Plant, so look out for that if not the 800 number - difficult to find. After ordering my go-to iced latte, I went for a stroll to get some nice beachside pictures before sitting down to finish some work. Their beans of choice were the "Short Strand" Ethiopian and Guatemalan blend with hints of toffee and milk chocolate. If I could describe this in one word, it'd be magically the right all-around profile - the crowd pleaser. The only complaint is that there is no Wi-Fi, and finding a plug was near impossible. Therefore, I highly recommend a charged laptop, a good book, a friend, or advanced activity planning. There is also a tech free area, so maybe that is the inspiration, but do take note of that if your intend to visit for a work session. read more

The coffee bar is actually located inside a surf x plant shop (appropriately named Ocean Plant); you can pick up what you need for the beach as well as take a new plant friend home. Our first time here last week after checking out Sunset Dunes. I got the Original Bird and my husband got the cold brew. I've had a liking for coffee with soda water since first trying it in Japan. I ordered it less sweet, recommended by the cashier. He said I can try it and if I want it sweeter, they can always add more syrup. I did just that and asked for more syrup. It was perfect for me on the little sweeter side. The cashier was friendly and nice, but the girl who added more syrup didn't smile in any of my interactions with her. My goodness, I waited 30 minutes in line to get my order taken at Andytown Coffee Roasters on a weekend afternoon. With that wait I would hope that it would be worth it. I have to say that their latte is really good with high quality ingredients used. I'm no coffee connoisseur, but it was a nice pick me up and was not overly bitter or sweet. My parents were a fan of their coffee also. It's a nice hangout spot too, but it gets busy and crowded during prime hours. Some people couldn't find seating and had to stand up with how busy it was. Personally I would go again if I have a lot of time because the wait in line can be a bit daunting. There is a parking lot next to the coffee shop, but sometimes can be full if you are unlucky. Customer service: The barista were not friendly and were not welcoming. I threw trash into the bin behind the counter since that was the only one inside and the barista in an annoyed tone and rudely said "UM, there are trash cans outside". I didn't know that was a rule. Atmosphere/Cleanliness: This place is known for the vibes, but honestly the walls were really dirty and had brown stains. THIS IS NOT A STUDY SPOT: I found this place from TikTok when I searched "sf cafe study spots". After I went, I did some digging on yelp reviews and apparently they have "no electronics" signs up on areas of the cafe. They also have certain days where electronics are not allowed. They actively discourage studying there! There are people who also have left negative reviews on here being mad that there are people studying there who "don't know when to leave". I guess it's my bad for not doing enough research, but it's my first time encountering a cafe that actively discourages studying there. This is probably also the reason why there's no WiFi. Andytown in the Outer Richmond has a very peaceful ring to it. I visited on a Friday morning and it was relatively quiet and serene. FYI, it is not the kind of cafe to do computer work from- they don't have wifi and the overall atmosphere seemed to discourage electronic use. I would however recommend if you're looking for a quiet getaway! It's right by the water so the outdoor views are gorgeous. Latte: 7/10. Good but nothing to write home about. It was also small.
